        한방 통계 시스템의 설계 및 구현

        The statistics of traditional korean medicine is essential aspects for the information based policy establishment and the evidence based traditional korean medicine research. But because the integrated statistics service of traditional korean medicine is not provided, people are hard to find out suitable statistics. Thus we analyzed the produced statistics from many ministries, classified it into 7 categories and extracted common fields from it. We designed the database schema by summary table dynamic production method from the analysis of statistics and designed the system composed of excel import, statistics analysis, chart creation and search engine. Finally we implemented the statistics system of traditional korean medicine which users are capable of modifying the statistics data freely. We hope that the implemented system will provide pliability in searching and finding statistical information. 한의학 통계의 생산, 관리 및 제공은 구체적이고 객관적인 데이터를 활용한 한의학 정책의 수립과 근거에 기반한 한의학 연구를 위해 필수적인 요소이다. 그러나 현재 한방 통계 서비스는 정부와 민간의 유관 단체가 산별적으로 제공하는 상황에서 체계적이고 통합적인 서비스가 이루어지고 있지 않기 때문에 이용자는 신뢰할 수 있으며 유용한 가치를 가진 데이터의 검색, 획득 및 활용에 많은 어려움이 있다. 본 연구는 각 기관에서 생산하는 한의학 관련 통계자료를 분석하여 이용자가 편리하게 이용할 수 있도록 한방 통계를 7가지 분야로 구분하고, 분야별 서비스 통계 항목을 분석하였다. 서비스 이용에 대한 시나리오 설계를 바탕으로 요약 테이블 동적생성기법을 이용하여 데이터베이스를 설계하였으며 Excel Import, Statistics Analysis, Chart Creation, Search Engine의 4개 모듈로 이루어진 시스템을 설계하여 사용자가 원하는 형태의 통계 가공 기능을 제공하는 시스템을 구현하였다. 한방 통계 시스템은 사용자에게 필요한 통계를 검색하고 통계 정보를 획득하는데 많은 유연성을 제공할 것으로 기대된다.

        Study on Improving Oriental Medicine Statistical System for Multidimensional Statistical Data

        Oriental medicine statistics are essential in research planning, research evaluation, and policy decision based on objective data. However, integrated administration of such statistics is not presently possible in the oriental medicine field, which has been slow in incorporating information communication technology. In an effort to address this problem, the Korea Institute of Oriental Medicine (KIOM) developed an oriental medicine statistical system in 2009, and the system has been offered in the traditional medicine information portal of OASIS. However, according to a 2010 survey targeting OASIS users, those surveys reported that needs for a system where various statistical data can be extracted via an interactive approach to multidimensional data. As a result of an analysis of the functions of the existing system, it was found that it is necessary to array and arithmetically analyze Stats Value, Drill Up & Drill Down, and Pivot. To this end, the existing DB schema should be redesigned. Based on our analysis result, we redesigned the database into a structure that is applicable to the reverse pivot algorithm. We used J2EE/JSP and a Flex framework to design and develop an oriental medicine statistical system that can provide multidimensional statistical data. Considering that the improved oriental medicine statistical system is planned to be offered by OASIS of KIOM, utilization and value of oriental medicine statistical data are expected to be enhanced.

      • 한의학술논문 데이터베이스 구축을 위한 입력 및 검수 시스템 개발

        Objectives : KIOM(Korean Institute of Oriental Medicine) built up korean medical paper database and services it through information portal OASIS. The database are updated about 1,600 papers and 48,000 references annually. Because lots of manpower and time are needed to update database, it is very important to raise up efficiency and quality of it. Methods : In this paper, we implemented web based database building system utilizing pre-built OASIS' database to improve the working process, data quality and ease of management. Results : First we designed and implemented web based system to input bibliography of the paper efficiently. It raised efficiency using OASIS' paper and reference database. Second we improved the refining process using web based system to raise up data quality. And third we developed the manager functions of web based system to control and check the working process. Conclusions : If we add korean medical dictionary and link outside paper database in the future, we hope that work efficiency and data quality will be raised more. And because the database schema of OASIS system and developed system are different, we are implementing the data transformation system.

        한약처방 정보 검색 시스템 구축

        Objectives : This study aimed to build up information system for the 25 cases of Korean Medicine (KM) prescriptions which are used mostly often in clinic and aimed to offer information about its effect and safety to public and researcher. Methods : We used KM prescription data-bank which came from 'The Bio-informatics for herbal formula' and 'The evidence based medicine for herbal formula' projects of Korean Institute of Oriental Medicine (KIOM) Results : First, we analyzed prescription data and categorized 7 classes, then we built up prescription database based on it. Second, we designed and developed user functions of prescription information system, then we link it to OASIS. Third, we developed adminstration system to manage the prescription data. Conclusions : From this study we hope that KM prescription information system will be used for fusion research based on KM. Because the implemented system is linked to OASIS, we expect it will be widely used.

        텍스트마이닝을 활용한 다빈도 한약 처방 5종의 연구 동향 분석 : PubMed 수록 논문 대상

        임상 치료의 중심이 되는 한약 처방에 관한 연구 동향을 다양한 관점에서 분석하고 고찰하기 위해서, 본 연구에서는 다빈도 한약 처방에 관한 논문의 발간 연도와 연구 형태를 분석하였다. 그리고 논문 초록에서 관련 질병을 텍스트 마이닝하여 다빈도 한약 처방 5종의 연구 동향을 파악하고 전통적 한의학적 적응증과 현대적 생물의학 연구 방향에 대해서 고찰하였다. PubMed에서 검색된 논문수 기준으로 상위 5개 한약 처방인 소시호탕, 황련해독탕, 보중익기탕, 소청룡탕, 가미소요산을 분석 대상으로 선정하였다. 연도별 분석에 의하면, 5종의 한약 처방에 관한 논문은 1980년 초부터 시작해서 지속해서 증가하는 것으로 드러났다. 그리고 연구 형태별 분석 결과에 의하면 가미소요산을 제외한 나머지 4종의 한약 처방에 관한 연구에서는 동물 실험이 주류를 이루는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 논문 초록당 평균적으로 3~4개의 질병명이 존재했으며, 태깅된 질병을 MeSH Tree의 Diseases 카테고리에 매핑하고 분석하였다. 다빈도 5종 한약 처방에 대한 전통 의학적 치료 범주와 현대 과학적 질병 연구의 관계 분석을 통해서, 두 도메인 사이의 차이에도 불구하고 한약 처방이라는 소재를 적절한 분야에서 연구하려 했음을 확인할 수 있었다. 또한 한의학적 변증의 개념은 범주화하기 어렵지만 이러한 특성 때문에 한약 처방이 다양한 질병 연구에 응용되고 있는 것으로 나타났다. In order to analyze and examine research trends on traditional Korean medicine (TKM) prescriptions, we analyzed the publication year and study type of the collected papers on TKM prescriptions. In addition, we carried out the text mining on the diseases related to the TKM prescriptions from abstract in PubMed. Then we identified the research trends of top five TKM prescriptions and discussed the TKM indications and the direction of modern biomedical researches. On the basis of the number of papers queried in PubMed, the top five TKM prescriptions, sosiho-tang, hwanglyeonhaedok-tang, bojungikgi-tang, socheongryong-tang, and gamisoyo-san were selected for successive analysis. According to the annual analysis, the number of papers on the identified prescription started from the beginning of 1980 and continued to increase. According to the analysis results by study type, in-vivo studies were found to be the mainstream in studies on the prescription of the 4 TKM prescriptions except gamisoyo-san. In addition, on average, there were three to four disease names per abstract, and then we mapped recognized diseases to the diseases category of the MeSH Tree. Through the comparative analysis between traditional medical treatment concepts and modern scientific disease categories, it was confirmed that they tried to study the material of TKM prescriptions in an appropriate biomedical fields. Although the concept of TKM diagnosis and treatment is difficult to categorize, due to these characteristics, TKM prescriptions are being applied to various disease studies.

        PubMed 논문을 활용한 한약재 6종에 관한 연구 동향 분석

        In Due to its long history, traditional herbal medicine has been the subject of extensive research, aiming to validate its reliability, safety, low side effects, and therapeutic efficacy. This research has sought to discover lead compounds for the development of natural medicines and explore their potential as complementary treatments in modern medicine by integrating modern biomedical methodologies. Many studies on herbal medicine have been conducted and published as research papers. In this study, we analyzed and examined the trends in research on traditional herbal medicine from various perspectives. We selected six key herbal medicines (Astragali Radix, Coptidis Rhizoma, Paeoniae Radix, Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, Scutellariae Radix, and Angelica Gigantis Radix) and conducted a search and analysis of related papers on PubMed. In the analysis of the trends by year, research on these herbal medicines has shown a steep increase since the late 2000s, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic period between 2020 and 2022 when research activity surged significantly. In the analysis by country, the majority of research (74.6%) was conducted in China, with most research being carried out in the East Asian region. Regarding research methods, animal experiments accounted for approximately 40% of the studies, followed by cell experiments, literature analysis, and clinical trials. Text mining was employed to map disease names identified in the abstracts to MeSH disease categories. Pathological conditions, signs and symptoms group was the most frequently studied area, indicating a focus on common symptoms or complex symptoms that are challenging to categorize under a single disease. Finally, we analyzed the relationship between the efficacy and indications of the six selected herbal medicines and their integration into contemporary scientific disease research. This analysis highlighted areas where traditional herbal medicine utilization has been integrated into research and shed light on aspects that may be overlooked in current research directions.

        An Edutainment Game Prototype for Sasang Constitutional Food Therapy

        Objective : Recently many kinds of food therapies have sprung up to prevent or manage disease and to promote health. Seeing Korean history, the Korean medical doctors have been applying food therapy based on the thought that the dietary sources were as important as the medicine. Therefore, in this study, we designed a mobile edutainment game prototype with the goal of providing education about healthy food knowledge for users who belongs to different constitutional types. Materials and Method : We adopted the Sasang Constitutional Medicine as the medical background knowledge for our edutainment game design. Based on the user study, we developed the process of edutainment system which is composed of ‘My game’, ‘My constitution’, and ‘My food’. Among the whole process, we developed a prototype for the core module – the ‘My game’ part. This prototype used a jumping game for mobile devices that is composed of training, level 1 and level 2 stages. Results : From the target user evaluation, it was proved that 1) in terms of the learning effect of healthy diet, the edutainment game we developed has a significant advantage over the conventional learning media. 2) after playing the edutainment game, the good and bad food identification accuracy based on picture and text format were increased by 44% and 42% respectively, and 3) target users perceived enjoyment while using this prototype, as well as showed positive intention to use this game as edutainment tool in the future. Conclusion : We designed and developed mobile edutainment game prototype to educate healthy food knowledge based on Sasang Constitutional Medicine. Through user evaluation, we proved that our prototype enhanced healthy food knowledge and that user accepted the prototype as a beneficial edutainment tool.

        텍스트마이닝을 활용한 한약처방 부작용에 관한 논문 분석 : PubMed 수록 논문 대상

        Herbal medicine prescription which is generally derived from natural ingredients in plants and animals is perceived to have a mild effect and relatively safe, but like all other drugs, the possibility of side-effects exists as the efficacy of the active ingredient is manifested through the processes of absorption, diffusion, metabolism, and excretion. It is known that knowing the information about the side-effects of drugs in advance is very helpful in preventing side-effects, but analysis studies on side-effects caused by herbal medicine prescription are not actively conducted. In this study, therefore, we sorted out 24 papers related to side-effects of herbal medicine prescription by text mining articles from PubMed in order to grasp the current status of side-effects caused by herbal medicine prescription. From the analysis of selected papers, we found that studies on the side-effects of herbal medicine prescription were concentrated on side-effects caused by sosiho-tang until the late 1990s, and since 2000, papers on side-effects caused by other herbal medicine prescription have been published. Thirteen types of herbal medicine prescription were reported in the 24 papers selected in this study, and the herbal medicine prescription with the most reported side-effects was sosiho-tang, with nine case reports. Pneumonitis accounted for the largest proportion of side-effects caused by herbal medicine prescription at 61%, followed by hypoxemia and hemorrhage. The symptoms of side-effects reported by patients were mainly cough (26%), dyspnea (26%), and fever (23%), and other symptoms such as phlegm and pyuria were also reported.

        The Screening of Herbal Medicines for Relieving COVID-19 Symptoms and Sequelae Based on Network Pharmacology and Data-driven Analysis

        The herbal medicine is actively applied to the treatment of corona virus infectious diseases and pharmacological network is one of suitable tool for screening candidate drugs. We established a herb-compound-protein-disease pharmacological network for herbal medicines in the Korean, Chinese, and Japanese pharmacopeias. To analyze the built network in backward direction, we designed weight models of the main symptoms and sequelae of COVID-19 from previous studies. Then we explored the general efficacy of the identified herbs through compositional compounds, target proteins and literature reviews. Through backward analysis, Cichorii intybi radix, Glycine semen nigra, and Granati fructus are expected to have the greatest therapeutic efficacy for COVID-19 symptoms. Cnidii rhizoma, Foeniculi amari fructus, and Thymi herba showed potential therapeutic efficacy for COVID-19 sequelae. From literature reviews, we found that they have efficacy such as anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidant, anti-bacterial, anti-thrombotic, and immunomodulatory effects and contain some of the leading substances for COVID-19 treatments. We showed that pharmacological networks and backward network analysis could recommend herbal medicines expected to have efficacy for COVID-19 symptom and sequelae relief. The data-driven approach adopted in this work has shown the potential to function as a tool for selecting candidate herbal medicines and screening natural product-based leading substances.
