      • Intracellular Localization of Glycoconjugates in Ret Tracheal Mucosa as Revealed by Wheat Germ Agglutinin (WGA) - Colloidal Gold Complexes

        김익태,임현준,민양기 대한비과학회 1994 Journal of rhinology Vol.1 No.2

Cytochemical studies using lectin-colloidal gold complexes could allow us to localize sugar residues in the ultrastructral level. We applid this technique to rat tracheal mucosa in order to indentify the binding patterns of wheat germ agglutinin-gold complexes in the ultrastructures of respiratory epithelial cells and performed transmission electron microscopic examination. We concluded that secrctory granules of secretory cells, microvillar glycocalyces of epithelial cells and mucous blankler were labeled abundantly by WGA-gold particles.

      • Mucin Secretion and MUC1 mRNA Expression in the Cultured Secretory Cells of the Rat Nasal Epithelium

김익태 대한비과학회 1999 Journal of rhinology Vol.6 No.1

The upper respiratory system is lined with epithelium (mucosa) of the pseudostratified ciliated columnar type that producesmucus as a secretion. The major constituent of mucus is mucin, a glycoprotein of distinct physical and biochemical propertiesthat exists in various organs. The aim of this study was to analyze the biochemical and molecular biological conditions affectingmucin secretion in cultured secretory cells of the upper respiratory mucosa. Rat nasal epithelial cells were cultured in fourconditions differing in culture matrix:1) plastic surface (PL), 2) thick collagen gel (TG), 3) thin collagen gel (GC), and 4)collagen gel coated membrane (CO). In each group, cell proliferation patterns, gel lysis and ciliary regeneration were observed, and attachment efficiency and confluence day were recorded. After confluence, mucin in the culture media was tagged with[3H]-glucosamine and analyzed by elution through Sepharose CL-4B column. The expression of MUC1 in cultured cells wasanalyzed by RT-PCR. In PL and GC, attachment efficiency was less than 2.2%. The shape and size of each cell in active proliferationwas not regular. Confluence was observed on culture day 21 (range:15-24). In TG and CO, attachment efficiencywas more than 10.0% and the shape and size of each cell in active proliferation was regular in a compact fashion. Eight days(range:7-11) were needed for confluence. After elution through column, mucin was detected in TG and CO but not in GCand PL. MUC1 was expressed in TG and CO but not in GC and PL. In conclusion, a thick collagen gel matrix was essential inmucin secretion and MUC1 expression in cultured secretory cells of the rat nasal mucosa.

      • The Effects of Pregnancy Conditions on the Incidence of Nasal Septal Deformities in Neonates

        김익태,나경섭,한광식,박명근,최혜진,양경훈 대한비과학회 1999 Journal of rhinology Vol.6 No.2

Background and Objectives:To study the incidence of nasal septal deformities (NSD) in neonates and to identify pregnancyconditions related with NSD occurrence. Materials and Methods:Prospective study of 131 women and their newborns. Incidences of neonatal NSD were looked for with a cotton wool test and through direct visual examination of the neonatal nasalcavity with an otoscope. Under study were arbitrary but possibly related factors of neonatal NSD:the mother's age, parity, medicalhistory, the duration of total labor, the duration of second-stage labor, the delivery type, neonatal birth weight and gestationalage. The contributions of these factors were analyzed statistically. Results:The incidence of neonatal NSD as identifiedthrough otoscopic examination was 11.5%. All studied factors indicated no statistically significant relationship with neonatalNSD. Conclusion:Probable nasal trauma during pregnancy and delivery is likely not a factor in the occurrence of NSD in neonates.

      • Lateral Sinus Thrombophlebitis Caused by Isolated Sphenoid Sinusitis

        김익태,박기영,김영민,양경훈,박영민 대한비과학회 1997 Journal of rhinology Vol.4 No.1

Lateral sinus thrombophlebitis is a very rare complication of paranasal sinusitis. This disease can result in a fatal outcome ifnot treated with proper antibiotics or surgical intervention. Recently, the authors came across a case of lateral sinus thrombophlebitisresulting from cavernous sinus thrombophlebitis complicated by isolated sphenoid sinusitis. Because of a severe andpersistent headache, the case was initially admitted and managed as though the patient was suffering from Tolosa-Hunt syndrome. Hemifacial hypoesthesia, periorbital swelling and meiosis on the right side developed during tentative treatment. High resolutioncomputed tomography showed isolated sphenoid sinusitis with partial bony dehiscence on the roof of left sphenoid sinus. Magneticresonance images showed multiple thrombosis in the cavernous sinus, internal carotid artery, sigmoid sinus and lateral sinus onthe right side. Antibiotics, thrombolytics and endoscopic surgical intervention of sinusitis prevented a fatal outcome in spite ofremaining hemifacial hypoesthesia and ptosis on the right side.

      • The Prevalence of Nasal Septal Deformities among Children in Kindergarten and First Grade in Anyang and Kunpo Cities

        김익태,송상윤 대한비과학회 1999 Journal of rhinology Vol.6 No.1

Nasal septal deformity (NSD) is a common nasal disorder, but its prevalence among children has not been reported in Korea. The aim of this work was to study the prevalence of NSD among children in kindergarten and first grade in Anyang and Kunpocities and to evaluate whether the occurrence of NSD in children was affected by school activity or correlated with sex. Weexamined 1,646 nasal septa of 1,491 students (average age:7.5 years;range:6.3-8.9 years) at three elementary schools and155 children (average age:6.5 years;range:5.9-7.1 years) at two public kindergartens. The overall prevalence of NSD was13.6%. A significant difference in prevalence was found between male and female children and between male and female firstgraders. No difference was found between the children in kindergarten and the children attending first grade and between maleand female children in kindergarten. The most common type of NSD, based on the Mladina’s classification, was type 1, followedby types 2 and 5.

金益泰 홍익대학교 산업기술연구소 1997 産業技術 Vol.7 No.-

Aluminium honeycomb sandwich elements have high flexural rigidity and strength per density. Their properties are very useful for build airplane and high speed ship which need lighter-weighted and more strengthened elements. In this paper, high strength and shear property of aluminum honeycomb sandwich structures certified for 3-point bending test and shear test were tested by A.S.T.M test method. And, test results are analyzed and compared in EMRC-NISA. The applied sandwich models have isotropic and symmetrical aluminium faces and aluminum honeycomb cores. It is considered of two plates of different thickness faces and different honeycomb cell size cores. The applied boundary condition is simple support.

      • 접착된 F.R.P 구조와 Foam Core 샌드위치구조에 대한 수치 강도 해석

        金益太,朴炯旼 弘益大學校 産業技術硏究所 2004 産業技術 Vol.14 No.-

A sandwich element is a special hybrid structural form of the composite construction, which is consisted of equal two orthotropic, stiff and strong sheets of dense material separated symmetrically by an isotropic layer which is much less stiff and strong. This study analyzed the variations of the stresses and strains of sandwich plates depending on material properties, thicknesses and stacking orientation of faces and three types of core material with simple hand-lay up F.R.P plates by computational method.

      • 샌드위치구조의 Wrinkling응력에 관한 연구

金益泰 홍익대학교 산업기술연구소 1996 産業技術 Vol.6 No.-

A sandwich element is a special Hybrid structural form of the composite construction, which is consisted of three main parts : thin, strong, stiff and relatively high density faces separated by a thick, light, and weaker core material. In a sandwich construction, the Wrinkling stresses of faces are of great importance since the core is a very thick in comparison with the thickness of the faces. Therefore, For the engineering purpose of sandwich panel design, the results are tabulated, which are calculated by using the In This paper is aimed to solve local buckling problem that can frequently occur when the high speed ship's hull of sandwich structural type is crushed by harbour and cargo. Experiment is performed on 16 specimens cut of 4-plates that made of sandwich type(Kevlar-Epoxy, di foam) and test specimen were tested by A.S.T.M test method. The result of this study is analyzed and compared in test method and test jig to perform Edgewise comperssive test.

      • 브랑쿠시의 美的 哲學과 抽象性 考察 : 새(鳥)시리즈, 물고기, 포가니 양, 티르구 지우앙상블을 중심으로 Birds series, The Fish, Pogany series, Tirgu-Jiu ensemble

金翊泰 효성여자대학교 산업미술연구소 1995 산업미술 Vol.5 No.-

Brancusi is widely accepted as the most important and original sculptor of this century, and his work dramaically shows the new responsiveness to form and materials that was central to the modern aesthetic. We can outline Brancusi's work and personality like this' "Metaphysical Background," "East-West", "Sculptor, Peasant and Philosopher in Paris", "From Material to Form", "Spatial Dynamism", "Role and Formation of the Pedestal". This various and complex notion represents Brancusi's abstruseness of primitivism, brilliancy of ancient arts, holiness of medieval thimes, sophistication of modern times. Brancusi, in particular, was as reponsive to the folk traditions of his homeland as he was to the demands of his own pioneering aesthetic. For a time after 1913 the sculptor was certainly influenced by the forms of african carving : but throughout his life he also maintained and developed a wide repertory of forms that were derived from Romanian folk art and architecture, as well as from other Slavonic, Egyptian, Buddhist, and Cycladic sculptural traditions. Althouth he lived in Paris rather than Romanian for a variety of cultural and economic reasons, until the lat 1940s he always maintained his connections with his country of origin, and created his greatest work there. Among Brancusi's works, bird series including "The Cock", are characterized by their abstraction, simplicity, and sophistication. Biomorphism, Constructivism (bases upon geometry), and Ready-made trends are clearly represent those Brancusi's works. Whther Brancusi's "Bird series" are derived from the shapes of living forms or not, they still have the tightness, the tension, and the refinememt obtained by Brancusi's consistent working. In the "Pogany series", Brancusi's philisophical knowledge, deflected geometry, and primitive ideas were emphasized. The ensemble of "Endless Column", "The Gate of the Kiss", and "The Table of the Silence" can be classified as enviroment sculpture. Geometrical precision and philosophical insight increased the value of Tirgu-giu ensemble. The spatial dynamism, the freedom and disire for openness, the meaning of a life and communionwere mysteriously mixed to represent the culmination of Brancusi's art. Brancusi's philosophical intelligence and artistic talent have contibuted to the beauty of his sculpture. Brancusi's creativeness and modern civilization made it possible Brancusi's works look elegant and sophisticated. In addition, Brancusi took advantage of bases to reinforce : they are sculpture itself. The releationship between the subject and base is like the relationship between the leaves-flower-stem and rotos of a plant. In general, it is said that Brancusi created his work on the basis of his intuition. His intuition, however, had been slowly developed by great effort, patience, manytrials and errors, at last, made people believe that he had kept ingenuity, creativeness, and intuitions. Brancusi influenced a great many modernist sculptors including Wilhelm Lehmbruck, Barbara Hepworth, Henry Moore, and David Smith, etc. Considering Brancusi's creativeness, philosophy, modernity, effrot, and evolutionary development, Brancusi's influence is not likely to die but fade away.
