      • Strategies for Promoting the Usage of Location-Based Services Based on Clustering and Association Rule Analysis

        The location-based services applications are increasingly be developed in today mobile service market to provide more add-value for both service providers and mobile phone users. However, without users’ active acceptance and continuous usage of LBS, the investment in time and money could be in vain. Lots of studies have been done regarding the acceptance and privacy issues related to location-based services. From empirical data, it is easy to explore the usage situation of location-based services for smart-phone users. However, it is difficult to understand the part of users who do not or rarely use location-based services since it is hard to tell the reason that those users do not use location-based services should be attribute to no interests to use LBS or they want to use but there are some unexpected reason that prevent them from disclosing their personal information. Therefore, in this study, smart-phone users were segmented into 5 clusters in terms of willingness to disclose information and real intention to try to use LBS. Subsequently the association rule analysis was applied to explore the characteristics in each cluster, and based on which results a comprehensive customer relationship management strategy was propose in order to promote the usage of location-based services.

        An Edutainment Game Prototype for Sasang Constitutional Food Therapy

        Objective : Recently many kinds of food therapies have sprung up to prevent or manage disease and to promote health. Seeing Korean history, the Korean medical doctors have been applying food therapy based on the thought that the dietary sources were as important as the medicine. Therefore, in this study, we designed a mobile edutainment game prototype with the goal of providing education about healthy food knowledge for users who belongs to different constitutional types. Materials and Method : We adopted the Sasang Constitutional Medicine as the medical background knowledge for our edutainment game design. Based on the user study, we developed the process of edutainment system which is composed of ‘My game’, ‘My constitution’, and ‘My food’. Among the whole process, we developed a prototype for the core module – the ‘My game’ part. This prototype used a jumping game for mobile devices that is composed of training, level 1 and level 2 stages. Results : From the target user evaluation, it was proved that 1) in terms of the learning effect of healthy diet, the edutainment game we developed has a significant advantage over the conventional learning media. 2) after playing the edutainment game, the good and bad food identification accuracy based on picture and text format were increased by 44% and 42% respectively, and 3) target users perceived enjoyment while using this prototype, as well as showed positive intention to use this game as edutainment tool in the future. Conclusion : We designed and developed mobile edutainment game prototype to educate healthy food knowledge based on Sasang Constitutional Medicine. Through user evaluation, we proved that our prototype enhanced healthy food knowledge and that user accepted the prototype as a beneficial edutainment tool.

      • Cleavage Furrow Formation for Avascular Tumor Growth based on Finite Element Modeling

        A number of studies have shown that the prevention and cure of malignant tumors may become much easier if growth mechanisms, such as the role of cleavage furrow formation in tumor cell division, could be discovered and understood in the earlier avascular phase. Although it is well known that metazoan mitotic spindle which is one of the most important substances during the cytokinesis of a cell division determines the position of the cleavage furrow formation, we are still on the verge of solving the puzzle of what molecules and how they control the formation of the cleavage furrow. In this paper, we propose a cleavage furrow formation approach based on finite element method, which combines nodes selection, mesh partition and matrix assembly in a total energy equation, for modeling the mechanisms of avascular tumor growth. We also perform several experiments. Results show that, by using our proposed approach for the avascular tumor growth, the positions of cleavage furrows are decided not only chemically but also physically and tumor cells are not symmetric, which demonstrates the effectiveness of our proposed approach.

      • Combing Customizable Configuration and Interactive Control to Simulate Juicing and Filling Production Line

        Both the rapid growth of global economy and the rapid improvement in living conditions have witnessed an explosive requirement of foods that are rich of vitamin. Juice beverage, as one kind of these foods, is very popular among people of all ages due to its higher portability and easier preservability. However, there are many issues, such as a very low device utilization rate, a very long design period and an inflexible manufacturing process, by using the traditional juicing and filling production line. The introduction of virtual reality simulation technologies can not only detect bottlenecks of the production line during design period, but also process fruits according to seasons for improving the total efficiency of one single production line. In this paper, we combine customizable configuration and interactive control to design and implement a simulation system of juicing and filling production line based on the traditional client-server architecture. Practical applications show that the developed simulation system can not only shorten effectively the design period but also improve greatly the design quality.

        Local Bond Stress-Slip Model of High-Strength Stainless Steel Wire Ropes in ECC

        Engineered cementitious composites (ECC) reinforced with high-strength stainless steel wire ropes (HSSSWR) is a new composite that has attracted much attention. Comprehensive understanding of the local bond stress-slip relationship of HSSSWR in ECC is a significant aspect to popularize the application of this new composite. In this research, the local bond stress-slip relationship between HSSSWR and ECC was investigated experimentally and theoretically, considering the influences of bond lengths, nominal diameters of HSSSWR and compressive strength of ECC. In order to accurately predict the bond stress and slip at different positions along the embedded length, a local bond stress-slip model was proposed for HSSSWR-ECC interface, and the model parameters were determined based on the pull-out test results and microsegment analysis of HSSSWR in ECC by using a nested iteration procedure. Furthermore, the three-dimension (3D) nonlinear finite element (FE) modeling method by using the proposed model was used to predict the bond-slip performance of HSSSWR in ECC. Finally, the global load-slip relationships calculated by using the iterative procedure and the 3D FE modeling method were compared with test results, which validated the acceptability of the developed local bond stress-slip model and the FE modeling method.

        Theoretical Prediction Model for Surface Settlement Caused by the Excavation of New Tunnels Undercrossing Existing Tunnels Based on Modified Stochastic Medium Theory

        The deformation pattern of the stratum caused by constructing a new metro tunnel crossing an existing tunnel is different from the deformation pattern caused by general tunnel construction. However, the prediction results by the ordinary surface settlement prediction model often bring significant errors because the complex influence of existing tunnels on the surface settlement caused by the excavation of new tunnels is always neglected. Based on the equivalent layered method and stochastic medium theory, a prediction model for the surface settlement due to excavating a new tunnel under an existing tunnel in the heterogeneous stratum was established. By equating the bending stiffness of an existing tunnel before and after applying the equivalent layered method, the layer index was determined. The critical parameters of the stochastic medium theory were derived based on the relationship between the critical parameters of both the Peck empirical formula and the stochastic medium theory. The surface settlement of some typical projects was predicted and compared by the prediction model in this paper and the ordinary prediction model. The comparison shows that the proposed prediction model and parameter determination method in this paper had high accuracy and applicability. The results of the prediction model in this paper fit the results of numerical calculation. The research of this paper can provide a new method for the theoretical prediction of surface settlement caused by the excavation of a new tunnel under an existing tunnel in the heterogeneous stratum and the determination of critical parameters of the stochastic medium theory.problem in the construction industry, and helps reducing the material waste and budget cost.
