        NF-κB 억제를 통한 대회향(大茴香)의 항염증효능

        Objectives : Illicium verum Hook. f. has been known to possess antimicrobial, antioxidant, antifungal, anti-inflammatory, insecticidal, analgesic, sedative, convulsive activities, it has been rarely conducted to evaluate the immuno-biological activity. The present study was examined to evaluate the anti-inflammatory effects of the Illicium verum Hook. f. water extracts (IVE) in vivo and in vitro. Methods : Cell viability was measured by MTT assay. The relative levels of NO were measured with Griess reagent. iNOS, COX-2, $NF-{\kappa}B$ and target proteins were detected by immunoblot analysis, and levels of cytokines were analyzed by ELISA kit. Anti-edema effect was determined in the carrageenan (CA)-induced paw edema model in rats. Results : All dosages of IVE used in MTT assay had no significant cytotoxicity. The increases of NO production and iNOS expression were detected in LPS-treated cells compared with control. However, these increases were attenuated by treatment with IVE. Also, IVE reduced the elevated production of $TNF-{\alpha}$, $IL-1{\beta}$ and IL-6 by LPS. IVE inhibited the $p-I{\kappa}B$ and translocation of $NF-{\kappa}B$ to nuclear. Furthermore, IVE significantly inhibited the increases of hind paw swelling, skin thicknesses and inflammatory cell infiltrations induced by CA injection. Therefore, IVE will be favorably inhibited the acute edematous inflammations. Conclusion : These results provide evidences that anti-inflammatory effect of IVE is partly due to the reduction of some inflammatory mediators by suppression of $NF-{\kappa}B$ pathway.

        강서구시설관리공단 운영사례

        구법(灸法)과 intense pulsed light(IPL)의 특성 비교 및 광선구(光線灸)의 한방임상(韓方臨床) 활용(活用)

        Objectives : The purpose of this study is to compare the principles between moxibustion and the 'Intense pulsed light (IPL)' and to investigate the clinical application of the photo-moxa for the Korean medicine fields. Methods : The characteristics of moxibustion, IPL, parabolic reflector moxa and the dermatology surgical use of moxibustion were reviewed in the literature. Results : IPL is one type of light treatments that is employed by radiating the short-pulse wave, which is transformed from the light of high intensity. There has been used parabolic reflector in Asia for more than 2,000 years, and this hand-held device used for moxibustion in traditional medicine. Moxibustion is one of the treatment tools in Korean medicine using the heat energy. The fluence or energy density of IPL in clinical circumstances is similar to parabolic reflector moxa of moxibustion. IPL and parabolic reflector moxa shared same treatment principle employing the heat energy. Therefore IPL could apply for many indications in Korean medicine as a moxibustion tool and acupuncture. Conclusions: IPL may be plausible to be a fascinate method in phototherapy of Korean medicine.

        Exocarpium Citrulli is the cortex of Fructus Citrulli. In Korean traditional medicine, it has been used to treat edema, dysuria, mouth and tongue sores. Although Exocarpium Citrulli has been known to possess anti-cancer activity, it has been rarely conducted to evaluate the anti-inflammatory activity. The present study was examined to evaluate the anti-inflammatory effects of the Exocarpium Gitrulli EtOH extracts (ECE) in vitro. Inflammatory mediators were detected after the addition of LPS with or without ECE in Raw 264.7 macrophage cell lines. LPS plays a key role in leading to the massive production of pro-inflammatory cytokines, such as TNF-a, 1L-1β and IL-6 in macrophages. In this study, cell viability assay (MTT assay) was conducted to determine the non-cytotoxic concentration of ECE. The dosages (0.1 and 0.3 mg/ml of ECE used in this study had no significant cytotoxicity during the experimental period. The relative level of NO was measured with Griess reagent. Pro-inflammatory cytokines were detected by EUSA assay. The cell was treated with 1 μg/ml of LPS 1 h before adding ECE. The level of NO and cytokines (TNF-a, IL-1β) in culture medium was increased by LPS application. However, these increases were attenuated by treatment with ECE.

        척추마취 후 제왕절개술 시행한 산모에 합병된 페전색 1 례

        The maternal mortality rate continued to decline since 1940. However, pulmonary thromboembolism, first identified as the leading cause of maternal death in 1970s, continues to account for an increasing proportion of maternal deaths. The main or major cause of maternal deaths were pulmonary thromboembolism, heamorrhage, ectopic pregnancy, pregnancy induced hypertension complication and infection. Recently, deaths by pulmonary thromboembolism may be becoming more importent as a cause of maternal death. We present a cause of fatal pulmonary emblosim, which was diagnosed by lung-perfusion scan and pulmonary angiography on the postoperative 2 day after cesarean section for which the patient was given a spinal anaesthesia. In our knowledge, we belive it to be the first time this problem case following spinal anesthesia for casarean section has been reported in Korea.

        탄소 착상기법이 스텐트 내 재협착에 미치는 영향:다기관 무작위 연구

        Background and Objectives :Heavy metal ions released from a stainles stel stent can induce an inflammatory reaction that might be associated with in-stent restenosis. A carbon ion implantation technique, which physi -and improve the biocompatibility. This study was designed to evaluate the eficacy of a carbon ion implanted Arthosinert stent on the reduction of in-stent restenosis and the improvement in the clinical outcomes. Subjects and Methods :193 de novo coronary lesions in 191 anginal patients at 14 centers, with reference diameters from 2.75 to 4.5 mm, were randomly assigned to either an Arthosinert (10 patients, 102 lesions) or an Arthos (9 1 pa -tients, 9 1 lesions) stent. The lesion length was 14.1± 5.7 mm. The ACC/AHA (American College of Cardio -logy/American Heart Association) lesion classifications were A :1 1:36.8%, B2 :35.8% and C :12.4%. The study end points are angiographic restenosis, during a six-month folow-up, and Major adverse cardiac event. In-stent restenosis was defined as a diameter of stenosis ≥50%. Results:A six-month angiographic fol -low-up was obtained for 72.3% ( 138/191) of the subjects. There were no significant differences between the Arthosinert and Arthos groups in the rates of restenosis ( 17.8% vs. 3 1.8%, p=0.055) and Target vessel revascula -rization (7.0% vs. 11.0%, p=0.476). There were no deaths or non-fatal myocardial infarction in either group. Conclusion :The treatment of de novo coronary stenosis, with carbon ion implanted stents, showed a tendency 16L stainless steel stents. A larger tr -ial will be needed to confirm the efficacy of the carbon ion implanted stent. 배경 및 목적: 금속 재질의 스텐트 표면에서 방출 되는 몇 가지 중금속 이온들이 주위 조직의 염증 반응을 일으키며 스텐트 재협착과 관련이 있을 것으로 생각 되고 있다. 스텐트 표면에 특수한 방법으로 탄소 입자를 코팅할 경우 표면에서 방출 되는 중금속 이온을 줄여 생물학적 적합성을 향상 시킬 수 있다. 본 연구는 스텐트 표면을 특수한 방법으로 탄소화한 Arthosinert스텐트를 사용하여 스텐트 재협착 및 임상 경과에 미치는 영향을 평가 하고자 하였다. 방 법: 191명 협심증 환자를 대상으로 14개 기관이 연구에 참여 하였다. 참조 혈관 내경이 2.75~4.5 m인 193개의 de novo 병변에 대해 Arthosinert(10명, 102병변)와 Arthos(91명, 91병변) 스텐트를 무작위로 선택하여 시술하였으며 병변의 길이는 14.1 ± 5.7 mm, ACC/ AHA병변 분류는 A:15.0%, B1:36.8%, B2:35.8%, C:12.4%였다. 연구 종말점은 6개월 추적 관동맥 조영의 스텐트 재협착과 중대한 심장 관련 합병증(사망, 심근 경색, 표적 혈관 재관류술)으로 하였다. 스텐트 재협착은 내경 협착이 50% 이상인 경우로 하였다. 결 과: 6개월 추적 관동맥 조영술이 72.3%(138/191)에서 시행 되었다. Arthosinert와 Arthos 스텐트 군 사이에 스 텐트 재협착(17.8% vs 31.8%, p=0.055), 표적 혈관 재관류술(7.0% vs 11.0%, p=0.476)의 유의한 차이 가 관찰 되지 않았다. 두 스텐트 군에서 심근 경색이나 사망은 한 건도 발생하지 않았다. 결 론: de novo 관동맥 병변의 치료에 있어서 탄소 착상 스 텐트는 316L stainless 스텐트에 비해 스텐트 재협착률 이 낮은 경향을 보였으며 향후 더 큰 규모의 연구가 필 요 하다고 생각 되었다.

        Light beacon structures are very essential to the maneuvering of ship especially in the night. The power is usually from the rechargeable battery connected to solar panel which generates electricity from the sunlight. There are two types of structures, one is floating and the other is fixed. In this study, we are dealing with the new power generation system motivated by the wave motion for the floating light beacon. The basic principle of new system is transforming wave motion into electricity by the solenoid that composed of circular tube coiled around and magnetic inside. We succeeded in generating electricity in the lab test using the motion actuator. On the basis of lab test experience it is applied to the real field, Samchuk port. The power unit is installed in the floating light buoy and generating electricity when the inclination of the buoy is beyond the certain limit. The amount of electricity depends on the wave height and wave period. The purpose of field test is to clarify the relationship between the wave condition and electricity.
