서구 사회에 소개된 〈황조가〉의 양상 고찰

This paper focuses on introducing three different English translations of “Yellow Birds Song” which was published in the early 20th Century. It compares three different translations, explains the differences of the background stories fromthe original content, and discusses the translators’ ideologies in translation and the purpose of Korean poem translations. The three translators are James S. Gale, a Canadian missionary, Joan S. Grigsby, a Scot poet, and Younghill Kang, Korean-American novelist. They translated the poemof “Yellow Birds Song” which was written in 17 BC by King Yuri of Koguryo, and they cited the translated poeminto the book ofHistory of the Korean People(1928, a book of history),The Orchid Door(1935, a book of poetry), andThe Grass Roof(1931, novel) respectively. They each used the same poembut written in different languages. These different original poems influenced their translations. Gale used the poemwritten in Chinese, Grigsby used the English translation by Gale, and Kang used the Korean song. Gale’s translation is similar to Chinese poem. Grigsby’s translation is free style because she couldn’t understand the original content and tried to adjust to the western style. Kang’s translation is close to the original Korean song. These three translations are different because of their different ideologies in translation. First, Gale put an importance in Korean literature and understanding ofWestern readers. Thus, he tried to be faithful to the original and at the same time, compose his translation as an English poem. Second, Grigsby didn’t even try to translate close to original content, because she felt that characteristics of Korean literature was not important in translation. She thought literal translation of Korean poems couldn’t appeal to average western readers. Third, Kang did his best to be faithful to the original Korean song because he thought Korean songs had ardent sense. These translators translated the background story of the book of SamKookSaKi(三國史記) differently because they have different purpose of Korean poem translations. First, Gale tried to provide the story in detail, and added his opinions as a missionary and historian because he wanted to introduce Korea as a country with a long history and rich literature. Second, Grigsy summarized the story very succinctly because she focused on the ancient beauty of Korean poems rather than the long history, Third, Kang changed whole story in his novel because he tried to show the harsh reality of those days when it was under the Japanese control. His translation of Korean song expresses their pride and deep grief over the country lost.

A Case Study on the Educational Effectiveness of Online English Content Using the Storytelling Learning Method: Focusing on Students’ Perceptions and Opinions

This is a case study designed to determine the educational effect of online English content using the Storytelling Learning Method (SLM). The study focused on the course Learning English through Film offered by a cyber university in Seoul. A survey was conducted among 1,024 students from 86 universities who participated in the course. The course was based on the film A Dog’s Way Home (Smith, 2019) and followed the story of the film for 15 weeks over a semester. At the end of the semester, a survey was carried out to assess the following: 1) satisfaction with the online English learning content and improvement of English skills, 2) the effectiveness of SLM, and 3) students’ perceptions of their English skill improvement. The survey results revealed that 76% of the students found the SLM to be effective, and 92% expressed their interest and active participation in the course. In addition, 80% of the students reported that the online classes were more helpful in learning English, with listening and understanding context identified as the most improved language skills. These findings support the effectiveness of strategically structured course content utilizing SLM in terms of enhancing students’ motivation to learn and their academic achievements.

『방한림전』의 중첩된 갈등구조

『방한림전』에는 갈등이 중첩되어 있다. 이를 등장인물 간 갈등과 방관주의 내적 갈등으로 나누어본다면, 등장인물 간 갈등에는 방관주와 유모 영혜빙과의 갈등을 들 수 있고, 내적 갈등으로는 성별 불일치에 대한 불편과 타인에 대한 불신 등을 들 수 있다. 유모와의 갈등은 기존의 규범과 방관주의 가치관이 대립각을 세우며 방관주의 주장이 우세를 점하는 과정을 보여주며, 영혜빙과의 갈등은 젠더의 차이에 따라 관계가 흔들릴 수 있는 가부장적 사회의 부부관계에 대한 문제의식을 드러낸다. 내적 갈등의 면에서 방관주는 성 역할 고정관념과 본모습 사이에서 갈등하며, 이 갈등은 황제와의 대화를 통해 많은 부분 해소되고 있다. 이처럼 『방한림전』에서 갈등은 중첩적이고 다층적으로 존재하며, 이를 완화하거나 해소하려는 방관주의 노력이 서사 전개의 원동력이 되고 있다. 이러한 갈등과 해소는 작품 전체의 긴장을 유지하게 하며, 독자에게 흥미를 지속시키는 역할을 담당하고 있다. 나아가 이러한 중첩적 갈등은 당대의 성 역할 고정관념의 타파가 하나의 방법으로 해결될 문제가 아니라 복잡하게 얽힌 문제라는 점을 드러낸다. 작가는 실타래와 같은 여러 갈등을 첨예하게 드러내며 조심스럽게 수차례에 걸쳐 풀어내고 있다. 작가에 따르면, 성 역할 고정관념에 대한 파격과 균열은 기존 가치관과의 치열한 갈등을 낳는 동시에, 조력자와의 관계에서 상호 간에 가부장제 가족관계에 대한 반성과 성찰이 동반될 필요가 있고, 당사자의 내적 갈등과 고뇌를 감내하며 구조 개혁이 뒤따라야 한다. The overlapped conflict appear in Banghanlimjeon. In terms of the protagonist Bang Gwan-ju’s external and internal conflicts, Bang Gwan-ju experiences conflicts with the nanny and Yeong Hye-bing, and internally suffers from gender incongruence and the fear of being outed and mistrust of other people. Bang Gwan-ju lives socially as a man and attempts to alleviate and resolve such conflicts. To the nanny, Bang invokes his authority as the head of the household and forces her to keep his secret. To Yeong Hye-bing, he asks her to keep his secret as his closest friend while emphasizing his position as her husband. Internally, Bang Gwan-ju is sorrowful and melancholy but covers such emotions with confidence in his ability and high self-esteem and attempts to rationalize and justify his action of hiding his gender through circumstantial evidence and shifting the blame on others. Conflicts in Banghanlimjeon are overlapping and multilayered, and Bang Gwan-ju’s efforts to alleviate and resolve such conflicts become the driving force of the narrative. The existence and resolution of such conflicts maintain the tension throughout the work and captivate its readers.

Whole-genome resequencing analysis of 20 Micro-pigs

Background Miniature pigs have been increasingly used as mammalian model animals for biomedical research because of their similarity to human beings in terms of their metabolic features and proportional organ sizes. However, despite their importance, there is a severe lack of genome-wide studies on miniature pigs. Objective In this study, we performed whole-genome sequencing analysis of 20 Micro-pigs obtained from Medi Kinetics to elucidate their genomic characteristics. Results Approximately 595 gigabase pairs (Gb) of sequence reads were generated to be mapped to the swine reference genome assembly (Sus scrofa 10.2); on average, the sequence reads covered 99.15% of the reference genome at an average of 9.6-fold coverage. We detected a total of 19,518,548 SNPs, of which 8.7% were found to be novel. With further annotation of all of the SNPs, we retrieved 144,507 nonsynonymous SNPs (nsSNPs); of these, 5968 were found in all 20 individuals used in this study. SIFT prediction for these SNPs identified that 812 nsSNPs in 402 genes were deleterious. Among these 402 genes, we identified some genes that could potentially affect traits of interest in Micro-pigs, such as RHEB and FRAS1. Furthermore, we performed runs of homozygosity analysis to locate potential selection signatures in the genome, detecting several loci that might be involved in phenotypic characteristics in Micro-pigs, such as MSTN, GDF5, and GDF11. Conclusion In this study, we identified numerous nsSNPs that could be used as candidate genetic markers with involvement in traits of interest. Furthermore, we detected putative selection footprints that might be associated with recent selection applied to miniature pigs.

This study was designed to exam the aged's needs for spiritual nursing care. The purpose was to serve as a basis for the development of spiritual nursing practice. The major findings are as follows : 1. The degree of needs for spiritual nursing care as area was that needs of love and relationship mean 22.0, needs of meaning and object mean 28.2, needs of forgiving mean 13.5. Total needs for spiritual nursing care mean 63.7, which was on the upper middle level. The needs of meaning and object was rated highest. 2. Among the general characteristics of the subjects, needs of love and relatiohship wasn't significanlty different. 3. Among the general characteristics of the subjects, needs of meaning and object was significantly different according to two factors : age(F=7.260, p=0.001), religion(F=5.275, p=0.001). Higher needs of meaning and object was possessed by the older than the younger, by the one who have religion than the other. 4. Among the general characteristics of the subjects, four factors made a significantly difference to needs of forgiving : sex(t=-2.851, p=0.006), age(F=8.201, p=0.001), religion(F=6.928, p=0.000), disease(t=2.327, p=0.024). Higher needs of forgiving was possessed by man than woman, by the older than the younger, by the one who have religion than the other, by the one who have disease than the other.

음반자료에 기록된 삼현육각 음악에 대한 연구 -악곡 및 연주자를 중심으로-

본 연구는 1996년 임혜정이 조사한 삼현육각 음반 목록과 _한국음반학_, _국악연감_의 음반 목록 중 삼현육각 관련 악곡을 대상으로 진행되었다. 유성기․LP․CD 음반에 실린 삼현육각 음반 목록을 정리하고 수록된 악곡과 연주자들을 중심으로 삼현육각 음악을 연구하였다. Columbia 유성기 음반에는 서울 경기 지역의 삼현육각 악곡과 평양과 봉산의 탈춤에 사용된 삼현육각 악곡이 수록되어 있었고, Victor 유성기 음반에는 무용 반주 음악으로 사용된 삼현육각 악곡이 주로 수록되어 있었다. 한편, 1906년 녹음되어 1907년 발매된 Victor 음반에 실린 최초의 삼현 육각 악곡이 2015년에 발굴되었는데 이는 삼현육각 악곡이 실린 최초의 음반으로 음악사적으로 큰 가치를 가진다. LP 음반에는 모두 경기 지역에서 연주했던 삼현육각이 무용곡으로 사용된 것만 녹음되어 있음을 확인할 수 있었다. 1990년대 후반부터는 개별 연주자를 중심으로 주로 무속 음악에 사용된 삼현육각 CD 음반이 다수 발매되었다. 2000년대에 들어서는 국립문화재연구소와 국립국악원을 중심으로 전통음악의 보존과 전승을 위한 시리즈 형식의 음반 중에 삼현육각 음반이 활발하게 제작되었다. 2010년대에 와서는 CD 음반을 따로 발매하기 보다는 디지털 음원만 발표하는 경우가 많아지면서 삼현육각 CD 음반의 발매수도 현저히 줄어들었다. 삼현육각 음반에 대한 연구는 삼현육각 음악의 변천 과정과 지역별 삼현육각 음악의 특성 파악, 궁중과 민간․무속음악인들의 음악 교류 양상 파악 등을 위해 필요하다. 앞으로 삼현육각 음반에 수록된 악곡과 연주자들에 관한 더 심층적인 연구가 이루어지길 바란다. This study was conducted on music related to Samhyun-yukgak record list among the 1996 Im, Hye-jung"s study and the _Korean discography_ and _Gugak-yearbook_. It compiled a list of Samhyun-yukgak on the phonograph records, LP and CD records and studied Samhyun-yukgak music based on the music pieces and musicians. Columbia phonograph records contained Samhyun-yukgak music pieces of the Seoul, Gyeonggi and Samhyun-yukgak music pieces used for mask dance of the Pyongyang, Bongsan. Victor phonograph records contained Samhyun-yukgak music pieces used for dance accompaniment. On the one hand, the first Samhyun-yukgak music peices in Victor record, recorded in 1906 and released in 1907, was unearthed in 2015. These are the first Samhyun-yukgak music records and great value in music. The LP records showed that the Samhyun-yukgak, all played in the Gyeonggi area, were recorded only used dance accompaniment. Since the late 1990s, individual performers have been released a number of Samhyun-yukgak CD records, mostly used in shaman music. In the 2000s, Samhyun-yukgak records were produced actively as the series-type records for the preservation and transfer of traditional music by the "National Research Institute of Cultural Heritage" and "National Gugak Center". Come in 2010s, the number of CD releases feature Samhyun-yukgak is significantly reduced with increasing Digital Sound. A Study on the Samhyun-yukgak records are necessary for understanding the transition process of Samhyun-yukgak, the regional characteristic of Samhyun-yukgak, and the music exchange aspect among court, folk and shaman musicians. I hope that in the future, more in-depth research will be done on the music pieces and the musicians in Samhyun-yukgak records.

일반논문 : 산간지역 주민의 의식구조적 특성 -홍천군 산간지역 설화를 중심으로

본고는 홍천 산간 지역의 설화를 사회, 역사, 지배적 이념 등의 사회문화적 토대 하에서 천착해서 그 안에 내재한 산간 지역민의 사회, 역사, 의식, 무의식 구조 등을 추출하고자 했다. 우선 내촌에서 채록되고 있는 일련의 설화는 우리나라 광포설화이면서 각각 독립된 이야기로 전하는 <부자 망한 이야기>와 <아기장수>설화가 서로 연계되어 구성되어 있다는 특징을 보였는데 이는 결국 내촌, 두촌 지역이 이전에는 아주 흥청거리다가 망하게 된 역사적 사실을 반영한다고 보았다. 왜냐하면 이곳은 이전에는 광산(철광, 금광)이 있던 곳으로 이전에는 상당히 번성했던 곳이기 때문이다. 설화는 역사나 철학적 사유의 또 다른 언술방식으로서 전씨 부자가 망하게 된 것은 이렇듯이 흥성했다가 쇠망하게 된 이 지역의 경제적 실상이나 심적 아쉬움, 회한 등의 복합적 감정이 문학적 장치 속에서 재탄생된 것으로 보았다. 결국 흥행과 쇠락이라는 일련의 과정을 제시하고 있는 것이 전씨부자 망하는 이야기 담의 문법구조인 것이다. 아기장수는 일제강점기의 좌절된 영웅이야기로 보았으며 이곳이 일제강점기 독립만세운동이 일어나고 확산되었던 역사를 상기해서 민초들의 아픈 역사들이 날줄 씨줄로 직조되면서 아기장수 설화로 재탄생되었을 것이라고 결론내릴 수 있다. 내면에서는 권대감설화가 지배적이었는데, 권대감 설화의 특징은 설화와 신앙이 함께 접목되어 있다는 것이었다. 권대감이 신이성을 획득하게 되는 징표나 이곳에 자리 잡을 수밖에 없었던 개연성, 주민들의 이런 저런 갈등을 해소시켜 주었던 상징성 등이 반영되면서 이념의 날씨 씨줄로 직조된 것이 바로 권대감 설화이며, 권대감은 이곳 사람들을 품위 있게 결속시키는 구시점적 역할과 기능을 했었기에 내면에서는 권대감 신앙이 오랫동안 지속될 수 있었을 것이고 아직도 진행된다고 보았다. 결론적으로 권대감 신앙을 내면 주민의 오랜 자존심이며 결속 대상물이라는 원형성을 함유한다. This paper was trying to extract the society, history, consciousness, subconscious structure of the mountain villagers throughout folklore by studying them about Hongcheon-gun mountainous territory under sociocultural foundation, such as society, history, the dominant ideology, and so on. The results are as follows. First, a series of tales being recorded in Naechon is Kang-po tales of our country, and they showed that folk tales, <The story of the downfall of the rich>(the story like the folk tale of Jang-ja pond) and <the baby hero>, were composed of and related to one another. These finally reflect the historical fact that in the past, these regions of Naechon and DuChon were well off, but is badly off now. If folk tales are another way for descriptive language about history and philosophical views, the downfall of the rich Jeon family is what reflected the real history of these areas. It seemed that mixed emotions were born again in literary devices, such as the real state of these regions being well off, but badly off, or a sense of futility, and remorse, and so on. It seemed that the baby hero is a frustrated hero story of Period of Japanese Occupation; These places reminded us of the history that the independence movement rose and spread in Period of Japanese Occupation. It concluded that the sad history of Korea was born again as a folk tale of the baby hero, weaving it with the latitude and longitude. In Ne-myeon, a folk tale of His Excellency Kwen was prominent; the characteristics of the folk talk of His Excellency Kwen was combined with folk tales and myths a folk tale of His Excellency Kwen was presumed to be reflected as a certain prop and the pride or a sense of wonder to people in Ne-myeon owing to the power of influence of His Excellency Kwen , who is of royal blood and the most literate stratum. It is the very folk tale of His Excellency Kwen to be weaved with the latitude and longitude of ideas, reflecting the sign that Kwen acquired noble and extraordinary, and the probability that he cannot help residing in this area, and the symbolism having resolved a variety of conflicts of residents and so on. His Excellency Kwen played the pivotal role and took the function as connecting nobly one another. In Ne-myeon, His Excellency Kwen Faith can withstand long and seemed to have continued. To sum up, It included the Archetype, which the His Excellency Kwen Faith is old pride of residents and the objection of community solidarity. Accordingly, I could found the real state, history, subconscious thought of the mountain villagers throughout folk tales of Hongcheon-gun mountainous territory, and folk tales were weaved with the latitude and longitude, such as the history of the region, ideals, consciousness and the subconscious structure, because of what made from literary attainments.
