Background : In recent years, gonorrhea has been panedemic and remains one of the most commom STDs in the world, especially in developing countries. Objective & Methods: For the detection of a more effective therapeutic regimen and assessing the prevalence of PPNG, we have been trying to study the patients who have visited the VD Clinic of Choong-Ku Public Health Center in Seoul since 1980 by means of the chromogenic cephalosporin method. Results: In 1996, 139 strains of N. gonorrhoeae were isolated, among which 53(39.0%) were PPNG. Conclusion: Our results suggests that after a peak of 74.3% in 1993, the prevalence of PPNG in Seoul is gradually declining.

본 연구에서는 일 방향 CFRP 복합재 튜브에서 나타나는 상이한 압궤특성의 일관성을 보이고자 하며, 또한 계면수가 에너지 흡수능력의 함수인지 아닌지를 결정하고자 한다. 계면수는 최외층각도 0?를 갖는 4가지 형태(계면수는 2, 3, 6, 7 개)이며, 각 튜브에 압궤하중이 가해졌을 때 그 응답은 압궤과정을 제어하는 상이한 메카니즘 사이에서의 상호작용에 의존하고 그것을 매우 복잡하다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 정적 및 충격압궤실험을 행하고, 그 결과 계면함수, g(k)에 대해 정의하였다. 또한 일반적으로 [0/90〕_(2s) 적층된 CFRP 튜브가 더 높은 에너지를 흡수하였으며, 이론적 및 실험적 데이터는 서로 일치하였다. The objective of this paper is to present a consistent description of the different collapse characteristics exhibited by uni-directional CFRP(Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastics) composite tubes and determine whether the energy-absorption capability of these tubes is a function interlaminar number. Tube interlaminar number was 4 types (2, 3, 6 and 7) included ply orientation angle of outer was 0. When such tubes are subjected to crushing loads, the response is complex and depends on the interaction between the different mechanisms that control the crushing process. In this study static and impact collapse test were performed and the results have been shown as a function interlaminar number(g(k)). In general, the stacking sequence [0/90〕_(2s) CFRP tubes absorbed more energy than other tubes, theoretical and experimental data were to be likely each other.
서해 태안반도 연안에서 오터트롤에 채집된 저서생물의 종조성 및 계절변동

To investigate specie composition and seasonal variation of demersal organisms in the coastal waters off the Taean peninsula, otter trawl surveys were conducted from April 2010 to January 2011. A total of 75 species were collected including 44 species of Pisces, 19 species of Crustacea, 6 species of Cephalopoda, 4 species of Gastropoda, and I spe-cies each of Bivalvia and Echinoidea. The dominant species in each season were Palaemon gravieri in spring, Cha-rybdis bimaculata in summer, Loligo japonica in autumn, and Crangon hakodatei in winter. The number of species, individuals and biomass were highest in autumn and lowest in winter. The diversity index was highest in summer and lowest in winter. The dominance index was highest in winter and lowest in summer. The richness index was highest in autumn and lowest in winter. The evenness index was highest in summer and lowest in autumn. A cluster analysis showed that demersal organisms were divided into two groups; spring and winter organisms (Group 1) and summer and autumn organisms (Group 2). We detected a significant difference (P<0.05) between these groups, mainly owing to Platycephalus indicus, Repomucenus koreanus, and Paralichthys olivaceus within Pisces: Trachysalambria curvi-rostris, Metapenaeopsis dalei, P. gravieri and C. hakodatei within Crustacea: and L. japonica within Cephalopoda.
Clinical correlation between serum pepsinogen level and gastric atrophy in gastric neoplasm

Background/Aims: The relationship between the serum pepsinogen (sPG) level and changes in gastric mucosa has been well studied. Here, we evaluated the usefulness of sPG (I, II, I/II ratio) and intragastric pH as a biomarker of severe gastric atrophy in gastric neoplastic lesions. Methods: A total of 186 consecutive Korean patients with gastric neoplastic lesions underwent endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) in this study. The serologic atrophy group had sPG I level ≤ 70 ng/mL and an sPG I/II ratio ≤ 3.0. Before ESD, overnight fasting venous blood and gastric juice samples were collected to measure the sPG level and intragastric pH. The degree of gastric atrophy was estimated by endoscopy, and the rapid urease test was performed to investigate Helicobacter pylori infection. Results: Patients who met the criteria of serologic atrophy showed more severe endoscopic atrophic changes (61% vs. 18%, p = 0.000). Older patients and those with more atrophic changes at the gastric upper body demonstrated both a lower sPG I level and a lower PG I/II ratio and more severe endoscopic atrophy. The sPG I/II ratio was the lowest in low grade dysplasia than in high grade dysplasia and early gastric cancer (EGC) (p = 0.015). In addition, patients who tested negative for serologic atrophy and H. pylori showed the lowest intragastric pH (p = 0.000). Conclusions: A low sPG I level and a low I/II ratio were correlated with the severity of gastric atrophy in gastric neoplastic lesions, thus indicating it to be a sensitive biomarker of gastric precancerous lesions or EGC.

<P>CONCLUSIONS: The positivity rate of FIT was lower in the summer, and the performance of the FIT screening program was influenced by seasonal variations in Korea. These results suggest that more efforts to reduce interval cancer during the summer are needed in population-based screening programs using FIT, particularly in countries with high ambient temperatures.</P>

Glycogenic hepatopathy (GH) is an uncommon cause of serum transaminase elevation in type I diabetes mellitus (DM). The clinical signs and symptoms of GH are nonspecific, and include abdominal discomfort, mild hepatomegaly, and transaminase elevation. In this report we describe three cases of patients presenting serum transaminase elevation and hepatomegaly with a history of poorly controlled type I DM. All of the cases showed sudden elevation of transaminase to more than 30 times the upper normal range (like in acute hepatitis) followed by sustained fluctuation (like in relapsing hepatitis). However, the patients did not show any symptom or sign of acute hepatitis. We therefore performed a liver biopsy to confirm the cause of liver enzyme elevation, which revealed GH. Clinicians should be aware of GH so as to prevent diagnostic delay and misdiagnosis, and have suffi cient insight into GH; this will be aided by the present report of three cases along with a literature review.
저항 Scaption 동적 초음파를 이용한 극상건 부분 파열의 진단

극상건의 부분 파열(partial thickness tear)이 자기공명영상이나 Middleton, Crass position하의 정적초음파영상에서는 관찰되지 않는 경우가 있다. 저자들은 견관절의 extension position에서 저항 scaption (resisted scaption 또는 scapular plane abduction)을 이용한 동적초음파 검사를 이용하면 다른 영상의학적 도구나 자세에서 진단을 놓칠 수 있는 극상건의 부분 파열도 효과적으로 관찰할 수 있음을 여러 증례를 통하여 경험하였다. 현재까지 극상건 부분 파열을 진단하기 위한 동적 검사 방법은 문헌으로 보고된 적이 없었던 바, 이에 두 증례를 통하여 저항 scaption을 이용한 동적 초음파에 대한 저자들의 술기를 보고하고자 한다. Magnetic resonance imaging and static ultrasound imaging do not indicate some cases of partial thickness tears of the supraspinatus tendon. The authors observed a partial thickness tear of the supraspinatus tendon that was not found using other imaging tools but was observed by resisted scaption in shoulder extension position dynamic ultrasound in several cases. This paper outlines this technique is reported by describing two cases.
홍삼추출물에 의한 유전독성 감소효과(Ⅱ) - 배양 NIH3T3 세포에서 MMS에 의한 유전독성의 감소에 미치는 홍삼추출물 처리효과

알킬화제인 MMS에 의한 유전독성의 감소에 미치는 홍삼추출물의 영향을 배양 NIH3T3 세포계에서 분석하였다. ImM의 MMS를 30분 간 처리한 후 정상 배지에서 배양한 시간간격에 따라 세포의 생존를은 증가하였는데 홍삼추출물이 함유된 배지에서 배양한 경우는 약 17%정도 증가한 생존률을 보였다. MMS 처리 후 감소된 DNA 복제가 정상배지 배양시간에 따라 증가하는 정도도 홍삼추출물을 후처리 할 경우 현저한 증가를 보였다. MMS 상해를 회복하기 위한 절제회복능은 홍삼추출물을 처리할 경우 유의미한 증가를 보였다. 이러한 절제회복과정중 효소에 의한 절제단계가 홍삼추출물 처리에 의해 활성화됨을 단사절단 분석을 통하여 규명하였다. 자외선 상해의 경우와 비해서 MMS 상해의 절제단계를 활성화하는 홍삼의 효과는 약간 떨어지는 것으로 보이나, MMS 상해회복의 전과정에 대한 홍삼의 효과는 자외선 의 경우와 유사하였으며, MMS 상해에 의한 DNA 복제억제의 완화나 세포생존률은 자외선의 그것들보다 홍삼에 의해 더 증가된 측면을 보였다. 이 상의 결과는 홍삼추출물이 MMS 상해의 절제회복에 유의미한 증가를 보이며 따라서 유전독성을 감소시키는 항노화제로써 사용할 수 있음을 시사한다. We have studied the effects of red ginseng root extract on the decrease of MMS-induced genotoxicity in cultured NIH3T3 cells. The increase in survival and the recovery from DNA synthesis inhibition in MMS-treated cells as a funtion of normal medium incubation time was potentiated, at a rate higher than those in UV-irradiated cells, by the presence of the ginseng extract. The extract also increased the MMS-induced excision repair as determined by unscheduled DNA synthesis. The amount of MMS-induced DNA single strand breaks that are accumulated by polymerase inhibitors was increased, but at a rate lower rate than in UV-induced strand break, by the presence of the extract. These results suggest that the red ginseng extract increase MMS-induced repair and could be used as a reagent for protecting alkylating agent-induced genotoxicity and cytotoxicity.
