        전기자극처리와 천연항균성물질의 육표면처리가 한우육의 저장성에 미치는 효과

        Effects of electrical stimulation(550V, 90 sec) and medicinal herbs on shelf life of vacuum packaged Hanwoo beef at 0℃ were examined. pH and volatile basic nitrogen (VBN) did not show significant difference among treatments and decreased rapidly after 70 days of storage. Hardness of electrical stimulated Hanwoo beef was lower than that of control but did not show significant difference between electrical stimulated beef and medicinal herbs treated beef. Lightness of electrical stiumlated beef was higher than that of untreated beef. The color of each treatments did not change significantly during storage. Pinus densiflona (PD) spray, PD and Lithospermum erythrorhizon(LE) spray and electrical stimulations significantly reduced the total bacteria and psychrotrophs compared to control and produced a 1 log cycle reduction in both bacteria. Viable cell of these bacteria was inhibited apparently during storage. Self life of vacuum packaged Hanwoo beef with electrical stimulation was improved by spary of PD and LE on surface of Hanwoo beef.

      • 1993년에 한국에서 발생한 쯔쯔가무시병의 혈청역학 조사

        1993년도에 발생한 쯔쯔가무시병의 발생실태를 파악하기 위하여 전국 20개 병원의 협조를 얻어 임상적으로 쯔쯔가무시병, 렙토스리파병, 발진열 및 신증후출혈열로 의심되는 급성열성환자 총 5,381명에 대한 혈청을 대상으로 R. tsutsugamushi에 대한 항체를 측정 분석하여 아래와 같은 성적을 얻었다. 1) 총 5,381예중 2,321에인 43.1%가 항체양성자였으며 남자가 49.3% 여자가 45.6%의 항 체 양성율을 보였다. 2) 40대가 전체 항체 양성자수의 23.7%를 차지하여 가장 많았으며 30대에서 60대가 전체 항체 양성자수의 72.2%를 차지하고 있었다. 3) 10월과 11월에 발생한 항체 양성자수는 전체의 87%를 차지하였다. 4) 항체 양성자수의 지역별 분포를 보면 경상남도 16. 9.0%, 경상북도 16.57%로 가장 많게 나타났으며 지역에 따라 항체 양성자 발생수의 차이는 있으나 우리나라 전지역에서 관찰되었다. To understand the seroepidemiological patterns of scrub typhus in Korea, 5,381 patients sera with acute febrile episodes from 20 local hospitals were tested for the antibody to Rickettsia tsutsugamushi (R. tsutsugamushi), by indirect immunofluorescent antibody technique from January to December in 1993. The results were summarized as follows. 1) Out of 5,381 patients, 2,231(43.1%) patients showed positive reaction to R. tsutsugamushi and the female outnumbered the male slightly. 2) Among seropositives to R. tsutsugamushi, the age of the fourties were 23.7%, and between the thirties and sixties of the age were 72.2%. 3) Scrub typhus seemed to occur throughout the country in Korea. 4) Scrub typhus was the most prevalent in October and November.

        유기산 처리가 진공포장 한우육의 저장성에 미치는 영향

        Effects of organic acids and vacuum packaging on storage of Hanwoo beef were investigated to improve the hygienic quality and storage life of Hanwoo beef. Viable cell count of Hanwoo beef contaminated artificially with Listeria monocytogenes was reduced L5 to 2.2 logo cycle after dippping in fumaric, propionic, acetic acid for 60 seconds. The color of Hanwoo beef was changed significantly by dipping in various organic acids such as fumaric, propionic, lactic, acetic, and gluconic acid. The Volatile Basic Nitrogen(VBN) value of vacuum packaged hanwoo beef treated with propionic, fumaric acids was lower than that of the control during storage. Thio Barbituric Acid (TBA) value of organic acid treated Hanwoo beef was lower than that of control during storage. Microbial count in vacuum packaged Hanwoo beef treated with propionic acid was inhibited apparantly during storage, and fumaric and lactic acid showed inhibitory effect during storage. Fumaric and propionic acids showed inhibitory effect of spoilage in vacuum packaged Hanwoo beef for 50 days at 4℃.

      • Brain correlates to facial motor imagery and its somatotopy in the primary motor cortex

        <P>Motor imagery (MI) has attracted increased interest for motor rehabilitation as many studies have shown that MI shares the same neural networks as motor execution (ME). Nevertheless, MI in terms of facial movement has not been studied extensively; thus, in the present study, we investigated shared neural networks between facial motor imagery (FMI) and facial motor execution (FME). In addition, FMI somatotopy within-face was investigated between the forehead and the mouth. Functional MRI was used to examine 34 healthy individuals with ME and MI paradigms for the forehead and the mouth. The general linear model and a paired t-test were performed to define the facial area in the primary motor cortex (M1) and this area has been used to investigate somatotopy between the forehead and mouth FMI. FMI recruited similar brain motor areas as FME, but showed less neural activity in all activated regions. The facial areas in M1 were distinguishable from other body movements such as finger movement. Further investigation of this area showed that forehead and mouth imagery tended to lack a somatotopic representation for position on M1, and yet had distinct characteristics in terms of neural activity level. FMI showed different characteristics from general MI as the former exclusively activated facial processing areas. In addition, FME and FMI showed different characteristics in terms of BOLD signal level, while sharing the same neural areas. The results imply a potential usefulness of MI training for rehabilitation of facial motor disease considering that forehead and mouth somatotopy showed no clear position difference, and yet showed a significant BOLD signal intensity variation.         Human bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stromal cells expressing S-TRAIL as a cellular delivery vehicle for human glioma therapy.

        <P>Glioblastoma is among the most aggressive and treatment resistant of all human cancers. Conventional therapeutic approaches are unsuccessful because of diffuse infiltrative invasion of glioma tumor cells into normal brain parenchyma. Stem cell-based therapies provide a promising approach for the treatment of malignant gliomas because of their migratory ability to invasive tumor cells. Our therapeutic strategy was to use human bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stromal cells (hMSCs) as a cellular vehicle for the targeted delivery and local production of the biologic agent tumor necrosis factor-related apoptosis-inducing ligand (TRAIL) at the glioma tumor site. hMSCs were transduced with a lentivirus expressing secretable TRAIL (S-TRAIL) and mCherry (red fluorescent protein). Our results clearly demonstrate the retention of tumor tropic ability of hMSC S-TRAIL cells by in vitro and in vivo migration assays. In vitro assays confirmed the expression, release, and biological activity of S-TRAIL produced by hMSC S-TRAIL cells. For the in vivo assessment of therapeutic efficacy, hMSCs were injected ipsilateral to an established intracranial glioma tumor in a mouse xenograft model. Genetically engineered hMSC S-TRAIL cells were effective in inhibiting intracranial U87 glioma tumor growth (81.6%) in vivo and resulted in significantly longer animal survival. Immunohistochemical studies demonstrated significant, eight fold greater tumor cell apoptosis in the hMSC S-TRAIL-treated group than in controls. Our study demonstrates the therapeutic efficacy of hMSC S-TRAIL cells and confirms that hMSCs can serve as a powerful cell-based delivery vehicle for the site-specific release of therapeutic proteins.</P>

        돼지 Melanocortin Receptor 1(MC1R) 대립유전자 3의 신규 유전변이 탐색

        This study was conducted to investigate novel genetic variations of MCIR/R*3 allele. In general, white spotting or white belt on a black backgroud in pigs is determined by the E^(p) allele at the MICR/Extention locus. E^(p) shares a frameshift mutation with the E^(p) allele for dominant black color. An oligonucleotide primer set was designed to amplify complete coding sequence of the porcine MICR gene. The MICR coding sequences obtained from five breeds those were Landrace(white), Yorkshire(white), Hampshire(belt), Berkshire(spot) and Jeju native black pigs(black), were used for this study. A multiple sequence alignment of the MICR coding region using Clustal W was performed. The total length of the MCIR coding sequence ranged from 963 to 966 base pairs(bp) among the selected breeds. The sequence analysis of the complete coding region of MICR was revealed that Hampshire and Jeju native black pig have 3 cytosines deletion and Birkshire has 2 cytosines deletion at codon 23(nt68) in Extention loci. Besides the finding, there were three different missense mutations and a frameshift mutation in the MCIR coding region.

        10 Gb/s 급 광통신용 1.55 ㎛ SI - PBH DFB - LD의 제작 및 특성연구

        2단계 메사 식각 공정과 유기 금속 화학 증착방법으로 높은 비저항을 갖는 Fe-도핑된 반절연 InP층의 전류 차단층을 갖는 10 Gb/s 광통신용 초고속 1.55 ㎛ 궤환형 반도체 레이저 다이오드를 제작하였다. 제작된 DFB-LD의 특성은 발진 임계전류 ~15 ㎃, slope efficiency ~0.13 ㎽/㎃, 동 저항 ~6.0 Ω이었고, 발진 파장은 1.546 ㎛이며, 6 Ith 까지의 전류에도 인접 모우드 억압비, SMSR>40㏈ 이상 (CW 상태) 으로써 안정된 단일 모우드 동작을 보였다. DFB-LD의 소신호 주파수 특성으로 27 ㎃의 작은 구동전류에서 이미 -3㏈ 대역폭이 10 ㎓에 도달하였음을 보여주었고, 또한 최대 -3 ㏈ 대역폭으로 구동 전류 90 ㎃에서 ~18 ㎓까지 얻는 우수한 소신호 주파수 특성을 보여주었다. 10 Gb/s DFB-LD 모듈 전송시험에 있어서, 1.55 ㎛ 파장의 레이저 다이오드 모듈로 일반 단일모우드 광섬유와 분산천이 광섬유에 대해서 전송시험한 결과 에러평탄면 (error floor) 없이 각각 10 ㎞, 80 ㎞를 전송할 수 있었다. We fabricated the high speed 1.55 ㎛ distributed feedback laser diodes (DFB-LD) using both two-step mesa etching process and semi-insulating InP current blocking layers. The devices characteristics were threshold current of ~15 ㎃, slope efficiency of ~0.13 ㎽/㎃, and dynamic resistance of ~6.0 Ω, with as-cleaved facets. The fabricated DFB-LD showed the single longitudinal mode with more than 40 dB up to 6 I_(th) (CW condition), emitting at the wavelength of 1.546 ㎛. The -3 dB bandwidth was > 10 ㎓ at the driving current of 27 ㎃, and the maximum -3 dB bandwidth was ~18 ㎓ at 90 ㎃ current, showing the superior frequency response of SI-PBH DFB-LD. In the 10 Gb/s transmission experiment for 1.55 ㎛ DFB-LD module, maximum 10 ㎞ of single mode fiber (SMF) or 80 ㎞ of dispersion shifted fiber (DSF) could be transmitted with error free.

      • Comparison of Single-Incision Robotic Cholecystectomy, Single- Incision Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy and 3-Port Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy - Postoperative Pain, Cosmetic Outcome and Surgeon’s Workload

        Purpose: Robotic-associated minimally invasive surgery is a novel method for overcoming some limitations of laparoscopic surgery. This study aimed to evaluate the outcomes (postoperative pain, cosmesis, surgeon’s workload) of single-incision robotic cholecystectomy (SIRC) vs. single-incision laparoscopic cholecystectomy (SILC) vs. conventional three-port laparoscopic cholecystectomy (3PLC). Methods: 134 patients who underwent laparoscopic or robotic cholecystectomy at a single center during 2016~2017 were enrolled. Prospectively collected data included demographics, operative outcomes, questionnaire regarding pain and cosmesis, and NASA-Task Load Index (NASA-TLX) scores for surgeon’s workload. Results: 55 patients underwent SIRC, 29 SILC, and 50 3PLC during the same period. 3PLC patient group was older than the others (SIRC vs. SILC vs. 3PLC: 48.1 vs. 42.2 vs. 54.1 years, p<0.001). Operative time was shortest with 3PLC (44.1 vs. 38.8 vs. 25.4 min, p<0.001). Estimated blood loss, postoperative complications, and postoperative stay were similar among the groups. Pain control was lowest in the 3PLC group (98.2% vs. 100% vs. 84.0%, p=0.004), however, at 2 weeks postoperatively there were no differences among the groups (p=0.374). Cosmesis scores were also worst after 3PLC (17.5 vs. 18.4 vs. 13.3, p<0.001). NASA-TLX score was highest in the SILC group (21.9 vs. 44.3 vs. 25.2, p<0.001). Conclusion: Although SIRC and SILC take longer than 3PLC, they produce superior cosmetic outcomes. Compared with SILC, SIRC is more ergonomic, lowering the surgeon’s workload. Despite of higher cost, SIRC could be an alternative for treating gallbladder disease in selected patients.
