        [t]~[s] alternation in Korean loanwords

        Choi, Kyung-Ae. 2002. [t]~[s] alternation in Korean loanwords. Studies in Phonetics, Phonology and Morphology. 8-2. 289-302. The purpose of this paper is to examine the controversial phenomenon [t]~[s] alternation which apprears when the lexicalized loanwords undergo nativization and analyze it in the framework of Optimality Theory. For this analysis. I preview vowel epenthesis phenomenon which is related to [t]~[s] alternation. The alternation should be explained by the consonant weakening process rather than the reanalysis of /t/ into [s] and by the interaction of the constraints OWC Max-IO(Feature) and PAL.         A study on the unexpected phonological change in the English loanwords in Korean from Japanese

        Choi, Kyung-ae. 2012. A study on the unexpected phonological change in the English loanwords in Korean from Japanese. The Sociolinguistic Journal of Korea 20(1). pp. 295-315. The purpose of this study is to inquire about sound change by tracing the transition of English loanwords in Korean, which came from Japan, from phonological and sociolinguistic perspectives. The Japanese-style English loanwords from an earlier period have been transformed into newly adjusted forms at a surprisingly rapid rate and many of them have shown unexpected sound changes which went against general Korean phonological rules. This shows that sound change is not necessarily expected to occur in accordance with language-specific phonological rules. It can occur through the political and sociological will of speakers against their native grammar at a surprisingly rapid rate.

        열공형과 비열공형 피질하 혈관성 치매에서 위험인자의 차이에 관한 비교 연구

        Backgrounds and Objectives: Vascular dementia is a group of dementing disoders arising from various stroke syndrome. Among these. subcortical ischemic vascular dementia (SIVD) is regarded as a relatively distinct clinical entity. However, MRI patterns of SIVD are not homogenous. In some patients, lacunes are dominant, and in others, subcortical white matter changes are. This study was designed to compare risk factor profiles between SIVD with and without multiple lacunes. Methods: We divided 47 subjects (22 males, mean age. 68 years) recruited from VADAPET (Multicenter Trial For Evaluation Of The Changes In the PET Images Of Subcortical Vascular Dementia Patient) study into two groups one with more than 5 lacunes in deep gray matter (lacune group) and the other with 5 or less(non-lacune group) Clinical characteristics and laboratory findings of two groups were compared. Results: Nineteen of 47 patients (40%) belonged to the lacune group. The lacune and non-lacune groups d d not differ in the following variables: age, hypertension, diabetes mellitus, hyperlipidemia heart disease, history of stroke or TIA, history of trauma or major surgery, family history of hypertension stroke, or dementia, age at diagnosis of dementia, body mass index, white blood cell count, ESR, CRP, fibrinogen, hemoglobin A1C, total cholesterol. LDL cholesterol creatinine, proteinuria, glucosuria, and microhematuria. However, male sex, smoking alcohol. hemoglobin, and HDL cholesterol were possibly associated more with lacune group SIVD than with non-lacune group (p<0 1) Multivariate analyses revealed that smoking, hemoglobin, and HDL cholesterol were independent predictors of SIVD with multiple lacunes Conclusion: Our study suggests that SIVD with multiple lacunes may be significantly different in smoking habits hemoglobin, and HDL cholesterol from SIVD without multiple lacunes.

      • 최적이론에 의한 구개음화 재분석

        SPE(Chomsky and Halle, 1968) 이후 많은 생성음운론학자들이 다양한 언어에서 나타나는 여러 가지 구개음화 현상의 일반성을 포착하기 위하여 선형적인 분석(C. -W. Kim, 1968 : 이병건, 1976 : Kim-Ren명, 1974 : S. -G Kim, 1976) 뿐 아니라 비선형적인 분석(S. -C. Ahn. 1985 : Booij and Rubach. 1987 : Borowsky, : 최경애, 1986 : Choi, 1988)에 이르기까지 다양한 분석을 시도하여왔다. 본 논문에서는 영어에 나타나는 구개음화 현상에 대한 분절음운론적 분석, 그 중에서도 특히 비선형적 분석 방법을 살펴보고, 그것을 최적 이론에 의해 재분석하고자 한다. 그리고, 그것이 기존의 분석방법보다 더 보편적이고 간단하며 더욱 설명력이 있음을 보이고자 한다.

        윤이상 교향곡의 형상화 원칙에 관하여 : 「교향곡 제1번」 (1982/83), 1악장을 중심으로 am Beispiel des 1. Satzes der Symphonie Nr. 1 (1982/83)

        Mit seinen filnf Symphonien, entstanden 1982 bis 1987, greift Isang Yun programmatisch die zentrale Gattung der europiiischen Musiktradition auf, um eine Summe seines gesamten kompositorischen Schaffens zu ziehen. In der Gattung der Symphonie wollte Yun die individuelle Auseinandersetzung mit dem Symphonischen Komponierens hinaus etwas Eigenes schaffen, in dem beide Tradtionen bewahrt sind und zugleich ihre Grenzen uberschntten werden. Dafiir nutzt der Komponist bewusst Beriihrungspunkte beider Traditionen. Das Spiel mit ghnlichen Elementen, die jedoch in der jeweils anderen Kdtur urspriinglich in vollig anderen Klutur ursprunglich in vollig anderen Bedeutungszusammenhangen stehen, wird zum zentralen Moment seines Komponierens. Wesenthch fiir die Gestaltung wird dabei das Prinzip der "Einheit in der Mannigfaltigkeit" bzw. "Mannigfaltigkeit in der Einheit", das sich aus der koreanischen Musiktradition und taoistischen Philosophe herleitet. Die Wirksamkeit dieses Prinzips fiir Yuns symphonisches Schaffen -von der musikahschen Oberflache bis ins Detail der kompositorischen Gestaltung- lasst sich in mehrerer Hinsicht abzulesen. Yuns Musikideal ist, entsprechend der koreanischen Musiktradition und dem Grundsatz der taoistischen FMoqhe, die in sich flexible gestaltete lineare Klangstromung in stadiger Verademg . Als entscheidend fiir die Umsetzung dies Ideals in seinen Symphonien stellt sich das Kompnieren mit Klanggesten heraus, wobei komplexe Tonhohen-Ordnungen, Ereignisdauern und Farb-/Instrumentationswechsel formbildend eigesetzt werden. In der vorliegenden Arbeit ist aufzuweisen, dass die Musik durch die melodische Aufwtirtsgeste bestimmt wird, die immer wieder neu aufgegriffen wird und sich im Verlauf der Musik allmwch zum Hohepunkt steigert. Diese Bewegungseinheit bildet eine musikalische Phrase, die in ihrer Lange unterschledhch sein kann. Rasch fallende Linien markieren haufig Abschnitte und Formteile. Verknupft mit der Funktion der Klanggeste ist &e der Instrumentation: Haufig stellt Yun verschiedene Instrumentengruppen blockartig gegeneinander. Der Klangfarbenwechsel erfolgt haufig in regelmaigen Viertaktgruppen. Das Verfahren der gleichformigen Rasterung und der wechselnden Klangkombination meist in Viertaktgruppen kann als einen Ruckgnff auf eine der Grundlagen der traditionellen koreanischen Musik verstehen: die stadige, regelmaige Wiederholung eines in diesem Fall rhythmischen Patterns innerhalb einer metrischen Einheit, uber dem sich die horizontale Melodlelinie freientfaltet. Yun ubertriigt dieses rhythmische Organisationsprinzip auf die Instrumentation. Das groB besetzte europfiische Symphonieorchester wird so zum fast unerschopflichen Klangvorrat fiir Yuns stets sich wandelnden Klangstrom, der sich eher in der variativen Reihung W c h e r Gestalten entfaltet als in einer dialektischen Entwicklung. In Hinblick auf die spezifische Entfaltungsart von Yuns Musik scheinen weniger stark besetzte Begriffe wie Setzung, Entwicklung und RucWiihrung mit abschliel3ender Rekapitulation angemessen zu sein. Zielgerichtetheit entsteht somit nicht durch die "logische" Verarbeitung von Motiven und Themen, sondern durch die ubergeordnete, aufwtirtsweisende Bewegungsrichtung. Dementsprechend tritt die Tonhohenorganisation im Detail eher in den Hintergrund. Allerdings gibt es bestimmte Klangzellen, insbesondere die fallende Sekunde b-a und die aufsteigende Terz (meist cis-el, die in allen Symphonien in Erscheinung treten und wichtige stmkturelle und semantische Funktionen ubernehmen.

      • 교사의 부적절한 교수행동에 관한 연구

        The purposes of this study were 1)to investigate the inappropriate teaching behaviors of teachers and the educational environment in day care center and 2)to analyze the relationship between teaching behaviors and the educational environment. Four categories of teaching behaviors are care and education, use of language, physical discipline and emotioanl attitude. 91 teachers were observed by student teachers during four weeks. The data analyzed with SPSS program. The result of the study showed that the inappropriate teaching begaviors were often observed, and particularly inappropriate use of language was the most frequently observed teaching behaviors. The educational environment in day care center was poor. The teaching behaviors were related to educational environment.

      • 제6차 실업계 교육과정의 내용과 적용방안 : 상업교육 비서전공을 중심으로

        According to Article 1992-19 of the Ministry of education, a new curriculum including a business education program will be implemented in high schools from 1996. there will be a drastic change in business education program. The condition for the successful implementation of a new curriculum is to build infrastructures and secure resources; for example, restructuring pre-and in-service business teacher education programs, developing instructional materials such as textbooks, and updating instructional equipment such as computers. The purpose of this study is to review the new business curriculum in high school and attempt to make policy recommendations in implementing the new curriculum with a focus on secretarial programs. The conclusion and recommendations can be summarized as follows: First, each high school curriculum should be moved from a closed structure to an open structure which enable students to choose subject areas more freely based on their needs and future career plans. Second, if the newly planned curriculum is to be delivered effectively by teachers in the field, pre-and in- service teacher education programs should be provided for teachers prior to the implementation of the new curriculum. It is recommended to open a secretarial teacher education program in the School of Education, Ewha Womans University to train teachers for new subject area. Third, the current business teacher certificate should be reclassified according to teachers major subject area. Since there will be seven major areas within business education, it is impossible to cover all subject areas without teacher specialization. Fourth, computer should be utilized as a major instructional aid in most business subject areas, since businesses and offices are operated based on office automated computer systems. Fifth, the foundation of cooperative educational technology center, in which schools share expensive and everchanging computer facilities, is proposed to be used by area schools to keep up to date the current office automation. Sixth, developing textbooks and teaching materials is an urgent priority since some high schools have already implemented the new curriculum on a trial basis. Finally, teachers should discourage students who want to acquire competency certificates in simple and tedious skill areas such as typing, bookkeeping, and using the abacus. Instead, word processing and secretarial certificates should be recommended.
