        Metabolites of toluene, such as benzoic acid and hippuric acid were analyzed by gas chromatography. Urinary benzoic acid and hippuric acid obtained from toluene inhaled rat were extracted with ethyl acetate after acidification with hydrochloric acid. The recovery of benzoic acid and hippuric acid in urine were over 97%, and standard calibration curves was linear in wide range with high correlation coefficients.

        I have analyzed result of enqete and summed it up in items. That'll come to the following conclusion and I'll add some suggestions. 1. The class teacher in charge or any other persons in charge starting the freshman orientation, they should first give the athletes a kind guidance and a deep understanding. For the adaption of desirable school life. they need to have to be provoked strong intrinsic motivation based on recognizing deeply the value and importance of society in mankind through their sports fields. 2. There must be the more individual contact between students and teachers. The ultimate purpose of the school education is in the cultivation of the whole personality. So it is desirable to give them more opportunity of accumulating the whole-some experience : the active participation in the class study and school schedule. 3. The relater-in-person must try to have the athletes concentrate on their sports activity and feel satisfied. 4. In case of the athletes having a poor record of school, another special programs are to be prepared. These'll help them to live a planned u hoof life, develope their mental ability. and recognize the importance of their school record . 5. To solve the problems with which the athletes are faced for themselves, the person in charge must keep in contact with them and develop their abilities.

      • 土性 및 pH差異가 湛水土壤의 메탄가스 生成에 미치는 影響

        The effect of soil texture and pH on the behavior of anaerobic products in submerged soils, fatty acids and methane gas were studied. The study was done under anaerobically controlled system applied rice straw as carbon source at 30℃. 1. Methane formation was higher in the loamy soil compared to that obtained with sandy loam soil, in pH 7.0 compared to pH 4.5 and rice straw treatment enhanced the methane gas for-mation remarkably. 2. The Eh values were below -350 mV since 5 days after incuabtion in the treatment of pH 7.0 with rice straw, and in this condition methane content was about 65% and carbon dioxide 35%. 3. Acetic propionic, isobutyric, butyric, lactic isovaleric and valeric acid were detected during the incubation and acetic acid was accumulated in the large quantity under the condition that methane formation was inhibited. 4. The average methane formation rate during the incubation period was ranged from 0.0003 to 16.17 g/㎡/day which were depending on soil pH, Eh and organic material. 5. The conditions for inhibition of methane formation in submerged soil were low pH, low Eh and suppression of organic matter supply.

      • 연폭로여성근로자들에서의 생물학적 연폭로 지표들의 상호관계

        For the purpose of obtaining of an effective biological monitoring data in terms of evaluation the health consequences of lead absorption, the female workers in the electronic industry who have been exposed to low-level lead occupationally were chosen as the subjects of our studies. We observed the 9 parameters in not only 305 lead-exposed female workers who have been exposed to lead occupationally also 254 normal female subjects who have not been exposed to lead occupationally. The parameters chosen for this study were as follows, blood lead (PbB), urine lead (PbU), δ-aminolevulinic acid in urine(ALAU), coproporphyrin in urine(CPU), zinc protoporphyrin in whole blood(ZPP), hemoglobin(Hb), hematocrit(Ht), δ-aminolevulinic acid dehydratase(ALAD) activity & ALAD activity ratio(A/R; absorbance at substrate pH 6.6/absorbance at substrate pH 5.8). The results obtained were as follows: 1. The average age of the lead-exposed female workers in the electronic industry and in the normal female subjects were 20.5±4.2 years and 21.7±3.5 years, respectively. 2. The average work duration of the lead-exposed female workers in the electronic industry was 26.4±19.4 months 3. The mean value of PbB of the lead-exposed female workers in the electronic industry and in the normal female subjects were 30.18±6.64㎍/100ml and 21.61±3.84㎍/100ml respectively. 4. In the lead-exposed female workers of the electronic industry and of the normal female subjects, the mean value of ZPP were 36.22±0.69㎍/100ml and 24.64±7.21㎍/100ml, respectively 5. In the lead-exposed female workers of the electronic industry and of the normal female subjects, the mean value of Hb were 13.98±0.57g/100ml and 14.09±0.66g/100ml, respectively. 6. The mean value of the lead-exposed female workers in the electronic industry were 55.07±17.61㎍/1 for PbU, 1.93±0.69mg/1 for ALAU, and 49.74±22.79㎍/1 for CPU, while in the normal female subjects, 44.27±15.76㎍/1 for PbU, 1.46±0.55mg/ 1 for ALAU, and 38.66±17.99㎍/1 for CPU. 7. Among various pairing of the parameters of lead exposure in the female lead-exposed workers and in the normal female subjects, the correlation between PbB and ZPP showed the highest coefficient value.

        영병에 關한 文獻的 考察

        영병은 頸部의 結候兩側에 腫瘍이 발생되는 질병을 總稱하는 것으로 包括的인 면으로 볼 때 西洋醫學적으로 볼 때 甲狀腺腫大와 같은 것으로 본다. 이러한 병에 對하여 이미 오래전부터 地理적 環境과의 相關關係를 言及하였을 뿐만 아니라 좀더 나아가서는 情志失調도 이병을 일으키는 主要原因이 된다고 보았다. 現代醫學에 있어서는 甲狀腺腫大는 갑상선기능항진증에서 볼수 있는 것으로 보아 영병과 갑상선기능항진증과의 密接한 關係가 있음을 暗示해 주고 있다. 이와같이 古典적인 病名과 現代적인 症狀과의 比較分析을 위해 文獻考察方法도 韓醫學發展에 寄與할것으로 思慮된다. Goiter means all diseases causing tumor on the both sides of Adam's apple, and in the western medicine it is similar to tumefaction in thyroid gland. In the past the correlation between geographical features of deficiency of the kidney Yin as an important cause. In the present medicine, they suggest there should be close relation between goiter and hyperthyroidism. Therefore the comparative literature study on the ancient names of disease and present symptoms will contribute to the development of the Korean oriental medicine. The results of this study are summarized as follows: 1. In the past, the stagnation of qi and phlegm due to soil and water-borne diseases, and damage on being the response of the mind to the environmental stimuli was considered as the greatest causes of goiter, whereas in the present they give attention to goiter's symptoms caused by deficiency of Yin and think of deficiency of the kidney yin as important cause. 2. The ancient medicine books described the symptoms centering on the outer signs having tumefaction of diffuse on the neck, however modern oriental medicine writes symtoms of the whole body caused hyperactivity of yang due to yin deficiency inqi goiter addition to the outer symtoms and they are very similar to hyperthyroidism. 3. For the treatment, according to the treatment for the differentiation of symptoms and signs, they mainly use smoothing the liver and regulating the circulation of qi for the stagnation of qi; promoting blood circulation to remove blood stasis for the blood stasis; resolving sputum and softening hard masses for the lumps of phlegm; removing heat phlegm for the stagnation of phlegm fire, however in recent books we can find many ways for the nourishing Yin and prescription.

        This study was undertaken to review the case series of 216 ectopic pregnancies admitted to the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Pohang Sunrin Hospital from January, 1990 to December, 1991. The incidence of ectopic pregnancy was relatively high, being found to be 1 in 34.4 delivery cases. On the symptomatology, low abdominal pain was encountered in 96.8 percent, amenorrhea in 93.5 percent and vaginal bleeding in 16.2 percent in order. The fallopian tube was the most frequently, being found to be 98.6 percent, followed by the ovary with 0.9 percent and the cervix with 0.5 percent.

        The autochthonous and allochthonous organic carbon loading were measured in Lake Soyang, to estimate the amount of carbon loading into the lake and the contribution of their sources to the lake's carbon loading. Autochthonous carbon loading was estimated from phytoplankton primary production with the extracellular organic carbon(EOC). Allochthonous loding was determined by measuring dissolved organic carbon(DOC) and particulate organic carbon(POC) concentration in the main inflowing Soyang River. Both autochthonous and allochthonous organic carbon loading were high during the summer, from July to September, and accounted for 43.2% and 71.7% of the annual loading, respectively. Primary productivity was elevated up to 1,000 mgCm^(-2)d^(-1)during summer and lowest in winter. EOC production from phytoplankton was also large in summer, resulting in a high DOC concentration in the lake water. Primary production of phytoplankton and allochthonous organic matter loading from the watershed contributed to 53.6% and 46.4% of total loading, respectively. The EOC production accounted for 4.4~21.2% of POC primary production, implying that EOC production of phytolankton must be considered in estimation of primary production.
