        Multi-mode Kernel Weight-based Object Tracking

        최근, 감시시스템, 게임, 영화 등 다양한 분야에서 영상을 이용한 실시간 객체 추적의 필요성이 높아짐에 따라, 커널기반 mean-shift 추적 기법에 대한 관심이 높아지고 있다. 커널 기반 mean-shift 객체 추적에 있어서 주요한 몇 가지 문제점들 중, 첫 번째로 추적 목표 객체에 대한 부분 가림 혹은 전체 가림 상황에서의 객체 추적의 문제를 들 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 멀티모드 지역적 커널 가중치를 적용함으로써 부분 가림 상황에서도 안정적으로 객체를 추적할 수 있는 실시간 mean-shift 추적 기법을 제안한다. 제안기법에서는 단일 커널을 사용하는 대신 여러 개의 서브 커널들로 구성된 커널을 사용하고, 각 서브 커널의 위치에 따른 지역적 커널 가중치를 적용한다. 기존의 멀티모드 커널 기반의 방법과 비교한 실험을 통하여 본 제안 방법이 보다 안정적으로 객체를 추적할 수 있음을 보였다. As the needs of real-time visual object tracking are increasing in various kinds of application fields such as surveillance, entertainment, etc., kernel-based mean-shift tracking has received more interests. One of major issues in kernel-based mean-shift tracking is to be robust under partial or full occlusion status. This paper presents a real-time mean-shift tracking which is robust in partial occlusion by applying multi-mode local kernel weight. In the proposed method, a kernel is divided into multiple sub-kernels and each sub-kernel has a kernel weight to be determined according to the location of the sub-kernel. The experimental results show that the proposed method is more stable than the previous methods with multi-mode kernels in partial occlusion circumstance.

        The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of regular exercise in different modes on stress hormones responses in a control group(n=10), a walking group(n=10), and a jogging group(n=10). The two groups (walking, jogging) took walking and jogging exercise for 13 weeks. The untrained female students enrolled in K Junior College volunteered to participate in this study. Plasma β)-endorphin, prolactin, and cortisol levels of stress hormones were analyzed ; in a pretest, after 8 weeks, after 13 weeks, and immediately after the graded exercise test(GXT). The results obtained are as follows: Plasma β-endorphin levels during regular exercise treatments after GXT showed significant difference between walking and jogging. The level was increased significantly after 13 weeks in the walking group and 8 weeks in the jogging group. The level in the jogging group was increased more than in the walking group(p<0.05). Plasma prolactin and cortisol levels during regular exercise treatments after GXT did not show any statistically significant difference among the control, the walking, and the jogging group in the treatment period but showed some increase in the walking group and the jogging group.

        Clinical Manifestations and Treatment Outcomes of Eosinophilic Gastroenteritis in Children

        Purpose: The aim of the present study was to investigate the clinical features and outcome of eosinophilic gastro-enteritis (EGE) in children.Methods: Our study enrolled 24 children who were diagnosed with EGE from 1993 to 2014 at the Department of Pediatrics, Seoul National University Children’s Hospital. The patients’ clinical manifestations, treatments, and out-comes were reviewed from the medical records.Results: The mean age at diagnosis was 5.3 years. Most patients had gastrointestinal symptoms including diarrhea (54.2%) and abdominal pain (45.8%). Peripheral eosinophilia was present in 91.7% of the patients. Thirteen patients (54.2%) showed anemia, and 15 patients (62.5%) had hypoalbuminemia. EGE was classified as mucosal, sub-serosal, or muscular in 75.0%, 20.8%, and 4.2% of cases, respectively. Three patients showed gastroduodenal ulcers upon endoscopic analysis. A history of allergy was reported in 13 patients, including atopic dermatitis, allergic rhinitis, and asthma. Five patients (20.8%) improved with food restrictions. Among the 19 patients treated with steroids, 11 (57.9%) discontinued steroid treatment without subsequent relapse, 4 (21.1%) relapsed after ceasing steroid treat-ment, and 4 (21.1%) showed no response to steroids. Two patients who were resistant to steroids underwent ther-apeutic surgery. The presence of gastroduodenal ulcers was significantly associated with relapse and steroid resistance.Conclusion: A high suspicion of EGE is warranted when children have nonspecific gastrointestinal symptoms and peripheral eosinophilia. Most patients improved with food restrictions or steroid treatment, although one-third of pa-tients showed a relapse or steroid resistance.

      • A pre-dose biomarker Ccrn4l for predicting the susceptibility of cisplatin-induced hepatotoxicity

        Cisplatin-induced liver injury is one of the limitations of its use as an anti-cancer drug. In particular, individual differences in sensitivity to drug-induced liver injury (DILI) can lead to life-threatening situations. The purpose of this study is to discover which innate genetic factors determine diversity for susceptibility to DILI. Rats undergo a liver prebiopsy and a 3-week postoperative recovery period prior to cisplatin administration. Two days after administration of cisplatin, hepatotoxicity was confirmed through serum biochemical and histopathological analysis. Based on liver-related biochemical test results (ALT, AST, γGT), rats were sub-grouped into the Susceptible (top five) or Resistant (bottom five) group for RNA sequencing using the pre-collected liver samples. As a result, pre-dose 161 genes were differentially expressed between the susceptible and resistant groups. Among them, Ccrn4l, a clock-controlled gene included in the "rhythmic process", was inherently low in gene expression before drug administration in both cisplatin- and acetaminophen-susceptible animals. In addition, in the susceptible group, the innately low expression level of Ccrn4l was maintained even after cisplatin treatment with decreased antioxidants, increased nitration, and apoptosis. When checking the correlation between Ccrn4l, antioxidant catalase, and mitochondrial RNA in the liver, it was confirmed that they showed similar mRNA expression patterns according to individual circadian variation. Surprisingly, Ccrn4l knockdown WB-F344 cells prompted cisplatin-induced mitochondrial dysfunction, apoptosis, and decreased catalase activity. In conclusion, individual innate hepatic Ccrn4l level may be a novel factor affecting cisplatin-induced hepatotoxicity susceptibility by modulating mitochondrial and antioxidant functions.

      • Purge & Trap-GC를 이용한 의약품 필름코팅 정제 중 잔류용제에 관한 연구

        의약품은 약물을 생체에 적풋하기 위하여 유효성분의 효과가 언제나 일정하게 확보되고 사응에 편리하도록 만들어지는 것이므로 유효썽분 이외에 약효에 영향을 주지 않는 성분이 첨가되는 경운가 많다. 이 때 사용되는 용매들은 제피의 광택 및 건쪼시간의 단축 등을 위하여 휘발점이 낮을 용매들이 주로 사용되어진다. 본 연구는 의약품 필름코팅정제 중 잔류용매 4종(chlorofonr benzen, trichloro ethylen, 1,4-dioxane)에 대한 변형된 pirge & trap-GC 장치를 이용한 동시분석방법을 개발하였으며, 각 표준품의 RSD 값은 chloroform 3.03%, benzen 3.17%, trichloroethylen 3.69% and 1,4-dioxane 3.41%였다. 또한 시중 유통중인 의약품 50종에 대하여 잔류웅매 양을 측정하였으며, 검출되는 잔류용매는 한 건도 없었다. This study nras carried out to develope the analytical method for the mixture of chlorefonn, benzen, trichloroethylen and 1,4-dioxane simultaneously and determine the remainingorgauic solvents in coating tablets by Purge & Trap-GC. The results were as follouFs ; 1. Chloroform, benzen, trio:tloroethylen and 1,4-dioxane separated by tenax #5 trap by HP-624GC column by terrlperature programming. The peaks were separated completely at retentiontime of 6.88min for chloroform, 8.21min for benzen, 10.38miu for trichloroethylen and 11.95minfor 1,4-dioxane. 2. Standard RSD were individually chloroform 3.03%, benzen 3.17%, trichloroethylen 3.69%and 1,4-diorane 3.41%. 3. 60 samples were not detrcted chloroform, benzen, trichloroethylen and 1,4-dioxane.

      • New Insight into the Reaction Mechanism for Exceptional Capacity of Ordered Mesoporous SnO<sub>2</sub> Electrodes via Synchrotron-Based X-ray Analysis

        <P>Tin oxide-based materials, operating via irreversible conversion and reversible alloying reaction, are promising lithium storage materials due to their higher capacity. Recent studies reported that nanostructured SnO<SUB>2</SUB> anode provides higher capacity beyond theoretical capacity based on the alloying reaction mechanism; however, their exact mechanism remains still unclear. Here, we report the detailed lithium storage mechanism of an ordered mesoporous SnO<SUB>2</SUB> electrode material. Synchrotron X-ray diffraction and absorption spectroscopy reveal that some portion of Li<SUB>2</SUB>O decomposes upon delithiation and the resulting oxygen reacts with Sn to form the SnO<SUB><I>x</I></SUB> phase along with dealloying of Li<SUB><I>x</I></SUB>Sn, which are the main reasons for unexpected high capacity of an ordered mesoporous SnO<SUB>2</SUB> material. This finding will not only be helpful in a more complete understanding of the reaction mechanism of Sn-based oxide anode materials but also will offer valuable guidance for developing new anode materials with abnormal high capacity for next generation rechargeable batteries.</P><P><B>Graphic Abstract</B> <IMG SRC='http://pubs.acs.org/appl/literatum/publisher/achs/journals/content/cmatex/2014/cmatex.2014.26.issue-22/cm5025603/production/images/medium/cm-2014-025603_0012.gif'></P>

      • Bioelectrocatalytic detection of glycated hemoglobin (HbA<sub>1c</sub>) based on the competitive binding of target and signaling glycoproteins to a boronate-modified surface

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>We developed an electrochemical glycated hemoglobin (HbA<SUB>1c</SUB>) biosensor for diagnosing diabetes in whole human blood based on the competitive binding reaction of glycated proteins. Until now, no studies have reported a simple and accurate electrochemical biosensor for the quantification of HbA<SUB>1c</SUB> in whole blood. This is because it is very difficult to correctly distinguish HbA<SUB>1c</SUB> from large amounts of hemoglobin and other components in whole blood. To detect glycated hemoglobin, we used electrodes modified with boronic acid, which forms a covalent bond between its diol group and the cis–diol group of the carbohydrate moiety of glycated proteins. For accurate HbA<SUB>1c</SUB> biosensing, we first removed blood components (except for hemoglobin) such as glycated proteins and blood glucose as they interfere with the boronate-based HbA<SUB>1c</SUB> competition analysis by reacting with the boronate-modified surface via a cis–diol interaction. After hemoglobin separation, target HbA<SUB>1c</SUB> and GOx at a predetermined concentration were reacted through a competition onto the boronate-modified electrode, allowing HbA<SUB>1c</SUB> to be detected linearly within a range of 4.5–15% of the separated hemoglobin sample (HbA<SUB>1c</SUB>/total hemoglobin). This range covers the required clinical reference range of diabetes mellitus. Hence, the proposed method can be used for measuring %HbA<SUB>1c</SUB> in whole human blood, and can also be applied to measuring the concentration of various glycated proteins that contain peripheral sugar groups.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P>▸ We developed an accurate electrochemical HbA<SUB>1c</SUB> biosensor in whole human blood based on the competitive binding reaction of glycated proteins. ▸ Hemoglobin was separated from other blood components using a zinc ion-mediated separation method. ▸ Target HbA<SUB>1c</SUB> and signaling GOx was bound competitively onto the boronate group-modified electrode. ▸ HbA<SUB>1c</SUB> concentrations were determined linearly within a range of 4.5–15%, covering the required clinical reference range.</P>
