      • 데이터베이스 시스템 벤치마크를 위한 부하 생성기 설계

        현대 사회에서 사용되는 많은 데이터베이스 시스템 벤치마크에서는 결과 값의 극대화를 위해 실험 대상 시스템의 가용 자원을 최대화한 상태에서 수행하는 문제점을 가지고 있다. 실세계에서의 작업 환경과 유사한 환경에서의 벤치마크 실험을 위해 본 논문에서는 기존 벤치마크를 보완할 수 있는 부하 생성기를 설계한다. 부하 생성기는 운영체제의 메모리와 디스크, CPU에 직접적인 부하를 생성하며, 실세계 부하와 유사하고 사용자들이 쉽게 조작 가능한 통합 부하 생성을 지원한다.

        대두박 사포닌 보충이 식이성 유도 비만마우스의 체중과 내당능에 미치는 영향

        본 연구는 폐기되는 대두박으로부터 분리한 사포닌이 고지방식이로 유도한 비만마우스의 체중, 지질 함량, 지질대사 및 내당능에 미치는 영향을 살펴보았다. 4주령의 C57BL/6 마우스(n=48)를 1주일간 적응시킨 후 정상식이를 급여한 정상군, 고지방을 급여한 고지방대조군, 고지방식이에 대두박 사포닌을 수준별(0.5%, 1.0%, 1.5%, w/w)로 급여한 군들과 양성대조물질인 가르시니아 캄보지아(1.0%, w/w)를 급여한 군으로 나누어 9주간 사육하였다. 체중증가량과 내장지방(부고환 지방과 신장주변 지방) 무게는 고지방대조군에 비하여 대두박 사포닌 급여 수준에 의존적으로 낮아졌다. 캄보지아는 식이섭취량을 억제시킨 반면, 대두박 사포닌은 비만 유도 마우스의 식이섭취량에 유의적인 영향을 미치지 않았다. 혈장 중의 렙틴 함량은 고지방대조군에 비하여 대두박 사포닌 보충군에서 낮았다. 대두박 사포닌 급여수준에 관계없이 혈장의 중성지질과 총 콜레스테롤 함량은 유의적으로 낮아진 반면, 사포닌 급여 수준에 의존적으로 변으로 중성지질 배설은 유의적으로 높았다. 한편, 캄보지아는 변의 지질함량에 유의적인 영향을 미치지 않았다. 간조직 중의 중성지방과 콜레스테롤 함량 역시 고지방대조군에 비하여 대두박 사포닌 급여군(1.5%)에서 유의적으로 개선되었으나 캄보아지군의 콜레스테롤 함량은 증가되었다. 고지방식이는 정상식이에 비하여 혈당과 내당능을 유의적으로 증가시켰으나 대두박 사포닌과 캄보지아 급여는 혈당과 식후 혈당 변화를 효과적으로 개선하는 것으로 나타났다. 특히, 1.5% 대두박사포닌 급여군의 혈당은 정상군 수준이었다. 9주 동안 고지방식이 급여는 간조직 중의 지방산 합성과 산화효소활성을 모두 증가시켰는데 합성효소의 상승이 훨씬 큰 것으로 나타났다. 그러나 대두박 사포닌은 간조직 중의 지방산 합성과 산화효소활성을 정상화하였다. 이와 같이 대두박 사포닌은 비만유도 마우스에서 변으로의 중성지질 배설을 증가시키고 간조직에서 지질대사 관련 효소활성을 조절함으로써 체중조절과 혈당개선에 효과적이었다. This study investigated the beneficial effects of crude saponins from soybean cake on body weight and glucose tolerance in high-fat (37% calories from fat) diet fed C57BL/6 mice. The mice were supplemented with three doses of saponins (0.5%, 1.0%, and 1.5%, wt/wt) and 1.0% Garcinia cambogia (wt/wt), positive control for 9 weeks. The body weight, visceral fat weight and epididymal adipocyte area were significantly reduced in the saponin supplemented groups in a dose dependent manner compared to the high-fat group. Saponins did not significantly affect food intake; however, cambogia significantly lowered food intake compared to the high-fat fed control group. The crude saponins from soybean cake supplement significantly lowered plasma leptin, triglyceride and total cholesterol levels, whereas they significantly elevated the fecal excretion of triglyceide in a dose dependent manner compared to the high-fat group. Cambogia did not affect the fecal excretion of lipid in the diet-induced obese mice. Supplementation of 1.5% saponin reduced the hepatic triglyceride content compared to the high-fat group. High-fat induced glucose intolerance with the elevation of blood glucose levels compared to the normal group; however, the saponins supplement significantly improved postprandial glucose levels. After 9 weeks of being fed a high-fat diet, the mice presented with significantly increased activities of hepatic fatty acid synthase and fatty acid β-oxidation; however, saponins and cambogia normalized these activities. These results indicate that saponins from soybean cake exhibit a potential anti-obesity effect and may prevent glucose intolerance by reducing body weight and plasma lipids, increasing fecal lipid excretion and regulating hepatic lipid metabolism in high-fat fed mice.

        Supplementation of SK1 from Platycodi Radix Ameliorates Obesity and Glucose Intolerance in Mice Fed a High-Fat Diet

        This study investigated the beneficial effects of SK1 on obesity and insulin resistance in C57BL/6 mice, which were fed a high-fat diet (37% calories from fat). SK1 is an edible saponin-rich compound from Platycodi radix. The mice were supplemented with two doses of SK1 (0.5% and 1.0%, wt=wt) for 9 weeks. The body weight, visceral fat mass, and adipocyte area were significantly decreased in the SK1 supplemented-groups in a dose-dependent manner compared to the high-fat group. The SK1 supplement significantly lowered plasma triglycerides, total cholesterol, and free fatty acid levels, whereas it significantly elevated the fecal excretion of lipids in the diet-induced obese mice. Supplementation of SK1 decreased the triglyceride and cholesterol levels and the accumulation of lipid droplets in the liver compared to the high-fat control group. High-fat diet induced glucose intolerance and insulin resistance with the elevation of blood glucose levels compared to the normal group; however, the SK1 supplement significantly improved postprandial glucose levels and insulin resistance index. After 9 weeks of being fed a high-fat diet, the mice presented with significantly increased activities of hepatic fatty acid synthase, fatty acid $\beta$-oxidation, and glucokinase; however, both 0.5% and 1.0% SK1 supplementation normalized these activities. Notably, SK1 supplementation effectively diminished the ratio of fatty acid biosynthesis to fatty acid oxidation compared to the high-fat group. These results indicate that SK1 exhibits a potential anti-obesity effect and may prevent glucose intolerance by reducing body weight and fat accumulation, increasing fecal lipid excretions, and regulating hepatic lipid and glucose metabolism in high-fat fed mice.

        The present study analyzed change in golf players' performance and their immersion in sports according to golf rounding environment and change in golf players' performance according to their immersion in sports, with the object of providing basic materials for improving the quality of golf participants' golf activities. The subjects of this study were golfers who had just finished their golf rounding, A total of 250 golfers were selected through random sampling. Data were analyzed statistically through factor analysis, t-test, one-way ANOVA and regression. First, the condition of golf course and fairway and the manner of companions affect the player's psychological expectation in the golf rounding, preference for golf, desire to play golf, and perception on golf. Second, weather, the condition of golf course and fairway, the difficulty of golf course and the manner of companions affect the player's psychologcal expectation in the golf rounding, preference for golf, desire to play golf, perception on golf, information about golf, and interest in golf related imaginary acts. Third, immersion in acts according to the type of golf rounding was higher in competition than in leisure, This suggests that golf players who play golf for competition is more interested in golf acts than those who play for leisure. Fourth, golfers' performance is expected to be higher ft they have a good sleep on the previous night, if the condition of golf course and tee ground is satisfactory, and if they play with well-mannered companions.         데이터베이스 시스템 벤치마크를 위한 실세계 부하 생성 도구

        데이터베이스 시스템 벤치마크는 결과 값의 극대화를 위해 실험 대상 시스템의 가용 자원을 최대화한 상태에서 수행되어 실세계 환경과는 괴리된다는 한계성을 가지고 있다. 실세계에서의 작업 환경과 유사한 환경에서의 벤치마크 시험을 위해 본 논문에서는 기존 벤치마크를 보완할 수 있는 실세계 부하 생성 도구를 제안한다. 본 부하 생성 도구는 시스템의 메모리, 디스크, CPU를 활용하여 운영체제에 직접적인 부하를 생성하며, 실세계 부하와 유사한 통합 부하 ktod성을 지원한다. 본 논문에서는 각 부하 생성 방식, 개발된 부하 생성 도구의 구조, 특징, 구현 방법 등을 기술하였다. 또한 위스콘신 벤치마크를 TPC-C 벤치마크 및 부하 생성 도구와 함께 수행하여 두 성능 평가 실험 결과를 비교하고, 이를 통해 제안하는 부하 생성 도구의 적절성을 보였다. Database system benchmarks, which are usually evaluated to use the maximized resource in order to get the best results, arc not likely to simulate the real environment. We propose a workload generator that helps benchmarks be executed in the environment similar to a real world. The workload generator can create memory-bound, CPU-bound, and I/O-bound workloads. The workload generator allows users to create an integrated workload. which is similar to a real workload users run across in practice. Finally, we conducted the experiments that the Wisconsin benchmark was performed with the TPC-C and with the workload generation tool, and showed the feasibility of the proposed workload gen-eration tool comparing with two experimental results.

        Biomechanical characterization of three iliac screw fixation techniques: A finite element study

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>We aim to characterize the biomechanical properties of a modified iliac screw fixation method compared with the classic iliac screw fixation and the S2 alar iliac screw (S2AI) fixation using a FEM.</P> <P>A three-dimensional, non-linear FEM of lumbosacral spine and pelvis (L1-pelvis) was modified to simulate 3 different iliac screw fixations based on posterior screw fusion. The peak von Mises stress (PVMS) values of the iliac screws in the 3 different iliac screw fixations were recorded in during flexion/extension/axial rotation/lateral bending. The interaction stress which arose between the screw head and the shaft of iliac screws, was also measured for each case.</P> <P>The PVMS values of the 3 different iliac screw fixation techniques were lower than the fatigue strength levels under physiological loadings. PVMS of iliac screws was observed in the screw shaft for S2AI, in the screw neck for the modified iliac screw technique, and in the offset connectors of the classic iliac screw technique. The interaction between the screw head and the neck was compressed in modified iliac screw fixation technique. On the other hand, distraction force was observed in the S2AI technique between the screw head and the screw shaft.</P> <P>This FEM study supports our previous clinical results, which found that the modified iliac screw fixation technique can be an effective alternative sacropelvic fixation technique comparable to the classic iliac screw and the S2AI technique.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> We previously reported a modified iliac screw fixation technique which addressed the limitations of the classic iliac screw fixation and the S2 alar iliac screw (S2AI) fixation techniques. </LI> <LI> The PVMS values of the 3 different iliac screw fixation techniques were lower than the fatigue strength levels under physiological loadings. </LI> <LI> PVMS of iliac screws was observed in the screw shaft for S2AI, in the screw neck for the modified iliac screw technique, and in the offset connectors of the classic iliac screw technique. </LI> <LI> The interaction between the screw head and the neck was compressed in modified iliac screw fixation technique.         Postoperative Prognostic Predictors of Bile Duct Cancers: Clinical Analysis and Immunoassays of Tissue Microarrays

        Background/Aims: Cholangiocarcinoma frequently recurs even after curative resection. Expression levels of proteins such as epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR), Snail, epithelial cadherin (E-cadherin), and interleukin-6 (IL-6) examined by immunohistochemistry have been studied as potential prognostic factors for cholangiocarcinoma. The aim of this study was to investigate significant factors affecting the prognosis of resectable cholangiocarcinoma. Methods: Ninety-one patients who underwent surgical resection at Samsung Medical Center for cholangiocarcinoma from 1995 to 2013 were included in this study. Expression levels of E-cadherin, Snail, IL-6, membranous EGFR, and cytoplasmic EGFR were analyzed by immunohistochemistry using tissue microarray blocks made from surgical specimens. Results: Patients with high levels of membranous EGFR in tissue microarrays had significantly shorter overall survival (OS) and disease-free survival (DFS): high membranous EGFR (score 0–2) 38.0 months versus low membranous EGFR (score 3) 14.4 months (p=0.008) and high membranous EGFR (score 0–2) 23.2 months versus low membranous EGFR (score 3) 6.1 months (p=0.004), respectively. On the other hand, E-cadherin, Snail, cytoplasmic EGFR, and IL-6 did not show significant association with OS or DFS. Patients with distant metastasis had significantly higher IL-6 levels than those with locoregional recurrence (p=0.01). Conclusions: This study showed that overexpression of membranous EGFR was significantly associated with shorter OS and DFS in surgically resected bile duct cancer patients. In addition, higher IL-6 expression was a predictive marker for recurrence in cholangiocarcinoma patients with distant organ metastasis after surgical resection.
