The present experiment was designed to investigate the effects of Ondamtang(溫膽蕩) on the heart function. And thus the blood preassure and heart rate were measured after injecting the drug and bile. In order to understand the action mechanism of the Ondamtang on the cardiac muscle cell, Mg^2+ -Ca^2+ -ATPase activity and Na^+ -K^+ -ATPase activity at the presence of the drug were also measured. The results were obtained as follows : 1. Ondamtang decreased the blood pressure in the anesthetic rabbits. 2. It seems that Ondamtang doesn't stimulate the antonomic nerves for decreasing the blood pressure and heart rate. 3. Ondamtang activated the Mg^2+ -Ca^2+ -ATPase activity of cardiac sarcoplasmic reticulum, therefore Ca2+ ions of sarcoplasm reticulum were concentrated into the membrane system. 4. Ondamtang inhibited the Na^+ -K^+ -ATPase activity of brain cortex nerve cell. 5. Bile injection decreased the blood pressure and heart rate. According to the above results, Ondamtang inhibits the cardiac muscle contraction and nerve conduction, on the other hand the drug changes the bile content and thus decreases the blood pressure.

Therefore, importance and application of web editor for easy and convenient homepage making have increased. In this paper, we propose a web query system based on dynamic web editor. The editor makes it possible for users to conveniently make homepages by improving limit of client based web editor or template web page service supplied by hosting site. And users search for desirable information through web pages on the huge web, so they can add this information for users web page or create new web page. Through this web editor which implements server based on the web, users can make web page flexiblely and can make polished web page which increases reading and comprehensiveness to access information easily.

Objectives : Cinnamomi Ramulus (CR), the young twing of Cinnamomi loureirii nees, has been used for treating symptoms related to pain. rheumatic arthritis and inflammation in Korean herb medicine. This study was carried out to investigate the anti-inflammatory effect of CR in vivo and in vitro. Methods : Extracts of CR were prepared and the chemical components of the extracts were examined by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS). The extracts were administrated to the rat paw edema model induced by carrageenan to evaluate the anti-inflammatory effect of CR. The expressions of nitric oxide (NO). prostaglandin E2(PGE2), inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) and cyclooxygenase (COX)-2 were also quantified in lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced RAW 264.7 macrophages to survey the effect of CR in vitro. The main components were cinnamaldechyde and coumarin. Results : We examined the anti-inflammatory activity of the 80% ethanol extract of Cinnamomi Ramulus in vivo by using carrageenan-induced rat paw edema model. Maximum inhibition of 54.9% was noted at the dose of 1000㎎/㎏ after 2 hours of drug administration in carrageenan-induced rat paw edema and this showed a potent anti-inflammatory effect. Conclusions : The results showed that Cinnamomi Ramulus suppressed dose-dependently LPS-induced NO production in RAW 264.7 macrophages and also decreased iNOS protein expression. Cinnamomi Ramulus also showed a significant inhibitory effect in LPS-induced PGE2 production and COX-2 expression.

Objective : The use of herbal therapy is becoming an increasingly attractive approach for the treatment of various inflammatory disorders. The Alpiniae officinari Rhizoma is popular in Aisa as a traditional herbal medicine. Alpiniae officinari Rhizoma is a species of the ginger family(Zingiberacease). Method : This study was performed to investigate the anti-inflammatory effect of Alpiniae officinari Rhizoma extract by the methods of "carrageenan induced paw edema" and "Lipopolysaccharide-induced inflammatory mediators in mouse macrophage RAW 264.7 cells". Result : We suggest that Alpiniae officinari Rhizoma extract decreased paw volume induced by plantar injection of carrageenan. Also Alpiniae officinari Rhizoma extract inhibited nitric oxide, prostaglandin E₂production and induced nitric oxide synthase, cyclooxygenase-2 protein expression in Mouse macrophage RAW 264.7 cells stimulated with lipopolysaccharide. Conclusion : This study shows that Alpiniae officinari Rhizoma extract seems to have anti-inflammatory effect by inhibition of nitric oxide, prostaglandin E_(2) production and nitric oxide synthase, cyclooxygenase-2 protein expression.

The distribution and localization of somatostatin(SOM), neuropeptide Y(NPY), vasopressin(VP), and oxytocin(OT) were studied with a immunohistochemical technique in the canine hypothalamus. The SOM-immunoreactive perikarya were concentrated in the anterior periventricular and the arcuate nuclei. Immunoreactive terminals were observed in the arcuate, the ventromedial hypothalamic, the suprachismatic nuclei and the external layer of the median emmence. A great number of NPY-immunoreactive cell bodies were found in the arcuate nucleus and NPY fibers were located throughout the hypothalamus with the highest concentration especially in the paraventricular (PVN) and the acuate nuclei. Moderately or densely stained fibers were also observed in the median eminence, the suprachiasmatic. the periventricular, the ventromedial hypothalamic, the dorsomedial hypothalamic and the medial preoptic nuclei, and the stria terminalis. Both VP-and OT-containing perikarya were found mainly in the PVN and supraoptic nucleus(SON). but a few were seen in the perifornical area, the lateral hypothalamus, the dorsal hypothalamic and the periventricular nucleus. The fibers originated from the PVN were projected to the SON via ventral or dorsal area of the fornix.

Objective : The Angelica gigas Nakai ethanol extract (AGE) was investigated to compare nitric oxide (NO) production and NF-kB activity from RAW 264.7 cells, since NO and nuclear factor-kB(NF-kB) have been shown to be factors implicated In inflammatory disease. Method : AGE was prepared by extracting medicinal herb with 70% (v/v) ethanol solution. We investigated production nitric oxide (NO) and inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) gene expression by ARE in LPS-stimulated RAW 264.7 macrophage cells. We also investigated inhibition of LPS-induced activation of NF-kB on western blot. Result : LPS-induced RAW 264.7 cells increascd NO production and ,iNOS expression. Upon treatment with AGE, nitrite production was significantly inhibited in a concentration-dependent manner compared to the untreated control. AGE inhibited this LPS-induced ,iNOS mRNA and protein in a dose-dependent manner. AGE markedly inhibited the expression of iNOS mRNA and protein at a concentration of 100 μg/ml. LPS-induced RAW 264.7 cells with AGE blocked inhibitory factor-kBα degradation. Conclusion : This study shows that AGE seems to attenuate inflammation through inhibition of NO production and iNOS expression by blockade of NF-kB activation in LPS-stimulated RAW 264.7 cells.

Female fertility is a highly regulated process involving the synchronized activities of multiple tissues. The underlying genomic regulation of the tissue synchronization is poorly understood. To understand this better we investigated the transcriptomes of the porcine ovary, endometrium, and oviduct at days 0, 3, 6, 9, 12, 15, or 18 of the oestrous cycle. We analysed the transcriptome profiles of the individual tissues and focus on the bridging genes shared by two or more tissues. The three tissue-networks were connected forming a triangular shape. We identified 65 bridging genes with a high level of connectivity to all other genes in the network. The expression levels showed negative correlations between the ovary and the other two tissues, and low correlations between endometrium and oviduct. The main functional annotations involved biosynthesis of steroid hormones, cell-to-cell adhesion, and cell apoptosis, suggesting that regulation of steroid hormone synthesis and tissue viability are major regulatory mechanisms.
