Jaemoon Jung,Hanjun Park,Dongwook Hwang,Minseok Son,Donghyun Beck,Jungmin Park,Woojin Park 대한인간공학회 2013 대한인간공학회 학술대회논문집 Vol.2013 No.5
Objective: The aim of this paper is to classify and characterize the existing interaction methods regarding object manipulation in virtual reality environment. Background: Over the past few decades, the field of virtual reality has gone through rapid advances and various virtual object manipulation techniques have been developed. However, an established classification of the existing object manipulation techniques does not seem available at this point. A systematic review of the advances during the past three decades and a classification of the existing object manipulation techniques based on it would help researchers prospect the future of human-machine interaction in virtual environments and further formulate future research directions for virtual object manipulation. Method: We collected and examined studies that are related to virtual reality and virtual object manipulation. The collected studies were reviewed in chronological order, and virtual object manipulation techniques were identified. Then, the existing virtual object manipulation techniques were sorted into categories according to similarities and each category was characterized. Additionally, this study reviewed the existing performance metrics for evaluating virtual object manipulation techniques. Application: This paper will aid in ameliorating the understanding of the existing virtual object manipulation techniques, and furthermore, offer directions to the future researchers in this field.

Background: Complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS) is an intractable pain disease with various symptoms. Here, we investigated the disease status, work life, sleep problems, medical insurance, economic status, psychological problems, and quality of life (QOL) of CRPS patients. Methods: CRPS patients from 37 university hospitals in South Korea were surveyed. The survey questionnaire consisted of 24 questions on the following aspects of CRPS patients: sex, age, occupation, cause of injury, activities of daily living (ADL), pain severity, sleep disturbance, level of education, economic status, therapeutic effect, and suicidal ideation. Additionally, the abbreviated World Health Organization Quality of Life (WHOQOL-BREF) questionnaire, consisting of 26 questions, was used to identify the status of QOL. Results: A total of 251 patients completed the questionnaire. According to the survey, 54.2% patients could not perform ADL on their own. Over the previous week, the mean pain score was 7.15 ± 1.78 (out of a total of 10 points); 92.1% of patients had sleep disorders and 80.5% had suicidal ideation, with most patients suffering from psychological problems. The average for each domain of WHOQOL-BREF was as follows: 21.74 ± 14.77 for physical, 25.22 ± 17.66 for psychological, 32.02 ± 22.36 for social relationship, and 30.69 ± 15.83 for environmental (out of a total of 100 points each). Occupation, ADL, sleep time, therapeutic effect, and suicidal ideation were statistically correlated with multiple domains. Conclusions: Most patients had moderate to severe pain, economic problems, limitations of their ADL, sleep problems, psychological problems, and a low QOL score.
A Study on Development of Maintenance Skill Training Simulator for Railway Vehicle
Jung, NoGeon,Kim, BoSung,Lee, JaeBong,Lee, SangMoon,Koo, KyungWan,Kim, JaeMoon The Institute of Internet 2015 International Journal of Internet, Broadcasting an Vol.7 No.2
Generally, in the railway vehicle the driving force of gravity happens by the high-speed running and the repetitive impulse cause the degradation and the malfunction phenomenon shows differently because the durability of each component changes according to the internal and external causes. The maintenance of propulsion control device which is played the very important role as to the stable service of the railway vehicle is greatly important among them. Therefore maintenance training propulsion control device simulator is needed to maximize learning through repetition and improve the maintenance practical skills training. This paper designed the railway vehicle running device with a miniature for the railway vehicle maintenance training and developed a propulsion control device simulator equipped the imitation steering wheel.

A Dynamic Search Range Algorithm for Stabilized Reduction of Memory Traffic in Video Encoder
Jongpil Jung,Jaemoon Kim,Chong-Min Kyung IEEE 2010 IEEE transactions on circuits and systems for vide Vol.20 No.7

Embedded compression is commonly employed in a video codec to reduce the data traffic to/from off-chip frame memory. We proposed a method for maintaining the memory bandwidth requirement at a significantly reduced level through dynamic search range adjustment for the motion estimation based on the observed relationship between the compression ratio and the motion vector. This, together with the so-called “center moving” to adjust the newly incoming macroblocks, helped significantly lower the requirement of the memory bandwidth without a fluctuation. Experimental results have shown that the memory bandwidth requirement can be finally stabilized to 20% of that of the full search. The image quality degradation was merely 0.02 dB.

We report the reversible nanomechanical actuation of a microcantilever driven by the light irradiation-induced conformational changes of i-motif DNA chains, which are functionalized on the cantilever's surface. It is shown that light irradiation-driven nanomechanical actuation can be manipulated using DNA hybridization and/or ionic concentrations.

Graphic Abstract

We have first demonstrated the nanomechanical actuations using light irradiation-driven DNA fuel. With the correct equipment, microvolt EEG signals can be recorded from the scalp. Their potential use for diagnosis of physiological and psychiatric diseases and for increasing our understanding of cognitive processes is being realized by current research in many fields. Our work focuses on the research for good EEG signal representations and on careful analysis classification results using statistical EEG analysis(SEEG).

Urban rail transit tends to global grounding system in order to control ground potential rise and potential differences between electric equipments. In addition, global grounding system can discharge the large capacity surge current to the ground safely. Since some railway electric equipments are installed all section of line, the global grounding system connected with the connecting grounding wire is more effectively. However, if the fault occurred in the connecting grounding wire area, some dangerous voltage is generated. So, the installation of additional grounding rod will be required. In this study, the global grounding system is simulated using CDEGS program to analyze the divergence spacing of additional ground rod depending on dangerous electric potential characteristics. Grounding net of the each station is modelled in depending on the size of the platform, and the spacing of the connecting grounding rod are compared 50m, 100m, 250m and 400m. Simulation results considering of earth resistivity and underground condition of the connecting grounding wire, spacing of the connecting grounding rod is that less than 250m to spacing of the ground rod was appropriately confirmed.
