N/A Background: The prevalence of other diseases associated with psoriasis has been investigated in recent years. Objective: This study was performed to see diseases associated with psoriasis in Korea. Methods: From September 1999 to May 2000, a total of 293 patients with psoriasis, who visited the department of dermatology in 6 hospitals, were enrolled in a subject group for the study. We surveyed the incidence rates of associated diseases. Results: In our study, diseases more concomitantly present in patients with psoriasis were dermatophyte infection, seborrhea dermatitis and benign tumor & nevus in skin diseases and obesity, diabetes mellitus, hypertension, gastritis and hepatitis in systemic diseases. Less concomitantly present in-patients with psoriasis were erythroderma, acne, contact dermatitis, atomic dermatitis, bacterial infection, tonsillitis, and internal cancer. Conclusion: Our observations show a distinct pattern of diseases associated with psoriasis in Korea. Further investigation will be mandatory to elucidate concomitant diseases in psoriasis. <P>The generation of patient-specific oligodendrocyte progenitor cells (OPCs) holds great potential as an expandable cell source for cell replacement therapy as well as drug screening in spinal cord injury or demyelinating diseases. Here, we demonstrate that induced OPCs (iOPCs) can be directly derived from adult mouse fibroblasts by Oct4-mediated direct reprogramming, using anchorage-independent growth to ensure high purity. Homogeneous iOPCs exhibit typical small-bipolar morphology, maintain their self-renewal capacity and OPC marker expression for more than 31 passages, share high similarity in the global gene expression profile to wild-type OPCs, and give rise to mature oligodendrocytes and astrocytes in vitro and in vivo. Notably, transplanted iOPCs contribute to functional recovery in a spinal cord injury (SCI) model without tumor formation. This study provides a simple strategy to generate functional self-renewing iOPCs and yields insights for the in-depth study of demyelination and regenerative medicine.</P>

Rising of Ar bubble in C-saturated liquid iron was investigated in-situ by employing a high power X-Ray fluoroscope (maximum power of 450 kV and 4.5 mA) coupled with a high speed camera. This analysis enabled to track the actual motion of rising bubble in the liquid iron. After post-processing of X-Ray images, size, shape, velocity, and trajectory of the bubble were obtained. The bubbles were found to be not spherical, but ellipsoidal. Their average size could be estimated about 1.1×10 -2 m. The bubbles wobbled during rising and arrived at their terminal velocities within 0.1 sec. The obtained terminal velocities revealed that the governing forces acting on the motion of ellipsoidal bubble were inertia and surface force. This was quite different from that of spherical bubble which was widely used in the assumption for the numerical analysis. As a result, widely applied equation for the drag coefficient (CD = 24 (1 + 0.15Re 0.687 ) / Re) is seen to be applicable only for low Re regime, and this was also confirmed by the drag coefficient derived from the present experimental observation. Therefore, it is suggested to use the following equation for the drag coefficient CD = max [24 (1 + 0.15Re 0.687 ) / Re, 8Eo / 3(Eo + 4)]. Numerical simulation for the Ar bubble behavior in the three dimensional (3D) continuous casting mold was conducted in order to evaluate the effect of the drag coefficient for the behavior of spherical and ellipsoidal bubbles. The numerical results showed that the increased CD based on ellipsoidal regime affected the entire fluid in the mold.

This study aimed to analyze success factors and weakness factors among taekwondo training stadiums and thereby provide assistance in the management of taekwondo gyms based on insights gained from successful cases. The investigation methods used to achieve this research purpose included the qualitative research method of in-depth interviews and successful gyms were analyzed from various perspectives using methods such as attributes factors analysis, 4p’s marketing mix factor analysis and SWOT analysis, selected in accordance with their characteristics. The analysis of gym attributes indicated that the factors that determined success included materials and non-materials services, the degree of openness in the pedagogical approach, transparency in the management of training tuition fees secured by means of the direct participation of the trainees’ parents, the partial return of fees to trainee members, and positive facilities. The 4p’s marketing mix factor analysis found that successful gym were those that increased the satisfaction of the trainees and their parents through the systemically interrelated effects of location, program contents, fee prices, facilities and promotional advertisements. The SWOT analysis demonstrated that the educational program, gym trainee management, gym operation, prioritization of customers satisfaction and management mentality constituted the strength factors, while locational conditions, lack in martial arts aptitudes, decentralization of operations, lack in education time for trainees and lack in proper taekwondo characteristics were weakness factors. In additions, future-oriented gyms were observant of sustained interaction with regional growth to identify opportunities for gym branching and emphasized educational value for consumers, while introducing the latest educational programs to not only enhance the quality of education but also improve communication with parents, utilizing communication technologies to achieve success in their trainee recruitment efforts.
가막만에 출현하는 동물플랑크톤의 종조성과 계절별 출현 양상

가막만에 출현하는 동물플랑크톤을 계절별(2001년 4월, 7월, 9월, 12월)로 Norpac네트를 이용하여 수직 채집하였다. 우점적으로 출현한 분류군은 4월과 12월에 요각류, 7월에 요각류와 지각류,9월에 야광충이었다. 출현 개체수는 22~17,197indiv. m^-3으로 시·공간적으로 변동폭이 매우 컸다. 요각류의 우점종은 4월에 Euryte-mora pacifica, Acartio omorii, Cenfropages abdominalis, Colanus sinicus, 7월에 Lobidocera rofunda와 A. erythraea, 9월에 A. eryfhraea와 Paracalanus parvus s. l., 12월에 A. omorii와 E. pacifca로 주로 내만종으로 변하였다. 그러나, 9월에 외양종인 Eucalanus sp.와 Neo-calnus sp. 또한 다수 출현하였다. 이와 같은 출현 경향은 가막만이 폐쇄성 내만임에도 불구하고 동물플랑크톤의 분포 특성은 내만수 이외에 계절적으로 외만수의 영향을 강하게 받고 있음을 암시하고 있다. Zooplankton was sampled vertically with a Norpac net from Gamag Bay in April, July, September and December, 2001. Copepods were predominant in April and December, and cladocerans in July and Noctiluca scintillans in September, respectively. There are high spatio-temporal fluctuations in the abundance of zooplankton with a range of 22∼17,197 indiv./㎥. In the copepod community, neritic species, Eurytemora pacifica, Acartia omorii, Centropages abdominalis and Calanus sinicus were predominant in April; Labidocera rotunda and A. erythraea in July; A. erythraea and Paracalanus parvus s. l. in September; A. omorii and E. pacifica in December. However, oceanic species Eucalanus sp. and Neocalanus sp. were abundant in September. It indicates that although Gamag Bay is semi-closed, the distribution pattern of zooplankton is seasonally strongly affected by oceanic waters in addition to neritic ones.

The solubility of various fluoro-gases in high boiling-point solvents, n-Cnh_2n+_1OH(6<n<10)and ionic liquids(+ ions: 1-Buty 1-3-methy1-imidazolium, 1-Ethy1-3-methy1-imidazolium, - ions:BF_4, PF_6, S_6F_6, F_6O_4S_6) were measured at temperatures from 0 to 30℃, at total pressures up to 4 bat Solubility increased significantly with the decrease of n in n-Cn_2N+OH and showed no such a difference in the types of ionic liquids, Especially, the solubility of R22 gas in these solvents increases rapidly with increases in pressure and decreases in temperature, whereas other fluoro-gases were showed a little solubility Liquid-supported membranes were prepared with these solvents and polymer matrix and were applied to the separation of fluoro-gases including R22 gas. A high permeability and selectivity were exhibited in R22 gas against other fluoro-gases.
