Baculum elongatum has several peculiarities such as parthenogenesis, unique externalfeatures, changing body color, and dropping oviposition, which makes it a potentialeconomically useful insect. Oviposition was performed by females without fertilization bythe sperm of males. The oviposition period was 42.2 ± 22.7 days and the number of eggsper female was 109.5 ± 70.5 eggs. The hatch rate was 73.3% at 25°C and 66.7% after lowtemperature treatment (8°C for 60 days). In nature, B. elongatum overwinters as an egg, but itcan be assumed from the results that cold temperatures were not required for hatching. Thehatch rate was 98.2% in the treatment using floral foam, fermented sawdust, and leaves. The developmental period was 100.9 ± 4.2 days for eggs, 55.3 ± 4.6 days for nymphs, and49.7 ± 16.0 days for adults. The length of the eggs was 0.33 ± 0.0 cm and the lengths of thenymphs were clearly distinguishable according to the instar stage. Clover(Trifolium repens)was an excellent diet as it was similar to the host plant and could be used as an alternativediet. The rate of reaching adulthood for the insects was 66.7% on an artificial diet containing25% acacia leaves. For sustainable mass rearing of nymphs or adults of B. elongatum, anatural diet could be used such as acacia (Robinia pseudoacacia), white oak (Quercusaliena), chestnut (Castanea crenata var. dulcis), and bush clover (Lespedeza bicolor), or analternative diet such as clover or artificial diet.

Purpose: As the usage rate of all-terrain vehicles (ATV) the number of injuries caused by ATVs is also surging. This has led to an increase in social attention to the safety of ATVs and the law for ATV safety standards was revised in 2009 and 2011. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the characteristics of ATV injury compared with motorbike injury after implementation of the ATV safety policy. Methods: A retrospective cross-sectional observation study was conducted using emergent department (ED)-based indepth injury surveillance system data from 2011 January to 2014 December. Demographics, injury-related characteristics, injury severity, and outcomes of patients related to ATV and motorbike injury visiting our ED were analyzed. Multivariate logistic regression was used for major adverse event (MAE), which was defined as any intensive care, emergent operation, or death between ATV and motorbike related injury adjusted for covariates. Results: During the study period, there were 101 ATV- and 584 motorbike-related injuries. Females had more ATVrelated injuries (63.4% vs 32.9%, p<0.001) during leisure activities (93.1%) with higher helmet usage (73.3% vs 62.0%, p=0.01) and lower usage in terms of emergency medical service (23.8% vs 46.4%, p<0.001), automobile insurance (10.9% vs 54.1%, p<0.001) compared with motorbike- related injuries. MAE in ATV-related injuries was less likely in a univariate logistic model (unadjusted odd ratios [ORs] 0.489, 95% confidential intervals [Cis] 0.282 to 0.848), but the multivariate logistic model showed no significant difference (adjusted ORs 1.018, 95% CIs 0.376 to 1.414). Conclusion: Results of this study showed no significant difference in occurrence of clinical major adverse events between motorbikes and ATVs-related injury on Jeju Island. However, considering the high injury prevalence in young age, female, and passengers during leisure activities, development of an education and injury prevention program will be needed for this vulnerable population.
전략적 인재개발 프로세스를 적용한 핵심직무 전문가 양성사례

본 연구는 국내의 전통적인 식음료 제조기업인 A기업이 전략적 인재개발(Strategic Development of Talent: SDT) 프로세스를 적용하여 기업의 핵심역량과 연계된 핵심직무 전문가를 어떻게 선정하고 양성하는지에 대하여 구체적 사례를 기술하고 양성과정에서의 이슈를 분석한 질적인 사례연구이다. 본 연구의 자료는 주로 참여적 관찰 및 사업부 양성담당자 면담을 통하여 수집되었다. 연구의 결과, 핵심직무 전문가 양성을 위해서는 조직의 핵심역량과 연계하여 핵심직무 및 핵심직무 전문가를 선정하고, 양성의 목표인원을 설정한 후, 일을 통한 육성 및 경력개발을 실시하여야 하며 조직차원에서 핵심직무 전문가에게 비전을 제시하고 지속적인 양성과정 평가를 통해 핵심직무 전문가 양성 방법을 개선해 나가야 한다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 더불어 핵심직무 전문가 양성과정에서 생겨나는 핵심직무 선정의 정치성 문제, 사업부 전략의 부재로 인한 양성인원 산정의 어려움, 핵심직무 전문가 수준에 대한 사업부별 편차 조정, 핵심직무 전문가를 위한 외부 교육 프로그램의 부재, CDP운영에 있어서의 부서 이기주의, 핵심직무 전문가의 동기부여 수단의 선택, 핵심직무 전문가 양성에 대한 평가의 이슈 등을 해결해야 함을 알 수 있었다. This study was a qualitative case study which describes and analyzes a specific case of how to select and cultivate core specialists connected with corporation’s core competence. This study evaluated such processes within a specific Korean traditional food and beverage manufacturing company with applied SDT(Strategic Development of Talent) process. The data was mainly collected throughout participative observations and interviews with four human resource development staffs. This study found that, in order to cultivate core specialist, an organization needs to select core jobs and core specialists connected with a corporation’s core competency, to set up the number of target people, to implement cultivating programs through work experience and planned career development plan, to propose a clear vision, and to continuously improve the program by evaluating it. Also, this study revealed that an organization needs to solve problems (such as emerging political issue) when to select core jobs, the difficulty of setting up the number of target people resulting from absence of business strategy, adjustments of core specialist levels among business units, absence of specific training program for core specialist, business unit’s egoism in implementing CDP, choice of motivation methods for core specialists, and evaluation of problems with cultivating core specialists.

The present study demonstrates the effect of fibrates, agonists of PPARα on cytokines-induced proliferation in primary cultured astrocytes. Alone or combination treatment with cytokines, such as IL-1β (10 ng/ml), IFNγ (10 ng/ml), and TNF-α (10 ng/ml) cause a significant increase of cell proliferation in a time-dependent manner. Treatment of astrocytes with bezafibrate and fenofibrate (0, 5, and 10 μM) reduced the IFNγ and IL-1β-induced cell proliferation in a dose-dependent manner. To address the involvement of IL-6 on the IFNγ and IL-1β-induced cell proliferation, released IL-6 level was measured. IFNγ and IL-1β cause an increase of released IL-6 protein level in a time-dependent manner. Furthermore, pretreatment with IL-6 antibody (0, 0.1, 1, 2.5, and 5 ng/ml) dose-dependently inhibited the IFNγ and IL-1β-induced cell proliferation. However, bezafibrate and fenofibrate did not affect increased mRNA and protein levels of IL-6 in IFNγ and IL-1β-stimulated astrocytes. Taken together, these results clearly suggest that activation of PPARα attenuates the IFNγ and IL-1β-induced cell proliferation through IL-6 independent pathway.
