본 연구에서는 루비와 가넷을 감별하는데 첨단기기분석인 FT-IR, UV-VIS spectroscopy를 이용하였다. FT-IR을 이용한 분석결과 루비와 가넷의 격자진동에 의한 흡수 스펙트럼은 아주 다른 특성을 보여주었다. UV-VIS spectroscopy을 이용한 분석결과 루비는 적색과 청색영역에서 두개의 투과가 나타났고 이와 다르게 가넷은 오직 적색영역에서만 투과가 있다는 것을 알 수 있었다 이러한 결과를 토대로 루비와 가넷을 감별할 수 있는 컬러필터를 개발하였고 이를 HJH(Hwang Ji Ho) Filter라고 명명하였다. HJH Filter를 통해 봤을 때, 루비는 청색으로 보여지고 가넷은 진한 적색으로 보여졌다 이는 HJH Filter의 청색영역 투과도 때문이다. 스피넬, 투어멀린과 같은 또 다른 적색 보석들은 가릿과 같이 진한 적색으로 보여졌다. 이는 루비와 적색보석들을 감별하는데 유용한 결과가 있음을 알았다. The FT-IR absorption spectrum by the lattice vibrations of ruby and garnet obtained from FT-IR shows quite different characteristics. By the UV-VIS spectroscopy it was found that the ruby has two transmission bands in red and blue region, while garnet has only one transmission band in red region. The color filter to distinguish ruby from garnet was developed and named HWANG JI HO filter. Through the HWANG JI HO filter, ruby was shown in blue color and garnet was shown in dark red color because of the only the blue region transmittance of the filter. Other red stones, such as spinel, tourmaline were shown in dark red color like as garnet. The ruby could be recognized easily from the red stone.
마황윤폐탕(麻黃潤肺湯)이 호흡기 뮤신 분비 및 기관지 평활근에 미치는 영향

Objectives : The purpose of this study was to investigate whether Mahwangyunpye-tang(MYT) significantly affects mucin secretion from airway epithelial cells. Methods : Confluent hamster tracheal surface epithelial (HTSE) cells were metabolically radiolabeled with 3H-glucosamine for 24 hrs and chased for 30 min in the presence of MYT to assess the effect of the agent on 3H-mucin secretion. Total elution profiles of control spent media and treatment sample through Sepharose CL-4B column were analyzed. Effect of MYT on contractility of isolated tracheal smooth muscle was investigated; also investigated was effect of the agent on MUC5AC gene expression in cultured NCI-H292 cells. Possible cytotoxicities of the agent were assessed both by measuring lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) release from HTSE cells and examining the rate of survival and proliferation of NCI-H292 cells. Results : MYT significantly increased mucin secretion from cultured HTSE cells, without significant cytotoxicity. MYT chiefly affected the 'mucin' secretion. MYT inhibited Acetylcholine-induced contraction of isolated tracheal smooth muscle. MYT did not significantly affect the expression levels of MUC 5AC gene in cultured NCI-H292 cells. Conclusions : Based on the above results, it is suggested that MYT increased mucin secretion from cultured HTSE cells without significant cytotoxicity and inhibited contraction of isolated tracheal smooth muscle.

1. Objective The purpose of this study is to examine the characteristics and the improvement in the symptoms of the patients who administrated Hyungbangjihwang-tang. 2. Methods We examined 793 case report forms(CRFs) from six oriental medical hospitals and three regional oriental medicine clinics. These CRFs are recorded from november 2007 to july 2008. All constitutions of cases were diagnosed not only by Sasang constitution experts but also through clinical experiences. The traits of the patients and the effects of their treatment were examined. 3. Results and Conclusion 1. The chief complaints in which the patients showed improvement were Headache, fatigue, lumbago, dyspepsia. 2. The ordinary symptoms in which the patients showed improvement were insomnia, fatigue, constipation, dyspepsia, headache. 3. The average food intake of the patients was normal(65.2%) and their feces had intermediate hardness (semi-soft). The color of their urine was either clear or yellow. 4. The amount of the patients' sweat was appropriate (39.1%) Their water intake was approximately normal, and they preferred drinking the cold water. 5. Among the diseases that the patients previously had chronic gastritis(19.6%) had the highest frequencies. 4. Conclusion: The above results show that Hyungbangjihwang-tang can be considered beneficial to headache, fatigue, lumbargo, insomnia, constipation, dyspepsia patients whose food intake is normal, whose sweat level is either appropriate, who prefer to drink cold water, and who are suffering from chronic gastritis.

Epilepsy is a neurological condition that from time to time produces brief disturbances in the normal electrical functions of the brain, Normal brain function is made possible by millions of tiny electrical charges passing between nerve cells in the brain and to all parts of the body. They may affect a person's consciousness, bodily movements or sensations for a short time. These physical changes are called epileptic seizures. These clinical data, gathered an epileptic seizure whose main symptom was convulsion, was analyzed. This clinical report pertains to a 51 year-old man who suffered an epileptic seizure and after effects of weakness. He was treated with ChongsimOndamTang(淸心溫膽湯). The cheif symptom, epileptic seizure, disappeared and general conditions improved after Korean medical treatments, so this is reported as a potential treatment.

1. Objectives and Methods It has been examined 703 papers of Sasang Constitution Society published from 1989 to 2007. Among them, the study methods have been classified focused on 332 papers related to clinical research and the method of constitution diagnosis and subjects have been researched to research the reality of the clinical research of Sasang Constitutional Medicine. 2. Results 1. The rest studies are the most which can not be classified by existing study method among 332 clinical studies. 2. The study of patient control group is 17 cases and the clinical experiment is one case, so highly well-grounded studies have not been performed. 3. The most method of constitution diagnosis is the constitution diagnosis by experts and by QSCC. 4. The number of constitution diagnosis method performed in the research institution is within 2. They are 254 cases(89.5%). 5. The studies which utilize more than 3 constitution methods are 22 cases and the studies that use medical rash are 7cases(31.8) 6. The 215 cases that subjects are less than 100 are the most and 100${\sim}$500 subjects are 71 cases. 500${\sim}$10000 subjects are 33 cases and more than 1000 subjects are 15 cases. 3. Conclusions Therefore, it is needed to increase the rate of highly well-grounded studies and set the standard criteria by providing constitution diagnosis guideline.
황금이 천식모델 생쥐의 면역세포 및 사이토카인에 미치는 영향

objective : The purpose of this research is to examine the effects of Scutellaria Radix(SR) extract on immune cells and cytokines in ovalbumin(OVA)-induced asthmatic mice. Methods : In vivo, C57BL/6 mice were sensitized and handicapped by OVA for 9 weeks. In this experiment, one group was not treated, and the other group was treated with SR extract for six weeks(five times per week) and analyzed by ELISA and flow cytometer. Results : In vivo, there were significant decreases in eosinophils, IL-4, IL-13 in BALF (bronchoalveolar lavage fluid) compared with that of control group. However,$IFN{\gamma}$ in the SR group increased significantly compared with that of control group. Additionally, the population of $CD3e^-/CCR3^+,\;CD69^+/CD3e^+,\;IgE^+/B220^+,\;CD11b^+/Gr-1^+$ cells in the SR group decreased compared with that of control group. conclusion : The results of this study support a role for SR as an effective treatment for asthma in its experimental success in significantly decreasing inflammation and asthma reactions, and in increasing $IFN{\gamma}$, Which helps prevent such reactions.
