      A Study on the Utilization of Existing Innovation Information to the Improvement of Korea’s National Innovation System (NIS)

      The main aim of the study is to show how existing innovation studies have helped in the widespread of information needed to give better improvement for Korea’s national innovation system (NIS). Korea was selected as the study’s backdrop since it is very successful nations in building a NIS. We chose various papers published in two major innovation journals (the Journal of Korea Technology Innovation Society (J-KOTIS) and the Journal of Technology Innovation (JTI)) in Korea and assessed the essential subjects of these articles from the viewpoint of NIS research using a systematic review technique. Overall, We discovered that this study aided in the establishment of a knowledge foundation required for the growth of the NIS in Korea. The finding showed that the focus of the research worked from designing the NIS to implementing it for a long time. The industrial areas that sectoral innovation systems (SIS) were given attention to changing with Korea’s economic progress all the time as a subsystem of the NIS. This research adds to the sector of innovation studies by providing a complete picture of findings from NIS studies in Korea’s innovation literature, as well as a theoretical framework for organizing it. The NIS has been regarded as a useful instrument for comparing and measuring creative performance and economic outcomes, and this work adds to our understanding of it.

      Comparison of outcomes between radical hysterectomy followed by tailored adjuvant therapy versus primary chemoradiation therapy in IB2 and IIA2 cervical cancer

      Objective: The purpose of this study was to determine the predictive factors for residual/recurrent disease and to analyze the timing for Pap smears and human papillomavirus (HPV) testing during follow-up after loop electrosurgical excision procedure (LEEP) for cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN) 2 or worse. Methods: We retrospectively analyzed 183 patients (mean age, 39.3 years) with CIN 2/3 who were treated with LEEP. Post-LEEP follow-up was performed by Pap smear and HPV hybrid capture2 (HC2) testing. The definition of persistent/recurrent disease was biopsy-proven CIN 2 or worse. Results: Among 183 patients, punch biopsies were CIN 2 in 31 (16.9%) and CIN 3 in 152 (83.1%). HPV HC2 tests before LEEP were positive in 170 (95.5%) of 178 patients. During follow-up, 12 patients (6.6%) had residual/recurrent CIN 2+. LEEP margin status was a significant predictive factor for persistent/recurrent disease. Other factors such as age, HPV HC2 viral load (≥100 relative light units), and HPV typing (type 16/18 vs. other types) did not predict recurrence. Early HPV HC2 testing at 3 months after LEEP detected all cases of residual/recurrent disease. The sensitivity and negative predictive value of the HPV HC2 test for residual/recurrent disease were both 100% at 3 and 6 months. Conclusion: Margin involvement in conization specimens was a significant factor predicting residual/recurrent disease after LEEP. HPV test results at 3 and 6 months after treatment were comparable. Early 3-month follow-up testing after LEEP can offer timely information about residual/recurrent disease and alleviate patient anxiety early about treatment failure.       Role of high risk-human papilloma virus test in the follow-up of patients who underwent conization of the cervix for cervical intraepithelial neoplasia

      Objective: To examine whether the presence of high risk-human papilloma virus (HR-HPV) after conization of the cervix was a risk factor for persistence or recurrence of cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN) and whether HR-HPV test could be a guideline for post-therapy surveillance. Methods: The study retrospectively analyzed data from 243 patients who underwent LLETZ or CKC of the cervix due to CIN. Results: A positive HR-HPV test result which was performed between 3 and 6 months after procedure was a risk factor for persistent or recurrent cytological (p<0.001, odds ratio [OR]=22.51, 95% confidence interval [CI]= 9.74-52.02) and pathological (p<0.001, OR=18.28, 95% CI=5.55-60.20) abnormalities. Conclusion: HR-HPV positive patients between 3 and 6 months after procedure should undergo frequent and meticulous post-therapy surveillance, while HR-HPV negative patients do not require such high-level surveillance and could undergo routine surveillance.     • Ethanol의 低溫心臟에 對한 抗細動作用에 關한 硏究

      This experimental study was performed to clarify the antifibrillatory effects of intravenous infusion of ethanol upon hypothermic hearts. Thirty six mongrel dogs were anesthetized with thiopental sodium and were ventilated with mechanical respirator throughout the experiment. Ethanol, 2.0g/kg, diluted with 5% dextrose solution was intravenously administered in divided doses for the expermental dogs and same amount of 5% dextrose solution for control dogs. Animals were cooled with ice water and rewarmed with hot water. Heart rates and cardiac arrhythmia were checked by ECG. Central venous pressure, right ventricular and pulmonary arterial pressures were measured by means of cardiac catheterization. Animals were divided into two groups. Group 1. Twenty dogs were cooled until death. Among those, 10 experimental dogs were infused ethanol intravenously. Group 2. Sixteen dogs were cooled down to body temperature of 20℃, when cardiac inflow and out-flow were occluded for the period of 15 minutes. Then rewarmed the animals. The results were as follows. 1. Heart rates, arterial pressure, right ventricular and pulmonary arterial pressures were markedly decreased during the period of cooling. Ethanol infusion showed no significant influence upon those decreases. 2. Central venous pressure increased to the level of right heart failure of the cooled animal, and ethanol revealed no protective action on cardiac impairment. 3. In group 1, 10% of ventricular fibrillation was seen among the ethanol infused dogs while 30% of ventricular fibrilltion among the control group. In group 2, there was no significant difference of ventricular fibrillation between ethanol and control groups. 4. Ethanol blood level at 20℃ of body temperature was 636mg%. 5. It was suspected that ethanol failed to protect the hypothermic heart from ventricular fibrillation when cardiac inflow were occluded for the 15 minutes of period.

      한영 병렬 코퍼스 구축을 위한 하이브리드 기반 문장 자동 정렬 방법

      The recent growing popularity of statistical methods in machine translation requires much more large parallel corpora. A Korean-English parallel corpus, however, is not yet enoughly available, little research on this subject is being conducted. In this paper we present a hybrid method of aligning sentences for Korean-English parallel corpora. We use bilingual news wire web pages, reading comprehension materials for English learners, computer-related technical documents and help files of localized software for building a Korean-English parallel corpus. Our hybrid method combines sentence-length based and word-correspondence based methods. We show the results of experimentation and evaluate them. Alignment results from using a full translation model are very encouraging, especially when we apply alignment results to an SMT system: 0.66% for BLEU score and 9.94% for NIST score improvement compared to the previous method.
