      • Histone deacetylase 3 is selectively involved in L3MBTL2-mediated transcriptional repression

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P><P>This is the first report that L(3)mbt-like 2 (L3MBTL2) specifically interacts with the histone deacetylase domain of histone deacetylase 3 (HDAC3) via its MBT domain. Here, we show that L3MBTL2 selectively interacts with HDAC3, but not other class I HDACs. An in vitro peptide-binding assay demonstrated the specific association of HDAC3 with methylated histone-K20 tail and L3MBTL2. Furthermore, depletion of HDAC3 resulted in a decrease of methylated K20-H4, as well as an increase in acetylated histone H3. Consequently, HDAC3 knock-down selectively suppressed L3MBTL2-mediated transcriptional repression.         <P><B>Abstract</B></P><P>Calmodulin-regulated protein phosphorylation plays a pivotal role in amplifying and diversifying the action of calcium ion. In this study, we identified a calmodulin-binding receptor-like protein kinase (CBRLK1) that was classified into an S-locus RLK family. The plasma membrane localization was determined by the localization of CBRLK1 tagged with a green fluorescence protein. Calmodulin bound specifically to a Ca<SUP>2+</SUP>-dependent calmodulin binding domain in the C-terminus of CBRLK1. The bacterially expressed CBRLK1 kinase domain could autophosphorylate and phosphorylates general kinase substrates, such as myelin basic proteins.         Rosa maxinowicziana Regel (Rosaceae) is a deciduous, latifoliate shrub growing in most parts of Korea. The sprout of this plant has been used for food, and the fruit for treating thirst. Also, the root of this plant has been used for rheumatism in a Korean folk medicine. From the roots of this plant, three triterpenoids were isolated and the structures were es-tablished on the basis of spectral and chemical evidence. So, these compounds are 3β-hydroxylup-30-ene-28-oic acid(betulinic acid), 2α, 3α, 19α-trihydroxyurs-12-ene-28-oic acid(euscaphic acid) and 2α, 3β, 19α-trihydroxyurs-12-ene-28-oic acid(tormentic acid), respectively.

        Multiloop Edgewise Arch Wire의 tip back 정도에 따른 응력 분포에 관한 유한요소법적 연구

        임상에서 다양하게 사용되는 Multiloop Edgewise Arch Wire(MEAW)는 구치부 치아의 치축 직립을 위해 Ⅱ급 고무줄이나 수직고무줄과 함께 사용된다. 이때 tip backbend의 정도는 각 환자의 구치치축의 근심경사의 정도에 따라 가감이 결정되나 이 장치가 실제 치근막에서 어떤 효과를 나타내는지 정확히 알려진 바는 없다. 이에 저자는 MEAW의 역학적 효과를 알아보기 위해 tip back bend의 정도를 변화시킨 후 Ⅱ급 고무줄, 수직고무줄을 적용시켜 유한요소법을 통해 치근막에서 발생되는 응력의 분포와 크기를 정량적으로 비교, 관찰하여 장치의 역계를 이해하고 치료효과를 예측해 보고자 실험을 고안하였다. 발치나 교정치료의 경험이 없는 25세 남자 정상교합자를 대상으로 컴퓨터 단층촬영을 시행하여 얻은 방사선필림을 기초로 하여 유한요소 상악치아모델과, 치근막모델을 제작하였으며 여기에 beam element로 제작된 MEAW의 tip back bend를 5도, 10도, 15도로 달리하여 Ⅱ급 고무줄 및 수직고무줄을 적용시켜 각 치근막에서의 압축, 인장력의 분포와 응력의 크기를 상호 비교한 결과 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다. 1.MEAW에 tip back bend를 5도, 10도, 15도로 부여하고 Ⅱ급 고무줄이나 수직고무줄을 적용시켰을때 전체 치근막에 나타나는 압축, 인장의 분포는 Ⅱ급 고무줄, 수직고무줄 각각의 경우에서 tip back bend의 정도에 상관없이 유사한 양상을 나타냈다. 2.각 치아의 치근막에 나타난 압축, 인장력의 크기는 5도, 10도의 경우보다 15도 tip back bend 부여시 더 크게 나타났다. 3.제1, 2대구치 원심측 치근막에서는 압축력이 나타났으며 특히 제2대구치 치근막의 압축부위가 제1대구치 치근막 압축부위보다 더 넓고 압축력의 크기도 더 크게 나타났다. 또한tip back bend정도가 클수록 압축력도 크고 압축부위도 더 넓게 나타났다. 4.대구치 치근막의 압축력은 소구치 치근막의 압축력보다 상대적으로 더 작게 나타났다. 5.Ⅱ급 고무줄과 수직고무줄 적용 시를 비교해 보면 수직고무줄 장착시 전치부 치근막에 인장력이 더 넓게, 그 크기는 더 작게 나타났다. 반면에 구치부 치근막에 나타나는 응력의 분포와 크기는 별 차이를 보이지 않았다. 6.전치부 치근막 인장부위에서 인장력은 견치에서 제일 컸다. This study have been carried out to find out the mechnical effect of Multiloop Edgewise Arch Wire(MEAW) making use of the finite element method. The tip back bend of MEAW taken in this analysis is 5˚, 10˚ and 15˚. In addition, Class II or up & down elastic is applied to find out stress distribution and their values in PDL. A adult male of normal occlusion was selected to create the models of teeth and PDL. And the model of MEAW was also created using commercial finite element code (ANSYS version 5.2). The MEAW is forcibly engaged with a class II or up & down elastic, to determine the initial stress generated in PDL. Comparing the compressive and tensile stress at each reference-planes, following results are obtained. 1.When a MEAW of 5˚, 10˚, 15˚ tip back bend was engaged with Class II or up & down elastic, the distribution of compressive, tensile stress in entire PDL is similar in each case. 2.The values of compressive and tensile stress in PDL is higher in 15˚ tip back bend case than in 10˚ or 5˚ tip back bend case. 3.In the distal PDL of 1st and 2nd molar, compressive stress appears. The compressive area is more wide and its values is higher in PDL of 2nd molar than those in 1st molar. The compressive area and its values become more wide and higher according to the increase of the tip back bend. 4.The values of compressive stress are comparatively smaller in PDL of molars than those in premolars. 5.Comparing class II and up & down elastic case, tensile stress values in anterior teeth PDL are smaller and their distribution is more wide in up & down elastic case than class II elastic case. On another hand, there is no difference in distribution and stress values in PDL of posterior teeth between two cases. 6.Comparing the tensile area in PDL of anterior teeth, tensile stress values are maximum in PDL of canine.

      • 여성성과 타자성의 도덕교육적 함의 : 길리간과 레비나스를 중심으로 On the basis of C. Gilligan's and E. Levinas' Philosophy

        There is a fundamental limit in Kohlberg's masculinity-oriented morality which is based on the ruling discourse of the ethics in modern. Modern education, engrossed in the instrumentalized rationality, which has grown a self-centered man, can't deal with the fundamentals resulting in the present crisis. So, this study analyzed the philosophy of 'femininity' through not only Gilligan who emphasizes womanly activities such as care and concern, but Levinas who confirms that emotion in the ethics of 'otherness' is the main factor accounting for the relationship between self and other. This study, above all, on the basis of Gilligan's and Levinas' philosophy, examined 'otherness' and 'femininity' represented by 'softness', 'compliance', 'empathy', 'sympathy', 'concern', 'love' and 'care', which have been relatively disregarded by the masculinity-oriented society represented by 'justice', 'right' and 'moral reason'. Through these, this study indicated the limitations of modern education, especially, moral education which has been centered on autonomous and rational reason, and suggested the education which recognizes the perception and experience of 'femininity' and 'otherness' causing 'responsibility', 'care for other', 'concern, love and affection', etc. As a result, this study claimed that through the stepping stone of 'femininity' and 'otherness', new discourse of moral education should be put into practice which can bring back the precious human value and the vision of life lost for so long and achieve the happy society.

        인천지역 여자 중학생의 식습관이 비만에 미치는 영향

        The 297 middle school girls in Inchon were devided into three groups according to body mass index (BMI), the underweight group, the normal weight group and obese group to find out relationship between their food habits, food preference, and obesity. The average height and weight are 159.40㎝, 67.02㎏ for obese group, 158.17㎝, 39.11㎏ for underweight group, 156.93㎝, 53.78㎏ for normal weight group. Obese group feels that they are healthy and fat, and their parents are fat also than the other groups. Obese group took more exercise. Total Food habits scores of obese group were lower than the other two groups. In terms of supper, bedtime-snack, unbalanced diet, balanced intake of five basic food groups, obese group had lower scores. Especially, intake of carbohydrate, protein, milk group were irregular. There is no significant different in size of meal, overeating, eating speed. The preferences of fast food, instant food, high caloric density food were lower in obese group than in the other two groups. The mother of obese group prepared meals according to food composition and prepared little snacks.

        정신분열증과 양극성장애 환자의 기억수행

        This study was to investigate the memory performance and affective memory of the patients with schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. The subjects consisted of 3 groups-16 schizophrenics. 16 bipolar disorder patients and 16 normal controls. Memory performance test was conducted to each group after they were matched according to age, sex, scaled score of information of Korean Wechsler Intelligence scale, duration of total admission, frequency of hospitalization, duration of illness and daily dose of antipsychotics. And then, analyses were done by scores of recall task and recognition task, scores of memory clustering of recall task and memory strategies. The results were as follows : 1) For the total and pleasnt word recall, the schizophrenics and bipolar disorder patients showed significantly low scores than normal controls(p<.01). But there was no significant difference between schizophrenic group and bipolar disorder group. 2) For the memory clustering of the recall task, the schizophrenics and bipolar disorder patients showed significantly low scores on memory clustering than normal controls(p<.01). But there was no significant difference between schizophrenic group and bipolar disorder group. 3) For the total and pleasant word recognition, the schizophrencs showed significantly low scores than normal controls(p<.05), but there was no significant difference between bipolar disorder group and normal controls. And also, there was no significant difference between schizophrenic group and bipolar disorder group. 4) Memory deficits in schizophrenics were due to the problem in memory strategies.

        항공사 승무원의 비행 스트레스와 식행동에 관한 연구

        This study investigated the relationship among the flight stress, disease and eating behavior of the Airline cabin crews. Self administered questionnaires were collected from three hundred and twenty cabin crews. Statistical data analysis was completed using a SPSS v.10.0 program. The results were summarized as follows: Before the flight, the maladaptation to the oversea foods was the most common stress for the crews less than one year flight experience. During the flight, fastidious arrangement and loss of appetite due to overwork were the most common stresses. After the flight, anorexia due to jet lag was the most common stress. Backache and stomachache were the most common job-related ailments of the airline cabin crews. During the flight, the intakes of carbonated drinks and coffee were most common. After the flight, water was the most common drink they consumed.

      • Helicobacter pylori가 만성위염과 위종양에 미치는 영향에 관한 면역조직화학적 밑 초미세구조적 연구

        Background and Objectives : Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) is accepted as a principal cause of chronic gastritis and an important factor in the pathogenesis of peptic ulcer and gastric malignancy. The aim of our studies is to investigate relationships between H. pylori and gastric epithelial cells. Materials ðods : One hundred and eighty one H. pylori positive cases of gastric biopsy specimens were studied immunohistochemically and ultrastructurally. Results : p53 positive staining exhibited foveolar epithelial hyperplasia in 1 out of 32 cases, regeneration in 2 out of 12 cases, incomplete intestinal metaplasia in 5 out of 41 cases, complete intestinal metaplasia in 3 out of 18 cases, chronic ulcer in 1 out of 9 cases, tubular adenoma in 2 out of 14 cases and intestinal type of adenocarcinoma in 16 out of 21 cases. Ultrastructurally, H. pylori was observed to be in direct contact with the microvilli of the target cells and was demolishing the surface microvilli. The organisms were in close contact with the uncoated cell membrance. Penetration into the gastric cells by a few organisms was associated with marked cell damage and ultimately to cell disintegration. Conclusion : Our results suggest that H. pylori plays a role in the pathogenesis of gastric cancer, leading a relatively slow, long lasting process that induces chronic active gastritis, intestinal metaplasia, dysplasia, and adenocarcinoma of intestinal type.

      • 推出 分光光度法에 의한 水銀의 定量法에 關한 硏究

        Extraction-spectrophotometric determination of mercury(Ⅱ) was studied by associated complex formation using antipyrine, antipyretics and eosin, halogenated xanthenes. K₂SO₄was added for the promotion of complex formation and it's optimal concentration was 0.3M. Optiaml conditions for the quantitative analysis of trace of mercury(Ⅱ) were investigated. Molar ratio of Hg(Ⅱ)-antipyrine-eosin complex was presumed as 1:4:2. Linear calibration curve was obtained in the range of 6~28㎍/㎖ at 485nm. Mercury(Ⅱ) determination of this method was interfered in the presence of metals such as ??, ??,, ??, ?? and ??, halides an dthiocyanate, but the interferences of metals except ?? were masked with 0.01M-sod. tartrate.
