The purpose of this study is to analyze the statistical contribution of anthropometrical and physiological characteristics underlying 5,000 meter running performance in 5 high schools(group A) and 5 national representative(group B) male distance runners. 1.The relationship between heights(168.80cm vs 169.40cm) in 5,000 meter running performance was not significant in group A and group B, but the relationship between weights(53.80kg vs 59.20kg) in 5,000 meter running performance was significant in grouts B. 2.There were no differences in maximal heart rates(192 vs 192.40) between two groups A and B. 3.There was no significant relationship between VO2 max and 5,000 meter performance for both(76.96㎖/kg/min vs 79.80㎖/kg/min). 4.Blood lactate concentration of recovery phase was shown a significantly high lactate removal ability in group B, compared with group A(P<.02, P<.04, P<.01). 5.It was pointed out that the important causes of anthropometrical and physical attributes were ① before lactate acid ② weight ③ height (r=0.82, -0.75, 0.64) in group A. ① before lactate acid ② recovery blood lactate ③ VO2 max (r=0.75, -0.65, 0.65) in group B in the long distance running performance. As a result, it was been pointed out that a number of anthropometrical and physical attributes such as body size, body composition, running economy, pulmonary function, cardiovascular-respiratory function and running history as well as maximal oxygen consumption are relatively relevant to success in the long distance running performance. Based on the statistical analysis, high school(group A) male distance runners made more oxygen consumption and lactate than those of group B.

Heat treatment is applied to orthodontic wires in order to relieve the stress that results from cold working and the orthodontists manipulations. In this study, 4 types of wires were heat-treated in an air, argon or vacuum environment, and were either cooled in a furnace or a water bath. Corrosion properties of the heat-treated wires were investigated by potentiodynamic method. The difference of corrosion resistance between the wires heat-treated in an ambient according to cooling methods was not significant. After heat-treated in an ambient, both water-cooled and furnace-cooled wires had a similar and low corrosion resistance. The difference of corrosion resistance between the wires heat-treated n a vacuum environment with cooling methods was significant. After heat-treated in a vacuum, the furnace-cooled wires had high corrosion resistance, but the water-cooled wires low. After heat-treated in a vacuum, argon, or air environments, the water-cooled wires had low corrosion resistance. It was considered because the irregular and unstable film was formed on the surface of the wires when cooled in a water bath. The control wires showed a low current density and high pitting potential, but most of the heat-treated wires did high current density and low pitting potential except for the wire heat-treated in vacuum and then cooled in a furnace. Conclusively, orthodontic wires are considered to have to be heat treated in vacuum condition or inert gas environment and then to be cooled in a furnace in order to inhibit surface oxidation, minimize the decrease of corrosion resistance and improve the mechanical properties.
브랜딩 아로마 에센셜오일의 항스트레스효과에 대한 실험연구

Objectives: This study was performed to evaluate the antistress effects of two aromatic blends being composed of synergic essential oils and also to differentiate its effectiveness between two. Methods: The subject were 20(10 for men, 10 for women) for vital factors and another 20(10 for mem, 10 for women) for serum catecholamine. Vital factors(blood pressure, pulse), electroencephalograpy, psychological tests(SACL, STAI) and serum catecholamine were applied to the subjects. Results: 1. All two aromatic synergic blends revealed no significant differnce of vital factors after inhalation but stable conditions generally by lowering pulse and blood pressure after inhalation. 2. Both blends were significantly valuable in antianxiety and antistress effects statistically. There were no statistically difference between two blends. 3. There were no significant difference in all brain waves after inhalation of two blends but generally stable brain waves were seen in all areas. 4. There were antistress effects of both blends in accordance of decreased serum catecholamines after inhalation of both blends. There were no significantly difference between two blends statistically. Conclusion: Both two aromatic synergic blends reached effective antistress and antianxiety states after inhalation of each blends. There were no siginificant difference between two blends. Further studies about the effectiveness between the amount of aromatic essential oils and the duration of inhalation should be considered. Also clinical applications of these two aromatic synergic blending oils to develop the aromatic products would be affordable in the future.
치료저항 정신분열병환자에서 Clozapine의 효과 및 안전성

In order to assess the efficacy and safety of clozapine, 50 in-patients with treatment-resistanat schizophrenia were evaluated using PANSS(Positive and Negative Symptome Scale for Schizophrenia), CGI(Clinical Global Impression), AMS(Abnormal Involuntary Movement Scale), Adverse Event-Somatic Symptoms, Neurological Rating Scale for EPS before and during treatment. Mean daily dosage of clozapine was 344.15±123.43mg at 12th week. A clinically significant improvement in positive, negative, and general psychopathology was noted as early as week 2 through 12 week. The tolerability of clozapine was generally found to be good. Drowsiness/sleepiness, Hypersalivation, and Constipation were the most common side effects. There was no neutropenia, and 3 patients suffered from seizures. These results suggest that clozapine is worth considering for the treatment-resistant patients

Plant Sci. 94: 845-850. The cucumber genome contains 23 lipoxygenase (LOX) genes. The expression of seven type-I and six type-II LOX genes was induced when cucumber leaves were challenged with Sphaerotheca fuliginea and treated with salicylic acid, methyl jasmonate, and abscisic acid. These 13 CsLOX genes were differentially regulated during biotic and abiotic stresses. </P>
