Al-Mg base alloys are attractive for aircraft. automobile and leisure applications because of their properties of low density, high intensity and wear resistance. The effect of Zn and Mn on the properties was studied in an Al-Mg base alloy. After T6 heat-treatment, the change of the microstructure and mechanical property was examined. Our investigations show that after T6 heat-treatment, the elongation was improved. The microstructures are investigated by TEM, which shows that the size of Al6Mn, Al57Mn12 phase is 100~500nm, and it also appears presence of the very small size MgZn₂ phase about 30nm.

9-12%Cr steel are getting increasing attention for expanded application as high temperature materials applicable for gas turbine compressors, steam turbine rotors, blade and casing. For efficient and extensive application of 9-12%Cr steel, the data in addition to the improvement of mechanical properties on the correlation of microstructural evolution and mechanical properties are inevitable and thus the investigation in this study is performed for the determination for the specimens heat-treated at 600, 650 and 700℃ for 1000, 3000 and 5000hrs. The microstructure of as-received specimen was tempered martensite, with a high dislocation density and secondary phases. Upon high temperature heat-treatment, the martensite lath got larger and dislocation density decreased resulting the reduction of the strength. In addition, sharp growth of secondary phases was observed in the specimen heat-treated at 700℃ for 5000hrs. A specimen aged at 600℃ and 650℃ Laves phase was observed. The hardness showed close relationship with the secondary phase particle and dislocation density.

Evolution of microstructure and its relation with hardness in the modified 9%Cr-1%Mo steel which was isothermally heat-treated has been investigated in various heat-treatment temperatures and time of duration. For microstructural and crystallographic analyses, optical microscope, scanning and transmission electron microscopes, energy dispersive spectrometer, and X-ray diffractometer were used. Vickers microhardness tester were used for the measurement of hardness. Precipitates of the complex M23C6, M(C,N) formed at grain boundaries and interiors of grains had led to the secondary hardening. Normalized specimen and all of the isothermally heat-treated ones showed no evidence of retained austenite.
췌십이지장절제술 후 발생한 지속적인 구토증과 Wernicke 뇌병증

Wernicke encephalopathy is an acute neurologic disorder attributable to thiamine (vitamin B1) deficiency. We report the case of a 61-year-old female patient who presented Wernicke encephalopathy after surgery for pancreatic head cancer. From the ninth postoperative day, she had suffered from nausea and vomiting and had difficulties ingesting food, she was given total parenteral nutrition (TPN), but lacked adequate vitamin (thiamine) supplementation. After 28 days, she developed ataxia, ophthalmoplegia, and mental confusion. The magnetic resonance image showed pathologic changes in the medial thalamus,periaqueductal gray matter, medulla and mamillary bodies. The blood level of thiamine was very low. After intravenous and oral supplementation of thiamine (200 mg/day), consciousness was soon normalized and neurologic symptoms have gradually been improving. Nausea and vomiting disappeared after administration of a low dose of mirtazapine (7.5 mg/day). We emphasize the importance of thiamine supplementation to the patients who suffer from vomiting which hinders them from taking food and who require prolonged TPN.

This study was intended to research into the possibility of corilagin (CRN) isolated from Euphorbia helioscopia as rheumatoid arthritis drug. For the study, CRN was medicated to the abdominal cavity of collagen induced arthritis (CIA) mice that was a animal model for rheumatoid arthritis and its effects on incidence and arthritis index (AI) were studied. The results were as folllows; Medicating corilagin that were isolated from Euphorbia heliscopia to CIA mice resulted in inhibiting an incidence of arthritis and reducing in arthritis index. It was found that inflammatory cells were remarkably decreased and joint cavity was well secured. Also it was displayed that the formation of pannus was not observed and a cartilage was preserved well by cell histological research. Performing fluorescence flow cytometry of CIA mice resulted in reducing in inflammatory cells infiltrated each tissue.
고에너지 전자빔투사방법에 의해 제조된 TiB2 표면합금화 재료의 미세조직 연구

The present study is concerned with the processing and the microstructural analysis of surface alloyed materials with TiB₂ powders using irradiation of high-energy electron beam. The mixtures of TiB₂ powders and flux were deposited on a plain carbon steel plate, and then electron beam was irradiated on these mixtures using an electron beam accelerator. The microstructures of the irradiated surface layers were examined by optical and scanning electron microscopy. A few residual micropores were found in the sample processed without flux, but their number was decreased in the samples processed with a considerable amount of flux. As a result of irradiation, the Ti content was homogeneously maintained throughout the melted region, whose hardness was greatly improved. This was associated mainly with the microstructural modification including the segregation of Ti and B along solidification cell boundaries and the formation of fine Ti(C,M) particles.

While object-oriented models are effective in achieving sharing and code reusability, they unfortunately lack a mechanism for giving scope to objects. We revisit an object-oriented model in which each object can be given a scope. We illustrate the usefulness of this model by showing that it supports the notion of parameterized modules without difficulty.

Gastroduodenal intussusception is an rare condition usually caused by prolapse of a gastric tumor with subsequent invagination of a portion of the stomach wall into the duodenum. Symptoms are protean, but classically patients have presented with episodic epigastric abdominal distress, a history of intermittent vomiting and gastroduodenal bleeding, either as melena, hematochezia, or stools positive for occult blood. Examination generally discloses a fullness or mass in the epigastrium. Its typical radiologic presentation includes luminal narrowing, distally converging gastric folds, infolding and outpouching of the gastric wall, a filling defect, and a coil-spring pattern. A 71-year-old man was admitted for epigastric pain and melena which required blood transfusions. Endoscopy showed an unexplained pulling-down of part of the gastric body and the pylorus couldn't be identified. An upper GI barium examination demonstrated a huge lobulated mass from the distal antrum of stomach to the duodenal cap. On abdominal sonography, double contour of stomach wall was seen at the proximal portion of narrowing stomach. At surgery, a large, intraluminally exophyting gastric mass prolapsed into duodenum was excised and diagnosed as leiomyoma of stomach.
