        Toluene, Xylene, Trichloroethylene 투여가 흰쥐의 시상하부와 뇌하수체의 GnRH, GnRH Receptor, Pit-1 유전자 발현에 미치는 영향

        The workplace exposure of chemicals has steadily increased, therefore the concern for subsequent effect on reproductive outcome has been an important issue in occupational medicine. In previous studies, higher rates of spontaneous abortion, reduced fertility and menstrual disorder among women, and an impairement of sperm quantity and quality among men have been associated with a wide variety of chemical agents. This study was conducted to evaluate the effects of toluene, xylene and trichloroethylene(TCE) injection on the mRNA levels of GnRH, GnRH receptor and Pit-1 genes in male rats hypothalamus and pituitary and the effects on the plasma levels of FSH, LH, prolactin and testosterone. Sprague-Dawley male rats were divided into five groups of five each according to concentration of toluene, xylene and TCE. The rats were injected subcutaneously to 0, 50, 100, 200, 400 mg/kg body weight/day of toluene, xylene and TCE, respectively for 6 days. Rat brains were excised and hypothalamus and pituitary were separated. Reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) and RNase protection assay(RPA) were used to evaluate the GnRH, GnRH receptor and Pit-1 mRNA levels. Plasma concentrations of FSH, LH, prolactin and testosterone were assayed by radioimmunoassay(RIA). The results were as follows; 1. GnRH, GnRH receptor and Pit-1 mRNA levels in toluene and xylene injected groups, and GnRH receptor mRNA levels in TCE injected group were lowered dose-dependently. Especially, GnRH receptor and Pit-1 mRNA levels in 200mg/kg of toluene injected group, and GnRH, GnRH receptor and Pit-1 mRNA levels in 400mg/kg of toluene injected group were significantly lower than control group (p<0.05). GnRH receptor and Pit-1 mRNA levels in 400mg/kg of xylene injected group, and GnRH receptor mRNA levels in 400mg/kg of TCE injected group were significantly lower than control group(p<0.05). 2. The plasma levels of prolactin and testosterone in 400mg/kg of toluene injected group, and LH in 100, 200 and 400mg/kg of xylene injected group, and testosterone in 400 mg/kg of TCE injected group were significantly lower than control group(p<0.05). In conclusion, we speculated that toluene and xylene affected reproductive system secondarily through hypothalamus-pituitary axis, and TCE affected directly through steroidogenesis. And we recommended that further study for assessment of the reproductive toxicity of mixed organic solvent exposures should be conducted.

      • 아연계 탈황제의 장기연속 반응성 연구

        The zinc titanate sorbents(ZTG40) were prepared and the tests for durability and attrition resistance were carried out to develop the highly effective desulfurization sorbents. In the attrition tests for ZTG40 the results showed that the attrition resistance was 94.08% and that the sulfur capacity was maintained above 15g S/100g sorbent throughout the 100-cycle test, its maximum being 23.05g S/100g sorbent. As compared to sorbents developed by the developed countries, ZTG40 showed superior performances. In the advanced countries 15g S/100g sorbent is a yardstick of excellency for the sulfur capacity of desulfurization sorbents. Therefore, ZTG40 developed in this study has the desirable physical and chemical properties for fluidized desulfurization of coal gases.

        Discordance in Spirometric Interpretations Based on Korean and Non-Korean Reference Equations

        Objectives: Korean regression models for spirometric reference values are different from those of other ethnic groups. The purpose of this study was to evaluate discordance in spirometric interpretations based on using Korean reference equations versus non-Korean reference equations. Methods: Spirometry was performed on 825 Korean male workers from April 2009 to November 2011. The spirometric patterns and disease severity were evaluated using two Korean equations (Choi’s and Lee’s) and three equations for Caucasians (NHANES III, Morris’s, and Knudson’s), and the results of Choi’s equation were compared with the non-Korean equations. The spirometric patterns were defined as normal, restrictive, and mild and moderate obstructive. Results: The mean differences in the FEV1% and FVC% between the two Korean equations were 2.0 ± 1.3% and 3.5 ± 2.2%, respectively. Morris’s equation had the greatest difference in the FEV1% from Choi’s equation: 32.9 ± 8.5%. Knudson’s equation had the greatest difference in the FVC% from Choi’s equation: 10.5 ± 6.5%. Conclusions: The two Korean equations shared similar characteristics of spirometric interpretation. The spirometric interpretations of Choi’s equation were significantly different from those of Morris’s equation and Knudson’s equation.

        This study was conducted to determine the contents of heavy metals in leaves of roadside trees according to different growth stages in Daegu city. The orders of heavy metal contents in leaves of roadside tree and soil were Fe〉Mn〉Zn〉Pb〉Cu〉Cr〉Cd and Fe〉Mn〉Zn〉Cu〉Pb〉Cr〉Cd, respectively. The contents of heavy metals in leaves of roadside trees and soil showed an increasing tendency as the levels of traffic volume increased. The contents of heavy metals in leaves on October were higher than those on May.

      • 부산지역 모 공단 및 인근지역 사업체의 산업보건 실태에 관한 조사연구

        부산지역 공단 및 인근지역 사업체의 산업보건실태를 파악하기 위하여 205개 사업체의 보건담당자를 대상으로 1990년도의 보건실태에 관한 설문조사를 하였다. 조사내용을 일반사항, 보건관리실태에 관한 사항, 작업장 유해환경 및 보호구 지급사항, 건강관련 사항 및 근무조건에 관한 사항 등으로 대별하여 분석ㆍ관찰하였다. In order to obtain the fundamental data for developing more effective and acceptable programs of public health manegement in an industrial complex, 205 health manager in the plants answered the questionaire of the status of industrial health during 1990. The questionaire consisted of general charateristics, health care status, environmental problems, health problems, and others. 72.4% of 205 plants had less than 100 workers. Fabricated metal manufacture was 32.4%. Although Footwear manufacture was 6.4%, the percentage of workers was 33.1% of total workers. The percentage(56.2) of retired women was higher than that(38.2) of men. 51.9% of total plants has recieving group health care services. 85.4% of plants was exposed to noise, 66.5% was exposed to dust. Ear plug and mask were given to prevent noise and dust in 69.2% and 68.6%, respectively. Among 22,299 workers, 618(2.8%) were diagnosed as suspected non-occupatinal disease. 85.9% of them worked on continuously and had their disease treated. The cases suspected for occupational disease was 100 workers. 82.5% of them changed their post. 45% had the compensation for their occuaptional disease. The rate of working: accidents was 2.3%.

      • 청소년 스포츠에서의 TV 영향에 관한 연구

        Each 200 boys and girls, totally 800 students who were living in big, medium and small cities in metropolitan area except Seoul were selected for questionnaire in other to analyze the effects of TV program on the sports participation of middle school students. According to the data the way of statistical χ^2 test with percent(%) were used. As a result, I gained following conclusions. ① TV sports programs are the most important media for teaming sports knowledge. ② TV sports programs were seen 30minutes or less on weekdays and boys watched TV sportscast much more than girls. They were seen an hour or less on the holidays and boys watched TV sportscast much more than girls. ③ Because of no interest on the sports, many students didn't watch TV sports programs. If the students who had no interest on it watched TV sportscast, many students of them watched on it(p<0.001). ④ TV sports relay broadcasting made the students' interest on TV to be higher.(p<0.001). ⑤ Students were fond of especially soccer, basketball and swimming. They liked another kinds of sports, too. ⑥ The kinds of sports that frequently watched on TV that wanted to watch or to learn are similar to being preferred kinds of sports, but they wanted to learn basketball the most. ⑦ The kinds of sports being good at rules or techniques were similar to being preferred sports. ⑧ Sport participation rate of boys wass higher than that of girls in cognitive, affective and behavioral involvement. The comparison of sport involvement between districts showed the big cities were higher than the other cities(p<0.001).

        To develop a new functional fruit wine, quality characteristics and physiological functionality of wild grape wine(WGW) were investigated and compared with that of foreign grape wine(FGW). Ethanol contents of WGW was 11.0%, similar to that of FGW(10.6%), but total acidity(0.67%) and total anthocyanin content(A_(520): 0.32) of WGW were higher than those of FGW(0.4%, 0.22). Antioxydant activity and SOD-like activity of WGW which is related in anti-aging functionality were 93.6% and 53.0%, respectively, higher than those of FGW(85.9%, 42.5%). From this results, we concluded domestic wild grape wine is very excellent functional fruit wine.

      • Zeolite X 촉매를 이용한 WO₃의 CO 환원-탄화반응

        This study was performed to manufacture tungsten carbide from CO reduction- carburization of WO₃using zeolite-NaX catalyst. Zeolite-NaX catalyst could improve the reduction property of WO₃. Moreover, zeoite-HX and KX catalysts also improved the reduction property of WO₃. This improvement of reduction property leaded to the decrease of reaction temperature. The size of WC particle was 50∼60 nm at 650 ℃ for 10h. From these results, it is concluded that the various zeolite X catalysts could be used for the reduction-carburization of W0₃ as the catalysts.
