저자등은 인슐린의존형 당뇨병환자에서 임신중에 병발한 당뇨병성 케톤산증을 1예를 경험하였기에 문헌고찰과 함께 보고하는 바이다. IDDM is an autoimmune disease resulted from beta cell destruction and insulin deficiency, and developed mostly in children and puberty. Ketoaddosis remains one of the most senous complications that can occur in the pregnant diabetic. A 26-year-old woman, gravida 1, para 0, was admitted at 32 weeks gestation because of fever lasted for 6 days. She had been treated with insulin pump during the pregnancy. Blood sugar was well controlled before admission, and the etiology of her ketoacidosis was urinary tract infection and no insulin-intake. DKA was treated with fluids and intravenous insulin. Urinary tract infection was treated with antibiotics, based on culture test. Healthy newbom was later delivered by cesarean section due to fetal distress. We experienced a case of DKA in pregnant woman and report it with a review on literature.

Objective : The aim of this study was to review systemically clinical trials on the effectiveness and safety of herbal medicines in the treatment of osteoarthritis. Methods : Computerized literature searches were carried out on seven electronic databases, and hand-searching on some chinese medical journals in library of Kyung Hee Medical Center. Trial data were extracted in a standardized, predefined manner and assessed independently. Results : 1. Thirty reports of clinical trials and two reports of meta-analyses concerning herbal medicine were collected and reviewed Among these reports three medical herbs were applied as topical medicine and others as internal medicine. 2. The western studies established NSAIDs or placebo as their control group. Five chinese reports established formulated herb pill(Ruanshnagshenjin pill) as their control group and Six did not establish a control group at all. 3. ACR was the most highly used diagnostic criteria in the western studies while the Chinese used their official criteria established by their government or the criteria of their text books. 4. 20 reports chose the Lequesne functional index, SHAQ, WOMAC OA index, AIMS, and their own unique scoring system as the criteria of analysing the effect. Others chose clinical symptoms, articular functions, and lab finding as their criteria. 5. 7 single herbs and 19 formulated herbs were studied. Among the formulated herbs, Achyranthes japonica was studied in 10 of the studies and Angelica gigantis Radix in 8, making them the most often studied herbs among the studies.
Mo¨nckeberg 중막 석회화로 인해 초기자궁내막암이 진행성 자궁내막암으로 판독되었던 1례

Mo¨nckeberg 중막 석회화는 크거나 중간크기의 근육성 동맥(large and medium-sized muscular arteries)의 중막(media)에 노화와 관련되어 퇴행성 과정인 윤상석회화가 특징적으로 나타나는 동맥경화증의 일종으로, 근본적으로 폐쇄성 죽상경화증(occlusive atherosclerosis)과는 다른 과정으로 동맥의 관강(lumen)을 막는 경우는 드물어 상대적으로 임상적 의의는 적거나 거의 없다. 저자들은 Mo¨nckeberg 중막 석회화때문에 초음파 및 컴퓨터 단층촬영에 의한 병기결정에 혼란을 초래하였던 초기 자궁내막암 1례를 경험하였기에 문헌고찰과 함께 보고하는 바이다. The Mo¨nckeberg medial calcification is aging change rather than disease entity. The Mo¨nckeberg medial calcification involve muscular arteries of limb, head, and genital track and cause fibrosis change associated with hyalinization and fine basophilic staining, suggesting early calcification with little or no clinical significance but is demonstrable on roentgenograms as regular and diffuse radiopaque shadow under intima. We experienced one case of mis-staging of early endometrial cancer due to the Mo¨nckeberg medial calcification therefore, we report this case with a brief review of the literature of the Mo¨nckeberg medial calcification.

Multilobular osteochondrosarcoma (MLO) reportedly has a good prognosis after complete resection. This study reports the successful treatment of MLO in two dogs using 3-dimensional (3D) printing technology. A nine-year- old castrated male Maltese (Case 1) and a five-year-old castrated male poodle (Case 2) both presented with a mass in the skull. Diagnostic imaging revealed a cranial mass arising from the cranio-orbital and parieto-occipital bones. The masses were resected using 3D-printed osteotomy guides, and the resulting de- fects were reconstructed using 3D-printed patient-specific implants. Histopatho- logical results confirmed the resection of MLOs with clean margins. Patients routinely recover from surgery without complications. To date, the two patients remain alive without clinical signs of tumor recurrence at 20 and 12 months postoperatively, respectively. In the management of MLO in dogs, 3D printing technology can allow accurate tumor resection, reduced surgical time, and suc- cessful reconstruction of large defects.
AA′-Stacked Trilayer Hexagonal Boron Nitride Membrane for Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cells

<P>Hexagonal boron nitride (h-BN) and graphene have emerged as promising materials for proton exchange membranes because of their high proton conductivity and chemical stability. However, the defects and grain boundaries generated during the growth and transfer of two-dimensional materials limit their practical applicability. Here, we report the fabrication of membrane electrode assemblies using large-area single-oriented AA′-stacked trilayer h-BN (3L-BN), which exhibits very few defects during the growth and transfer, as a proton exchange membrane for use in fuel cell systems. The fuel cell based on AA′-stacked 3L-BN showed a H<SUB>2</SUB> permeation current density as low as 2.69 mA cm<SUP>-2</SUP> and an open circuit voltage (OCV) as high as 0.958 V; this performance is much superior to those for cells based on Nafion (3.7 mA cm<SUP>-2</SUP> and 0.942 V, respectively) and single-layer h-BN (10.08 mA cm<SUP>-2</SUP> and 0.894 V, respectively). Furthermore, the fuel cell with the AA′-stacked 3L-BN membrane almost maintained its original performance (OCV, maximum power density, and H<SUB>2</SUB> permeation current density) even after 100 h of an accelerated stress test at 30% RH and 90 °C, while the fuel cells with the Nafion and single-layer BN membranes exhibited severely deteriorated performances. The stability of the cell based on the AA′-stacked 3L-BN membrane was better because the membrane prevented gas crossover and suppressed the generation of reactive radicals during cell operation.</P> [FIG OMISSION]</BR>

Biological and molecular characterization of a Korean isolate of Orthotospovirus chrysanthinecrocaulis (formerly known as chrysanthemum stem necrosis virus, CSNV) isolated from Chrysanthemum morifolium was determined using host range and sequence analysis in this study. Twenty-three species of indicator plants inoculated mechanically CSNV-Kr was investigated for determination of host range. CSNV-Kr induced various local and systemic symptoms in the inoculated plant species. CSNV-Kr could not infect three plant species and induced symptomless in systemic leaves in Nicotiana tabacum cultivars, though the plant samples reacted positively with the antiserum to CSNV by double-antibody sandwich–enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. The complete genome sequence of CSNV-Kr was determined. The L RNA of CSNV-Kr consists of 8,959 nucleotides (nt) and encodes a putative RNA-dependent RNA polymerase. The M RNA of CSNV-Kr consists of 4,835 nt and encodes the movement protein (NSm) and the glycoprotein precursor (Gn/Gc protein). The S RNA of CNSV-Kr consists of 2,836 nt and encodes NSs protein and N protein. The Gn/Gc and N sequence of CSNV-Kr were compared with those of previously published CSNV isolates originating from different countries at nucleotide and amino acid levels. The Gn/GC sequence of CSNV-Kr shared 98.8−99.5% identity with CSNV isolated from other countries and the N sequence of CSNV-Kr shared 98.8−99.6% identity. No particular region of variability could be found in either grouping of viruses. All of the CSNV isolates did not show any relationship according to geographical origins and isolation hosts, suggesting no distinct segregation of the CSNV isolates.

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the usefulness of the total variation (TV) noise reduction algorithm for improving image characteristics with 3D printing technique for the accuracy enhancement of femur fracture diagnosis with computed tomography (CT) images. For this purpose, 3D printing technique was applied to output customized phantom, which can copy a human femur, with iron-polylactic acid flaments that has similar density of human bones. Then, CT images of 3D printed customized femur phantom were obtained by applying the conditions for tube current of 100 mA, 200 mA, and 400 mA, respectively. In addition, a TV noise reduction algorithm applied with regularization parameters of 0.005 and 0.05, respectively, was modeled and applied to 100 mA CT images. To quantitative evaluate the degree of improvement for TV noise reduction algorithm, coefcient of variation (CV) and contrast to noise ratio (CNR), which are noise level evaluation parameters, and blind/referenceless image spatial quality evaluator (BRISQUE) and natural image quality evaluator (NIQE), which are no-reference image quality assessment, were calculated. As a result, when the TV noise reduction algorithms with regularization parameters of 0.005 and 0.05 were applied to the 100 mA image, the noise level evaluation parameters showed similar or improved to the 200 mA and 400 mA images, respectively. On the other hand, the BRISQUE was most improved when the TV noise reduction algorithm with regularization parameters of 0.005 was applied, however, the 0.05 showed poorer results than the images without algorithm. In addition, the NIQE showed that when the TV noise reduction algorithm was applied, the results were improved compared to the CT images without the algorithm, and the regularization parameter of 0.005 was improved than 0.05. In conclusion, we demonstrated through experiment with 3D printing technique that TV noise reduction algorithm with an appropriate regularization parameter can solve the problem of noise and artifacts in the femur CT images.
