        Ozone causes epithelial injury in the upper and lower respiratory tract of laboratory animals. Although there has been good characterization of the ozone induced lesions in the nasal mucosa, it's not clear that morphologic changes depend on the concentration of ozone and time of exposure. And also it's not clear that there is a change between time of sacrifice after last exposure, too. This study was designed to compare the morphological changes in the nasal mucosa in rats exposed to 0.6 and 1.2ppm with different time of exposure and sacrifice after last exposure. We observed infiltration of neutrophils, increased goblet cells, epithelial hyperplasia and ciliary loss in the groups that exposed for 3 and 7days. The degree of changes increased in the groups exposed for 7days than 3days. But there was no difference between the groups sacrificed in immediately and 18hours after last exposure except infiltration of neutrophils. These findings were similar to the groups exposed to 0.6 and 1.2ppm.

        The zero voltage switching(ZVS) full-bridge(FB) PWM dc-dc converter is characterized by high efficiency, low switching stress and simple topology. But because of primary current in the circulating period, conducting loss of the lagging leg device occur. In this paper, a novel zero voltage and zero current switching(ZVZCS) FB Phase-Shift(PS) PWM dc-dc converter was proposed. The converter has secondary auxiliary circuit using R, L, D. The proposed secondary auxiliary circuit is simple and lossless but removes the primary current for circulating period effectively. The 50 kHz, 300 W prototype converter was experimented for verification of the converter characteristics. The proposed converter has good Characteristics of ZVZCS and high efficiency of 91%.

      • 위발성 위장관 악성림프종 환자에서 항암치료의 효과

        Purpose: The gastrointestinal (GI) tract is the most common site of extranodal non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (NHL), which is increasing in incidence, but there is no established optimal treatment modality. Thus, this study was investigated the clinicohistologic feature, the therapeutic modalities, and the prognosis for GI-NHL, as well as the factors affecting it. Methods: We retrospectively analyzed 45 patients who had been diagnosed as having GI-NHL and had been followed up from July 1994 to February 2005 at Soonchunhyang University Hospital. The patients were divided into groups according to the site of origin and to various other features, and the survivals of the various groups were compared. The modified Ann Arbor system and WHO classification were adopted for staging and histopathologic classification, respectively. Results: GI-NHL of the stomach, small bowel, ileocecal region, and colon occurred in 28 patients (62.2%), 5 patients (11.1%), 3 patients (6.7%), and 8 patients (17.8%), respectively, In one patient, the entire gastrointestinal tract was diffusely involved. The median age of patients was b5 years (25~78 years), and male-to-female ratio was 1:1.1. Fourteen patients were in stage Ⅰ, 24 in stage Ⅱ, 4 in stage Ⅲ, and 3 in stage Ⅳ. Surgical resection was performed in 19 patients, and combination chemotherapy was performed in 43 patients. Surgical resection only was performed in 4 patients, Chemotherapy only was performed in 26 patients. The expected overall 5 year survival of 45 patients was 39.6%, and there was a significant survival difference between the stages, but between sites of origin (p=0.842). The most important factors influencing the survival was the stage and other factors were not significant. Conclusion: The stomach was the most common site of GI-NHL. Most GI-NHL were localized Stage was the most important prognostic factor. However, Prospective randomized studies are needed to approve the therapeutic modality.

        경추간반수핵탈출증에 대한 화학적 용해술의 임상적 연구

        For or many years chemonucleolysis has been proven effective in the curative treatment of lumbar disc herniation. However, this technique is seldom popular in the herniated cervical disc. For several years microsurgery of the cervical disc has been effective in the treatment of refractory cervicobrachial neuralgia. To compete with this method which has been familiar to neurosurgeons. cervical nucleolysis must convincingly demonstrate that its therapeutic value is at least as good as that of surgery. The authors analysed the results of 30 herniated cervical disc pateints who were treated with cervical nucleolysis using chymopapain fcr 1 year. Twenty two pateints(75%) had excellent outcomes. 5 pateints(15%) considered good while 3 sustained their symptom. but showed decreased intensity. The decision to intervene is made when the radiculagia is recurrent or resistant to medical treatment of several weeks duration without myelopathy or bony abnormalities such as spondylosis of canal stenosis. The principal advantages of this method are : short stay in the hospital(3 days to 5 days on average). absence of general anesthesia prompt resumption of previous activities, and long term preservation of an intervertebral space. As a resuit. cervical nucleolysis has been shown to be an effective alternative to surgery for cervical soft disc herniations with refractory radicualgia.

        암사슴의 뿔 발생 인공 유도가 번식에 미치는 영향

        This study was conducted to investigate the antler induction rate and production by artificial induction of antlerogenesis using CaCl_(2) injection on both periosteum around area of horn development for the frontal bone of a female elk deer which do not have an antler. The results obtained from eleven deers for verifying effect of the female's antler induction on reproduction are as follows: The antler development induction by CaC1_(2) injection is higher on the treatments of 30 and 50 % of CaCl_(2) injection than those on the treatments of 15 %. The antler production is higher on the 30 % CaCl_(2) injection than those of 15 and 50 % CaCl_(2) injection. For 30 % CaCl_(2) injection, the antler production is higher in 1.5 and 2.0 ml of % CaCl_(2) injection than the other injection level. After the induction of antler development, the birth rate is not changed as of 75-100 %, while the regeneration rate of the antler which was not constant in approximately 45 % for five among eleven female deer. With these results, we assume that the injection concentration and amount of CaCl_(2) injection are around 30 % and 1.5 and 2.0 ml level which can be not only most effective conditions for the antler induction rate and production, but also these conditions do not influence the reproduction during the period of the female elk's antler development induction.

        In Euprepocnemis shirakii Bolivar, the pericardial cells are arranged sparsely on each lateral side of the dorsal vessel. The basal lamina of the cell is about 70nm in diameter and functionally adapted for selective filtering of foreign materials from the hemolymph. Cytoplasm of the pericardial cell is structurally divided into two portions. The one is cortex area which consists with labyrinthine channel invaginated into cytoplasm, coated vesicles and α-vacuoles. The other is endoplasm which composed of nucleus, β-vacuoles and γ-vacuoles. The entrance of the labyrinthine canal fromed by invagination of the plasma membrane is junctioned by several membraneous diaphragm folding. So, we guess the membraneous diaphragm be involved in selective absorption of foreign material. Many coated vesicles are formed by pinocytosis of the labyrinthine canal, And these vesicles are then assembled to be α-vacuoles, β-vacuoles, which is present in the outskirts of the endoplasm, have two-folded outer membrane and been stuffed with electron-dense materials. γ-vacuoles consist with one membrane and have mid-electron dense materials in the membrane.

        Vibration analysis of through-the-width-split beams for predicting buckling load is investigated based on Euler-Bernoulli beam theory. In split region, each segment is considered as a solid beam. In this region, recurrence equations relating integration constants for adjacent interior regions are established by satisfying continuity conditions at junctions of interior regions. The results of present study are compared with those of experiment and their results give good agreement with each other. From the result, it was shown that local buckling phenomena could appear in fundamental mode, however, there exists load carrying capacity after this phenomena.

        This work has been carried out to study the mixing characteristics of solid in vibrating feeder by dispersion model.The experimental variables were particle size, particle densities, vibration amplitude and vibration frequency etc.The system consisted of two particles such that fine particles were located on the top of the coarse particles before vibratory mixing had started.It was found from this study that dispersion model can effectively explain the mixing characteristics of solid in vibrating feeder.

        The numerical models based on the shallow water wave equation and the diffusion equation were applied to the coastal mne of Murung-ri, Cheju Island to find out tidal current and thermal diffusion pheno-mena Computed maximun tidal current velocity during ebb and flood tide was almost 100 cm/sec and main directions of tidal current were South-East in flood and North-West in ebb tide, that was similar to the observation one. The thermal diffusion length of horizontal and verical directions from coastal zone were 3 km and 1 km. repectively during 1 tidal cycle based on numerical diffusion model. The diffusion pattern during tidal cycle was strongly related to tidal current velocity patterns.

        According to the literary study on catheterization of bladder in one case of patient with C.V.A. who was treated by supra pubic catheterization, the results were as follows. 1. If not immediately treat ischuria, emergency disease, very great danger to life can happen by loss of kidney function. So we must treat ischuria instantly by consideration of treatment from the factor. 2. Catheterization of bladder generally acted in emergency room, is emergency treatment only in the lower part of urethral obstruction. 3. Catheterization of bladder was put on record in Son Saimiao's Qianjinyaofang, which is the first book on it. It had been developed by Luo Qianyi, Zhang Jiepin, and Wang Dao. 4. Ancient times, an urethral catheter was made of green onion leaf, pig bladder, goose feather and so on. 5. Nelaton is catheterization of bladder in functional or momentary ischuria. Indwelling catheterization is treatment keeping in urethral canal for a long time. 6. Supra pubic catheterization is a surgical operating catheterization when urethral catheterization is impossible, is very easy and can decrease risk of infection. 7. After catheterization, for decreasing risk of the infection, a complication of catheterization, it is must be taken precedence, ascetic treatment, constantly management and sterilization, anti-biotic medication. 8. At times, increasing patient of emergency disease, as C.V.A etc., the needing of catheterization of bladder is increasing also for preventing infection and bed sore by ischuria and incontinence of urine. Therefore a specialty knowledge and skill about it is necessary.
