Genuine traditional Korean medicine, BaekJeol-Tang for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis

Inflammation in rheumatoid arthritis is characterized by immune cell infiltration and cytokine secretion. In particular, mast cells and their cytokines play an important role in the pathogenesis of rheumatoid arthritis. Korean medicine, BaekJeol-Tang (BT) was designed by traditional Korean medicine theory. We already reported therapeutic effect of BT in rheumatoid arthritis. Here, we report the specific underlying mechanism of BT in activated human mast cells, HMC-1 cells. In addition, we report for the first time that BT significantly inhibited the production and mRNA expression of proinflammatory cytokines including thymic stromal lymphopoietin, interleukin (IL)-1β, IL-6, IL-8, and tumor necrosis factor-α in activated HMC-1 cells. BT also decreased the activation of mitogen-activated protein kinases, nuclear factor-κB, and caspapase-1. Taken together, these results indicate that BT has potential as a regulator of inflammatory reactions for the treatment of arthritis such as osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis.
Anthracene을 이용한 allyl alcohol의 합성

To synthesize biochemically important GPP(Geranyl pyrophosphate) (15), allyl alcohol (24) (33) as starting material of our strategy was prepared by anthracene. Methyl propiolate(27) was syntliesized by esterification of propionic acid and methyl alcohol. [4+2] Diels-Alder reaction of methyl propiolate (27) and anthracene gave methyl 9, 10-ethenoanthracene-ll-carboxylate(28). Methyl 9, 10-ethenoanthracene-ll-carboxylate(28) was reduced with H2/Pd-CaCO3 to give methyl 9. 10-ethanoanthracene-11-carboxlate(29). 9, 10-Ethanoanthracene-11-methanol(30) was synthesized by the treatment of LiAlH4 to methyl 9, 10-ethanoanthracene-11-carboxlate(29). 2-Propenol(24) was synthesized by pyrrolysis of 9, 10-Ethanoanthracene-ll-methanol(30) with Wood's metal bath at 330℃. And also, 9, 10-ethanoanthracene-11-carboxylate-cis-11, 12-d2(31), 9,10-Ethanoanthracene-11-methanol-cis-11, 12-d2(32) and propen-3-ol-cis-l, 2-d2(33) containing deuterium were synthesized in same methods. Chemical analysis of all products was executed by UV, TLC, mp, IR, NMR, and MASS.
Effects of V/III flux ratio on Curie temperature of GaMnAs

We investigated the eects of V/III ux ratios on the Curie temperature, TC, in Ga1xMnxAs layers with Mn mole fractions of x = 0.03 and 0.05. Changes in the TC are observed by varying V/III ratio with a xed Mn mole fraction. The TC in the sample grown with a lower V/III ratio (25) is found to be higher than that in the sample grown with a higher V/III ux ratio (34) at a xed high Mn concentration (x = 0.05). Although the Mn concentration is increased, the TC is not much changed when the V/III ratio is high (34). These results can be explained by the existence of low-temperature growth defects, which are considered to have the main eects on the electrical and the magnetic properties of the GaMnAs layers. We elucidated the relevant defects by employing thermal annealing processes and by obtaining photoluminescence spectra.
대구보건대학 보건계열학과의 국제 표준화 교육과정개발에 관한 연구 : 기초 실태 조사를 중심으로

The purpose of this study is to give guidance for training human resources through developing internationally standardized curriculum by investigating students’ educational needs for overseas employment and study and investigating domestic and international curriculums and licensure systems and compatibilities of credits and license. The subjects of this study were third-year students in health related departments (dental technology, dental hygiene, clinical pathology, and radiological technology) and questionnaire survey was conducted. Degree of recognition, interest, need, willingness to participate, desire to work overseas were measured respectively amongst educational needs for overseas employment by a 3-point scale questionnaire. Collected data were analyzed using SPSS Win 12.0 statistics program and following is the main analysis technique. Subjects’ general characteristics, degree of their knowledge about the information, and educational needs were obtained in terms of frequency and percentage. χ2-test was used to verify the difference in general characteristics and the awareness of the information about recognition, interest, need, willingness to participate, desire to work overseas among educational needs. In conclusion of this study, following recommendations need to be addressed. There are many differences as well as similarities in the curriculum and licensure system of health related department in each country. Therefore, developing internationally standardized curriculum and constructing an overseas curriculum motive is needed. It is not the task confined to one college to develop internationally standardized and specialized curriculum. To construct internationally standardized curriculum, creating an integrated education program between domestic colleges needs to be preceded, and standardized and specialized curriculum needs to be shared and improved with the help of integrated education program. By operating internationally standardized curriculum and providing high quality education to students, domestic and international competitiveness will be obtained. The college needs to concentrate on providing well trained health-related professions who can work on domestic and overseas health field right away by constructing simulating laboratory (application of state-of-the-art facilities synchronized with IT-based medical information system, opening of foreign language class) and enhancing practical and foreign language education. To be a leading college of health sciences in the world of globalization, colleges should be able to showcase the successful model by revitalizing current credit bank system and revamping the curriculum to meet the international standard and to emphasize foreign language education. Continuously upgrading and improving the curriculum of health related department at college of health sciences, which tilted for preparing for the national board, to allow students to thoroughly study their major subjects which are regarded as indispensable to workplace. Further studies and efforts are demanded to provide more advanced and practical education.
콩 종자의 Raffinose 및 Stachyose 함량에 대한 유전자형과 환경의 영향

Soybean (Glycine max (L.) Merr.) is an important crop for protein, oil, carbohydrates, isoflavones, and many other nutrients to humans and animals. But, antinutritional factors in the raw mature soybean are exist. Raffinose and stachyose are main antinutritional factors in soybean seed. Both raffinose and stachyose are carbohydrates, belonging to the raffinose family of oligosaccharides (RFOs). RFOs are not readily digested in humans and cause flatulence or diarrhea. The objective of this research is to obtain the information on raffinose and stachyose content according to genotype and environment. A total of twenty two soybean genotypes (11 cultivars, 3 germplasms and 8 breeding lines) were selected. Each genotype was grown in the field for two years with two replications and harvested in bulk at natural maturity for two years. Content of raffinose and stachyose was detected by HPLC. The raffinose content (g/kg) of 22 genotypes was 2.68±0.21 - 5.87±2.43 in year 1 and was 3.24±0.37 - 9.05±0.16 in year 2. The stachyose content (g/kg) was 4.23±0.98 - 27.68±9.90 at year 1 and was 5.11±1.09 - 25.32±0.35 in year 2. Genotype and environment have highly significant effects on raffinose and stachyose content. Three genotypes (Da-7, 116-13, and RS-78) have low stachyose content at 5% significant level in two years. A positive correlation (R2=0.1985*) between raffinose and stachyose was observed in year 2. These informations are valuable in soybean genetics and breeding program related with raffinose and stachyose content.
청소년 또래지위 집단 간의 심리적 특성, 지각된 부모양육태도 및 학업수행의 비교

본 연구는 다섯 개의 청소년 또래지위 집단 간에 심리적 특성, 지각된 부모양육태도 및 학업 수행에서 차이가 있는지를 비교하였다. 이를 위해 중학생 638명과 고등학생 748명을 사회측 정적 방법에 따라 인기아, 거부아, 무시아, 논란아, 보통아의 다섯 개 또래지위 집단으로 분류 하였다. 그런 다음 또래지위 집단 간에 사회성, 공격성, 위축성 등의 심리적 특성, 지각된 부 모의 양육태도 및 인지적 특성을 대표하는 학업수행을 비교하였다. 특히 심리적 특성에 대해 서는 청소년 자기보고와 모 보고로 측정하여 정보를 이원화함으로써 정보원에 따른 집단 간 차이가 있는지 살펴보았다. 연구 결과, 거부아들이 다른 집단보다 사회적 공감능력이 낮고, 자기가 보고한 심리적 문제, 즉 편집성, 적대감, 외로움, 불안 등이 높았으며, 모가 관찰한 사 회성 문제, 공격성, 비행문제, 우울/불안, 위축, 외현화 및 내재화 문제를 더 많이 보이는 것 으로 나타났으며, 성적도 가장 저조하였다. 반면, 인기아들은 다른 집단보다 외로움을 덜 느 꼈고, 성적이 더 우수하였다. 또한, 무시아 와 논란아들은 현저한 특징을 보이지 않았다. 이로 볼 때 거부아들이 심리사회적 발달과 적응의 위험성을 가지고 있음을 알 수 있었다.
