PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of exercise on physical fitness and strength according to their frailty level of the hypertensive female elderly aged over 65. METHODS: Female elderly subjects (>65 year) with hypertension (n=90) were classified according to their level of frailty (Fr_), and were divided into control group (Ctrl) and exercise group (Ex). Hypertensive female elderly in exercise groups were subjected to 8-week combined exercise of aerobic (stretching and walking) and resistance (elastic band and weight training) exercise twice per week (50 minutes×2 times×8 weeks). Body composition, functional fitness and skeletal muscle strength were evaluated as main variables (Ctrl, n=27; Ex, n=23; Fr_Ctrl, n=17; Fr_Ex, n=23). RESULTS: Body composition, blood pressure, fasting glucose level (include hemoglobin A1c) and blood lipid profile did not interact with the exercise intervention and frailty level. Records of 30-second chair stretch test, two-minute walk test and arm curl increased after exercise intervention regardless of frailty level. The strength of quadriceps femoris increased after exercise intervention regardless of the level of frailty. However, the strength of biceps femoris (p<.001), biceps brachii (p<.05) and triceps brachii (p<.001) was significantly increased in the Fr_Ex compared to pre-intervention of exercise. CONCLUSIONS: The classification according to the level of frailty in hypertensive female elderly can have a significant effect on the degree of muscle strength improvement by exercise intervention. In addition, this study newly discovered that the improvement of 30-s chair stretch test record in the hypertensive elderly women appeared faster than the improvement of the rapid-gait test record independently of the level of frailty.
관절함몰형 종골 골절에 대한 다공성 하이드록시 아파타이트를 이용한 수술적 치료

Purpose: This study was performed to evaluate the clinical outcomes of operative treatment using porous hydroxyapatite for intraarticular calcaneal fracture of joint depression type. Materials and Methods: Twenty patients with intraarticular calcaneal fracture were followed up for more than 1 year. The period to union was calculated to evaluate the osteoconductivity of porous hydroxyapatite used as bone graft substitute. The measurement of Bohler angle, Gissane angle and the degree of articular surface depression was performed through preoperative and postoperative radiographs. The clinical evaluation was performed according to hindfoot score of the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society (AOFAS) and scale of the Creighton-Nebraska health foundation (CNHF). Results: Bohler angle and Gissane angle had improved significantly from preoperative average $10.4^{\circ}$, $117.8^{\circ}$ to average $22.6^{\circ}$, $113.5^{\circ}$ immediate postoperatively, and had maintained to average $21.2^{\circ}$ and $114.4^{\circ}$ at the last follow-up. The degree of articular surface depression had improved significantly from preoperative average 4.8 mm to 1.5 mm at the last follow-up. All cases achieved bone union, and the interval to union was average 12.8 weeks. AOFAS score was average 85.2 points at last follow-up. There were 7 excellent, 10 good, and 3 fair results according to the CNHF scale. Therefore, 17 cases (85%) achieved satisfactory results. Conclusion: Plate fixation using porous hydroxyapatite seems to be one of effective treatment methods for intraarticular calcaneal fracture of joint depression type, because of supporting the reduction of subtalar articulation by augmenting bony defect and facilitating bone formation. Further evaluation about long-term radiological changes and histological analysis on hydroxyapatite implantation site should be required.

역형 견관절 전치환술은 회전근 개 파열 관절병증의 수술적 치료 방법 중의 하나로 최근 그 시술의 빈도가 증가하고 있으나 여러가지 합병증도 보고되고 있다. 저자들은 역 견관절 전치환술 후 발생할 수 있는 아주 드문 합병증인 견봉 골절 l예를 경험하였기에 문헌 고찰과 함께 보고하는 바이다. Reverse total shoulder arthroplasty is one of the methods of surgical treatment for cuff tear arthropathy Reverse total shoulder arthroplasty is increasingly being performed, but various complications have been reported. We experienced a case of acromion fracture after reverse total shoulder arthroplasty, which is quite a rare complication. So we report on this case along with reviewing the relevant literature.
참박과 호박 종자의 발아촉진을 위한 저선량 감마선의 효과

To establish the seed treatment method of the gamma radiation for germination enhancement of bottle gourd(Lagenaria siceraria Standl) and pumpkin(Cucurbita ficifolia Bouche), seeds were irradiated with the dose 1~20 Gy of the gamma radiation. The germination rate in irradiated group was higher than that of the control, depending on seed condition. In the case of bottle gourd, the germination rate of 70~80% germinative seed was increased at 4-20 Gy irradiated groups. Especially, it was the highest at 4 Gy irradiated group. The germination rate of 80~90% germinative seed was the highest at 4 Gy irradiated group. The germination rate of 70~80% and 80~90% germinative seed at 4 days after sowing was increased 66% and 26% at 4 Gy irradiated group, respectively. In the case of pumpkin, the germination rate of 70~80% and 80~90% germinative seed was increased at 2 Gy and 8 Gy irradiated group, respectively. Effect of the low-dose gamma radiation on the early growth was enhanced depending on their germination enhancement. Especially, it was the highest at 2 Gy irradiated group of 70~80% gen inative seed of pumpkin. Catalase activity of bottle gourd was increased at 4 Gy irradiated group. Catalase and peroxidase activity of pumpkin were increased at 2 Gy and 8 Gy irradiated group. These results suggest that the germination, early growth and physiological activity of bottle gourd and pumpkin seeds could be promoted by the low dose gamma radiation.

This paper presents a real-time scheduler for nuclear safety system. According to constraints and requirements of nuclear safety system, scheduler design analysis is done and algorithms are developed for implementation. Using DSP based hardware, a real-time scheduler is realized. Consequently, this paper shows the performance of periodical software through the monitoring program.
