Background: The ginsenoside Rg3, one of active components of red ginseng, has chemopreventive andanticancer potential. Cancer stem cells retain self-renewal properties which account for cancer recurrenceand resistance to anticancer therapy. In our present study, we investigated whether the standardizedKorean Red Ginseng extract (RGE) and Rg3 could modulate the manifestation of breast cancerstem cellelike features through regulation of self-renewal activity. Methods: The effects of RGE and Rg3 on the proportion of CD44high/CD24low cells, as representativecharacteristics of stem-like breast cancer cells, were determined by flow cytometry. The mammosphereformation assay was performed to assess self-renewal capacities of breast cancer cells. Aldehyde dehydrogenaseactivity of MCF-7 mammospheres was measured by the ALDEFLUOR assay. The expressionlevels of Sox-2, Bmi-1, and P-Akt and the nuclear localization of hypoxia inducible factor-1a in MCF-7mammospheres were verified by immunoblot analysis. Results: Both RGE and Rg3 decreased the viability of breast cancer cells and significantly reduced thepopulations of CD44high/CD24low in MDA-MB-231 cells. RGE and Rg3 treatment attenuated the expressionof Sox-2 and Bmi-1 by inhibiting the nuclear localization of hypoxia inducible factor-1a in MCF-7mammospheres. Suppression of the manifestation of breast cancer stem cellelike properties by Rg3was mediated through the blockade of Akt-mediated self-renewal signaling. Conclusion: This study suggests that Rg3 has a therapeutic potential targeting breast cancer stem cells.

Glyceollins, a family of soyderivedphytoalexins, have been reported to exert a varietyof biological effects in vitro and in vivo systems in spite ofpoor systemic bioavailability after oral administration,suggesting that secondary messengers generated in gastrointestinaltract would transfer signals to target organsand tissues to manifest any effect. This review focuses onthe potential mechanisms of how the poorly bioavailableglyceollins could still exert in vivo biological effects.
Clinical Features and Outcomes of Microscopic Polyangiitis in Korea

Microscopic polyangiitis (MPA) is a systemic vasculitis affecting small vessels. To determine the clinical features and outcomes of MPA in Korean patients, we retrospectively reviewed the medical records of patients diagnosed with MPA at a single medical center in Korea between 1989 and 2006. The 18 patients who met the Chapel Hill criteria for MPA had a mean (±SD) age at the time of diagnosis of 62.4± 12.7 yr. Renal manifestations and general symptoms were the most common features of MPA, with lung involvement also very common. Antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibodies (ANCA) were present in 17 of the 18 patients (94%). Of 17 patients treated with steroids and cyclophosphamide, 11 (65%) had stable or improved course. One patient treated with steroids without cyclophosphamide showed disease progression. Ten of the 18 patients (56%) died at a median follow-up of 8 months. MPA in Korean patients was distinguished by a higher rate of lung involvement, especially alveolar hemorrhage, which was the leading cause of death in our patients. Korean patients were also older at MPA onset and were more likely positive for ANCA. Other overall clinical manifestations did not differ significantly.
코로나19(COVID-19)시기에 SNS 감사일기프로그램이 의료기관 종사자의 감사성향, 직무만족과 삶의 만족에 미치는 효과

Purpose: This study was done to examine the effects of the SNS Gratitude Diary Program during the COVID-19 period on grateful disposition, job satisfaction and life satisfaction of medical institution workers. Methods: The study was a nonequivalent control group pre-post test design. The participants were 58 medical institution workers of which 28 were assigned to the experimental group and 30 to the control group. Data were collected from June 3 to August 10, 2020 and analyzed using SPSS Win 18.0 version program. The intervention was conducted 5 times a week for 8 weeks. Results: There were significant differences in reported grateful disposition between the two groups. However, the issue of job satisfaction and life satisfaction were not significant. Conclusion: The SNS Gratitude Diary Program using SNS during the COVID-19 period can be utilized as an effective intervention for grateful disposition. It will be a good solution to lead successful psychological health management. 본 연구는 코로나19 시기에 SNS 감사일기프로그램이 의료기관 종사자의 감사성향, 직무만족과 삶의 만족에 미치는 효과를 확인하기 위하여 시도되었다. 실험군 28명, 대조군 30명 총 58명을 연구 대상으로 한 비동등성 대조군 전후설계 유사실험 연구이다. 데이터는 2020년 6월 3일부터 8월 10일까지 수집하였으며 실험처치는 8주간 5회/주 수행되었고 SPSS Win 18.0을 사용하여 분석하였다. SNS 감사일기프로그램 실시 후 실험군이 대조군보다 감사성향 정도는 증가하였지만 직무만족과 삶의 만족에서는 통계적으로 유의한 차이가 없었다. 이러한 연구결과는 코로나19 시기에 SNS 감사일기프로그램이 의료기관 종사자의 감사성향을 증가시키는 효과적인 중재로 활용될 수 있으며 심리적 건강관리를 위한 좋은 해결방안이 될 수 있음을 시사한다.
제약 조건에서의 예보를 위한 기상 응용의 실행 패턴 분석

For meteorological applications, meaningful results must be derived and provided within time and resource limits. Forecasts through numerous historical data are time-consuming and still have resource limitations in the case of disaster safety-related analyses/predictions such as local typhoon forecasts. Suitable forecasts should be provided without any problems caused by limited physical environmental conditions and when results are to be drawn under time constraints, such as typhoon forecasts and forecast services for flooded areas by road. In this paper, we analyze the application of weather and climate forecasting to provide a suitable forecasting service in both temporal and resource conditions. Through the analysis of execution time according to mesh sizes, it was confirmed that a mesh adjustment can cope with the case of the temporal constraint. In addition, by analyzing the execution time through memory resource control, we confirmed the minimum resource condition that does not affect the performance and the resource usage pattern of the application through the swap and mlock analysis. 기상 응용의 경우 시간적, 자원적 한계 내에서도 의미 있는 결과를 도출해 제공해야 한다. 수많은 과거 데이터를 통한 예보는 시간적인 소요가 크며, 국지성 태풍 예보와 같은 재난 안전 관련 분석/예측의 경우에는 여전히 자원적 한계가 존재한다. 태풍 예보, 도로별 침수/홍수 지역 예측 서비스 등 시간 제약하에 결과를 도출해야 하는 경우와 제한적인 물리적 환경 조건으로 인해 발생하는 문제 없이 적합한 예보를 제공해야 한다. 본 논문에서는 시간적, 자원적 조건에서도 원활한 예보 서비스 제공을 위해 기상 및 기후 예측 응용을 분석한다. 격자 크게 따른 수행 시간 분석을 통해 격자 조절을 통해 시간적 제약 조건이 있는 경우에 대처할 수 있음을 확인하였다. 또한 메모리 자원 조절을 통해 수행 시간을 분석하여 성능에 영향을 미치지 않는 최소 자원 조건을 확인하였으며 swap, mlock 분석을 통해 응용의 자원 사용 패턴을 확인하였다.
