-Background: Visceral obesity is closely associated with cardiovascular disease (CVD). Small dense (sd) LDL is closely associated with CVD. The aim of this study was to evaluate the relationship between visceral and subcutaneous fat accumulation and sd LDL-C concentration.Methods: 264 type 2 diabetic patients underwent ultrasonography to estimate visceral & subcutaneous fat accumulation and sd LDL-C concentrations were measured.Results: BMI, total cholesterol, sd LDL-C concentration and percentage of sd LDL-C were higher in highest tertile of visceral fat length in male than those in lowest tertile. BMI, total cholesterol, triglyceride, LDL-C, sd LDL-C concentration and percentage of sd LDL-C were higher in highest tertile of visceral fat length in female than those in lowest tertile. But sd LDL-C concentration and percentage of sd LDL-C were not different among three groups based on the tertile of subcutaneous fat length in male and female. Visceral fat length was correlated with sd LDL-C concentration and percentage of sd LDL-C, total cholesterol, triglyceride, LDL-C, but negatively with percentage of large buoyant LDL-C and HDL-C after adjustment of age, sex and BMI. Subcutaneous fat length was not correlated with sd LDL-C and percentage of sd LDL-C, total cholesterol, triglyceride, HDL-C and LDL-C. Conclusion: The association between visceral fat length and sd LDL-C could be a factor that explains the association between visceral obesity and CVD. (J Kor Diabetes Assoc 30:207~216, 2006) 연구배경: 내장 비만은 심혈관계 질환과 밀접하게 연관되어 있다. 작고 밀집한 저밀도 지단백은 심혈관계 질환과 밀접하게 연관되어 있다. 본 연구의 목적은 내장지방 및 피하지방과 작고 밀집한 저밀도 지단백 콜레스테롤 농도와의 관계를 평가하고자 하였다.방법: 264명의 제2형 당뇨병환자를 대상으로 초음파로 피하 지방 및 내장 지방을 검사하였고, 작고 밀집한 저밀도 지단백 콜레스테롤 농도를 측정하였다. 결과: 내장지방 길이에 따라 3군으로 나누었을 때, 내장지방 길이가 가장 큰 군에서 내장지방 길이가 가장 작은 군에 비하여 남성에서는 체질량지수, 총콜레스테롤, 작고 밀집한 저밀도 지단백 콜레스테롤 농도 및 비율이 높았고, 여성에서는 체질량지수, 총콜레스테롤, 중성지방, 저밀도 지단백 콜레스테롤, 작고 밀집한 저밀도 지단백 콜레스테롤의 비율이 높았다. 그러나 피하지방 길이에 따라 3군으로 나누었을 때 남성과 여성에서 작고 밀집한 저밀도 지단백 콜레스테롤농도 및 비율은 차이가 없었다. 나이, 성별, 체질량지수를 보정한 후 내장지방 길이는 작고 밀집한 저밀도 지단백 콜레스테롤 농도 및 비율, 총콜레스테롤, 중성지방, 저밀도 지단백 콜레스테롤과 양의 상관 관계가 있었으나 크고 부유성인 저밀도 지단백 콜레스테롤, 고밀도 지단백 콜레스테롤과는 음의 상관관계가 있었다. 나이, 성별, 체질량지수를 보정한 후 피하지방길이는 작고 밀집한 저밀도 지단백 콜레스테롤 농도 및 비율과는 상관관계가 없었다.

Comparison of NaCl and D-Pinitol Content of Freeze-Dried Ice Plant, Natural and Purified Commercial Salts and their Radical Scavenging Activity

This study investigated the suitability of freeze-dried ice plant (Mesembryanthemum crystallinum) as the source of an edible healthy salt alternative by examining the content of NaCl, D-pinitol, total phenols, total flavonoids, and DPPH radical scavenging activity compared with those of natural and purified salts. Our results showed that the NaCl content of freeze-dried ice plant, natural and purified salts was 19, 94 and 99%, respectively. The Dpinitol content of freeze-dried ice plant was 777 mg/100 g, whereas D-pinitol was not detected in either natural or purified salts. The total phenol and flavonoid contents of freeze-dried ice plant were 115 mg GAE/100 g and 985 mg RE/100 g, respectively. The DPPH radical scavenging activity of freeze-dried ice plant was markedly higher than that of natural and purified salts. Altogether, these results show that freeze-dried ice plant contains both NaCl and bioactive compounds and can be used as a source of edible salt with positive health effects.

The history of the intraocular lens implantation surgery in our country is very short. Hence there is no sufficient accumulation of experience and knowledge about it. In the view of its superiority and effectiveness in the optical correction of an aphakic eye weshould make the intraocular lens implantation more popular quite soon now. In order to experience the intraocular lens implantation surgery and evaluate its complications histopathologically the authors implanted the intraocular lens in 20 rabbits. 15 rabbits of them had been observed. The Choyce VIII anterior chamber lens was implanted into 12 eyes of 6 rabbits of which lens was extracted extracapsularly in 3 eyes and intra capsularly in 9 eyes. The Binkhorst two-loop lens was introduced into 12 eyes of 6 rabbits. In 9 eyes of them extracapsular lens extraction was done and in 3 eyes intracapsular lens extraction was performed. The Barraquer posterior chamber lens was implanted in 6 eyes of 3 rabbits in which the lens was extracted extracapsularly. The complications developed during operation were perforation of the posterior capsule in an eye implanted with Binkihorst lens and dislocation of a Barraquer posterior chamber lens into the vitreous. Postoperative persistent corneal edema had been observed in 4 eyes with Choyce anterior chamber lens. It seemed to be caused by poor fixation of the implanted lens. In an eye with Choyce anterior chamber lens posterior synechia and increased intraocular pressure developed. At the first week, the second week and a month after operation, an eye in each group was enucleated. The enucleated eye was fixed in 10% formalin for a week and prepared for light microscopic examintion. Deformation of the anterior chamber angle, pigment deposition and stretching of the trabecular meshwork were observed in the eyes with a Choyce anterior chamber lens. In an eye with Binkhorst two-loop lens some fibrosis of the pupllary ruff was present. The supporting loops of the Barraquer lens were fixed in the residual capsular bag, the ciliary sulcus, or the stroma of the ciliary body. In the observed eyes no inflammatory reaction was observed.

중심성 맥락망막염의 임상적 고찰

An analisis has been made of 74 eyes in the 72 central serovs retinopathy patients treated in Chungnam National University Hospital during last 3 years. The patients in this study were mainly male between 4th and 5th decades, occuping 77. 8% of all cases. Only 10 eyes were treated with photocoagulation and the remainders with medication. Fifty-six eyes could be followed up and 36 eyes(48.6%) of them had their visual acuity over 0.8 after treatment. Current literature on the photocoagulation indicates that these modes of therapy may be useful in the management of central serous retinopathy. But caution should be paid on the indication of photocoagulation, since most previous therapheutic remedies have been met with enthusiastic acclaim and spontaneous remission of approximately 40 % with negligible morbidity has been reported.

Congenital nystagmus is a well-established clinical entity with strong hereditary characteristics in which the causes of the nystagmus is not known: in general the eyes are objectively normal. Electronystamography is mandatory for the examination of a patient with nystagmus to take accurate record and reasonable analysis. Treatment is very difficult and not available in all patients. Three brothers with congenital nystagmus in one family is reported and a brief review of literature is described.

건조방법을 달리한 땅콩호박의 영양성분 분석 및 생리활성 평가

The purpose of this study was to provide the basic data of butternut squash (Cucurbita moschata) according to the drying methods. The proximate composition and chromaticity of freeze-dried and hot air-dried Cucurbita moschata powders were evaluated, and the antioxidant effects of these ethanolic extracts were analyzed by DPPH, ABTS, FRAP, reducing power activity, total phenolic, and flavonoid content. As a result, Cucurbita moschata was revealed to have high carbohydrate and crude protein contents, while crude ash and crude fat contents were relatively low. Also, it was confirmed that the hot air-dried Cucurbita moschata had lower L, a, and b values than the freeze-dried Cucurbita moschata. Additionally, as a result of analyzing the antioxidant activity of Cucurbita moschata ethanolic extracts, hot air-dried Cucurbita moschata ethanolic extract showed significantly superior antioxidant activity than freeze-dried Cucurbita moschata ethanolic extract. Also, hot air-dried Cucurbita moschata ethanolic extract was revealed to have a higher polyphenol content, but slightly lower flavonoid content than freeze-dried Cucurbita moschata ethanolic extract. Based on the data from this study, further experiments on Cucurbita moschata material are necessary.

회식문화의 패러다임 변화와 새로운 실천방안을 위한 모델링 수립: 구조적문제와 개선방향의 질적접근을 중심으로

본 연구는 본 연구는 직장인들의 회식문화에 대한 실천 가능한 이론적 모델링을 수립하고자 회식에 대한 경험의 현상을 생생하게 드러내줄 수 있는 4인의 연구 참여자를 선정하여 질적분석인 심층인터뷰를 실시한 분석결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 회식문화의 패러다임의 변화와 실태에 대해 알아보았으며, 둘째, 회식문화의 구조적 문제점으로 발견할 수 있는 사실은 과도한 음주 및 강요하는 술 회식, 술 위주의 회식문화, 반강제적 회식참석 요구(회식메뉴, 장소선정 및 일정), 늦은 회식과 인간관계의 상실, 회식의 취지 부재 등으로 나타났다. 셋째, 직원들이 바라는 회식문화는 술 위주의 회식이 아닌 스포츠 및 문화회식과 회식메뉴, 장소선정 및 일정을 부하직원들이 주도적으로 해 나가기를 바라고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 구조적 문제점에서 나타났듯이 2차 3차 늦어지는 회식과 회식의 본연의 취지를 살려 인간관계가 원활히 되기를 바라는 것으로 분석되었다. 넷째, 회식문화의 구조적 문제점과 직장인들이 바라는 회식의 방향을 종합 분석하여 실천가능한 회식문화의 모델을 제안하였다. This study was conducted to establish an attainable theoretical model in regards to office workers' get-together culture. In order to do so, four subjects were selected to tell all about the get-together culture and interviewed for a qualitative analysis. First, it discussed the change and circumstances of paradigm of the get-together culture. Second, the structural problems of the get-together culture included exceeding drinking and coercive drinking, get-together around alcoholic drinks, almost coercive participation (selection of menus, places, and schedules), going home too late and loss of other social relationships, and lack of purpose of get-together. Third, the get-together culture desired by employees includes get-together for sports or cultural activities besides drinking and where the subordinate employees can select the menus, places, and schedules of get-together. As shown with the structural issues, the employees wanted to eliminate get-together that ends too late and expand the social relationships by clarifying the purpose of get-together. Fourth, structural issues of the get-together culture and the get-together culture desired by employees were comprehensively analyzed to suggest an attainable model for the get-together culture.

The purpose of this study is to provide cybershopping malls of electronic market our country with the suggestive point in the Demand forecasts for coping with our continuously-changing environment on the basis of data gained through the following results of my research work. We tried the forecast on the demand to analyze the proper amount of supply. we did the analysis by using the statistic program of Box-Jenkins in SPSSWIN Version 10.0 for 13 months from November 2000 to November 2001, various issues of sales with this analysis are as follows. First, the data on the difference of sales has showed that is a difference between the sales of demand. Second, as in shown in the analysis result of demand forecast, clothing, books, sport goods...showed the increasing trend.
