저등급석탄(低等級石炭)(인도네시아 IBC)의 고정층(固定層) 반응기(反應器) 실험(實驗)을 통한 건조(乾操) 반응속도론(反應速度論) 연구(硏究)

에너지 위기로 인하여 석탄에 대한 관심이 증가하고 있다. 그 중에서도 저등급석탄에 대한 관심이 증가하고 있는데, 저등급석탄은 수분함량이 30~60%갱도로 수분함량이 높다. 이러한 저등급 석탄을 발전용 연료로 사용하기 위해서는 건조공정이 선행적으로 이루어져야 한다. 본 연구에서는 고정층 반응기를 이용하여 저등급석탄의 건조 반응속도론을 도출하였다. 건조반응속도는 입자크기, 주입가스 온도, 가스 유속, L/D의 영향을 변수로 하여 도출하였다. Reynold's number는 가스 유속과 석탄업자의 크기, L/D는 반응기 직경과 대상탄의 충진양을 보정하기 위해 고려하였다. 석탄의 건조 특성에서도 알 수 있듯이, 고정층 반응기를 이용한 저등급석탄의 건조에 있어서도 표면수분의 건조가 원활하며, 상 경계 반응이 적합한 메커니즘임을 확인 할 수 있었다. The crisis of energy gives rise to the growing concerns over continuing uncertainty in the energy market. Under these circumstances, there are also increasing interests on coals. In particular, Low Rank Coal (LRC) is receiving gradual attentions from green industry. But due to is high moisture content range from 30 - 60%, drying process has to be preceded before being utilized as power plant. In this study drying kinetics of LRC is induced by using a fixed-bed reactor. The drying kinetics was evaluated in from of the particle size, the inlet gas temperature, the drying time, the gas velocity, and the LID ratio. The consideration of the reynold's number was taken for correction of gas velocity, particle size and LID was taken for correction of reactor diameter, packing height of coal. As being seen as characteristic of drying coal, it can be found that fixed-bed reactor can contributed to active drying of free water. In this sense, it could be considered that phase boundary reaction is appropriate mechanism.
Vitamin D Receptor Gene TaqI, BsmI and FokI Polymorphisms in Korean Patients with Tuberculosis

Background: The active metabolite (1, 25- dihydroxycholecalciferol)of vitamin D (25-hydroxycholecalciferol) leads to activation of macrophages and deficiency of vitamin D seems to be involved in the risk of tuberculosis. The effects of vitamin D are exerted by interaction with the vitamin D receptor (VDR) and may be influenced by polymorphism in the VDR gene. In this study, variation in the VDR gene was investigated in Korean population with tuberculosis. Methods: We typed three VDR polymorphisms of restriction endonuclease sites for TaqI, BsmI and FokI in 155 patients with tuberculosis and 105 healthy volunteers. Results: The frequencies of FokI genotypes determined from TB patients were 29.13%for FF, 56.31% for Ff, and 14.56% for ff. We observed 1.4-fold increased prevalence of the Ff genotype in TB patients compared with normal healthy groups (p=0.0857). However, there was no significant association between the genotype groups, TB patient and normal control, for FokI polymorphism. There was also no significant association between VDR gene and tuberculosis in another polymorphism (BsmI and TaqI). Conclusion: Three polymorphisms (TaqI,BsmI and FokI) in the VDR gene do not appear to be responsible for host susceptibility to human tuberculosis in Korean population.

The nucleotide-oligomerization domain (NOD) proteins are members of the NOD-like receptor (NLR) family, which are intracellular and cytoplasmic receptors. We analyzed the role of NODs for cytokine production by macrophages infected with intracellular pathogen M. leprae, the causative agent of leprosy. Production of pro-inflammatory cytokines such as IL-1β and TNF-α was inhibited in the presence of cytochalasin D, an agent blocking phagocytosis, suggesting that intracellular signaling was, partially, required for macrophage activation to M. leprae infection. Next, we investigated the role of NOD1 and NOD2 proteins on NF-κB activation and cytokine expression. Treatment with M. leprae significantly increased NF-κB activation and expression of TNF-α and IL-1β in NOD1- and NOD2-transfected cells. Interestingly,their activation and expression were inhibited by cytochalasin D, suggesting that stimulation of NOD proteins may be associated with the enhancement of cytokine production in host to M. leprae.
Numerical Investigation of Active Control for an S809 Wind Turbine Airfoil

Recently, the necessity of using natural resources, like wind energy, has been greatly highlighted due to the limitation of fossil energy and the increase of environmental pollution. Therefore, many countries have begun their investigation in wind power generators. Also,National Institutes such as Riso (Denmark), ECN (Netherlands), and NREL (USA) have conducted many studies in this area. With the development of new design techniques, the size of wind turbines has been gradually increasing. So, the performance of wind turbines has become even more important. The flow control device is used for higher aerodynamic performance. In the present study,the aerodynamic performance of a wind turbine blade equipped with a flow control device is studied using a commercial flow analysis code, Ansys Fluent. The model used for calculation is an S809 airfoil that was tested in the low-turbulence wind tunnel of TU Delft. First, steady state results for the S809 airfoil, with change of angle of attack, are compared with experimental results. These steady state results show good agreement with the experimental results. Second, the computational results for the flow control device are presented for the aerodynamic performance of the S809 airfoil. When the position of the jet slot is x/c=0.6, computed results show a maximum lift coefficient of α = 14.24o. When the position of the jet slot is x/c = 0.025, computed results show a stall delay of α = 14.24o and 20.15o.
