This study was to charaterize the concentrations of the spring and summer seasons for ozone. Ozone measured using the O3 Analyzer(49C, TEI.). Samples were measured from April to May, 1937 and from July to August, 1998. Five areas were investigated in Busan of which measured sites were Seomyeon, Sasang, Geumjeong, Yeongdo, Guseodong. Ozone concentrations in industry area(Sasang) were higher than the other sites. The maximum concentration is 0.038 ppm and the minimum is 0.012 ppm in this site
적외선 열화상 카메라를 이용한 Plume 형상에 따른 Nd:YAG 레이저 용접 결함 평가

In Nd:YAG laser welding, evaluation methods of welding flaw are various. But, the method due to plume shape is difficult to classification of welding flaw. The Nd:YAG laser process it known to have high speed and deep penetration capability to become one of the most advanced welding technologies. At the present time, some methods are studied for measurement of plume shape by using high-speed camera and photo diode. This paper describes the machining characteristics of SM45C carbon steel welding by use of an Nd:YAG laser. In spite of its good mechanical characteristics, SM45C carbon steel has a high carbon contents and suffers a limitation in the industrial application due to the poor welding properties. In this study, plume shape was measured by infrared thermal camera that is non-contact /non-destructive thermal measurement equipment through change of laser generating power, speed, focus. Weld was performed on bead-on method. Measurement results are compared as two equipments. Here, two results are composed of measurement results of plume quantities due to plume shape by infrared thermal camera and inspection results of weld bead include weld flaws by ultrasonic inspector.

Endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress induces unfolded protein response (UPR) via inositol-requiring enzyme 1 (IRE1) activation, which sends a molecular signal for X box-binding protein 1 (XBP1) mRNA splicing in the cytosol. IRE1 endoribonuclease activity induces cleavage of XBP1 mRNA. The XBP1 mRNA is then ligated by an uncharacterized RNA ligase and translated to produce spliced XBP1 by 23 nt removed in which contains the PstI restriction enzyme site. The splicing of XBP1 mRNA can be detected by semiquantitative RT-PCR, and then splicing of XBP1 is a useful tool to measure the genetic variability in ER stress. In this study, we have estimated IRE1-dependent splicing of XBP1 mRNA under conditions of various hypothermia. The results indicated that hypothermia regulated ER stress. This study demonstrated that hypothermia is closely related to ER stress and may be useful for early diagnosis of ER-associated disease.

Background: Tumor necrosis factor-related apoptosis-inducing ligand (TRAIL) is a promising cancer therapeutic agent. Recombinant human TRAIL has been under clinicaltrials, whereas various kinds of malignant tumors have resistance to TRAIL. So, combination therapy with other anticancer agents is a promising strategy to overcome TRAIL resistance. Parthenolide (PT) has recently been demonstrated as a promising anticancer agent and several investigations of combined therapy PT are reported.Methods: In this study, we investigate the molecular mechanisms by which PT sensitizes colorectal cancer (CRC) cells to TRAIL-induced apoptosis. HT-29 (TRAIL-resistant)and HCT116 (TRAIL-senstive) cells were treated with PT and/or TRAIL. The results demonstrated that combined treatment induced apoptosis which was determined using MTT, cell cycle analysis, annexin-V assay, and Hoechst 33258 staining. Results: Interestingly, we confi rm that HCT116 cells have much higher death receptor(DR) 5 than HT-29 cells and PT upregulates DR5 protein level and surface expression in both of cell lines. Apoptosis through the mitochondrial pathway was confi rmed by detecting regulation of Bcl-2 family members, p53 cytochrome C release and caspase cascades. Conclusions: These results suggest that PT sensitizes TRAIL-induced apoptosis via upregulation of DR5 and mitochondrial-dependent pathway. Combination treatment using PT and TRAIL might offer an effective strategy to overcome TRAIL resistance in certain CRC cells.

The purpose of this study is to identify which width of the base of support(BOS) is safer and more effective in lifting by comparing muscle activations and body sways when lifting objects under the width variation of the BOS. A total of fifteen healthy adults participated in this study. For the width variation of the BOS, the participants changed the width between their feet into three different types(10cm, 32cm, 45cm) and lifted a 10kg four times in each type after going up on a force plate. In order to measure body sways according to the width variation of the BOS, a motion analysis system was used. In addition, in order to measure the muscle activations of lower extremities, including the erector spinae, gluteus maximus, rectus femoris, and tibialis anterior, an electromyogram(EMG) analysis was employed. In addition, the Borg's scale was drawn by quantifying the subjective discomfort levels felt from each width of the BOS. In conclusion, no statistically significant differences according to the width variation of the BOS were observed(p=.295, .308)(p>.05). However, a statistically significant difference was exhibited between the Borg's scale, which indicates the discomfort levels from lifting performances, and the width variation of the BOS (p=.000*).
