초등학생의 가정폭력 노출과 학교적응의 관계: 외적·내적 발달자산의 중다매개효과

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 연구는 발달자산이 가정폭력 노출과 학교적응의 관계를 중다매개 하는지 검증하기 위해 수행되었다. 이를 위해, G시 초등학교 5, 6학년 1,097명을 대상으로 가정폭력 노출, 발달자산, 학교적응을 평가하는 설문을 실시하여 자료를 수집하였다. 이 가운데 가정폭력에 노출된 적이 있는 683명(남학생 351명, 여학생 332명)의 자료를 분석하였다. 이 연구에서 설정한 가설은 구조방정식 모형을 활용하여 검증되었다.
이 연구에서 밝혀진 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다.
첫째, 가정폭력에 노출된 전체 집단의 경우, 가정폭력 노출과 학교적응의 관계에서 외적 발달자산과 내적 발달자산의 중다매개효과가 유의하였다. 가정폭력 노출은 외적 발달자산에 유의한 부적 영향을 주었고, 외적 발달자산은 내적 발달자산에 유의한 정적 영향을 미쳤다. 또한 내적 발달자산은 학교적응에 유의한 정적 영향을 미쳤다. 즉 가정폭력 노출은 외적 발달자산의 수준을 낮추고, 감소된 외적 발달자산은 내적 발달자산 수준을 낮추며, 감소된 내적 발달자산은 학교적응 수준을 낮추었다. 그러나 가정폭력 노출은 학교적응과 내적 발달자산에 유의한 영향을 미치지 않았고, 외적 발달자산은 학교적응에 유의한 영향을 미치지 않았다. 이를 통해 가정폭력 노출과 학교적응의 관계에서 외적 발달자산은 유의한 매개효과를 나타내지 않으며, 내적 발달자산 또한 가정폭력 노출과 학교적응의 관계에서 유의한 매개효과를 나타내지 않음을 알 수 있었다. 따라서 가정폭력 노출은 학교적응에 직접적인 효과를 나타내지 않고, 외적 발달자산과 내적 발달자산을 거치는 중다매개효과를 통해서만 간접적으로 영향을 미치고 있음을 알 수 있었다.
둘째, 가정폭력에 노출된 남학생 집단의 경우, 가정폭력 노출이 학교적응에 미치는 직접적 효과가 유의하였고, 가정폭력 노출과 학교적응의 관계에서 외적 발달자산과 내적 발달자산의 중다매개효과가 유의하였다. 가정폭력 노출은 외적 발달자산과 학교적응에 유의한 부적 영향을 주었고, 외적 발달자산은 내적 발달자산에 유의한 정적 영향을 미쳤다. 또한 내적 발달자산은 학교적응에 유의한 정적 영향을 미쳤다. 즉 가정폭력에 노출된 남학생 집단에서도 가정폭력 노출은 외적 발달자산의 수준을 낮추고, 감소된 외적 발달자산은 내적 발달자산 수준을 낮추며, 감소된 내적 발달자산은 학교적응 수준을 낮추었다. 그러나 가정폭력 노출이 내적 발달자산에 미치는 영향과 외적 발달자산이 학교적응에 미치는 영향은 유의하지 않았다. 이를 통해 가정폭력 노출과 학교적응의 관계에서 외적 발달자산과 내적 발달자산은 각각 매개변인으로 작용하지 않음을 알 수 있다. 따라서 남학생 집단의 경우, 가정폭력 노출이 학교적응에 직접적인 부적 영향을 미치고, 가정폭력은 외적 발달자산과 내적 발달자산을 경유하는 중다매개효과를 통해서 학교적응에 간접적인 영향을 주는 것으로 나타났다.
셋째, 가정폭력에 노출된 여학생 집단의 경우, 가정폭력 노출과 학교적응의 관계에서 외적 발달자산과 내적 발달자산의 중다매개효과가 유의하였다. 가정폭력 노출은 외적 발달자산에 유의한 부적 영향을 주었고, 외적 발달자산은 내적 발달자산에 유의한 정적 영향을 미쳤다. 이어서 내적 발달자산은 학교적응에 유의한 정적 영향을 미쳤다. 그러나 가정폭력 노출이 학교적응과 내적 발달자산에 미치는 영향과 외적 발달자산이 학교적응에 미치는 영향은 유의하지 않았다. 이를 통해 가정폭력 노출과 학교적응의 관계에서 외적 발달자산과 내적 발달자산 각각은 매개변인으로 작용하지 않음을 알 수 있다. 따라서 여학생 집단에서는 가정폭력 노출이 학교적응에 직접적으로 영향을 미치지 않고, 외적 발달자산과 내적 발달자산을 경유한 중다매개효과를 통해서 간접적으로만 학교적응에 영향을 미쳤다.
이 연구의 결과는 가정폭력에 노출된 아동들에게 외적․내적 발달자산이 미치는 긍정적 영향을 시사한다. 또한 가정폭력 노출과 학교적응의 관계에서 외적 발달자산이 내적 발달자산을 증진시키는 중다매개효과를 통해 학교적응을 향상시킬 수 있다는 것을 시사한다. 따라서 가정폭력에 노출되기 전이나 노출된 직후에 예방 및 개입 프로그램을 실시하여 발달자산을 증진시켜 가정폭력으로 인한 학교 부적응 발생의 위험으로부터 아동을 보호해야 할 필요가 있다. 마지막으로, 이 연구의 제한점과 후속 연구를 위한 제언을 제시하였다.
