아동빈곤이 가정내 사회적 자본과 문화적 자본을 통해 학교적응에 미치는 영향 = The Effects of Child Poverty on the School Adjustment Through Social Capital and Cultural Capital Within the Family

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study is to investigate effects of child poverty on school adjustment through social and cultural capital within a family and to show intermediate effects between these circumstances. For empirical study, data on survey was collected from 593 students ; 4th, 5th, and 6th grade students in Seoul, and poverty status among these children was depended by whether they get help with government fund for the school meals. For the statistical analysis method, I employed structural equation modeling. In conclusion to this study the welfare of the state of impoverish children, with sequential rack of social capital caused by financial issue eventually brings negative school adjustment outcomes such as segregation from the group, rather than it is directly influenced by poverty. Therefore, it would seem best to help schools adjust to this issue by implementing a plan to integrate both groups by concentrating on compatibility efforts in both the school setting as well as the non-school settings, along with increasing social capital of low-income families.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구의 목적은 빈곤이 아동의 학교적응에 미치는 영향에 대한 가정내 사회적 자본과 문화적 자본의 매개효과를 검증하는 것이다. 이를 위해 서울 내의 초등학교 두 곳의 4, 5, 6학년 593명을 연구대상으로 표집하였으며, 아동의 빈곤여부는 급식비 지원여부로 판단하였다. 표집된 자료는 구조방정식 모형분석방법을 통하여 분석하였다.
분석 결과, 아동의 학교적응은 빈곤에 의해 직접적으로 영향을 받기 보다는 빈곤이 사회적 자본에 영향을 미침으로써 결과적으로 아동의 학교적응에 부정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 문화적 자본의 매개효과는 나타나지 않았다. 이 결과를 바탕으로 빈곤아동의 가정내 사회적 자본을 높이는 정책적․실천적 방안에 대하여 논의하였다.
