      • Azithromycin으로 치료한 임신 중 쓰쓰가무시병 1예

        We report a case of tsutsugamushi disease in a 26 year-old pregnant woman who was treated with azithromycin. Her gestation period was 27 weeks and she admitted with fever, rash, and eschar on the right shoulder. Currently recommended medications for the treatment of scrub typhus are doxycycline or chloramphenicol. But, these drugs are class D drugs according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Fetal Risk Summary, so they couldn't be used to treat pregnant women. Recently, a few case reports suggested that azithromycin, a relatively new macrolide antibiotic, was effective and safe for the treatment of scrub typhus in pregnant women. And, there is no evidence that azithromycin causes harmful effects to the developing fetus or to children. On the basis of current in vivo test that confirms the effectiveness of azithromycin, it may be the drug of choice for the treatment of scrub typhus in pregnant women and children.         平面式 太陽熱集熱機를 利用한 紅蔘乾燥

        密閉式물 交換太陽 熱集熱乾燥製置를 利用하여 紅蔘을 乾燥할때의 集熱效率, 乾燥效率. 乾燥特性 및 製品의 品質을 各各 調査하였다. 乾燥其間은 太陽熱集熱製置를 利用한 것이 慣行法보다 3分의 1程度를 더 短 할 수 있었다. 乾燥其間中集熱機의 最大效率은 14.42% 最低效率은 4.73%였고 乾燥效率은 集熱製置를 利用한 것이 28.34%, 對照區가 13.45%로서 純粹乾燥效率은 14.89%이었다. 紅蔘의 乾燥率曲線은 減率乾燥期만을 나타내었으며, 이 때의 式은 Y=50.7023t.-014138 이었다. 乾燥紅蔘의 色度는 慣行法과 比較하여 더 높았으며, diphenylpicryl hydrazyl 遇元能도 같은 傾向을 보였다. A closed solar collector drying system by water exchange was evaluated for the drying of ginseng. The thermal efficiency of solar collector, drying efficiency, drying characteristics and product quality were investigated. The drying period was reduced by one-thirds in comparison with typical method. The maximum and minimum thermal efficiency of the solar collector during drying period were 14.42%, and 4.73%, respectively. The drying efficiency of solar collector and control system showed 28.34%, and 13.45%, respectively: net drying efficiency being 14.8%. The drying rate curve of red ginseng showed only falling rate period, and its equation was Y=50.7023t.^(-0.4138) The brown color intensity of red ginseng was higher in solar collector drying system than in typical method, and reductivity by diphenyl picryl hydrazil solution in red ginseng extract showed similar result to brown color intensity.

        축대칭 렌즈 코어의 초정밀 보정가공에 관한 연구

        Code V was used to make a plan for collimator lens with aspherical surface in the present study. The acquired optical design data were applied for ultra-precision machining. The optimum properties were determined to find ways to compensate the tool positioning error allowance during the ultra-precision machining. In ultra-precision aspheric machining, figure tolerance corrected by tool positioning error be improved by compensation cycle number.

        Background : In recent years, gonorrhea has been panedemic and remains one of the most commom STDs in the world, especially in developing countries. Objective & Methods: For the detection of a more effective therapeutic regimen and assessing the prevalence of PPNG, we have been trying to study the patients who have visited the VD Clinic of Choong-Ku Public Health Center in Seoul since 1980 by means of the chromogenic cephalosporin method. Results: In 1996, 139 strains of N. gonorrhoeae were isolated, among which 53(39.0%) were PPNG. Conclusion: Our results suggests that after a peak of 74.3% in 1993, the prevalence of PPNG in Seoul is gradually declining.

      • Multiple Shoots Regeneration and In vitro Bulblet Formation from Garlic Callus

        The leaf segments of garlic (Allium sativum L.) were cultured in vitro and determined optimal concentration of plant growth regulators and sugars for callus induction, multiple shoots regeneration and in vitro bulblet formation. Highest yield of callus was observed in the leaf segment culture on Murashige and Skoog (MS) medium supplemented with 1.0 mg/L 2,4-D, 30 g/L sucrose and 8 g/L agar. Regeneration rate of multiple shoots from callus was high in the MS medium supplemented with kinetin 3.0 + NAA 3.0 mg/L or SA 1.0 + NAA 3.0 mg/L, containing 30 g/L sucrose. High rate of bulblet formation was observed as the concentration of jasmonic acid increased from 0.5 to 2.0 mg/L in medium, whereas addition of gibberellic acid significantly suppressed bulblet formation. The rate of in vitro bulbing was as high as $96\%$ in MS medium supplemented with 2.0 mg/L jasmonic acid and 120 g/l sucrose after two month culture at $25{\pm}1^{\circ}C$ under 16 hours day light.

      • Extracts of Scutellariae Radix inhibit low-density lipoprotein oxidation and the lipopolysaccharide-induced macrophage inflammatory response

        <P>Traditional herbal formulas made from Scutellariae Radix (SR), the root of Scutellaria baicalensis, have previously been used in the treatment of inflammatory diseases, such as atherosclerosis. The aim of the present study was to investigate the effects of SR on low-density lipoprotein (LDL) oxidation and inflammation in macrophages, which are early events in the development of atherosclerosis. High-performance liquid chromatography photo-diode array analysis was used to obtain a three-dimensional chromatogram of SR. The antioxidative effects of SR were evaluated by determining its scavenging activities against ABTS and DPPH radicals. The inhibitory effect of SR on LDL oxidation was examined using a thiobarbituric acid-reactive substance assay and a relative electrophoretic mobility assay. In addition, the anti-inflammatory effects of SR were evaluated in lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced RAW264.7 murine macrophage cells. The results showed that SR exhibited radical-scavenging activities in a dose-dependent manner; in addition, SR attenuated the Cu2+-induced oxidation of LDL as well as significantly inhibited nitric oxide (NO) production and inducible NO synthase (iNOS) expression in LPS-induced RAW264.7 cells. Furthermore, SR induced the protein expression of heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1) in RAW264.7 cells. In conclusion, the results of the present study demonstrated that SR decreased the oxidation of LDL and suppressed inflammatory responses in macrophages, which occurred at least in part via the induction of HO?1. These results therefore suggested that SR may be a potential therapeutic agent for the treatment of atherosclerosis.</P>

        倪瓚의 회화적 意境美의 특성에 관한 고찰

        This paper is designed to find out the aesthetics of painting on the uniformity of poem, writing, and painting by Ni Zan (1303~1374) who lived in 14th century. The uniformity of literature (poem) and arts (writing and painting) may be considered as the most innovative and predominant artistic trend in 14th century. Of course, although the uniformity between the poem, writing and paint had been tried during the Northern Song Dynasty with Su Shi recognizing the paining as one of the literature, it was during the period of Yuan Dynasty that the uniformity showed the literary and rich beauty of the uigyeong. As the Mongol tribe which was enemy to Han Chinese tribe ruled Han Chinese tribe during the Yuan Dynasty, the period was sad for Han Chinese people. In addition, as the official examination system for the government officials was not conducted during that period, the noblemen having a lot of knowledge had nothing more than to reside in the study, garden or mountain to write their own poems, draw the paintings and write the essays. In addition, as the cultural activities of groups, they made the criticism over the study, literature and arts, thus leading the consciousness of the beauty during that time. Especially, Zhao Mengfu, Ke Jiusi, Yang Weizhen, TANG Hou, and four painters (Huang Gongwang, Ni Zan, Meng Wang and Wu Zhen led the aesthetic consciousness of Yuan Dynasty. At that period, as there was not the gardening system and ‘Saseung’ relation, the ‘Goi’ arts and the indivdiual’s ‘Saeui’ art were very predominant. Among them, a person who is distinct with the ‘Uigyeong’ beauty in the painting is Ni Zan due to his uniformity over poem, writing and painting. His simplistic painting of nature showed his thoughts along with his zeitgeist, his own experience in life and ideology through the vanity and nothingness. In his painting or poem, the detailed physical aspect or rhythm was not so important. In the calligraphy and painting, he was not much bothered by the technical dexterity. He simply put emphasis on his thought over the looks. Therefore, he got his own technique and rule and at the same time, has the sufficient value by merging the literature with the arts. The practice of this art led him to realize the human individuality and make him free from the previous norm or order. This was the achievement of creative arts for him. So, though his painting itself is the masterpiece of itself, his calligraphy, and poem are also recognized by descendants as the best arts so that his prestige has been known up to now. 본 논문은 14세기에 살았던 예찬(倪瓚:1301~1374)의 시(詩)·서(書)·화(畵) 일률(一律)에 관한 회화 미학을 밝히는 데 목적이 있다. 문학(시)과 예술(서화)의 일률은 14세기에 가장 혁신적이면서 당대의 주류(主流)를 이룬 예술 경향이라 할 수 있다. 물론 시·서·화 일률의 시도는 이미 북송시대에 소식이 회화를 문(文)으로 인식하여 시도하였지만, 문학적이며 풍부한 의경(意警)의 미가 잘 드러난 시대는 원나라이다. 원대에는 이민족인 몽골족이 한나라를 지배하였기에 한족에게는 매우 불우한 시대였다. 그리고 과거제도도 시행되지 않아서 학식과 지식을 갖춘 많은 사대부가 서재, 정원, 산수 등에 은거하여 자신의 흥에 따라 시를 짓고 그림을 그리며 글씨를 쓰기도 했고 또 아집(集團) 문화 활동으로 학문, 문예, 예술 비평을 하여 당대의 미의식을 선도해 나갔다. 특히 조맹부(趙孟頫)로부터 시작하여 가구사(柯九思), 양유정(楊維楨), 탕후(湯垕), 사대 화가[황공망, 예찬, 왕몽, 오진] 등이 원나라 미의식을 선도해 나갔으며 이 당시에는 화원 제도뿐만 아니라 사승(師承)의 관계도 없었기 때문에 고의(古意)예술과 개성주의인 사의(寫意) 예술이 가장 부흥한 시기였다. 이중에서 시·서·화 일률로 인해 회화에서 가장 의경(意境) 미가 풍부한 문인은 예찬이다. 그의 간결한 자연의 형상에는 허실(虛實), 유무(有無)를 통해 그의 시대정신과 자신 인생의 경험, 사상이 함께 융합되어 자유롭게 그의 뜻이 표현되었다. 그는 그림을 그리거나 시를 읊은 것에 대해서 구체적인 물상과 음률은 그리 중요하게 여기지 않았고 서예와 회화에 대하여 기술이 능숙하든지 졸렬하든지에 크게 상관하지 않았다. 단지 그는 그 형상 너머 그의 뜻을 표현하는 것을 중시했다. 그렇기에 그는 스스로 독립적인 자신의 기교와 법칙을 가지게 되었고 아울러 문학과 예술이 상호 융합되어 풍부한 심오한 담(淡)의 의경 미가 회화에 표현되었다. 이러한 예술의 실천은 인간개성의 주체적 의식을 각성시키게 되었고 나아가 이전 시대의 의례적 질서로부터 그를 해방했다. 이점이 예찬에게 가장 커다란 창조적 예술성취이며 그의 회화 자체로도 일품이지만, 서예와 시 또한, 일품(逸品)의 예술임을 후대에 많은 사람이 품평하였다.
