고령토로부터 알루미나 추출에 관한 연구(Ⅱ) : 질산에 의한 추출

The preparation conditions of alumina powder extracted from domestic San-Cheong Kaolin by nitric acid were investigated. The experimental conditions which have an effect on the yield of alumina were as follows ; the calcination temperature and time, the acid concentration, the reaction temperature and time, pH of the extracted solution, and particle size of the raw material. The aggolomeration of pseudo-boehmite precipitated by NH₄OH at pH 8 was controlled by various drying methods. α-Al₂O₃powder prepared by heating of the dried powder for 1 hour at 1200℃. Under the optimum condition, the yield and purity of α-Al₂O₃powder were 73.6 percent and 95.5 percent, respectively. The alumina particles prepared by the freeze drying method revealed narrower size distribution and less agglomerate than others. And impurities of the raw material which have an effect on the extraction of alumina were Kyanite and Anorthite.

약물의 in vitro 투과 실험을 위한 사람의 비강점막상피세포 단층막의 일차배양

The primary culture of human nasal epithelial cell monolayer was performed on a Transwell. The effect of various factors on the tight junction formation was observed in order to develop an in vitro experimental system for nasal transport studies. Human nasal epithelial cells, collected from human normal inferior turbinates, were plated onto diverse inserts. After 4 days, media of the apical surface was removed for air-liquid interface (ALI) culture. Morphological characteristics was observed by transmission electron microscopy (TEM). A polyester membrane of 0.4 μm pore size was determined as the most effective insert based on the change in the transepithelial electric resistance (TEER) value as well as the ^14C-mannitol transport study. The ALI method was effective in developing the tight junction as observed in the further increase in the TEER value and reduction in the permeability coefficient (P_app) of ^14C-mannitol transport. Results of the transport study of a model drug, budesonide, showed that the primary culture system developed in this study could be further developed and applied for in vitro nasal transport studies.

There exists a major impediment to learning electricity which may illuminate why direct presentation of scientists' ideas is too aggressive a strategy. This impediment lies in thinking that electricity is used up and in envisaging the light bulb as a consumer. This view is based on a powerful idea which summarises much of our experience; it declares that 'things get used up', 'you cannot get something for nothing', and 'intuitive thinking'. To replace this view with scientific view, we made the analogy model. It is suggested that the analogy model is more effective in teaching electricity circuits than conventional teaching method.

화장품 유통경로에 따른 소비자 쇼핑성향, 정보원, 점포이미지에 관한 연구

The present study attempts to identify the differences in consumer information source, shopping orientation, and store image in the purchase of cosmetics in adult women at the age of 20 or more according to the distributions channels: department stores, specialty stores, discount stores and direct mails. From October 3 to 13, a survey was conducted to 1,200 adult women who visited each channel and who would understand the purpose of this study and complete the questionnaire. 300 sheets were distributed to each of the channels under investigation, and a total of 1,116 questionaaires were used in the final analysis. Using the statistical package, SPSS WIN 10.0, factor analysis, ANOVA, and Duncan's post-hoc test were carried out. The result are as follows: 1. There was a difference in the demographical characteristics of the consumers according to the distribution channels for cosmetics. 2. There was a difference in the shopping orientations of the consumers according to the distribution channels for cosmetics. 3. There was a difference in the information sources of the consumers according to the distribution channels for cosmetics. 4. There was a difference in the store images perceived by the consumers according to the distribution channels for cosmetics.

PDMS와 유리를 이용한 제한효 반응용 마이크로바이오칩 개발

최근 생화학 심험 분야에서 초미세 구조를 이용한 소형화 분야가 두드러지게 나타나고 있다. 소형화의 가증 큰 이점은 적은 양의 시료가 사용되기 때문에 실험 비용이 줄어들 뿐 아니라 실험 시간이 단축 된다는 것이다. 게다가 하나의 칩으로 바이오 실험의 모든 단계가 수행되는 랩 온어 칩의 통합을 위한 가능성을 나타내어 준다, 우리는 제한 효소 반응 실험에 응용하기 위해 새로운 마이크로바이오칩을 개발하였다, 이 마이크로 바이오칩은 PDMS와 유리를 사용해 제작하였고 총 실험 반응 양의 10㎕이다, 마이크로바이오칩을 이용한 제한효소 실험은 일반적으로 행해지는 실험 방법에 비해 반응 시간과 시료 양을 단축하는데 성공적이었다. 시각 커뮤니케이션으로서의 패션 일러스트레이션에 관한 연구 : 은유와 환유를 중심으로 Based on Metaphor and Metonymy

The purpose of this study is to analyze the expression and possibility of metaphor and metonymy as a visual communication means in the history of fashion illustration. The findings of this study were as follows : The 20th century ago, fashion illustration has shown a metaphor and metonymy in caricature and image drawing. From the 1900 to 1929, it has shown a metonymy in omission, figure's one part and metaphor in significant elements, colors, image dissection, parody, etc. From the 1930 to 1959, it has shown a metaphor in figure's substitution by surrealism and metonymy in simplification. From the 1960 the 1979, it has shown a metaphor in illusion and collage. Since 1980, it has shown a metaphor in figure's transformation, distortion, combination of different kinds by postmodernism.

서울 및 경기지역 노인의 신체적 건강 및 기능적 건강 실태 조사

This study was performed to assess anthropometric status, functional health and physical fitness among the elderly in Seoul and Kyunggi-do. Four hundred forty free-living elderly people(127 male, 331 female), aged 65 or more were interviewed by trained interviewers using structured questionnaires including demographic information, activities of daily living(ADL), instrumental activities of daily living(IADL), physical activity. And they measured anthropometic status and physical fitness. All the data were analyzed by student t-test, chi-square analysis using SPSS 9.0 version at p<0.05. The results can be summarized as follow : Of all the subjects, 46.3% were obesity, especially 92.4% of female were abdominal obesity. In functional health status, ADL score was 6.62±1.54, and IADL score was 25.94±6.92. Most of the subjects were difficult to walk and run. Female was a significantly higher flexibility and body fat than male(p<0.001), whereas female was a significantly lower muscular endurance than male(p<0.001).

비만 개선 효과를 지닌 탄수화물 및 지방 흡수 억제 기능성 식이조성물 개발

In a previous study, we developed a new food additive as an egg yolk antibody (IgY) against carbohydrate digestion enzymes for the regulation of blood glucose level and weight control. The IgY delayed and decreased the increment of blood glucose level after administration of sucrose in human being by 30% in 20∼30 min. We also developed a lipase inhibitor as a water extract of two kinds of herb, Platycodon grandiflorum and Solanum melongena. Twenty three volunteers were subjected to the intake of the egg yolk IgY plus the herbal extracts for 50 days. In average, the treated subjects appeared to lose 1.96 ㎏ of body weight and 3.4 ㎏ of body fat mass during the treated period. Furthermore, Panniculus adiposus and breech size were significantly decreased during the experimental period. Above results suggested that the administration of the dietary additives composed of egg yolk IgY and natural herbal extract improve the obesity by the decrement of body weight and body fat mass.

개 원발성 면역매개성 혈소판 감소증 증례

A 13-year-old, castrated male, Maltese-dog was admitted to the Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital of Chungnam National University with the history fo petechiae. On physical examination, she had petechiae and ecchymoses at her back, bilateral inguinal region, and inner part of ear pinna. CBC indicated neutrophilia and severe thrombocytopenia. A few platelets, no autoagglutination of RBC, and no spherocyte were observed. Coagulation profile demonstrated normal PT, and aPTT. No significant findings was not found on serum biochemical profile and electolytes test. FNA of a splenic mass which was found on the abdominal radiograph and sonograph demonstrated extramedullary hematopoiesis, Proteinuria was observed on urinarysis. Primary immune-mediated thrombocytopenia was diagnosed by ruling out of other underlying disease, severe thrombocytopenia, and response to immunosuppressive therapy. Prednisone and antibiotics were administered orally and parenterally, respectively. After altering prednisone to azathioprine, the number of platelets was recovered to normal range and petechiae and ecchymoses were improved.
