        Phosphodiesterase inhibitor improves renal tubulointerstitial Hypoxia of the Diabetic rat Kidney

        Background/Aims: Renal hypoxia is involved in the pathogenesis of diabetic nephropathy. Pentoxifyllin (PTX), a nonselective phosphodiesterase inhibitor, is used to attenuate peripheral vascular diseases. To determine whether PTX can improve renal hypoxia, we investigated its effect in the streptozocin (STZ)-induced diabetic kidney. Methods: PTX (40 mg/kg, PO) was administered to STZ-induced diabetic rats for 8 weeks. To determine tissue hypoxia, we examined hypoxic inducible factor-1α (HIF-1α), heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1), vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), and glucose transporter-1 (GLUT-1) levels. We also tested the effect of PTX on HIF-1α in renal tubule cells. Results: PTX reduced the increased protein creatinine ratio in diabetic rats at 8 weeks. HIF-1α, VEGF, and GLUT-1 mRNA expression increased significantly, and the expression of HO-1 also tended to increase in diabetic rats. PTX significantly decreased mRNA expression of HIF-1α and VEGF at 4 and 8 weeks, and decreased HO-1 and GLUT-1 at 4 weeks. The expression of HIF-1α protein was significantly increased at 4 and 8 weeks in tubules in the diabetic rat kidney. PTX tended to decrease HIF-1α protein expression at 8 weeks. To examine whether PTX had a direct effect on renal tubules, normal rat kidney cells were stimulated with CoCl2 (100 μM), which enhanced HIF-1α mRNA and protein levels under low glucose conditions (5.5 mM). Their expressions were similar even after high glucose (30 mM) treatment. PTX had no effect on HIF-1α expression. Conclusions: PTX attenuates tubular hypoxia in the diabetic kidney.

        The purpose of this study was to evaluate the fracture resistance of the marginal ridge of posterior teeth with class Ⅰ & Ⅱ silver amalgam, posterior composite, and composite resin inlay. The seventy-two extracted caries free human upper premolars were divided into six groups. Class Ⅰ and Class Ⅱ cavities were prepared and filled with amalgam, light curing composite resin, and resin inlay. Fracture strength was measured at the marginal ridge with "Instron". The results were as follows ; 1. Class Ⅰ restorations were stronger than Class Ⅱ in amalgam and composite resin filled group(P<0.05). There was no statistically significant difference in strength between Class Ⅰ resin inlay and Class Ⅰ resin inlay. 2. In the Class Ⅰ and the Class Ⅱ restorations, the best fracture resistance obtained in resin inlay, followed by composite resin, amalgam(P<0.05). In the Class Ⅰ restorations, result was the same but had no significant difference. 3. Class Ⅰ composite resin and Class Ⅰ resin inlay were stronger than Class Ⅱ amalgam(P<0.05). 4. In the Class Ⅰ restorations, when the marginal ridge was fractured, only enamel or enamel/material were involved. In the Class Ⅱ composite resin and Class Ⅱ resin inlay, enamel/material or only material were involved. In the Class Ⅱ amalgam, only material was fracture.

      • 이동 객체의 불확실한 위치 정보 관리

        데이터베이스를 이용하여 연속적인 이동 객체를 관리할 경우 매 시간마다 변경된 모든 위치 정보를 저장하는 것은 불가능하다. 그러므로, 일정한 비율의 시간 주기를 결정한 후 매 시간 주기마다 이동 객체의 위치 정보를 이산적으로 저장하게 된다. 그런데, 연속적인 모델의 이동 객체 데이터를 이산적인 형태로 관리하게 될 경우 샘플링되지 않은 불확실한 위치 정보에 대한 질의에 적절히 응답할 수 없는 문제점이 발생된다. 이와 같은 문제점을 해결하기 위해 이 논문에서는 기존에 제시된 선형 보간법 대신 좀 더 고차원적인 3차 스플라인 보간법을 이용하여 샘플링되지 않은 연속적인 이동 객체의 위치 정보 획득 방법 및 알고리즘을 제시하고, 이동 객체의 위치 정보에 대한 불확실성 값의 정량화 방법을 제시한다. 마지막으로, 제안한 방법을 적용할 수 있는 응용 분야의 한 사례 시스템을 설계하고 그 특성을 분석한다. If continuous moving objects are managed by conventional database, it is impossible that all position information changed over every time are stored in the database. Therefore, a time period of regular rate is determined and position information of moving objects are discretely stored in the system for every time period. However, if moving objects data of continuous model are managed as discrete type, the problem which the system cannot properly answer to the query about the uncertain position information without sampling will occur. In this paper, to solve this problem we propose the method and algorithm to capture continuous position information of moving objects without sampling using by the cubic spline interpolation method of higher level than the traditional linear interpolation, and we also suggest the method to quantify uncertainty value of position information of moving objects. Finally, we design an application system for which apply the proposed methods to the various area and analyze characteristics of the designed system.

        정상교합과 부정교합에서의 상·하악골과 제 1 대구치 위치에 관한 비교연구

        There has been so much controversies about the position of upper and lower jaws, and their first permanent molars in normal occlusion and Angle's class ⅠㆍⅡㆍⅢ malocclusions. So, the purpose of this study is to compare the position of upper and lower jaws, and their first molars in normal occlusion and Angle's class ⅠㆍⅡㆍⅢ malocclusions by lateral cephalometric analysis. The sample consisted of one hundred and twenty girls(thirty in each group) who had completed growth. The findings of this study were as follows : 1. In class Ⅰ malocclusion, both maxilla and mandible were slightly posterior position than normal occlusion, but they showed harmonious relationship. 2. In class Ⅱ malocclusion, the mandible was greatly retruded, and the maxilla was also slightly retruded to the cranial base as compared with normal occlusion. 3. In class Ⅲ malocclusion, the maxilla was significantly retruded to the cranial base, but no significant difference was found in mandibular position as compared with normal occlusion. 4. The maxillary first molar was located at posterior position in class Ⅱ malocclusion, and anterior position in class Ⅲ malocclusion to the cranium, so that the rotation of mandible was influenced by that. 5. The mandibular first molar showed constant relationship to the mandible in all four group, but different position to the cranial base in direct proportion to the mandibular position. 6. On the treatment planning of class Ⅲ malocclusion, it seems to be better to promote the mandibular horizontal growth by ingibiting the verbical growth of masillary molar area, and on the treatment planning of class Ⅲ malocclusion, it seems to be better to promote the antero-inferior growth of maxilla and to promote the mandibular vertical growth by inducing the vertical growth of maxillary molar area.

      • 東洋系 Cymbidium屬 種子의 無菌發芽와 幼苗의 增殖體系 確立

        동양계 Symbidium 속인 산천보세란 종자의 무균발아와 유묘증식을 위하여 근경형성을 위한 초기배양방법의 확립, 근경 및 유묘의 증식에 미치는 배지 및 Hormone제의 영향에 관한 실험을 수행한 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 산천보세란 종자발아는 H_3P_4+NAA 0.1㎎/ℓ, Kinetine 0.01㎎/ℓ첨가배지에서 가장 양호하였으며 발아에 소요된 일수도 210일로서 가장 짧았다. 종자발아에서 얻은 근경의 재증식은 H_3P_4배지에 NAA 1㎎/ℓ, Kinetine 1.0~3.0㎎/ℓ첨가한 배지에서 양호하였으며, 유묘의 증식과 생장에 있어서는 H_3P_4+α-as-paratic acid 0.5㎎/ℓ, NAA 1.0㎎/ℓ, BA 3㎎/ℓ첨가 배지에서 가장 양호하였다. 지금까지의 실험을 종합하여 볼때 무균종자를 파종해서 발아시킨 후, 근경을 급속으로 증식시키고 H_3P_4+NAA 1.0㎎/ℓ함유배지에 BA 3㎎/ℓ을 첨가시킨 후 치상하여 multiple shooting을 시킨 다음 동일조성의 배지에 Hormone제를 제거하고 활성탄 1.6g/ℓ을 첨가한 배지에 이식해서 생장을 도모한 후 광도를 높이고 온도를 낮추며 일장을 16시간 정도 조절하여 순화시킨뒤 폿드 이식 가능한 유묘를 대량샌산 할 수 있을것으로 판단된다. In the process of nonsymbiotic germination and seedling multiplication of Sancheunboseran seed (temperate zone ochid, cymbidium sinense Willd); to establis the early culture method for rhizome formation and to examine the effect of various media and hormone drugs upon the multiplication of rhizome and seeding were the main prupose of this experiment. The results obtained are as follows: The medium with hyponex 3g/ℓ, peptone 4g/ℓ, NAA 0.1㎎/ℓ and Kinetine 0.01㎎/ℓ added was best for the seed germination for Samcheunboseran: the days required for germination were 210- the shortest of all mcdia. The remultiplication of rhzome acquired in the seed germination was most active in the medium with hyponex 3g/ℓ, peptone 4g/ℓ and kinetin 1~3㎎/ℓ added. The seedling showed the best multiplicatin and growth in the medium with hyponex 3g/ℓ, peptone 4g/ℓ, L-asparatic acid 0.5㎎/ℓ, NAA 1.0㎎/ℓ, and BA 3㎎/ℓadded. These results recommend us to plant the aseptic seed, to multiply rhizomes rapidly after germination, to plant the rhizome in the medium with hyponex 3g/ℓ, peptone 4g/ℓ, and NAA 1㎎/ℓ added, to remove the hormone drugs from the medium after multiple shooting and add charcoal(1.6g/ℓ) to the medium, and to trnsplant seedling to the medium. Such procedure will make it possible to produce pottable seedling massively.

      • 기계적합화법으로 제조된 TiNi 분말의 방전플라즈마 소결에 관한 연구

        기계적합금화법(MA)에 의해 제조된 TiNi 분말을 사용하여 방전플라즈마 소결법(SPS)으로 소결체를 제조하고 치밀화 거동을 조사하기 위하여 미세조직의 관찰 및 상분석을 행하였다. SPS법으로 소결체를 제조한 결과, 통상적인 소결법으로 소결체를 제조하였을 때 보다, 낮은 온도와 짧은 시간의 유지시간에서 이론 밀도의 99% 가까운 소결체 밀도를 얻을 수 있었고, 소결체의 상은 B2구조의 cubic과 2차상으로 Ti₂Ni가 존재함을 확인하였다. Mechanically-alloyed TiNi powders were densified by Spark-Plasma Sintering(SPS) method. The densififcation behavior was investigated throgh the microstructural observation, the phase analysis and the measurement of change in devsity, linear shrinkage and densification rate as a function of temperature. Sintered body with close to 99% relative density was obtained at lower sintering temperature for shorter holding time in comparison to the conventional sintering methods. TiNi with B2 structure was confirmed as the major phase and Ti₂Ni as the second phase.

      • 용액 중합에 의한 전도성 Poly(amide)/Polypyrrole 복합체의 제조와 그 전기적 성질

        Poly(amide)/Polypyrrole composite films were prepared by solution ploymerization method. The films obtained by this method exhibited high conductivities. After polymerization of pyrrole for 1 hr, composite films showed the conductivity as high as 10^-3∼10^-2 S/cm and it increased with increasing the concentration of oxidizing agent. The stability of conductivity to ambient air exposure was excellent. As the result of the thermal characterization of composite films by TGA, we found that the composite film was thermally stable.

        고정식 교정장치에 의한 균혈증의 발생가능성에 관한 연구

        The purpose of this study was to investigate a possibility of chronic or intermittent bacteremia in patients undergoing orthodontic treatment with fixed orthodontic appliance. Orthodontic patients who had been injured by orthodontic appliances and/or suffered from gingivitis were selected. They had not taken any antibiotics for 1 month. The number of subjects were 21 including 7 males and 14 females. Blood samples of the subjects were cultured and, IgG, IgA and IgM levels in the serum were quantified. The author found following results. 1. No bacterial growth was found in 7-day culture of all the samples. 2. The immunoglobulin levels in serum were confined in normal range. 3. This study could not deny the possibility of transient bacteremia episode undergoing orthodontic treatment.
