        외국산제품의 수입에만 의존하던 항로표지용 전원일체형 소형 LED 등명기(Self-powered LED Lantern)를 국내 최초로 개발하여 제작하고 시험을 통해 그 성능을 확인하였다. 이에 외국에서 생산되는 제품들의 동향과 국내 최초로 개발된 항로표지용 전원일체형 소형 LED 등명기(Self-powered LED Lantern)의 주요 특징 및 성능을 소개한다.

      • 항로표지 거점을 활용한 실시간 영상기반 해양안개 관측시스템 구축

        In the past, in observing the sea fog on the major sea route and providing real-time information for the safe operation of ships, a visibility sensor or a fog detector with similar operating principles was installed to observe local fog near the place where it was installed. However, it was somewhat unreasonable to immediately provide sea fog observation information to ships and users because the reliability of real-time observation information was somewhat low due to pollution caused by dust, salt, and pollen, or malfunctions of detection sensors by organisms such as spider webs. From 2019 to 2022, the Korea Meteorological Administration and the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries collaborated to build a more reliable real-time image-based sea fog observation system in 100 regions of the Lighthouse on major sea routes across the country to collect reliable sea fog observation information every 10 minutes and perform real-time public service(webpage). 과거에는 주요 항로 인근의 해양안개(sea fog)를 관측하고 이를 선박들의 안전 운항을 위한 실시간 정보를 제공하는 데 있어서, 작동 원리가 유사한 기상관측용 시정계(Visibility Sensor) 또는 항로표지용 안개감지기(fog detector) 등을 설치하여, 장비가 설치된 곳 인근 의 국지적인 안개를 관측하고 있었다. 하지만 먼지, 염분 및 꽃가루 등에 의한 오염이나 거미줄 같은 생물에 의한 감지 센서의 오동작이 자주 발생되어, 실시간 관측 정보의 신뢰성이 다소 낮은 상황이었기 때문에 실시간으로 해양안개 관측정보를 선박이나 이용자에게 즉각 제공하기 에는 다소 무리가 있었다. 2019년부터 2022년까지 기상청과 해양수산부 항로표지과 등이 협업을 통해, 보다 신뢰성 있는 실시간 영상기반 해 양안개관측 시스템을 전국 주요 항로에 있는 항로표지시설(Lighthouse) 100개 국소에 구축하여 신뢰성 있는 해양안개관측 정보를 매 10분마 다 수집하고, 이를 실시간으로 대국민 서비스(웹페이지)를 수행하게 되었다.

        재발성 양성 돌발성 체위성 현훈의 위험인자와 임상적 특성

        Background and Objectives Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV) is treated withappropriate canalith repositioning procedures, which are very effective for the treatment ofBPPV. Nevertheless, the recurrence of BPPV may occur after the initial successful treatment. The purpose of this study was to investigate the risk factors and clinical features of recurrentBPPV. Subjects and Method The retrospective study was performed for 227 patients who werediagnosed with BPPV and treated with appropriate canalith repositioning procedures from March2013 to December 2014. We analyzed various clinical characteristics, locations and types of canalithfor the whole BPPV patients, and the interval and frequency of recurrence in the patients ofrecurrent BPPV. Results Of the total of 227 BPPV patients, 47 patients were recurrent BPPV (21%). The patientsof recurrent BPPV were significantly older than those of non-recurrent BPPV (p=0.034). BPPV patients recurred more with increased age, with the significantly increased frequencyof recurrence (p=0.010). Twenty two patients were posterior semicircular canal canalolithiasis(PSCC) (46.8%) and 25 patients were lateral semicircular canal canalolithiasis (LSCC)(53.2%). The number of canalith repositioning procedures was significantly higher in LSCCpatients than in PSCC patients (p=0.041). The location change of affected canal were identifiedfor 23 patients and the type change of LSCC to ipsilateral PSCC was the most common. Conclusion Age is an important prognostic factor to be considered in BPPV recurrence. Also, the affected semicircular canals were frequently changed in the recurrent BPPV.

        Expanded Exit-Pupil Holographic Head-Mounted Display With High-Speed Digital Micromirror Device

        Recently, techniques involving head‐mounted displays (HMDs) have attracted much attention from academia and industry owing to the increased demand for virtual reality and augmented reality applications. Because HMDs are positioned near to users’ eyes, it is important to solve the accommodation‐vergence conflict problem to prevent dizziness. Therefore, holography is considered ideal for implementing HMDs. However, within the Nyquist region, the accommodation effect is limited by the space‐bandwidth‐product of the signal, which is determined by the sampling number of spatial light modulators. In addition, information about the angular spectrum is duplicated over the Fourier domain, and it is necessary to filter out the redundancy. The size of the exit‐pupil of the HMD is limited by the Nyquist sampling theory. We newly propose a holographic HMD with an expanded exit‐pupil over the Nyquist region by using the time‐multiplexing method, and the accommodation effect is enhanced. We realize time‐multiplexing by synchronizing a high‐speed digital micromirror device and a liquid‐crystal shutter array. We also demonstrate the accommodation effect experimentally.

        이하선 절제술시 절개방법의 비교연구

        Background and Objectives Modified Blair incision (MBI) and Modified facelift incision (MFI) are mainly used for paroidectomy. MBI can provide a wide surgical view for parotidectomy. MFI was designed for better cosmesis by hiding the incision behind the auricle and hair line. This study was performed to evaluate surgical outcomes, functional and cosmetic results after parotidectomy using MBI and MFI. Subjects and Method We retrospectively reviewed medical records of 120 patients who underwent parotidectomy from September 2005 to April 2012. Tumor characteristics, operative outcome, and cosmetic outcome according to incision method were investigated. Cosmetic satisfaction was assessed using a questionnaire 12-18 months after surgery. Results Tumor characteristics such as size, location and pathologic features did not differ between the two groups. The extent of parotidectomy, operation time, amout of drainage, and complications were also not different between the two groups. Cosmetic satisfaction was significantly supeior in the MFI group than that of the MBI group. Conclusion MFI is superior to MBI for parotidectomy for having similar surgical outcome but better esthetical success compared to MBI.

        The terahertz wave (THz wave) is a band between infrared and microwaves and is defined as an electromagnetic wave having a frequency of 0.1 to 10 THz band. THz waves have the property of transmitting nonpolar materials, which the visible light cannot be transmitted, such as ceramics, plastics, and paper; and the photon energy is low, such as several meV. For this reason, non-destructive testing equipment based on THz imaging technology can be applied to the industrial field. Recently, THz imaging technology was applied in wide industrial fields, such as automobiles, batteries, food, medical, and security, and being actively studied. In this paper, we describe the research trends of terahertz imaging technology and experimental results. Furthermore, we summarize the recent commercialized terahertz camera. Finally, we present the research results in the field of the human security scanner system.

        은행 채널 별 주 이용고객의 특성 분석

        최근 국내 은행 산업은 인터넷전문은행, 오픈뱅킹, 금융 마이데이터 등의 제도가 시행되면서 디지털을 기반으로 하는 신규 시장 참여가 확대되고 있다. 이러한 새로운 경쟁 환경에 대응하기 위해 국내외 대부분의 은행들은 기존의 대면채널(지점)을 축소하고 인터넷, 모바일과 같은 비대면 채널을 활성화하는 방안을 추진하고 있다. 지점은 은행의 핵심 채널로 지점의 축소는 타 채널 이용에도 영향을 줄 수 있음에도 불구하고, 대부분의 은행들은 이에 대한 면밀한 분석 없이 지점을 축소하는 전략을 이어가고 있다. 본 연구는 은행의 다섯 가지 채널(창구, 자동화기기, 텔레뱅킹, 인터넷뱅킹, 모바일뱅킹)별 주 이용 고객의 특성과, 각 채널의 이용에 영향을 주는 요인을 분석한다. 이를 위해, A지방은행의 고객 데이터를 활용해 ANOVA 및 다중회귀분석을 수행한다. 분석 결과, 지점 창구 거래의 주 고객은 1, 2등급의 은행의 수익성에 영향이 큰 집단이고, 특히 50대 이상의 그룹인 것으로 확인되었다. 한편, 고객의 여신, 수신, 금융상품보유개수가 늘어날수록 창구거래도 늘어나는 영향을 주는 반면, 모바일뱅킹 이용에는 여신, 수신이 감소할수록 거래량이 늘어나는 것으로 확인 되었다. This study analyzes the characteristics of customer’s preferences on banking channels (branches, automated machines, telebanking, internet banking, and mobile banking) and examines the factors influencing channel usage. To accomplish this, ANOVA and multiple regression analysis are performed using customer data from Bank A. The analysis reveals that customers primarily utilizing branch counter transactions have a significant impact on the profitability of 1st and 2nd grade banks, particularly among the age group of 50 years and above. Additionally, it is observed that as customers' loan, deposit, and financial product holdings increase, branch counter transactions also increase. On the other hand, it is found that as the usage of mobile banking decreases in terms of loans and deposits, transaction volume increases.

        Intrathyroidal Parathyroid Carcinoma in Chronic Kidney Disease: A Case Report and Review of Literature

        When parathyroid carcinoma occurs in the thyroid gland, it is very difficult to diagnose beforesurgery because imaging studies and aspiration cytology cannot distinguish parathyroid carcinomafrom thyroid nodule or benign parathyroid disease. A 53-year-old male was referred toour hospital for assessment of hypercalcemia. He had suffered from chronic kidney diseasefor 13 years. A 2.5×1.5 cm hypoechoic nodule was noted in the left thyroid gland on ultrasonography,and it showed increased uptake on the sestamibi scan. Fine needle aspiration biopsyrevealed it to be a parathyroid lesion, which was confirmed by surgery as parathyroid carcinomacompletely surrounded by normal thyroid parenchyme. Because ultrasonography and aspirationcytology have only a limited role in distinguishing parathyroid carcinoma from thyroidneoplasm, suspicion of parathyroid carcinoma before or during surgery through carefulexamination can lead to complete resection at the initial surgery.
