Capsicum chinense, 재래종 및 저항성 고추 유전자원에서 역병 저항성 계통 선발

2000년도에 검정에서 역병에 살아남은 개체들로부터 채종하여 육성한 Capsicum chinense 31계통에 대하여 역병 저항성을 검정한 결과 고도의 저항성을 나타내는 것은 발견되지 않았다. 2001년도의 검정에서 역병에 살아남은 개체로부터 채종한 재래종 26계통에 대하여 다시 역병 저항성 검정을 실시한 결과 KC180, KC230, KC195, KC194에서 다수의 개체가 살아남아 저항성을 나타내었다. 그러나 KC180과 KC230은 각각 AC2258과 CM334와 혼종된 것으로 관찰되었다. KC195와 KC194는 재래종의 형질을 유지하고 있는 것으로 관찰되었다. CM334의 보존 증식과정에 자연교잡이 일어난 것으로 보여 이의 순도향상을 위하여 채종년도별로 시료를 꺼내어 역병저항성 검정을 실시한 결과 가장 오래된 1992년도 채종종자에서부터 약간의 이형주가 관찰도기 시작하여 1995년부터 2001년도까지 시간이 경과함에 따라 많이 변형되어 있는 것을 알 수 있었다. 1992년도 종자에서 이형주를 제거하고 원형의 개체로부터 자식종자를 대량으로 채종하였다. 함께 공시한 AC2258은 순수한 것으로 확인되었다. 1995년도 채종 CM334 종자에서는 비록 혼종은 되었으나 측지발생이 적은 개체들이 발견되어 이들을 개체 선발하여 역병에 저항성이며 측지발생이 적은 계통으로 육성하고 있다. A total of 31 c. chinense lines selected from 2000 screening were tested again for resistance to P. capsici but resistance was not found in the lines. A total of 26 selections from Korean land races tested 2001 spring were tested again for resistance to P. capsici. KC180, KC230, KC195 and KC194 showed moderate resistance to P. capsici. However, it was apparent on the basis of hortivultural characteristics that KC180 and KC230 had been naturally crossed with AC2258 and CM334, respectively. CM334 and AC2248 seed lots that were increased in different years were taken out and tested for resistance to improve their genetic purity because the resistant genetic resources have been showing some off-types in the population. Off-types began to be found in 1992 seed lots and the proportion and degree of the offs was increasing with time up to 2001. Plants true to the type in 1992 seed lots were selected and their inbred seeds were mass produced in a net cage in the greenhouse. AC2258 included in the experiment number of lateral branching at cotyledonary axil, although they were off from the original in the experiment together was uniform. In 1995 seed lost of CM334, plants with resistance to P. capsici and low or no number of lateral branching at cotyledonary axil, although they were off from the original CM334, were found and selection was applied to breed lines fixed in the characters.

I ntensive usage of electronic appliances containing lithium batteries causes an accumulation of e-trash. Environmental exposure to lithium batteries contaminates ecosystems. In air and water, the batteries form lithium hydroxide (LiOH) on their surfaces. LiOH enters the aquatic environment and contaminates the aquatic ecosystem by being absorbed into biological organisms. In this study, in order to identify meaningful potential biomarkers that appear in response to lithium, we measured significantly up- and down-regulated genes after LiOH exposure by conducting a microarray. In addition, we explored the functions of differentially expressed daphnia genes, and we conducted a comparative analysis in other species, Daphnia spp. to humans, then analyzed the signaling pathways using the human gene set derived from daphnia sequences that are differentially expressed in response to LiOH using the NCBI-BLAST tool and Pathway studio. As a result, we identified signaling pathways and suggested several potential biomarkers that are up- or down-regulated in response to lithium. This study may contribute to the development of a biomonitoring system which can detect the ecotoxicity of lithium. Furthermore, lithium toxicity in humans can be predicted, so the study may also provide potential biomarkers of lithium exposure in humans.

Frog culture industry is not yet familiar but has much potential. Generally, in farm, the population density is higher than that of in nature and frog farm is not the exception. But when population density is high, it can easily leads to stressful condition, poor sanitation. When a disease occur, it is a primary factor that makes the population more susceptible and the results more grave. Because of severe Rhabditoidea- helminth infection and subsequent bacterial septicemia, 50¡70% of the total population had been died in a farm in Jeong-sun in Gangwon-do and Chungju in Chungcheongbuk-do from late June, 2012 to September, 2012. Diseased frogs showed ruptured lung, bloody ascites, liver discoloration, myocardium weakness, congested kidney, microcytic anemia and so on. Enterobacteriacea, Citrobacter.sp, Cupriavidus metallidurans, Acinetobacter.sp were isolated as major bacterium that had caused septicemia in frogs. Among isolated bacterium, Cupriavidus metallidurans, Ewingella americana, Shewanella aquimarina and Pseudoalteromonas sp. have not reported as potential pathogens in frogs before. It is a good example that severe helminth infection in frogs can lead to secondary infection of bacteria.

Jehovah's Witness comprise a unique obstetric population. Their refusal of blood stems from an interpretation of a literal translation of the Bible, and it is this belief that puts them at an increased risk of morbidity and mortality if hemorrhage occurs. We report two cases of a Jehovah's Witness who bled massively due to obstetric hemorrhage, refused blood transfusion and had profound anemia. The patients were treated with recombinant human erythropoietin, parenteral iron and oxygen. And they were treated on an intensive care unit with intermittent positive pressure ventilation. We reviewed with literature considering the therapy for acutely anemic patients who refuse transfusion to decrease the duration of the most severe anemia.

Background: This study was conducted to analyze the current problems in completing death certificates and to identify the correct method for completing death certificates Methods: We reviewed 262 death certificates in three hospitals from March 1 to April 30, 2000, and 119 death certificates in one hospital from March 1 to 31, 2000. We identified major and minor errors and analyzed and compared them retrospectively. Results: A total of 381 death certificates were reviewed: 59 in Seoul National University Hospital,101 in Ewha Woman's University Hospital, and 102 in Gachon Medical College Hospital, which has no education program for completing death certificates in postgraduate training, and 119 in Samsung Medical Center which has an education program for completing death certificates. 358 certificates(94.0%) had at least one error. There were only 23 death certificates(6.0%) without an error. In 182 cases(47.8%), there was one major error. In 321 death certificates(84.3%), there were more than two errors. A comparison of Samsung Medical Center with the other hospitals showed that the number of total errors was statistically different(p=0.001). Conclusion: There were few death certificates without an error in this study. In a hospital which has postgraduate training in completing death certificates, there are fewer errors than in other hospitals which have no training course. Emergency physicians actually certify many deaths, so they must know the correct method of completing death certificates for statistics on morbidity and mortality.

저자들은 필라델피아 염색체 양성 급성골수성백혈병 환자에서 복합항암화학요법으로 혈액학적 완전관해를 유도하고, imatinib mesylate를 이용하여 분자학적 관해를 유도한 후, 성공적으로 자가 말초혈액조혈모세포이식을 시행하였던 1예를 경험하였기에 이를 보고하는 바이다. Philadelphia chromosome (Ph¹)-positive acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is very rare disease, comprising 3~4% of the AML, and is a clinically distinct entity with poor clinical outcome with conventional chemotherapy. We report a case of Ph¹-positive AML who underwent successful autologous peripheral blood stem cell transplantation after achieving a molecular remission with imatinib mesylate.
공공도서관의 공간구성비 변화에 관한 연구 : 대구광역시 공공도서관을 중심으로 focused on the Public Library in Daegu

In line with the fast development of the modern society, the basic function of the public library has been changing to meet the present user's needs and social requests. Such multiple library organizations have been continuously and rapidly changed. This study suggests to analyze the changes in the space composition of the public library in Daegu. It explains the relationship of the multiple programs for public library and users who need new requests. The results of this study are as follows : The changes for new needs and requests are 1) to extend lecture rooms and auditorium, 2) to offer a reading room more open for public users, 3) to extend internet data and clipping data. These changes are attended with various problems.
