The purpose of this research was to investigate effect of water-soluble protein of Trichosanthes kirillowii(TKP) on the proliferation of human tumor cells. TKP inhibited the proliferation of HeLa cells and KHOS-NP cells. The inhibitory activity of doxorubicin on HeLa cells and its of mitomycin C on KHOS-NP cells were increased by the combination of TKP. TKP did not affect on the proliferation of Balb/c 3T3 cells, but inhibited the proliferation of mouse spleen cells and human lymphocyte at 1 ㎍/ml. These results suggest that TKP bas the cytotoxicity on HeLa and KHOS-NP cells, and increase the cytotoxicity of doxorubicin or mitomycin C.

북한의 암시장경제

최근 북한에서 사람들의 일반적 경제생활은 사회주의 중앙집권적 계획경제의 베일속에 감추어진 암시장경제에 의하여 유지된다. 사회주의계획경제가 가장 이상적인 경제체제이고 관리운영방식이라고 강조하던 북한 당국의 선전에 비추어볼때 현 북한의 경제현실은 국가적 결정과 의사와는 관계없이 생계를 위하여 피나게 노력해 나가는 사람들의 생존경쟁에 의해 암시장경제가 활성화 되여 가고 있는 상황이다. 이 논문에서는 북한의 중앙집권적 계획경제체제와 그 속에 가리워진 북한 주민들의 생활루투인 암시장경제에 대하여 서술하였다. The economic life of a North Korean is the product of a strange interaction between the contrived socialist economy planned by the North Korean Authority and the developing black market. Though the North Korean Authority has consistently emphasized that the state-planned economy is the ideal economic and social system, the present economic conditions of North Korea reveal some of the failings of North Korean socialism. A black market has formed and thrived in reaction to the government’s failures in function providing the only realistic source of domestic economy. The centralized planned economy of North Korea and the black market economy are discussed in this treatise.

대전대학교 지하수의 수질특성과 관리대책

The purpose of this study is to investigate the chemical quality and characteristics of groundwater in the area of Taejon university, and to suggest long-term strategy for groundwater management. The geology in the study area is mainly composed of Jurassic biotite granite and schistose granite, and phyllite and shistose phyllite of Okcheon system. All groundwater samples except one sample were classified into Ca-HCO3 type in chemical composition, and showed the hardness ranging from moderately hard to hard. The pH of groundwater showed weak acidic and neutral conditions. The results of factor analysis of hydrochemical data indicated that major chemical constituents of groundwater were derived by three main factors: the contribution of two different water-rock interaction processes and the effect of contamination. A part of groundwater samples showed a little high iron and nitrate content, which were likely to be influenced by contamination sources. The environmental assessment of groundwater hydrology and regular monitoring work should be carried out to maintain high quality and plentiful quantity of groundwater in Taejon University.

靑皮가 마우스의 免疫細胞에 미치는 影響

靑皮는 疏肝破氣 및 消積化滯하는 작용이 있는 약물로 대부분 氣滯로 인한 증상들에 사용되고 있지만 임상상 活血之劑와 配合하여 氣滯血瘀나 血瘀脇痛등에 應用되고 있다. 氣滯는 각종의 스트레스등으로 인하여 발생되어 血行을 不暢하게 하고, 심지어는 正氣까지도 손상시킨다. 正氣의 손상은 바로 免疫機能의 低下라고도 말할 수 있는데, 免疫이란 非自己로 인식된 異常細胞를 처리함으로써 個體의 恒常性을 維持하려는 현상을 말한다. 면역에 先天的 免疫과 T림프구 및 B림프구가 관여하는 特異性 免疫이 있고, 免疫作用에 관여하는 細胞로는 特異性 免疫에 관여하는 免疫細胞外에도 Macrophage, NK cell, 수지상 세포 및 랑게르한스 세포등을 들 수 있다. 뇌의 기능은 심장에서 방출되는 혈액의 공급에 의해 이루어지는데, 만약 혈액의 공급이 제대로 이루어지지 않으면 많은 질환들이 발생한다. 그 중 虛血性 腦疾患은 충분한 양의 혈액이 뇌를 공급되지 않거나 공급되고 있는 혈액내의 산소농도가 떨어져 발생하는 것으로써 임상적으로는 運動麻痺·知覺痲痺등 神經機能 消失등의 증상을 보이기 때문에 東醫學的으로는 이를 風病이라 하고, 風病은 대체적으로 陰虛나 血虛등으로도 발생할 수 있어 陰虛動風證 또는 血虛生風證등의 病證들이 있다. 그리하여 각종 氣滯로 인한 氣滯則血滯가 발생되거나 또는 正氣가 손상되어 氣虛則血虛하기 때문에 陰虛나 血虛등으로 인한 運動麻痺나 知覺麻痺가 발생한다. 이러한 이유등으로 本 硏究者들은 혈류장애 질환치료에 사용되는 韓藥材中 靑皮의 작용을 규명하는 硏究의 일환으로 靑皮가 면역기능에 어떠한 영향을 미치는가에 대하여 알아보기 위하여 동결건조된 靑皮를 마우스에 1일 1회씩 7일간 투여한 후 T-lymphcyte의 Apoptosis와 sub-population, 그리고 proliferation 및 Peritoneal macrophage의 nitric oxide 생성과 phagocytic activity를 관찰한 결과 DNA fragmentation과 sub-population에는 별다른 영향을 주지 않았지만 proliferation에 있어서는 증식이 촉진되었고, 복강 macrophage의 nitric oxide 생성과 phagocytic activity에 있어서는 NO는 감소하였으나 phagocytic activity는 현저히 증가하였다. 이는 靑皮가 NO 생성을 억제하여 phagocytic activity를 증가시킨 결과라 思料된다. 이상과 같은 實驗結果들을 통해서 볼 때 靑皮는 臨床的으로 각종 氣滯로 인한 正氣損傷과 血液循環障碍가 동시에 나타날 때에만 正氣를 보충해주는 役割을 할 수 있을 것으로 사료된다. The purpose of this research was to investigate effects of Citri Reticulatae Viride Pericarpium water extract(CRVP) on immunocytes in mice. The administration of CRVP did not affect apoptosis and sub-population of mouse T-lymphocytes, but increased the proliferation of T-lymphocytes. CRVP decreased nitric oxide production from mouse peritoneal macrophage, but increased a phagocytic activity of macrophages. These results suggest that CRVP does not affect T cell mediated immunity, but increases the phagocytic activity of peritoneal macrophages.

광주지방 부유분진의 농도변화

This study analyzes the diurnal, seasonal and annual variations of TSP in Kwangju and investigates the relation of TSP to air temperature and to RH. The data used in this study are observed from Meteorological Office and Environmental Bureau in Kwangju and the period of observation was from Jan. 1, 1991 to Dec. 31, 1993. The diurnal variation of TSP shows two vibration curves and the diurnal means are 67.9㎍/㎥. The time the diurnal maximum value is shown is 10:00 A.M. and that diurnal minimum value is shown is 06:00 A.M. The diurnal range is 55.9㎍/㎥. In this diurnal variation of TSP by season, the concentration is high in winter, spring, autumn and summer in order. The annual variation of TSP shows one vibration curve, the maximum value in April and the minimum one in August. The annual range is 43.6㎍/㎥. As a result of the regression analysis for examining the relations of TSP to air temperature and to RH, a regular polynomial regression expression is made on time series. TSP has a great significance in the diurnal variation with air temperature, but it has a little significance in the annual variation. TSP and RH have a significance in the diurnal and annual variation and show the inverse propertion with them.

만성 강박장애 환자의 정서처리 특성 : 정신분열병 환자 및 정상인과의 비교

Objectives : Obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) tends to take chronic course as schizophrenia. Researchers reported that OC patients had idiosyncratic sensitivity to threat-related information, while schizophrenic patients were reported to have affec-tive blunting. We hypothesized that there might be a difference in emotional response between OCD and SPR in cronic phase. Methods : Eight different emotional tasks were done by 25 healthy controls, 21 OCD patients and 25 SPR patients. Visual stimuli were made by pairing two words or pictures. Four kinds of emotional stimuli (positive, negative, combined and neutral)were presented to subjects through monitor and they were asked to report their subjective feelings by pushing mouse button, In the combined condition, a pair of positive words (or pictures) and negative words (or pictures) were presented simultaneously. The responses and response time were recorded and analyzed using SPSS 9.0 package. Results : In the negative condition, OCD group didn't show any deficit compared to healthy group. But SPR group showed significantly lower appropriate response rate than healthy group, In the combined condition, OCD and healthy control group Showed 'negativity bias' which SPR group didn't show. In the positive condition, however, OCD and SPR groups did show Significantly lower appropriate response rate than healthy controls. Conclusion : Our results suggested that OCD patients may not have deficits in the processing of negative emotion even in the chronic phase but to have a specific deficit in positive emotion. This result supports the 'threat-relatedness hypothesis' on attentional bias of OCD.

알지네이트 비드를 이용한 메틸 오렌지의 봉입 및 방출에 미치는 키토산의 영향

In this study, methyl orange-loaded alginate beads were prepared and compared to investigate the effect of chitosan on the encapsulation and release of hydrophilic methyl orange in alginate beads. Particle size and encapsulation efficiency of alginated beads were determined. Swelling ratio and disintegration of al-ginate beads were investigated in gastrointestinal environment. Particle size of beads was 1.1-1.5 mm and shape was spherical. Weight of beads was increased depending on the content of chitosan. Content of chitosan affected on the encapsulation of methyl orange. Encapsulation of methyl orange in alginate beads without chitosan was 15%, while encapsulation efficiency was increased with addition of chitosan. Beads were not disintegrated in HCl solution (pH 1.2) within 4 h, with floating and swelling. Swelling ratio of beads was in-creased to 222%. Release of methyl orange from alginate beads without chitosan was up to 70% within 2 h in HCl solution (pH 1.2). When chitosan was added to the alginate beads, release of methyl range from beads was significantly reduced. It is supposed that release of methyl orange from beads is resulted from diffusion and erosion of beads, which is pH-dependent. In condusion, chitosan-alginate beads have potentials to control release of small hydrophilic drugs by the addition of chitosan.

Widespread use of BCG has not controlled tuberculosis, and more effective vaccines are clearly needed. Although chemotherapy will remain the mainstay of antituberculosis treatment, the use of adjunctive immunotherapeutic modalitites is attractive, particularly in persons with drug-resistant tuberculosis. Administration of IL-2 or IFN-γto tuberculosis patients enhance bacillary elimination. Cell-mediated immunity is the critical protective immune response in tuberculosis. Mycobacterial antigens are recognized by T cells and that elicit production of protective cytokines are potentially important vaccine antigens. The 30 kDa antigen is secreted in large quantities by growing mycobacteria. That antigen elicits greater proliferation in lymphocytes from healthy tuberculin reactors than healthy tuberculin nonreactors. In this study, the T lymphocyte proliferative responses to 30 kDa antigen from Mycobactrium tuberculosis H37Rv were examined by using tonsilar and peripheral blood lymphocytes from PPD(+) and PPD(-) tonsilectomized persons. When cultured with 30 kD antigen, tonsilar mononuclear leukocytes and T cells of PPD(+) demonstrated more ^3H-thymidine incorporation than PPD(-) persons (stimulation index was 2.5 and 1.9, 0.8 and 1.0, repectively). Peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) and peripheral blood T lymphocytes were shown the similar responses to this antigen. The combination of IL-2 and 30 kDa antigen elicited a significant proliferative responsiveness in tonsilar mononuclear leukocytes and T cells of PPD(+) persons (SI was 20 and 14.1). PBMC and peripheral blood T cells of PPD(+) persons were also shown a significant responsiveness, but PPD(-) persons did not show. These results demonstrate that the 30 kDa antigen and IL-2 have a synergistic stimulatory property in mycobacteria sensitizing lymphocytes.
