        Bus-Based Content Offloading for Vehicular Networks

        Vehicular ad hoc networks (VANETs) represent the promising technologies for comfort driving and infotainment applications which rely heavily on the content offloading. Due to the rapid change of network topology and intermittent connection, it is a big challenge to satisfy the content requests from multi-sedans at the same time. This paper proposes a bus-based content offloading (BBCO) algorithm which aims to maximize the volume of offloaded content from bus to sedans while the offloading opportunity fairness of each sedan is also taken into consideration. By predicting the number of buses which the sedan would encounter in its future path and estimating the transmission rate, the BBCO algorithm schedules the content offloading service for sedans slot by slot to maximize the offloaded content volume and guarantee the offloading opportunity fairness. The effectiveness of the proposed algorithm is evaluated by extensive simulations.

        Evaluation of Antioxidant Activities and Active Compounds Separated from Water Soluble Extracts of Korean Black Pine Barks

        Black pine barks from the southern region of Korea were extracted using pressurized hot water and the water soluble extracts were then separated in a stepwise fashion using a variety of solvents, column chromatography (CC), thin layer chromatography (TLC), and high pressure liquid chromatography (HPLC). The antioxidant activities of each fraction and the active compounds were determined based on the radical scavenging activities of 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH), reductive potential of ferric ion, and total phenol contents. A DPPH test showed that the half maximal effective concentration ($EC_{50}$ value : $6.59{\pm}0.31\;{\mu}g/mL$) of the ethyl acetate fraction (ca. 0.67%) was almost the same as that of the control compounds and inversely proportional to the value of the total phenol contents. The cell viability of the water extracts was confirmed by methyl thiazol-2-yl-2,5-diphenyl tetrazolium bromide (MTT) with enzyme linked immune sorbent assay (ELISA). Catechin, epicatechin, quercetin and ferulic acid were isolated from the ethyl acetate fraction as active compounds and identified by nuclear magnetic resonance. The antioxidant activity as value of DPPH of each of the separated compounds was lower than the ethyl acetate fraction, and ferulic acid was the lowest among these compounds.

        Electron-Electron Interactions in a Two-Dimensional Electron Systemin an Al0.15Ga0.85N/GaN Heterostructure Grown on p-Type Si

        We report on experimental studies of an Al$_{0.15}$Ga$_{0.85}$N/GaN high-electron-mobility transistor structure grown on a $p$-type Si (111) substrate. This structure is compatible with complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor (CMOS) technology and, thus, has great potential device applications. The low-temperature magnetoresistivity shows a parabolic dependence on the applied perpendicular magnetic field. This effect is ascribed to electron-electron interaction (EEI) effects in a weakly-disordered two-dimensional system. Our experimental results agree with the EEI theory when the correction term in the ballistic region has been subtracted.

      • 다변량 기온확률모형을 이용한 날씨보험의 가격결정 및 리스크 평가에 대한 연구

        날씨위험은 기온, 강수량, 바람 등의 일상적 날씨 변수의 변동에 의한 기업이나 개인의 재무적 손실 위험을 의미한다. 해외의 경우 날씨 변화 리스크에 대한 인식이 높아지면서 날씨 리스크를 관리하기 위한 날씨파생상품, 날씨보험 등의 상품들이 개발되었다. 국내에도 날씨보험 상품이 도입되었지만 과도한 보험료 등의 이유로 시장이 활성화되지 못하고 있는 실정이다. 보험료 결정 모형의 타당성이 낮은 것이 과도한 보험료의 주요 원인이라 할 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 여름철 이상저온 현상을 담보하는 날씨보험에 대해 보다 합리적인 보험료 산출 방안을 제시하고 있다. 먼저, 기후온난화 추세와 지역간 기온의 상관관계를 반영한 다변량 기온확률모형을 제시하여 기존의 접근방법을 개선하고자 하였다. 또한 제시된 모형에 기반한 몬테카를로 시뮬레이션을 통해, 날씨보험의 가격을 결정하고 날씨보험 지역 포트폴리오에 대한 통합적 리스크를 평가하였다. Weather risk refers to uncertainty of financial losses caused by change of weather variables. Global market for the management of weather risk expanded significantly and financial instruments such as weather derivatives and weather insurance are being traded. Recently, a weather insurance product was introduced to Korean market also but its trading volume was very limited. One of main reasons of limited market size in Korea is unreasonably excessive premium level. In this paper a multivariate temperature model is suggested to improve adequacy of pricing model for weather insurance. Suggested model reflects correlations among different geographical areas and increasing trend in temperature. Results of pricing and evaluation of risk are provided using Monte Carlo simulation based on the suggested model

        Characterization of the Methylation Status of Pax7 and Myogenic Regulator Factors in Cell Myogenic Differentiation

        Epigenetic processes in the development of skeletal muscle have been appreciated for over a decade. DNA methylation is a major epigenetic modification important for regulating gene expression and suppressing spurious transcription. Up to now, the importance of epigenetic marks in the regulation of Pax7 and myogenic regulatory factors (MRFs) expression is far less explored. In the present study, semi-quantitative the real-time polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) analyses showed MyoD and Myf5 were expressed in activated and quiescent C2C12 cells. MyoG was expressed in a later stage of myogenesis. Pax7 was weakly expressed in differentiated C2C12 cells. To further understand the regulation of expression of these genes, the DNA methylation status of Pax7, MyoD, and Myf5 was determined by bisulfite sequencing PCR. During the C2C12 myoblasts fusion process, the changes of promoter and exon 1 methylation of Pax7, MyoD, and Myf5 genes were observed. In addition, an inverse relationship of low methylation and high expression was found. These results suggest that DNA methylation may be an important mechanism regulating Pax7 and MRFs transcription in cell myogenic differentiation.

        조선시대 한·중 복식문양에 대한 조형적 연구 -길상 문자 문양을 중심으로-

        전통 문양은 한국과 중국의 중요한 문화 자원 중 하나로 양국의 문화 전승과 각자 민족 정체성을 구축하는 과정에서 핵심적인 역할을 해왔다. 즉 기능적, 상징적 및 미적인 측면에서 문양은 한·중의 전통 문화에 큰 영향을 미치고 있다. 이러한 전통 문양 중에서도 글자와 디자인이 결합된 '길상 문자 문양'은 한자 문화권인 한국과 중국에서 특별한 의미를 지닌다. 그러나 전통 문양의 조형 등에 대한 이해의 부족으로 인해 대중들은 자국의 전통 문양을 구별하지 못하거나 전통 문양을 문화 상품을 개발하는데 효과적으로 활용하지 못하고 있다. 본 연구의 목적은 한·중 두 나라의 길상 문자 문양의 조형적 특성을 분석하고 연구하여 양국의 길상 문자 문양의 조형적 차이를 도출하고 양국의 전통 문화에 대한 인식을 높이고자 한다. 이를 위해 가장 먼저 문헌 연구를 활용하여 복식 속 길상 문자 문양에 대한 이론적인 고찰을 진행한다. 이후 한국과 중국의 길상 문자 문양에 대해 조사하여 길상 문자 문양자체, 길상 문자 문양 와 조합문양의 관계, 길상 문자 문양 와 전체 복식의 관계 등의 세 가지 차원에서 어떤 특성이 있으며 각 나라의 문화에서 어떤 미적 취향이 반영되었는지를 연구한다. 마지막으로, 조선 시대 한국과 중국에서 가장 대표적인 사례를 선정하여 종합적으로 비교 분석하였으며 이를 통해 두 나라의 대표적인 길상 문자 문양의 공통점 및 차이점을 도출한다. 연구결과에서는 조선 시대 한국과 중국의 길상 문자 문양의 방향성, 조합 문양관계, 배색 등의 측면에서의 차이와 특성이 있다는 결론을 내린다. 이는 한·중 두 나라의 전통 문화 이해와 개발을 이끌고 두 나라의 전통 문화 교류를 촉진하는 데 긍정적인 의미가 있을 뿐만 아니라 두 나라의 관련 문화 상품 개발에도 참고할 가치가 있다. Traditional patterns are one of the important cultural resources of both Korea and China, and have played a key role in the cultural transmission of both countries and in the construction of their respective national identities. From a functional, symbolic, and aesthetic point of view, patterns have a great influence on the traditional culture of Han Chinese. Among these traditional patterns, auspicious character patterns, which combine letters and designs, have special significance in the Chinese character cultures of Korea and China. However, due to the lack of understanding of the formulation of traditional patterns, the public is unable to distinguish between their own traditional patterns or effectively utilize them to develop cultural products. The purpose of this study is to analyze and study the formative characteristics of the auspicious glyphs of the two countries, in order to draw out the formative differences between the auspicious glyphs of the two countries and to raise awareness of the traditional culture of the two countries. To this end, a theoretical review of auspicious character patterns in doubles is first conducted by utilizing the literature review. Then, we investigate the auspicious character patterns in Korea and China to study their characteristics and aesthetic preferences in each country's culture from three dimensions: the auspicious character pattern itself, the relationship between the auspicious character pattern and the combination pattern, and the relationship between the auspicious character pattern and the overall dress. Finally, the most representative examples from Korea and China during the Joseon Dynasty are selected and comprehensively compared and analyzed, and the similarities and differences between the two countries' representative auspicious symbols are drawn. The results of the study conclude that there are differences and characteristics in terms of the orientation of auspicious characters in Korean and Chinese auspicious characters during the Joseon Dynasty, the relationship of combination characters, and the color scheme. This has positive implications for guiding the understanding and development of traditional cultures of the two countries and promoting the exchange of traditional cultures between the two countries, as well as for the development of related cultural products of the two countries.

        Study on a Novel Thermal Error Compensation System for High-Precision Ball Screw Feed Drive (2nd Report: Experimental Verification)

        Real-time thermal error compensation of machine tool feed drive in general can be separated into three steps such as modeling, measurement and compensation. In the previous report, as the parts of the thermal error compensation system, component heat generation, compensation method, thermal model, mathematic model and calculation method were studied respectively. And a series of simulations was carried out in several kinds of working condition. And then, in order to discuss the correctness of the developed ball screw thermal error compensation system, a series of tests contains axial deformation, positioning accuracy, temperature variation and temperature distribution was carried out in the same working condition of prediction. As the results, the test data well confirmed the correctness of the developed ball screw thermal error compensation system.
