A Multi-Center Educational Research Regarding Breastfeeding for Pediatrics Residents in Korea

Purpose: Pediatricians have a significant responsibility to educate mothers about the importance of breastfeeding. However, there have been minimal efforts in the courses of resident training in Korea. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the change in knowledge and attitude before and after a 4-week breastfeeding educational intervention among multicenter residents. Methods: Prospective interventional educational research was designed for residents at eight training hospitals in Korea. Institutional reviews were obtained in each hospital. The education curriculum consisted of 14 courses regarding breastfeeding theory and practice. These materials were used to teach pediatric residents for 4 weeks. Knowledge-based tests were administered before the course, and re-tests were administered after the course using different test items of similar levels. Test scores and survey responses were compared before and after the intervention. Results: A total of 73 residents (1st year 20, 2nd year 23, 3rd year 16, and 4th year residents 14) from eight training hospitals completed the intervention. Their average age was 30.3±2.9 years, 17 (23.3%) were male, 22 (30.1%) were married, and eight had more than one child of their own. The mean pre-test score was 61.8±13.4 and the mean post-test score was 78.3±7.5 (P<0.001). The inter-grade difference in the score was significant in the pre-test (P=0.005), but not significant in the post-test (P=0.155). There were more responses of obtaining confidence after the intervention (P<0.001). Conclusion: In our study, pediatric residents showed improvement in their knowledge and confidence level after 4 weeks of the breastfeeding curriculum. 본 연구에서는 충북 남부 3개군 지역(옥천 · 보은 · 영동)의 중소 제조기업의 경영실태 및 애로기술을 대상으로 실증조사 되었다.·지역의 특정상황의 전제하에 지방 중소기업들의 실질적인 문제점들을 발견하고, 그 개선 방안을 탐색함은 물론 산 · 학 · 연 컨소시엄 사업의 성공적인 수행을 위해 시도되었다.세부적으로는 중소 제조기업의 경영 및 애로기술 특성을 일반적 사항, 경영애로요인, 경영전략, 현장개선기법, 정보화, 제품 및 공정 기술상의 애로기술 현황파악의 6개 영역으로 조사되었다. 조사결과들은 추후 산 · 학 · 연 공동기술개발 사업에 있어 창의적, 틈새적 과제발굴 및 신제품 기술개발의 토대마련이 될 뿐 아니라, 지역경제 발전을 위한 산 · 학 관의 지원 전략 수립에 적극 활용 될 것으로 판단된다.

The crystal structure of silicon has been determined by X-ray powder diffraction study (Cu Kα radiation). The unit cell is cubic (diamond-type), F(2/d)3, with a=5.42 A˚, V=159.22 A˚^3, z=8, D_c=2.34gr/㎤. The structure was solved by graphical method using eleven powder diffraction data. The experimental and theoretical integrated intensities of the reflecting planes are in good agreement with each other. The silicon atoms have tetrahedral arrangement to form covalent bonds with four other atoms. The nearest interatomic distance is 2.34Å.
포유동물 배양세포에서 나타나는 일본뇌염바이러스 만성감염의 분자생물학적 기전

During undiluted serial passages of Japanese encephalitis virus (JEV) strains Nakayama and K94P05 in mammalian cultured cells, we were able to establish persistent infections both in Vero and BHK-21 cells. Subgenomic-sized defective interfering (DI) RNA, most possibly derived from standard viral genome, was observed by Northern hybridization. The size of the DI RNA was estimated about 3 kb smaller than that of standard JEV and the timing of the DI RNA emergence appeared preceding 1 - 2 weeks of the establishment of viral persistence. Persistently infected and cloned Vero or BHK-21 cells were strongly resistant against homotypic superinfection of JEV but both with reduced cell growth rate. We performed plaque cloning of the viruses released from the persistently infected Vero and sequence analysis of the 3' noncoding region (NCR). Plaque sizes and infectious titer of the cloned viruses were significantly reduced ranging 0.5 - 2.5 mm in diameter and averaged 10^3 pfu/ml, respectively. Sequence analysis revealed that a spectrum of diverse mutations was mainly localized within a specific region encompassing 3' end of the NS5 protein ORF and about 70 nucleotides at the veginning of the 3' NCR. Bath direct identification of the DI in conjunction with the flavivirus persistence and the localization of the specific sequence within 3' NCR as another modifiable targer for the control of virus replication efficiency of virulence are of great significance for the elucidation of the molecular mechanism of flavivirus persistent infection in mammalian and for the designing genetically engineered live-attenuated vaccine for Japanese encephalitis as well.
