    This study tried to suggest a model to explain relation of adolescent children and determinants of mother’s parenting. To do this, the author examined mother’s parenting stress, mother’s parenting skills competencies, mother’s adaptive and cognitive coping, parenting alliance, mother’s rejection/restriction parenting behavior, and various paths which can be appeared in the development of problem behavior of adolescent children based on theory and model of Abidin. And the study compared mother’s variables and problem behavior variables of delinquent juvenile group with ones of general juvenile group so that the author identified influence and path of each factor by group. Accordingly, study questions were set as follows.

    1. Through what paths mother’s parenting stress, parenting alliance, mother’s parenting skills competencies, mother’s adaptive and cognitive coping, and mother’s rejection/restriction parenting behavior affect internalized problem behavior and externalized problem behavior of adolescent children?
    2. Is study model identical in general juvenile group and delinquent juvenile group?
    The subjects of the study were delinquent juvenile group and general juvenile group. Delinquent juvenile group was 172 couples composed of adolescents and their mothers_ the adolescents were staying in four Juvenile Protection Educational Institutions(former juvenile detention center), 7 probation offices and 9 Centers for Juvenile Delinquency Prevention under Ministry of Justice, or implementing education order in the places. General juvenile group was 138 couples composed of adolescents without criminal record and their mothers_ the adolescents were students who were going to one middle school in Seoul, two middle schools and one high school in Chungcheongbukdo, one middle school and one high school in Jeollabukdo.
    A test tool for parenting stress used in the study was Parenting Stress Index: PSI/SF of Abidin(1990) adapted by Seo Hea-yeong(1992). For test of parenting alliance, Parenting Alliance Inventory: PAI developed by Abidin(1988) was adapted under consultation of English adaptation expert and psychological counselling professor. A test tool for parenting skills competencies used in the study was Parenting Sense of Competence: PSOC of Giband-Wallston and Wandersman(1978) which was adapted and revised by Shin Sook-jae(1997) and used by Seo Hea-yeong(1992). For adaptive and cognitive coping, Cognitive Emotion Regulation Questionnaire: CERQ was used, which was developed by Garnefski et al(2001) and adapted by Kim So-hee(2004). For rejection/restriction parenting behavior, ‘parenting behavior scale for children’ developed by Park Yeong-ae(1995) was revised to 30 items in total from 80 items on the scale by Kim Moon-jeong(2003) and revised by Choi Eun-ji(2011) to parents respondent type. For adolescents problem behavior, Korean Youth Self-Report: K-YSR was used _ Child Behavior Check list; CBCL developed by Achenbach and Edelbrock(1983) was manufactured to Youth Self-Report: YSR by Achenbach(1991). And this was translated and standardized to Korean Youth Self-Report: K-YSR by Oh Gyeong-ja et al(1997b).
    The study results are as follows.
    First, Mother’s parenting stress affected children’s externalized problem behavior through parenting alliance, adaptive and cognitive coping, and mother’s rejection/restriction parenting behavior. On the other hand, variables related to mother’s parenting did not affect children’s internalized problem behavior.
    Second, Based on comparison of influences according to mother’s variable between general juvenile group and delinquent juvenile group, it was appeared that for general juvenile group, mother’s parenting stress, parenting alliance, and mother’s rejection/restriction parenting behavior among variables related to mother’s parenting affected children’s externalized problem behavior and children’s internalized problem behavior. But for delinquent juvenile group, nothing among determinants of mother’s parenting affected children’s externalized problem behavior and children’s internalized problem behavior.
    This study explored a model of Abidin(1989, 1992) with adolescent children and their parents_ the model of Abidin was studied with the main subjects of parents of infants and disabled children. And the study identified path of problem behavior according to mother’s variable between general juvenile group and delinquent juvenile group. This study would be helpful for adolescent children, specifically, prevention and response of juvenile problem behavior of general juvenile and delinquent juvenile. And it is also expected that this would be used meaningfully in parental education program etc.

    본 연구에서는 Abidin의 이론과 모형을 기반으로 어머니의 양육 스트레스, 어머니의 양육 효능감, 어머니의 적응적 인지적 대처, 부부양육협력, 어머니의 거부·제재 양육행동과 청소년기 자녀의 문제행동의 발달상에서 나타날 수 있는 다양한 경로들을 살펴봄으로써 청소년기 자녀와 어머니의 양육행동 결정요인과의 관계를 설명할 수 있는 모델을 제시하고자 하였다. 또한, 비행청소년집단과 일반청소년집단의 어머니의 변인들과 자녀의 문제행동 변인을 비교하여, 집단별 각 요인의 영향과 경로를 확인하였다. 이에 아래와 같이 연구문제를 설정하였다.

    본 논문의 연구대상은 비행청소년집단과 일반청소년집단으로, 비행청소년집단은 소년보호교육기관(구 소년원) 4곳, 법무부 산하 보호관찰소 7개소와 청소년비행예방센터 9곳에서 수용 중이거나 교육 명령 이행 중인 청소년과 그들의 어머니 172쌍을 대상으로 하였다. 그리고 일반청소년집단은 범죄경력이 없는 청소년으로 서울 지역 중학교 1개교, 충청북도 지역 중학교 2개교와 고등학교 1개교, 전라북도 지역 중학교 1개교와 고등학교 1개교에 재학 중인 청소년과 그들의 어머니 138쌍을 대상으로 하였다.

    본 연구를 통해 나타난 결과는 다음과 같다.
    첫째, 어머니의 양육 스트레스는 부부양육협력과 적응적 인지적 대처 그리고 어머니의 거부, 제재 양육행동을 통하여 자녀의 외현화 문제행동에 영향을 주었다. 반면, 어머니의 양육관련 변인들은 자녀의 내면화 문제행동에 영향을 미치지 않는 것으로 나타났다
    둘째, 일반청소년집단과 비행청소년집단의 어머니의 변인에 따른 영향력을 비교해 본 결과, 일반청소년집단의 경우, 자녀의 외현화 문제행동과 내면화 문제행동에 어머니의 양육관련 변인 중 어머니의 양육 스트레스와 부부양육협력 그리고 어머니의 거부, 제재 양육행동이 영향을 주는 것으로 나타났다. 이에 비하여 비행청소년집단의 경우, 어머니의 양육행동 결정요인 중 어떠한 것도 자녀의 외현화 문제행동과 내면화 문제행동에 영향을 주지 않는 것으로 나타났다.
    본 연구에서는 영·유아 및 장애아의 부모를 주요 대상으로 연구되었던 Abidin(1989, 1992)의 모델을 청소년기 자녀와 그들의 어머니를 대상으로 탐색해 보았다. 또한, 일반청소년집단과 비행청소년집단 간, 어머니의 변인에 따른 문제행동의 경로를 확인하였다. 이러한 연구 결과는 청소년기 자녀와 세부적으로 일반청소년 및 비행청소년의 청소년 문제행동 예방 및 대처 방법에 도움이 될 것이며, 부모교육 프로그램 등에서도 의미 있게 활용될 것으로 기대된다.

    둘째, 일반청소년집단과 비행청소년집단의 어머니의 변인에 따른 영향력을 비교해 본 결과, 일반청소년집단의 경우, 자녀의 외현화 문제행동과 내면화 문제행동에 어머니의 양육관련 변인 중 어머니의 양육 스트레스와 부부양육협력 그리고 어머니의 거부, 제재 양육행동이 영향을 주는 것으로 나타났다. 이에 비하여 비행청소년집단의 경우, 어머니의 양육행동 결정요인 중 어떠한 것도 자녀의 외현화 문제행동과 내면화 문제행동에 영향을 주지 않는 것으로 나타났다.
    본 연구에서는 영·유아 및 장애아의 부모를 주요 대상으로 연구되었던 Abidin(1989, 1992)의 모델을 청소년기 자녀와 그들의 어머니를 대상으로 탐색해 보았다. 또한, 일반청소년집단과 비행청소년집단 간, 어머니의 변인에 따른 문제행동의 경로를 확인하였다. 이러한 연구 결과는 청소년기 자녀와 세부적으로 일반청소년 및 비행청소년의 청소년 문제행동 예방 및 대처 방법에 도움이 될 것이며, 부모교육 프로그램 등에서도 의미 있게 활용될 것으로 기대된다.
