The purpose of this study was to investigate the changes in music teaching of kindergarten teacher showing in mentoring process and search the educational meaning in the changes in music teaching of kindergarten teacher showing in mentoring process. The participants in this was a kindergarten teacher in charge of a five-year-old kindergarten classroom. The research was conducted over a 6-month period. The research employed an action research to answer the research question. The data were collected mainly by participant observations, teacher interviews, video resources, Journal writing, and e-mail and so one. The results are as follows.
    1. How are the changes in music teaching of kindergarten showing in mentoring process?
Commencing from ‘meeting and making relation’ with the mentoring researcher, the teacher showed change in music teaching through process of ‘sharing goal and establishing rapport through experience in music’, ‘making effort to overcome mental burden’, ‘developing in the trust’, ‘growing through separation’ and ‘farewell and redefinition of relation’.
First, in the stage of meeting and making relation, the teacher was not instructed and advised on the music education in the kindergarten atmosphere where curriculum is operated mainly on the basis of visible result. Thus, he felt difficulty in the special area of music. In this period, the researcher tried to form intimate relation by sharing expectation and anxiety on mentoring with the teacher.
Second, in the stage where goal is shared and rapport is established through experience in music, the teacher found problems in teaching music and established goal for change by watching his music teaching and children involved in music. In this period, the teacher could recognize the musical concept corresponding to knowledge in music teaching through activity and experience in music provided by researcher. Further, teacher experienced diverse types of music activity other than singing song and appreciating music through many teaching methods of music.
Third, in the stage to try to overcome mental burden, teacher planned and practiced class with researcher and reduced trial and error as he as an experienced teacher was mentally pressurized and lost confidence in the process of alteration. Teacher gradually applied the newly learned concept in music from singing activity which was relatively familiar to him. Planning class and constructing understanding on musical concept with mentor, the teacher extended the repertory of music. Further, interested in new area of musical activity such as creating music, the teacher tried to be familiar with such area.
Fourth, in the stage of developing in trust, teacher tried to plan activity spontaneously, getting out of the method in which he planned activity with researcher. By recognizing musical concept and applying it to musical activity, teacher could emphasize musical goal, changing from the method by which goal was only to deliver life theme. As the teacher tried unfamiliar musical activity such as creating music, musical activity became more diversified than before. Especially, as he got accustomed to newness, he tried diverse teaching methods in accordance with the situation of his classroom. Then, researcher encouraged him to try new attempt, provided repetitiously musical experience and activity for the part in which he suffered difficulty and supported him by partially participating in his class.
Fifth, in the stage to grow through separation, teacher extended teaching ability from applying the contents learned in mentoring to wholly applying diverse areas of musical activity. Furthermore, teacher became interested in music as he listened to music though he did not in the past. Getting out of musical environment mainly composed of large group, he positively changed musical environment. Besides, the teacher found musical activity in which he was confident by applying the contents learned through mentoring and showed intention for growth by finding task that should be solved constantly. Supporting the change of teacher, the researcher of mentoring advised teacher to be interested constantly. When teacher found his weak point, researcher pondered over the matter with him and sought method to support.
Sixth, in the stage of farewell and redefinition of relation, teacher positively viewed the change in recognition and teaching method for musical education, looking back the contents of mentoring. After mentoring, research and teacher continued friendship as colleagues sharing same concern. Through intermittent meeting, researcher supported by solving the questions of teacher.
    2. What is the educational meaning of the change in music teaching of kindergarten showing in mentoring process?
The educational meaning of the change in music teaching of kindergarten teacher shown in the process of mentoring is exposed in the form of establishing efficiency as a teacher, re-conceptualization of recognition of teacher on the children and joint growth of teacher and mentor.
First, the establishment of efficiency as a teacher; experience of teacher in mentoring resulted in change in music teaching and affected the overall operation of curriculum, thereby making the teacher confident. Further, the teacher presented the possibility of colleague scholarship culture as he partially played role of mentor in experience to share what he experienced in mentoring with colleague. The experience of teacher in mentoring enabled to him to establish efficiency as he was given the opportunity to newly refresh consciousness of occupation by getting out of the depression derived from monotonous teaching life.
Second, re-conceptualization of recognition of teacher on the children; as the teacher recognized childrens' musical potential, he could interact with them significantly. When teacher was hesitant without confidence in the change that he tried, he could make the intention to change music teaching thanks to the children who encouraged the teacher with his trial and positively responded.
Third, joint growth of teacher and mentor; though participating in mentoring with the expectation to actually change teaching, the teacher thought that it was difficult to change the method which has been implemented in the long career. Then, the teacher could grow and develop by overcoming difficulty with mentor. Experiencing music through the quest with mentor, the teacher could change knowledge, technology and attitude in music education.
To change music teaching of kindergarten teacher through the result of this research, mentoring method providing special support and emotional support by selecting education contents and method in consideration of individual requirement of the teacher would be effective.
