Background: Radiation therapy in palliative cancer management leads mainly to nausea, vomiting, dyspepsia and anorexia. Several agents have been used to treat above symptoms and sings. We assessed the usefulness of continuous intravenous infusion of low-dose droperidol, compared to granisetron for the control of gastrointestinal symptoms due to radiation therapy. Method: We devided 30 patients who developed gastrointestinal symptoms after undergoing palliative radiation therapy due to metastatic bone pain in two groups. In group G(n=15), the patients were injected granisetron(3㎎) and then injected it, 3㎎ per day. In group D(n=15), the patients were injected low-dose droperidol(0.25㎎) and then infused continuously at low-dose(1㎎/day) by the disposable continuous infusion pump. Result: There were no significant differences in the patient's satisfaction, improvement of appetite and incidences of side effects between two groups. Conclusion: The continuous intravenous infusion of low-dose droperidol can substitute for serotonin-receptor antagonist for the treatment of gastrointestinal symptoms during radiation therapy for cancer patients.

The use of POCUS can improve patient care by providing real-time clinical information. However, appropriate usage and proper training are crucial to ensure patient safety and reliability. This article discusses the various applications of POCUS in emergency and critical care medicine, the importance of training and education, and the future of POCUS in medicine.

최근 가로등에 의한 감전사가 사회적 관심을 끌고 있다. 가로등은 감전사고의 위험성이 높은 도로 시설물로 철저한 감전사고 예방대책이 요구되지만 누전 차단기에 의존하는 기존의 대책으로는 사고예방에 한계가 있다. 본 연구에서는 기존의 중성점 접지 방식을 개선하고자 가로등 전용 변압기를 설치하여 침수 우려 시 중성점 접지를 개방하고 순간적인 접지스위칭을 실시함으로써 접지시스템과 비접지시스템의 장점을 모두 유지할 수 있게 함으로써 원활한 시스템운전을 보장하면서도 감전사고를 획기적으로 줄일 수 있는 방안을 제시하였다.
The First Case of Monkeypox in the Republic of Korea

A rapid outbreak of monkeypox is ongoing in non-endemic countries since May 2022. We report the first case of monkeypox in the Republic of Korea. This occurred in a 34-year-old male patient who traveled to Europe in June 2022. On the day of his return to the Republic of Korea (June 21, 2022), the patient presented with a genital lesion. The results of the monkeypox real-time polymerase chain reaction tests were positive in the penile ulcer, oropharyngeal and nasopharyngeal specimens. The patient subsequently developed fever and skin rash after hospital admission. Careful history taking along physical examination should be conducted in the patients who have epidemiologic risk factors for monkeypox. Moreover, appropriate specimens should be obtained from lesions and tested for the monkeypox virus.

Dislocation of the temporomandibular joint(TMJ) is fairly frequent but backward dislocation of TMJ during induction of anesthesia is rarely reported. The causes include congenital weakness of the capsule or malformation of the condyles of both. The physical causes are as follows The joint may be strained or injured during general anesthesia, 1) possible straing or injureyto the joint, 2) yawning, 3) attempts by children to insert large objects into the mouth, 4) and positional pressures during sleep. A case of backward dislocation of TMJ occureed during induction of anesthesia and treated with manual reduction and subsequent intermaxillary fixation.

Recent marine transportation environment is aiming at large of a ship by effort for a reduction for transporting expenses and high-speed anger per distribution cost reduction demand from raise or continuous container physical distribution volume and goods owener, a unit of container shipping companies. Busan and Shanghai Port are doing a modernizationi, and the Both Port is working hard at strenthening competitiveness through conversions toward the u-Port which used RFID/USN technology in order to fit to that kind of demand. Projects aimed at increasing the efficiency of port logistics have been carried out by advanced countries, including Korea and China, and major port Busan and Shanghai set up port information system using Logistics System, RFID technologies. The purpose of this study is to outline policy proposals for the introduction of RFID technologies for advancing port logistics and derives an action plan for the long-term utilization of RFID technology in Busan and Shanghai. <P>In this paper, the volume trap densities <I>Nt</I> are extracted from gate-all-around silicone-nanowire FETs with different gate oxides, using a cylindrical-coordinate-based flicker noise model developed. For extracting <I>Nt</I>, the drain-current power spectral densities were measured from a large number of identical devices and averaged over, thereby mimicking the spatial distribution of trap sites inducing 1/<I>f</I> curve. Also, effective mobility and threshold voltage were simultaneously extracted with the series resistance to characterize the 1/<I>f</I> noise in terms of intrinsic values of these two channel parameters. The volume trap densities thus extracted from different oxides (in situ steam-generated oxide/rapid thermal oxide/nitride-gated oxide) are compared and further examined using hot-carrier stress data. Finally, radius dependence of the cylindrical 1/<I>f</I> model developed is discussed.</P>
