        Increased Intraocular Pressure after Extensive Conjunctival Removal: A Case Report

        A 50-year-old woman, who had undergone extensive removal of conjunctiva on the right eye for cosmetic purposes at a local clinic 8 months prior to presentation, was referred for uncontrolled intraocular pressure (IOP) elevation (up to 38 mmHg) despite maximal medical treatment. The superior and inferior conjunctival and episcleral vessels were severely engorged and the nasal and temporal bulbar conjunctival areas were covered with an avascular epithelium. Gonioscopic examination revealed an open angle with Schlemm’s canal filled with blood to 360 degrees in the right eye. Brain and orbital magnetic resonance imaging and angiography results were normal. With the maximum tolerable anti-glaucoma medications, the IOP gradually decreased to 25 mmHg over 4 months of treatment. Extensive removal of conjunctiva and Tenon’s capsule, leaving bare sclera, may lead to an elevation of the episcleral venous pressure because intrascleral and episcleral veins may no longer drain properly due to a lack of connection to Tenon’s capsule and the conjunctival vasculature. This rare case suggests one possible mechanism of secondary glaucoma following ocular surgery.

        법사학의 의의와 과제

        법사학이란 법 현상을 역사적으로 고찰하는 학문 분야이다.^1) 따라서 법사학은 법학과 역사학의 교차점에 위치하는 학문이라 말 할수 있다. 좀 더 정확히 말한다면, 법적사실을 대상으로 한 역사학이라고 할 수 있을 것이다. 이런 점에서 법사학은 실정법의 규범적 의미를 규명하는 것을 목적으로 하는 해석법학과는 다른 기초법학의 영역에 속한다. 기초법학 가운데서도 법의 본질이나 이념의 철학적 규명을 목적으로 하는 법철학과도 구분되며, 법적 사실을 탐구한다는 점에서는 법사회학과 공통되지만, 법사회학이 현재의 법적 사실을 사회학적 방법에 의하여 탐구하는 데 반하여, 법사학은 과거의 법적 사실을 생성ㆍ변동ㆍ소멸이라는 유기적 연관 가운데서 역사적으로 파악하려 한다는 점에서 법사회학과도 구분된다.^2) 이렇듯이 법사학은 독립된 분과로서의 다른 학문 분과와의 구별성을 뚜렷이 가짐에도 불구하고, 우리나라에서 법사학은 법학과 역사학 어느 쪽으로부터도 뚜렷한 위상을 확보하지 못하고 있는 실정이다.

      • 가와사키병에서 혈중 Salicylate 농도에 대한 조사

        저자들은 가와사키병에서 항염증제로 사용되는 아스피린의 혈중농도를 측정하여 관상동맥 침범상태에 따라 비교한 결과 관상동맥 침범군에서 낮게 측정되었으며 아스피린 대사에 영향을 주는 위산도, 뇨산도, 혈중 알부민 농도와는 상관관계는 없었다. In Kawasaki disease, many studies have reported about risk factors of coronary artery involvement. This study was designed to evaluate factors influencing coronary artery involvement including serum salicylate concentration of third day after oral aspirin (100 mg/kg/day divided to four) administration in 93 children (involved group = 21, uninvolved group = 72) and to evaluate the relationships between serum salicylate concentration and gastric pH, unine pH and serum albumin concentration. The results were as follows : 1) Male children were more frequently complicated by coronary artery disease. 2) The mean of the highest ESR during the course was 103.0 35.7 mm/hr in the involved group and 85.5 4.5 mm/hr in the uninvolved group (p = 0.038) 3) There was significant difference in comparison of the mean serum salicylate concentrations between involved and uninvolved group, 8.2 4.5mg/dl and 10.9 5.9 mg/dl, respectively (p = 0.048). 4) There were no relationships between serum salicylate concentration and gastric pH, urine pH and serum albumin concentration. These results suggest that the serum salicylate concentration during acute phase may be a factor influencing coronary artery involvement in Kawasaki disease.

      • 지도학습 기법을 이용한 스펙트럴 군집분석의 근사 방법

        Spectral clustering is one of the most recent unsupervised learning methods in data partitioning problems. Although spectral clustering algorithms commonly show better experimental results than those of other clustering methods, there are some practical issues in using the methods. This article concentrates on two critical issues in a large-scale problem; computing time and data storage requirements. Traditional spectral clustering algorithms are impractical in large-scale problems because of the eigenvalue decomposition. We propose a new algorithm which is introducing supervised learning techniques to spectral clustering to handle largescale data partitioning problems efficiently. Our method predicts eigenvector elements using the Gaussian process regression method with a smallsize spectral decomposition. With experiments on several large-scale data sets, we show our algorithm leads a remarkable computational cost reduction and nearly identical results comparing to the traditional spectral clustering.

      • Sc.thermophilus와 L. bulgaricus를 利用한 醱酵 Sausage 製造에 關한 硏究

        Studies have been conducted concerning the utilization of Sc. termophilus and L. bulgaricus which were used as lactic acid bacteria in fermented sausage. This experiment was carried out to toke advantage of lactic acid bacteria arid enhance the storage effect. The results obtained were summarized as follows. (1) PH of the control showed higher level during 50-day storage than T1; 4.8, T2; 4.75, B1; 4.8, B2; 4.8, TB1; 4.7, and TB2; 4.7. (2) The acidity of the control lot didn't show any change during storage and that of the starter culture added lot were all above 2.0%, and mixture of Sc. thermophilus and L. bulgaricus showed the digest acidity 2.44%. (3) There exist no lactic acid bacteria in control lot, added with Sc. thermophilus lot (T1) and L. bulgaricus lot (B1) during 50-day storage. Bacterial count of Sc. thermophilus added lot was 3.4 × 103/g and that of combination mixture lot (TB1), Sc. thermophilus and L. bulgaricus, was 2.5 × 103/g. TB2 showed the higst bacterial count 2.8×105/g and L. bulgaricus lot (B2) added lot (B2) showed the lowest bacterial count; 1 4×103/g, (4) Total bacterial count of control lot showed 4.3×105/g and that of starter culture added lot showed 4×105/g which is below the admittance value of law. (5) The moisture content (below 48%) of the lot showed low level, and protein (above 27%) and fat (above 20%) contents showed very high level.

        Chlorella 의 물질대사에 미치는 미양원소의 결핍효과 1 (제 1 ) -생 및 광합성 에 관하여-

        Chlorella ellipsoidea cells were cultured in an iron, copper, zinc, manganese, molybdenum or boron-free medium. Physiological activities such as growth rate, reproduction, endogenous and glucose respiration, photosynthetic activity and biosythesis of chlorophyll of the micro-element definition cells were measured. It generally, growth rate, respiratory and photosynthetic activities, and biosynthesis of chlorophyll of the micro-element deficient cells decreased more or less, compared with those of the normal cells. The growth of the algal cells in an iron-free medium were retarded severely with the chlorosis, and the photosynthetic activity of the cells decreased remarkably even though the low content of chlorophyll in the cells owing to the iron-deficiency is considered. Therefore, it is deduced that iron takes part in the photosynthetic process itself, possibly by its participation in the photo phosphorylation coupled with electron transport. Respiratory activity of boron-deficient cells showed the most severe decrease whereas those of the molybdenum-deficient cells showed very slight decrease in spite of severe growth retardation.
