        It has been reported that Stratococcus aures(S. aureus) causes outbreaks of infection. To investigate the nosocomial infection, one hundred strains of S. aureus were isolated from the nasal cavity of the personnel and the environment in the dental clinic at Chonbuk province in Korea, the nasal cavity of personnel in healthy students, and the disease site from the patients at the Wonkwang medical center and Jesus presbyterian medical center. S. aureus was identified by Gram stain, catalase test, mannitol fermentation test and coagulase test. After isolation, the strains were characterized by antibiotic resistance. The antibiotic susceptibility tests were performed according to the National Committee of Clinical Laboratory Standards. Cadmium-resistance testing was assayed by broth dilution using Mueller-Hinton containing 125 μM of cadmium. Plasmid DNA was isolated by boiling method. All isolate of S. aureus in this study showed the resistance to ampicillin and penicillin, and the susceptibility to vancomycin. The resistance ratio of cadmium in the disease site was higher than that of the healthy site. These results suggest that S. aureus in the hospital might show the resistance to ampicillin and penicillin, and vancomycin be a drug of choice in the nosocomial infection.

        In this study electrical and sintering properties were investigated in PNN-PZT system showed excellent piezoelectric behavior. ?? were calcined at 700℃, 800℃ and 850℃ and sintered at 1150℃, 1200℃ and 1250℃ using duplication of crucibles. To obtain a densesintered body we used atmospheric powder. Also we added 0.5, 1, 1.5, 2wt% of CdO to ?? system. Dielectric constant and it's maximum value at ?? increased according to increasing sintering temperature because of high density and large grain size. With increasing sintering temperature ?? moved to lower temperature range. When the amount of CdO addition was increased, dielectric constant was decreased because of large grain size.

        This paper describes a data acquisition system which can be applied to a general inspection equipment for FA. A HP capacitance meter is chosen as a input device for data acquisition. Measuring data from the capacitance meter is accepted through the GPIB interface and processed under Windows environment. Our data acquisition system can handle at least 10 input devices.

      • 한국산 양다래의 재배지역과 경도에 따른 품질 요인 분석

        한국산 양다래의 주요 품종인 Hayward, Abbott, Bruno를 재배지역별로 경도에 따른 품질분석을 실시한 결과는 다음과 같다. 경도는 제주산 Abbott가 제일 높았으며 지역에 따른 차이에서도 위도가 낮은 제주 지역의 Hayward가 경도가 높은 경향을 나타내었다. 그러나 해남 읍산의 Hayward는 D 그룹(2.2kg/㎠ 이상)이 35.9%이었다. 과실 경도에 따른 적정산도는 1.93-2.47% 범위였으나 제주시산 Hayward가 비교적 산함량이 많앗고 서귀포산 Hayward가 비교적 낮은 경향을 보였다. Brix 당도를 보면 해남읍산 Hayward가 16.0% 내외로써 가장 높았고 서귀포산 Hayward가 평균 13.0%로써 가장 낮았다. 유리당은 주로 glucose와 fructose이었으며 과실에 원래 함유되어 있을 것으로 예상되는 sucrose는 숙성중 invertase에 의해 분해된 것으로 생각된다. 품종과 지역에 따라 유기산 함량은 상당히 다른 경향을 나타내고 있으나 전체적으로 citric acid의 함량이 가장 많았다. chlorophyll 함량은 지역과 품종에 따라 차이를 나타내고 있으나 chlorophyll a:b의 비율은 1.3~1.5 내외로써 거의 일정한 값을 보여주고 있다. Kiwifruits (Actinidia chinensis Planch, cv. Hayward, cv. Bruno and cv. Abbott) were grouped into four groups based on its fruit hardness after storage at 2℃ for three months. Most of Hayward cultivars from the Che-ju area were belonged to C group (1.6-2.1kg/㎠) by hardness. It was shown that these fruits were suitable for the direct use as fresh state. Contents of various components prepared from the four fruit groups were determined. There was no significant difference in the contents of acidity, soluble solids, free sugars(glucose and fructose) and ascorbic acid. However the contents of organic acids (citric and malic acid) were closely associated with the degree of fruit hardness and the cultivating area.

      • 培養鷄胚筋細胞分化에 미치는 細胞融合促進物質의 영향

        培養鷄胚筋細胸 分化에 미치는 促進物質의 영향을 알아보고자 2가양이온 (Ca2+, Mg2+) 胸胚抽出物 (EE), polyethylene glycol (PEG), 再生中인 도마뱀 (Lacertilia)꼬리 추출물 (BE)을 처리하여 細胸融合指數를 비교 조사하였다. 정상배양시의 細胸融合指數는 배양시작 70 시간에 최대에 달했으며 더이상 증가하지 않았고, Ca2+와 Mg2+ 처리할 경우에는 농도가 증가할수록 細胸融合指數는 저하되고, 근세포의 굵기도 정상세포보다 가늘고 핵이 모여있었다. Polyethylene Glycol (PEG)와 Blastemata Extract (BE) 처리군에서는 대조구와 큰 차이가 없는 것으로 나타났다. 鷄胚抽出物 (EE) 을 筋細胞分化에 필수적이나 과량으로 添加시에는 細胞融合은 억제되고 세포수는 증가되는것으로 나타났다. To study the effects of promoting factors on the differentiation of muscle cells, chick embryonic myoblasts were cultured with divalent cations (Ca2+, Mg2+) Chick embryo extract (EE), Polyethylene Glycol (PEG) and Blastema extract of Lacertilia (BE). Fusion index and Growth ratio were measured at various culture time. The fusion index of normal myoblast culture was reached maximum at 70 hours and the divalent cations (Ca2+, Mg2+) treated groups were decreased at higher concentration. The cellular formation of myoblasts treated with divalent cations was thiner and more aggregated between nuclei than that of normal myoblasts calture was. When polyethylene glycol (PEG) and Blastema extract of Lacertilia (BE) were treated to the myoblasts, tha fusion indices were similar to the control. Embryo Extract (EE) was seemed to be necessary for the fusion of chick embryonic myoblasts in culture, however, when excess of EE was added the fusion index was decreased and the number of cells was increased.

        반대 투자전략과 거래량에 관한 연구 : 우리나라 주식시장을 중심으로

        본 연구는 우리나라 주식시장에서 거래량이 여러 가지 한대투자전략의 횡단면 주식수익률을 예측하는데 유용한 정보인지를 검증하는데 있다. 즉 거래량에 의한 반대투자전략의 투자성과가 통계적으로 유의하게 나타나는 지를 검증하는데 있다. 본 연구는 표본기업은 1990년도부터 2000년도까지 계속적으로 상장되어 있는 상장기업들로 선정한다. 실증분석 결과, 첫째로 우리나라 주식시장에서 주가모멘텀 효과는 나타나지 않았고, 반대투자전략이 보유기간 12개월과 15개월에서 유용하다는 것을 발견하였다. 둘째로 우리나라 주식시장에서 단순한 반대투자전략에 의한 보유수익률보다는 거래량의 정보를 이용한 반대투자전략의 보유수익률이 높게 나타나는 증거를 발견하였다. 이러한 발견은 과거 거래량이 미래 반대투자전략의 투자성과에 대한 크기와 지속성을 예측할 수 있다는 것이다. 셋째로 과거의 거래량을 이용한 반대투자전략이 단순 반대투자전략보다 높은 투자성과를 얻을 수 있다는 것을 발견하였다. 이는 과거의 거래량의 정보효과가 가치가 있으며, 과거의 거래량 정보의 주가반응이 과소 또는 과대반응하였다는 결과로 해석된다. 결론적으로 거래량이라는 기업특성의 정보를 이용하여 반대투자전략의 투자성과의 크기와 지속성을 예측할 수 있다고 본다.

        Surface Nanopatterning: Mussel‐Inspired Block Copolymer Lithography for Low Surface Energy Materials of Teflon, Graphene, and Gold (Adv. Mater. 47/2011)

        <P>Mussel‐inspired block copolymer lithography is reported on page 5618 by Haeshin Lee, Sang Ouk Kim, and co‐workers. Mussel‐inspired poly‐dopamine coating enables the organic surface energy modification of low surface energy materials, such as Teflon, graphene, and gold, which is required for block copolymer lithography. Further pattern transfer generates unconventional nano structures, such as Teflon nanowires, nano‐patterned graphene, and vertical carbon nanotubes directly grown on Au substrates. The image shows an uncoated (left) and a polydopamine‐coated (right) cherry tomato. </P>

      • Inhibitory Effects of <i>Chrysanthemum boreale</i> Essential Oil on Biofilm Formation and Virulence Factor Expression of <i>Streptococcus mutans</i>

        <P>The aim of the study was to evaluate the antibacterial activity of essential oil extracted from <I>Chrysanthemum boreale</I> (<I>C. boreale</I>) on <I>Streptococcus mutans</I> (<I>S. mutans</I>). To investigate anticariogenic properties, and bacterial growth, acid production, biofilm formation, bacterial adherence of <I>S. mutans</I> were evaluated. Then gene expression of several virulence factors was also evaluated. <I>C. boreale</I> essential oil exhibited significant inhibition of bacterial growth, adherence capacity, and acid production of <I>S. mutans</I> at concentrations 0.1–0.5 mg/mL and 0.25–0.5 mg/mL, respectively. The safranin staining and scanning electron microscopy results showed that the biofilm formation was also inhibited. The result of live/dead staining showed the bactericidal effect. Furthermore, real-time PCR analysis showed that the gene expression of some virulence factors such as <I>gtf</I>B, <I>gtf</I>C, <I>gtf</I>D, <I>gbp</I>B, <I>spa</I>P, <I>brp</I>A, <I>rel</I>A, and <I>vic</I>R of <I>S. mutans</I> was significantly decreased in a dose dependent manner. In GC and GC-MS analysis, seventy-two compounds were identified in the oil, representing 85.42% of the total oil. The major components were camphor (20.89%), <I>β</I>-caryophyllene (5.71%), <I>α</I>-thujone (5.46%), piperitone (5.27%), <I>epi</I>-sesquiphellandrene (5.16%), <I>α</I>-pinene (4.97%), 1,8-cineole (4.52%), <I>β</I>-pinene (4.45%), and camphene (4.19%). These results suggest that <I>C. boreale</I> essential oil may inhibit growth, adhesion, acid tolerance, and biofilm formation of <I>S. mutans</I> through the partial inhibition of several of these virulence factors.</P>
