The mesoscopic $Sb_2S_3$-sensitized photoelectrochemical solar cells using cobalt redox electrolyte exhibit nonlinear behavior of power conversion efficiency with illuminated sun intensity. From the measurement of bulk diffusion and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy studies, we suggest that the nonlinearity of device performance with illuminated sun intensity is attributed not to the slow bulk diffusion problem of cobalt electrolyte but to the limited mass transport in narrowed pore volume in mesoscopic $TiO_2$ electrode.

Anthropometric traits for eyes and nose are complex quantitative traits influenced by genetic and environmental factors. To date, there have been few reports on the contribution of genetic influence to these traits in Asian populations. The aim of this study was to determine the genetic effect and quantitative trait locus (QTL) of seven traits eyes- and nose-related anthropometric measurements in an isolated Mongolian population. Frontal and lateral photographs were obtained from 1,014 individuals (434 males and 580 females) of Mongolian origin. A total of 349 short tandem repeat markers on 22 autosomes were genotyped for each individual. Heritability estimates of the seven ocular and nasal traits, adjusted for significant covariates, ranged from 0.48 to 0.90, providing evidence for a genetic influence. Variance-component linkage analyses revealed 10 suggestive linkage signals on 5q34 (LOD = 3.2), 18q12.2 (LOD = 2.7), 5q15 (LOD = 2.0), 9q34.2 (LOD = 1.9), 5q34 (LOD = 1.9), 17q22 (LOD = 1.9), 13q33.3 (LOD = 2.7), 1q36.22 (LOD = 1.9), 4q32.1 (LOD = 2.1) and 15q22.31 (LOD = 2.9). Our study provides the first evidence that genetics influences nasal and ocular traits in a Mongolian population. Additional collaborative efforts will further extend our understanding of the link between genetic factors and human anthropometric traits.

<P>Sb2S3-sensitized mesoporous-TiO2 solar cells using several conjugated polymers as hole-transporting materials (HTMs) are fabricated. We found that the cell performance was strongly correlated with the chemical interaction at the interface of Sb2S3 as sensitizer and the HTMs through the thiophene moieties, which led to a higher fill factor (FF), open-circuit voltage (<I>V</I>oc), and short-circuit current density (<I>J</I>sc). With the application of PCPDTBT (poly(2,6-(4,4-bis-(2-ethylhexyl)-4<I>H</I>-cyclopenta[2,1-<I>b</I>;3,4-<I>b</I>′]dithiophene)-<I>alt</I>-4,7(2,1,3-benzothiadiazole)) as a HTM in a Sb2S3-sensitized solar cell, overall power conversion efficiencies of 6.18, 6.57, and 6.53% at 100, 50, and 10% solar irradiation, respectively, were achieved with a metal mask.</P><P><B>Graphic Abstract</B> <IMG SRC='http://pubs.acs.org/appl/literatum/publisher/achs/journals/content/nalefd/2011/nalefd.2011.11.issue-11/nl2026184/production/images/medium/nl-2011-026184_0005.gif'></P><P><A href='http://pubs.acs.org/doi/suppl/10.1021/nl2026184'>ACS Electronic Supporting Info</A></P>

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>We investigated the color conversion characteristics of a quantum dot/organic light-emitting diode (QD/OLED) by altering blue emission using the microcavity effect. Compared to the ITO-based OLED, the WO3/Ag/WO3 (WAW)-based OLED has a narrow shape of resonance and high cavity enhancement factor. As a result, the peak emission intensity wavelength remarkably shifts as the thickness of the WO3 layer increases and the WAW-based OLED with inner WO3 thickness of 120 nm shows an additional emission peak at 420 nm due to the second resonance. As the thickness of the WO3 layer increases, the color coordinates of the hybrid QD/OLED with the ITO anode are nearly unchanged. However, hybrid WAW-based devices exhibit distinct color coordinates, such as nearly blue light, nearly green light and nearly white light with color coordinates of (0.31, 0.37).</P>

The ThMn12-type structure has attracted attention as permanent magnetic material due to the high anisotropy field, saturation magnetization (Ms), and Curie temperature (TC). The Sm(Fe0.8Co0.2)11Ti (SFCT) materials have been intensively studied to synthesize high permanent magnets by controlling the doping element. In this study, we tried to investigate SFCT materials prepared by reaction-diffusion reaction. we prepared the Smx(Fe0.8Co0.2)11Ti (x= 1~4) precursor was prepared by a common co-precipitation method. The samarium nitrate hexahydrate, cobalt nitrate hexahydrate, titanium tetrachloride, and iron nitrate hexahydrate were dissolved in deionized water at 70 C to form a homogeneous solution. The 3M KOH solution was slowly dropwise in the solution. Then the pH of the solution was adjusted slowly to pH 12 by adding dropwise ammonium hydroxide solution. The precipitates were collected by filtration. The precursors were heat-treated at 600℃ for 4h in H₂ gas. The hydrogen-reduced powders were mixed with calcium granules and pelletized. The pelletized samples were heated at 950 - 1050 ℃ for 1 h in Ar gas. Samples were characterized by using an x-ray diffractometer (XRD) with Cu-Kα radiation source, a vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The samples were obtained ThMn12-type phase at 1050 ℃ for 1 h in Ar gas. The Ms and Hc values of Sm(Fe0.8Co0.2)11Ti samples were 95 emu/g and 1935 Oe. Detailed microstructures and magnetic properties will be presented for discussion.

Purpose: The purpose of this research was to analyze drinking on the day of injury, usual drinking pattern, factors associated with the injury and socioeconomic factors for patents who visited the emergency room (ER) for injuries. Methods: From among all the trauma patients who visited ER, this research included 474 patents who were over 18 years of age and who visited the ER within 48 hours of their injury. Questionnaire surveys, telephone surveys, and serologic tests were conducted for all the patients. Results: The drinking rate before injury was 51.9% among the 337 drinkers. The rate of drinkers was 72.2% (male 85%, female 42.6%), and the rate of habitual drinkers was 22.4% among the 466 subjects. The rates of habitual drinkers and nonhabitual drinkers were 31.5% and 68.5%, retrospectively, among the 337 drinkers. Such groups as assaulted patients, patents operated on under local anesthesia, patients injured indoor or outdoor except on roads, patients diagnosed as laceration, and patients injured between midnight and 8 a.m., and between 4p.m. and midnight had significantly higher incidents of drinking on the day of the injury (p=0.00~0.02). Such groups as males, older people, married people, people with low levels of education, people with high incomes and assaulted patients had significantly higher numbers of habitual drinkers (p=0.00~0.04). Conclusion: This study suggests that alcohol use is an important factor for patients who visit the ER for injuries and alcohol drinking. But it can, not be concluded that there is a causal relation between alcohol use and injury. Such groups who visit the ER for injuries as males, older people, married people, people with low levels of education, people with high incomes and assaulted patients need to be screened for alcohol misuse.
