Objectives : The purpose of this study is to report a 67-year-old male patient with Herpes zoster(caseⅠ) and a 38-year-old female patient with Herpes zoster(caseⅡ), whose symptoms were relieved after Korean medicine treatment alone. Methods : Both patients took Yeonryeonggobondan and Pyungwee-san daily. Everytime they came to the hospital, they received acupuncture treatment, Hwidam's Su-Gi therapy and External Gigong Therapy. Acupuncture was applied by gall bladder seunggyeok(膽勝格, GB-), spleen jeonggyeok(脾正格, SP+), large intestine seunggyeok(大腸勝格, LI-) of Saam's Acupuncture Method. Hwidam's Su-Gi therapy was applied on neck. External Gigong Therapy was applied on skin lesion area. the patients' symptoms were evaluated with photographs and VAS. Results : The results were as follows: 1. In the case of a 67-year-old male patient, it took 14 days to recover the skin lesions and to reduce the pain after treatment started. And he visited 13 times during that period. 2. In the case of a 38-year-old female patient, it took 23 days to recover the skin lesions to reduce and the pain after treatment started. And she visited 10 times during that period. 3. Intensive treatment early in treating herpes zoster helped to shorten the treatment period. 4. Taking Yeonryeonggobondan and Pyungwee-san and receiving acupuncture treatment(SP+) can help to improve immunity and recover skin lesions in herpes zoster diagnosed with spleen deficiency with dampness encumbrance(脾虛濕困) and blood stasis due to qi stagnation(氣滯血瘀). 5. The combination of acupuncture treatment(GB-) and External Gigong Therapy was effective in controlling pain. 6. External Gigong Therapy is considered to be effective for the recovery of the skin as well as the pain of the herpes zoster. Conclusions : Korean medicine treatment alone has a great effect on the above two patients with herpes zoster. I hope the active research about Korean medicine treatment will be done not only for herpes zoster but also for various intractable pain diseases.

The results of relation and development between the position sensory of upper and lower limbs and motor skill, and what superior is between right and left limb are followings ; 1. It seen to have no relation between the position sensory and motor skill. It seems to have no meaningful difference statistically in the comparison of difference between sports group and non-sports group students, although, according to some investigators in special measurement parts and methods, sports group is superior. 2. It seems to be superior the both side limbs to any one side limb in the position sensory of upper and lower limbs.

Liquid-liquid extractions by use of microporous hollow fiber modules are fast compared with conventional extraction equipment because of the large surface area per volume. In these modules, the extractant and feed can be contacted at high speed andtwo flows are completely independent, so there are no problems with loading and channeling. In this paper, it was investigated the extractability for liquid-liquid extraction of Cu(Ⅱ) from dilute aqueous solution into D2EHPA(di-2-ethylhexylphosphoric acid), TBP(tri-n-butyphosphate) and TOA(tri-n-octylamine) as organic extractants by using the hydrophobic hollow fiber module. To determine the dependence of mass transfer rate on distribution of Cu(Ⅱ) in the module, we compared the overall mass transfer coefficient with distribution ratio. From these experiments, we identified the effect of distribution ratio on the overall mass transfer coefficient was, for the low H, the K? was increased with increasing H, but high value of H, the effect of H on K? could be negligible.

To induce bone formation at ectopic site by tissue engineering and gene therapy, we transplanted collagen sponges containing rhBMP-7 transduced HEK 293 cells in the hypodermis of nude mice. Bone formation was investigated by histological and electron microscopic method at 3, 6, and 9 weeks after transplantation. At 9 weeks after transplantation, eosinophilic bony tissue was observed in the implanted collagen sponge and was confirmed as bone tissue by Von Kossa stain. In the transmission electron microscopic observation, the cells in newly formed bone tissue had eccentrically located nucleus and well developed rough endoplasmic reticulum (rER). Therefore, the cells were evaluated as osteoblasts. Those results suggest that it is possible to form a bone tissue in the ectopic site by transplantation of rhBMP-7 transduced HEK 293 cells. This will be contributed to push more advanced gene therapy for bone formation. However, the HEK 293 cell is unable to apply to the clinical gene therapy. Therefore it is worth to find more compatible cells for clinical application. In addition, collagen sponge is considered as an excellent scaffold and/or carrier for gene therapy and a good biomaterial for tissue engineering.

By use of hollow fiber membrane module, this study examines the value of H(distribution ratio) and Kw(overall mass transfer coefficient) on the Hg(Ⅱ), and used di-2-ethylhexylphospric acid(DZEHPA), tributyl phosphate(TBP), tri-n-octylamine(TOA) as extractant, Also, shown the change of changing the acid. From these experiments and discussions, we have the results as follows. 1. In case of Hg(Ⅱ), the order of well seperated is TOA, DZEHPA, TBP. 2. Concentration decrease ratio have the straight lines for the changing of the time in each systems. So, It was know that the result coincide with theory. 3. The effect of Kw vs. H were shown that in case of H is lower than 10, H is high effect. But H is higher than 10, H is low effect.

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>The NAD<SUP>+</SUP>-dependent deacetylase SIRT1, which is associated with the improvement of metabolic syndromes, such as type 2 diabetes, is a well-known longevity-related gene. Several <I>in vitro</I> and <I>in vivo</I> studies have shown the known protective effects of SIRT1 activators, such as resveratrol and SRT1720, on diabetes- or obesity-induced fatty liver and insulin resistance. Here, we newly synthesized 18 benzoxazole hydrochloride derivatives based on the structure of resveratrol and SRT1720. We performed an <I>in vitro</I> SIRT1 activity assay to identify the strongest SIRT1 activator. The assay confirmed MHY2233 to be the strongest SIRT1 activator (1.5-fold more potent than resveratrol), and docking simulation showed that the binding affinity of MHY2233 was higher than that of resveratrol and SRT1720. To investigate its beneficial effects, db/db mice were orally administered MHY2233 for 1 month, and various metabolic parameters were assessed in the serum and liver tissues. MHY2233 markedly ameliorated insulin signaling without affecting body weight in db/db mice. In particular, the mRNA expression of lipogenic genes, such as acetyl CoA carboxylase, fatty acid synthase, and sterol regulatory element-binding protein, which increased in db/db mice, decreased following oral treatment with MHY2233.</P> <P>In conclusion, the novel SIRT1 activator MHY2233 reduced lipid accumulation and improved insulin resistance. Mast cells are a potent source of mediators that regulate the inflammatory response in allergic reaction. To evaluate the atopic allergic effect of Asiasari radix(AR), the author investigated a possible effect of AR on mast cell-mediated allergic reaction, cytokines secretion and mRNA expression in vivo and in vitro. In mice orally administered by AR (0.01, 0.1 and 1.0 g/kg) for 1 h, compound 48/80-induced ear swelling was significantly reduced (P < 0.05). AR had inhibitory effects on tumor necrosis factor $(TNF)-{\alpha}$, interleukin (IL)-8, and IL-6 secretion from HMC-1. Significant reduced levels of $TNF-{\alpha}$ mRNA was observed in the human mast cell line (HMC-1) with AR (1.0 mg/ml). In addition, AR had no cytotoxic effect on cell viability. These results suggest that AR contributes to the treatment of atopic allergic reactions, and that its action may be due to inhibition of cytokine secretion and mRNA expression in HMC-1.

<P>There have been many studies of ferromagnetism in ZnCoO, and the results have been controversial. Secondary phases, such as Co oxides and Co metal clusters, in ZnCoO are easily produced during treatment, but the formation conditions are not well understood. We fabricated samples under hydrogen-injection conditions at different heat-treatment temperatures and examined the conditions by using synchrotron X-ray analysis under which Co<SUB>3</SUB>O<SUB>4</SUB> appeared or was transformed into Co metal. We investigated the transforming process of the ferromagnetic origin from intrinsic to extrinsic nature via intermediate region competition by Co–H–Co and Co metal cluster and suggest conditions that induce ferromagnetic spin ordering in ZnCoO due to Co–H–Co complexes through hydrogen mediation.</P><P><B>Graphic Abstract</B> <IMG SRC='http://pubs.acs.org/appl/literatum/publisher/achs/journals/content/jpccck/2012/jpccck.2012.116.issue-22/jp300536w/production/images/medium/jp-2012-00536w_0010.gif'></P>
