Rhabdomyolysis is a serious and potentiallylethal disease that can develop from a variety of traumatic and nontraumatic conditions. In this report, the authors describe a case of rhabdomyolysis that occurredafter a body-building tournament. A 32-year-old body-builder was admitted due to quadriplegia and muscle pain. The patient had a serum potassium level of 1.8 mmol/L, creatinine phosphokinase level of 5,414 IU/L and urine myoglobin of 128.1 ng/ml. He had taken anabolic androgenic steroids for 6 months and overate himself with carbohydrate food after the tournament. Possible causes for the rhabdomyolysis were hypokalemia, exercise, and anabolic androgenic steroids, etc. His condition was fully recovered without complications after potassium replacement and general supportive care. Body-builders may be exposed to rhabdomyolysis risk factors such as diet control, weight reduction, and taking steroids. Therefore, special attention and education on rhabdomyolysis should be provided to body-builders.
알코올-물 혼합 용매계에서 치환된 염화신남오일의 가용매분해반응에 관한 속도론적 연구

아세톤, 에탄올, 메탄올 이성분 혼합수용액에서 파라치환된 cinnamoyl chloride의 가용매분해반응을 25$^{\circ}C$에서 수행하였다. 이들 속도자료로부터 Grunwald-Winstein관계식, Hammett 식, PES 모형과 QM모형을 이용하여 해석 하였다. 파라 치환된 cinnamoyl chloride의 일차반응속도상수를 이용하여 Grunwald-Winstein 도시를 한 결과 세 개의 분리된 곡선으로 분산 현상을 보였으며 알코올 수용액에서 큰 m 값을 나타내었다. PES 모형과 QM 모형에 의한 전이상태 변화에 대한 예측으로부터 본 연구에서의 반응은 결합 이탈이 많이 진전된 $S_N1$형 $S_N2$ 반응으로 진행되고 있음을 알 수 있었다. Solvolyses of para-substituted cinnamoyl chlorides in aqueous binary mixtures of acetone, ethanol, methanol were investigated at 25.0$^{\circ}C$. These data were interpreted using the Grunwald-Winstein relationship, Hammett equation, and quantum mechanical model. Grunwald-Winstein plots of the first-order rate constants for para-substituted cinnamoyl chlorides with $Y_{CI}$ showed marked dispersions into three separate curves for the three aqueous mixtures with a large m vaIue for aqueous alcohol solvents. This study has shown that the potential energy surface and quanturm mechanical model predict transition state variation correctly for $S_N1$ like $S_N2$ reaction mechanism of para-substituted cinnamoyl chlorides.

Background: Neonatal porcine pancreas is an attractive alternative source for islet transplantation because of its growth potential and availability. Porcine neonatal pancreatic cell clusters(NPCCs) consist mainly of protodifferentiated cells expressing both the duct cell marker pancytokeratin and islet hormones. In this study, we investigated to expand and mature the pancreas duct cells contained in porcine NPCCs with extracellular matrix. Methods: For NPCCs, pancreas obtained from neonatal pigs were minced, digested with collagenase and cultured overnight, Then NPCCs were further disparsed to small cell groups and cultured on HTB-9 extracellular matrix: the tissue attached and formed monolayer patches. At the 3rd and 8th days, tissue was fixed, immunostained for pancytokeratin (panCK), vimentin (VT) and islet hormones. Results: During 5 days culture, the total cell numbers increased 3.2 fold on the matrix, and 1.6 fold on the sticky dish, respectively. Insulin positive cells (Ins+) were 6.0% of total cells at day 3 and increased 1.6 fold in nurnbers at day 8. There was significant increase in DNA content of NPCCs in monolayers on both sticky dishes and HTB-9 matrix. In contrast, insulin content of both groups decreased during culture periods. Until 8 days of culture affer dispersion of porcine NPCC, most duct cells costained with panCK and VT. Conclusion: We observed NPCCs were composed of many of duct cells which were known to be endocrine precursor cells and monolayer culture of NPCC with extracellular matrix resulted in the proliferation and differentiation of pancreatic duct cells
