Questioning the International : (Un)making Bosnian and Korean Conflicts, Cinematically

This paper grapples with the complexity of surviving the perennial relegation to object positions in international politics and conflicts. It focuses on Bosnia and Korea as sites with complicated histories engendered and kept alive by specific experiences of conflicts and intimate “post-conflict” entanglements. Through a close reading of Bosnian and Korean films, we illustrate how “post-conflict” promises of transformation ushered in by declarations that the Cold War had ended create a particular post-conflict politico-affective scene. We term this scene “postsocialist” that makes visible how a myriad of narratives, images, and expressive iterations are resonant longings and orientations towards multiple worlds foreclosed by the triumphalist post-Cold War imaginary. Interweaving Bosnian and Korean films, we argue that nostalgia and longing are dramas of adjustments that create and reconfigure the international. Building upon the work on desire and affect by Lauren Berlant, Sara Ahmed, and Trinh Minhha, the paper proposes a new grammar for imagining, writing, and co-creating the international through a discussion of the case of slowness and being a fool in (post) conflict scenes.

We use some known contiguous function relations for $_2F_1$ to show how simply the following three recurrence relations for Jacobi polynomials $P_n^{({\alpha},{\beta)}(x)$: (i) $({\alpha}+{\beta}+n)P_n^{({\alpha},{\beta})}(x)=({\beta}+n)P_n^{({\alpha},{\beta}-1)}(x)+({\alpha}+n)P_n^{({\alpha}-1,{\beta})}(x);$ (ii) $2P_n^{({\alpha},{\beta})}(x)=(1+x)P_n^{({\alpha},{\beta}+1)}(x)+(1-x)P_n^{({\alpha}+1,{\beta})}(x);$ (iii) $P_{n-1}^{({\alpha},{\beta})}(x)=P_n^{({\alpha},{\beta}-1)}(x)+P_n^{({\alpha}-1,{\beta})}(x)$ can be established.

A FAMILY OF NEW RECURRENCE RELATIONS FOR THE JACOBI POLYNOMIALS P_n^(α,β) (x)

The objective of this paper is to present 87 recurrence relations for the Jacobi polynomialsP_n^(α,β) (x). The results pre-sented here most of which are presumably new are obtained with the help of Gauss's fifteen contiguous function relations and some other identities recently recorded in the literature.

Comparison of Knowledge Levels Required for SNOMED CT Coding of Diagnosis and Operation Names in Clinical Records

<P><B>Objectives</B></P><P>Coding Systematized Nomenclature of Medicine, Clinical Terms (SNOMED CT) with complex and polysemy clinical terms may ask coder to have a high level of knowledge of clinical domains, but with simpler clinical terms, coding may require only simpler knowledge. However, there are few studies quantitatively showing the relation between domain knowledge and coding ability. So, we tried to show the relationship between those two areas.</P><P><B>Methods</B></P><P>We extracted diagnosis and operation names from electronic medical records of a university hospital for 500 ophthalmology and 500 neurosurgery patients. The coding process involved one ophthalmologist, one neurosurgeon, and one medical record technician who had no experience of SNOMED coding, without limitation to accessing of data for coding. The coding results and domain knowledge were compared.</P><P><B>Results</B></P><P>705 and 576 diagnoses, and 500 and 629 operation names from ophthalmology and neurosurgery, were enrolled, respectively. The physicians showed higher performance in coding than in MRT for all domains; all specialist physicians showed the highest performance in domains of their own departments. All three coders showed statistically better coding rates in diagnosis than in operation names (<I>p</I> < 0.001).</P><P><B>Conclusions</B></P><P>Performance of SNOMED coding with clinical terms is strongly related to the knowledge level of the domain and the complexity of the clinical terms. Physicians who generate clinical data can be the best potential candidates as excellent coders from the aspect of coding performance.</P>

This research is analyzed by the operation frequency of Regional Railroad and the Load Factor on the level of each service based on the Regional railroad ticket sales data on the 2007 fiscal year. Because the Regional Railroad passenger"s satisfaction is sensitive of the transportation demand alteration, this research analyzed LOS. In addition to, analyzed the LOS will affect driving patterns of the Regional Railroad.

Pancreatic Cancer Induced by In Vivo Electroporation-Enhanced Sleeping Beauty Transposon Gene Delivery System in Mouse

OBJECTIVE: The aim of this study was to establish a pancreatic tumor model of mouse using the electroporation-enhanced Sleeping Beauty (SB) transposon system. METHODS: The SB transposon system was used in conjunction with electroporation to deliver oncogenes, c-Myc and HRAS, and shRNA against p53 into the mouse pancreas to induce tumors. Oncogenes (c-Myc and HRAS) and shRNA against p53 gene were directly injected into the pancreas of the mouse along with in vivo electroporation applied on the injection site. The tumors were identified grossly and confirmed using animal positron emission tomographic imaging. The tumors were then characterized using histological and immunohistochemical techniques. The expression of the targeted genes (c-Myc, HRAS, and p53) was analyzed by a real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction. RESULTS: Pancreatic tumors were successfully induced. The tumor phenotype was a sarcomatoid carcinoma, which was verified through immunohistochemistry. Some cysts or duct-like structures suggested to be metaplastic acinar cells were visible in the induced tumor. CONCLUSIONS: The SB transposon enhanced with electroporation can readily generate pancreatic tumors in the mice, and thus, this model serves as a valuable resource for the mouse models of pancreatic cancer.

백회혈(百會穴) 직구(直灸) 치료가 치매환자의 이름대기 능력에 미치는 영향

Subject: Totally 20 female dementia patients. Randomly divided into 2 groups. 10 for treatment, the other 10 for non-treatment. The treatment group`s average age is 80.3 yrs, averge K-MMSE score is 14.7 and average education period is 3.8 yrs. In the other hand, the non-treatment group`s average age is 77.9 yrs, average K-MMSE 16.5 and educational period is 4.1 yrs. Method: Operated direct moxibustion on the top of the head(the name of the acupoint is 百會) 3 times/ day for 2 weeks. On the non-treatment group, the moxibustion therapy was operated with the treatment group once 1st so that we could evaluate the direct effect of moxibustion. The result was analyzed by repeated measure of general linear model. Result: No significant result was found in the number of correct answer and patterns of flaws. No significant change between 2 groups. But the direct efficacy was shown in the number of correct answer. Though it`s not clear what the reason is. Conclusion: We need to study further. In this study, there are some limits in it.

의료기관의 Internet을 이용한 질의응답 업무 실태조사 : 약제과의 역할에 대한 고찰 Consideration of the role of pharmacy

As information retrieval through internet has been popularized, a demand of medical information has been increased. But most medical information is provided by commercial web sites without evaluation the quality of information. So we suggested there were a demand for drug information supplement by special medical institutions. The aim of this research was to investigate medical information on the web sites of hospital, especially department of pharmacy, ad discuss methods of improvement. We selected the web sites of tertiary medical institutions had over 500 beds and evaluated question and answer (Q&A) sites on the webs in terms of consulting fields, overall organization and easiness of access. Among the consulting fields, we selected medicine Q&A field and estimated answering method, quality of Q&A and the time required to answer. We also conducted a verbal questionnaire survey of patients or their family to check the demands of medical information. Among the 39 institutions, 23 institutions(59%) performed Q&A on the webs and the consulting fields were mainly composed of disease(95.7%, 22 of 23) and medicine(26.1%, 6 of 23). Overall organization of Q&A sites was managed by central or each clinical department. Both management methods had similar rates(54.5%, 41%) but all Q&A sites of medicine was conducted by department of pharmacy. The access to the Q&A sites was easy regardless of consulting fields. We couldn't evaluate Q&A sites of medicine precisely because the only three web sites had conducted Q&A during the research period. As a result of questionnaire survey, 83.3% of answerers who were using internet expressed positive opinions about health information obtaining through the Q&A site of medical institution. But most people didn't know how to use the Q&A sites of hospital. In conclusion, disease consultation on the web was relatively activated but medicine consultation was very insufficient. So we should make an effort to provide medicine information on the web and discuss pharmacist's role in this part.

면역적격 환자에서 발생한 폐 크립토코쿠스증 5예

폐 크립토코쿠스증은 최근 스테로이드 제제를 포함한 면역억제제의 사용으로 그 발생이 증가하고 있으며, 면역적격 환자들에게서 발생할 수 있다. 일부에서는 뇌수막염이나 패혈증과 같은 치명적인 전신감염을 초래할 수 있어, 이에 대한 진단 및 적절한 치료가 중요하다. 본 증례에서는 면역저하의 증거가 없는 환자들에서 다양한 폐질환의 양상으로 발병한 폐 크립토코쿠스증 5예를 경험하여 문헌고찰과 함께 보고하는 바이다. Cryptococcal infections occur frequently in patients with cell-mediated immune deficiency, such as acquired immune deficiency syndrome, organ transplants, hematologic malignancy patients and immunocompromised patients who receiving cancer chemotherapy or corticosteroid therapy. In these conditions, cryptococcosis can cause serious infections requiring systemic antifungal therapy such as meningoencephalitis and sepsis. However, pulmonary cryptococcosis in immunocompetent hosts may have self-limited course and improve without treatment. We experienced various pulmonary manifestations of pulmonary cryptococcosis in five immunocompetent patients. We diagnosed three cases of isolated pulmonary cryptococcosis and two cases of disseminated cryptococcosis involving lungs. All cases were treated with intravenous injection of amphotericin B during hostpital care, and maintained with oral fluconazole after discharge. During the follow-up, clinical symptoms and radiologic features were markedly improved.

전공의의 약사의 복약상담에 대한 인식도 조사

Patient counseling for medicine is not generalized during hospital stay and on discharge. Pharmacists have tried to conduct counseling service to patients at several hospitals. A survey was conducted to assess physicians' perception and needsabout medication counseling service for advancing the service with a team approach. One hundred two(75.6%) out of 135 physicians responded the survey in St. Mary's Hospital during October, 2002. Questions were asked about four areas; 1) request experience of counseling by pharmacists, 2) current situation of providing medication information by physicians, 3) concerns and needs about counseling by pharmacists, 4) necessity and request intention in future for counseling by pharmacists. The survey showed that 63.7% knew counseling practice by pharmacists, but 73.8% haven't had request experience. Physicians provided medication information in explaining treatment therapy (52.0%). Oral medications that physicians desired to counsel by pharmacists were steroids, antidiabetics, anticancer agents, anticoagulants and antituberculosis agents. Physicians desired to counsel with emphasis on side effect (58.8%), compliance (55.9%). A primary negative concern was to counsel inconsistently from physician's intention (76.5%). Most physicians accepted pharmacist's role in medication counseling(94.1%) and thought pharmacist's counseling would improve outcome of pharmacotherapy (90.2%). Physicians had an intention of counseling request in 82.4%. This survey suggested that, physicians' perception was favorable and they had strong intention to request medication counseling with an expanded role of pharmacists. However, request process hasn't been fully utilized. Pharmacist's counseling should be advanced with a qualified counseling, facilitation of request process and advertisement of the service. It is also necessary for physicians to have confidence and consider pharmacists as core members of health care team.
