In the drawing of large size automotive panels. elastic deflection of die components is induced by the contact force between them. The deflection is nonuniform and locally distributed, and results in nonuniform material flow. In order to arrange such a nonuniform die gap, a correcting operation, so called die spotting, is inevitable, which requires trial and error works and consuming time. A prediction of the bending deflection prior to a try-out must be useful to reduce the die spotting time. In this study, the drawing process of a front fender is simulated first, and the deflection of the blank holder is calculated from the contact force imposing on the blank holder. The balance block heights ensuring a uniform deflection are optimized by the analysis and design of experiments.

The contact forces between die components for the drawing of large size automotive panels introduce elastic deflections of the die components. Due to the deflections, the gap between blank holder and die varies locally resulting in nonuniform material flow. Such a nonuniform die gap usually requires correcting operation, so called die spotting, which is time consuming trial and error process. To reduce the die spotting time, the optimization of the blank holder bending deflection is needed. In this paper, we implemented an analysis procedure to predict the blank holder deflection. The analysis procedure and design of experiments techniques are applied to the optimization of balance block heights. The optimization results can be used as guidelines in actual die spotting process.

Background: Low serum concentrations of drugs for multi-drug resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB) have occasionally been associated with treatment failure. OBJECTIVE: We determined the prevalences of low serum concentrations of anti-MDR-TB drugs and the effects of serum levels according to the presence of 2 month-sputum conversion. Design: Venous blood was obtained 2hrs~6hrs after drug ingestion among 29 MDR-TB patients during each monthly visit, and the serum levels of moxifloxacin (Mf), prothionamide (PTH), and cycloserine (CS) were measured using high pressure liquid chromatography/tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) method. Results: Among 89 blood samples, the prevalences of low serum concentrations of Mf, PTH, and CS below the minimal level of therapeutic range were 70.8% (17/24), 60.0% (27/45), and 75.0% (39/52), respectively. There were no differences between 2 month-sputum conversion group (n=25) and 2 month-sputum non-conversion group (n=4) in median drug concentration (μg/ml) of Mf (1.46 VS. 1.60), PTH (0.91 VS. 0.70), and CS (14.90 VS. 14.90), respectively (p>0.05). However, poor compliance rate was significantly higher in 2 month-sputum non-conversion group (75.0%, 3/4) than in 2 month-sputum conversion group (0%, 0/25) (p<0.01). Conclusion: The prevalences of low concentrations of anti-MDR-TB drugs were substantial. Prospective larger studies with timely samplings are needed to investigate the role of therapeutic drug monitoring.
Anti-allergic effect of bee venom in an allergic rhinitis mouse model.

<P>Bee venom (BV) has been used as an anti-inflammatory and immune modulating agent in Oriental medicine. This study used a mouse model to investigate the anti-allergic effect of BV, which is used in the treatment of various inflammatory diseases in traditional medicine. BV was obtained from the National Institute of Agricultural Science and Technology of Korea. Female BALB/C mice were sensitized by intraperitoneal injection of ovalbumin (OVA). BV was administered nasally prior to the intranasal instillation of OVA. Allergic behavior, serum OVA-specific immunoglobulin E (IgE), interleukin (IL)-4, IL-10, and interferon-gamma (INF-γ) levels in nasal lavage fluid were measured. Hematoxylin-eosin and periodic acid-Schiff staining were performed to evaluate histological change. BV attenuated nasal symptoms and inhibited the production of OVA-specific IgE and IL-4 in sensitized mice. The degree of inflammatory cell infiltration and goblet cell hyperplasia was attenuated by BV. Thus, BV effectively reduced allergic inflammation in a mouse model of allergic rhinitis, suggesting its potential as a useful therapeutic agent to treat allergic rhinitis.</P>
Electronic monitoring of medication adherence for tuberculosis treatment in Morocco: a pilot study

Background: Non-adherence to treatment of tuberculosis (TB) is a major barrier to TB control. Objective:We investigated the effectiveness of Medication Event Monitoring System (MEMS) as a tailored adherence-promoting intervention for improving patients’ adherence to TB treatment in Morocco. Method: The outcome of TB treatment were compared between the patients who received MEMS and the patients who received standard TB care among patients confirmed by sputum acid fast bacilli smear. Standard TB care was based on directly observed treatment (DOT) and self-administration-treatment. Results of participants, recruited between April 2014 and August 2015, were retrospectively analyzed. The patients from 5 health centers who received MEMS (MEMS group) were compared with the patients from 7 health centers who received standard of care (control group) during same period in Morocco, Sale region. Results: One hundred three patients in MEMS group and 161 patients in control group were compared. The mean age (37.2 ± 16.3 VS. 36.1 ± 15.9) and the male-to-female ratio (73:30 VS. 111:50) were not different between two groups. The mean adherence rate in MEMS group was 94.3%. The cure rate and the completion rate in MEMS group were 33.7%, and 64.4%, respectively. Those in control group were 12.4%, and 65.2%, respectively. The default rate were significantly lower in MEMS group than in control group [1% (1/103) VS. 19.3% (31/161), odds ratio=0.04 (0.01-0.31), p < 0.01] Conclusion: MEMS could reduce the default rate of infectious TB patients in Morocco, Sale region.

<P>Metal-semiconductor-metal varactor diodes were realized on the 2-D electron gas (2DEG) of an In0.7Ga0.3As HEMT structure. The electrical performances, such as capacitance switching ratio (Cmax/Cmin) and cutoff frequency (fo), were determined by using S-parameters measurements up to 40 GHz. Devices with 130-nm gate length and a gate distance of 2 μm exhibited a cutoff frequency (fo) of 908 GHz and a capacitance switching ratio of 1.4. The corresponding figure of merit, which is defined as fo·Cmax/Cmin, was 1.29 THz.</P>
