      • Development of a Mobile Application, "Wild Flowers of Bukhansan National Park (version 1.0)", for Identification of Plants in Bukhansan National Park

        We developed the educational purpose mobile application, named "Wild Flowers of Bukhansan National Park (version 1.0)", aiming for easy identification of wild flowers for students and visitors in the park. When visitors find a flower or part of plant in the park, visitors can search for its name utilizing the pictures and characters provided in their own smartphone mobile devices or tablet PCs. The application provides pictures of wild flowers in the park and character-based searching system based on 12 diagnostic features (e.g., growth form, leaf arrangement, flower symmetry, petal color, petal number, sepal number, etc). We adopted the complete floristic survey of Chung and Lee (1962) and added species that we confirmed their distribution in the park during the development of this application. In summary, number of vascular plants in this park was estimated to be 428 taxa including 100 families, 280 genera, 327 species, 1 subspecies, 50 varieties, and 5 formas. We provided a total of 588 pictures representing 358 taxa and each taxon includes multiple pictures in many cases. Included identification quizzes can be an efficient educational tool as well as fun activity for students and visitors who are learning plant species in Korea. Our next step will include GPS function in the application for indicating visitor's location and for providing previously reported sites of the species that we interested in the map of the park. The future application which includes GPS function will be a valuable tool for the monitoring of rare plants, plant researches related to the climate changes, etc. We currently provide Korean iPhone version only, and English version and both of android versions will be serviced soon.

        The influence of obesity on pediatric conscious sedation

        Objective: This study was conducted to investigate as to whether obesity have any effects on conscious sedation outcomes. Methods: Forty children (mean age 30.5 months, mean height and weight were 91.3 cm, 14.3 kg respectively) were sedated with chloral hydrate (60 mg/kg) and hydroxyzine (25 mg). The relative obesity rate of the patients was obtained by the proportion of height to weight and the tonsil size of the patients was classified by Brodsky's scale. The overall sedation outcomes were evaluated by Houpt's scale. The pulse and respiratory rates during sedation were also evaluated. Results: The obesity of the patients had no statistically significant effects on movement, crying during sedation. However, an increase in obesity had negative effects on the overall conscious sedation outcomes. Conclusion: This investigation demonstrated that increased obesity may cause detrimental effects on pediatric conscious sedation outcomes. 본 연구의 목적은 소아의 비만도가 진정요법의 효과에 미치는 영향을 알아보는 것이다. 삼성서울병원 소아치과에 내원한 환자 중 ASA Ⅰ또는Ⅱ에 해당하는 40명의 환아 (평균연령 30.5개월, 평균신장 91.3cm, 평균체중 14.3kg)를 대상으로 chloral hydrate(60mg/kg) 및 hydroxyzine(25mg)을 사용하여 진정요법을 시행하였다. 환아의 체중과 신장을 이용하여 환아 각각의 비만도를 계산하였고 Broadsky's scale을 이용하여 편도선의 크기를 측정하였다. 진정요법에 대한 결과는 Houpt's scale(수면, 움직임, 울음, 전반적인 행동지수)을 이용하여 평가하였다. 환아의 비만도는 진정효과중 움직임과 울음에 대하여는 통계학적으로 유의한 차이를 만들지 않았으나 비만도가 증가 할수록 전반적인 행동지수가 유의하게 나빠지는 결과를 보였다.

      • A Study on the Functionality of Halophytes from Coast area of Jeollanam-do

        This study was undertaken to improve the perceived value of halophytes and contribute to the activity of the local economy by analyzing the antioxidant activity and mineral content of Suaeda japonica, Tetragonia tetragonoides, and Spergularia marina that grow wild on the mud flats and coastal areas. The total phenolic compound content found in each order is as follows: Suaeda japonica (3.674∼5.989 mg TAE/g dry wt.), Tetragonia tetragonoides (2.515∼4.471 mg TAE/g dry wt.), and Spergularia marina (2.450∼4.067 mg TAE/g dry wt.); DPPH radical scavenging and ABTS cation radical scavenging activities were also recorded in the same order. In the case of minerals, Iron(Fe) was relatively high in Suaeda japonica (960.1∼1,346.7 mg/kg), Manganese(Mn) in Tetragonia tetragonoides (197.1∼574.8 mg/kg), and Zinc(Zn) was relatively high in Spergularia marina (63.19∼216.56 mg/kg). It was confirmed that the mineral content of Suaeda japonica, Tetragonia tetragonoides, and Spergularia marina was significantly higher than that of Chinese cabbage, lettuce, leek, and spinach.

        지리산국립공원 심원계곡 생태경관 복원공사지역 식생 변화

        본 연구는 지리산국립공원 심원계곡 생태경관 복원공사지역의 모니터링 결과를 분석하여 체계적인 복원관리를 도모할 수 있는 기초자료를 확보하는데 그 목적이 있다. 복원사업이 완료된 2017년도에 식생 모니터링을 위한 조사구 12개소와 대조구 4개소를 설치하였고, 2017년과 2020년의 상대우점치, 종다양도지수, 유사도 등의 변화를 분석하였다. 복원사업 시 수목이 식재되었던 조사구는 종다양도지수가 0∼1.4552로 나타났고, 대조구와의 유사도지수에서는 1개 조사구가 1.32%로 분석된 것을 제외하고 모두 0%로 나타났다. 조사구의 종다양도지수 및 유사도지수가 매우 낮은 것은 복원사업 시 식재된 수목이 고사하거나 멧돼지 피해, 유수에 의한 침식으로 유실되는 등의 영향으로 판단되었다. 반면 복원사업 시 수목이 식재되지 않은 미식재 조사구는 종다양도지수가 0.9538∼2.3222로 나타났고, 유사도지수는 최대 8.33%까지 분석되었다. 국립공원 생태경관 복원공사지역의 복원 공법 개발을 위한 장기 모니터링과, 미식재 조사구의 천이과정을 분석하는 지속적인 연구가 필요하다. This study aims to obtain basic data for systematic restoration by analyzing the monitoring results of the Shimwon Valley Ecological Landscape Restoration Project area in Jirisan National Park. In 2017, when the restoration project was completed, 12 monitoring plots and 4 control plots were installed for vegetation monitoring, and changes in the relative dominance, species diversity index and similarity between 2017 and 2020 were analyzed. The species diversity index of the surveyed areas where trees were planted during the restoration project was 0-1.4552, and the similarity index with the control group was 0% except for one survey area at 1.32%. The very low species diversity index and similarity index in the survey areas were attributed to the loss of trees planted during the restoration project due to death, damage by wild boars, or erosion by running water. On the other hand, the species diversity index was 0.9538-2.3222 in the monitoring plot where no tree was planted, and the similarity index was analyzed to be as high as 8.33%. It is necessary to continue the long-term monitoring for the development of ecological landscape restoration methods in the national park and analysis of the succession in monitoring plots where no trees were planted.

      • 천안지역 일부 다중이용시설의 포름알데히드 농도에 관한 연구

        This study was conducted at a Terminal, a Parking Lot, an Underground shopping center, a Funeral hall and a Hospital waiting room of Cheon An area in August 2008 to examine the concentration level of HCHO(formaldehyde). The concentration level of the remodeled sites were 39.4 ± 12.0 ㎍/㎥ in the terminal, 32.7 ± 7.3 ㎍/㎥ in the parking, and 97.8 ± 29.4 ㎍/㎥ in the underground shopping center. The underground shopping center had the highest level and followed by the terminal and the parking. On the contrary, the site remodeling had the level of 17.7 ± 12.4 ㎍/㎥ in the funeral hall and 17.9 ± 0.6 ㎍/㎥ in the hospital waiting room. The funeral hall had highest level than that of the hospital waiting room. Both the remodeled sites and the not remodeled site had concentration level of HCHO below the standard level, but it was higher in the remodeled sites. There were no relations among the HCHO, the temperature and the humidity in facilities of Cheon An area.

        Brugada syndrome is characterized by right bundle branch block morphology and ST segment elevation in the right precordial leads and a propensity to develop ventricular arrhythmias. Mutations in a cardiac sodium channel gene have been linked to this syndrome, and the ionic mechanisms responsible for the electrocardiographic phenotype are temperature-dependent. This case report describes a patient in whom a typical Brugada ECG pattern developed during fever and returned normal ECG after fever was subsided.

        Apolipoprotein E 다형성에 따른 사업장 근로자의 혈중 지질농도, 영양소 섭취 및 건강관련 생활습관

        The purpose of this study was to investigate the association among nutrient intakes and health-related lifestyles with cardiovascular disease risk assessed by blood lipid profile according to Apolipoprotein E genotypes. Middle-aged industrial male workers who had completed their annual medical examination were recruited and data of 675 subjects who finished the nutrient survey were used in the analysis. Anthropometric parameters, dietary assessment (FFQ), health-related lifestyles and blood profiles were used for statistical analyses. Apo E genotype groups were classified into the following three genotypes: Apo E2 group (including E2/E2, E2/E3, E2/E4), Apo E3 group (including E3/E3), Apo E4 group (including E3/E4, E4/E4). The frequency of Apo E2, E3, and E4 allele were 13.3%, 75.0% and 11.7% respectively. There were no significant differences in the anthropometric parameters depending on different Apo E genotypes. Also, no significant differences in the nutrient intakes were found according to the genotype groups. The nutrient intakes of all subjects were similar to or higher than the level of KDRIs (Dietary Reference Intakes For Koreans) except for intakes of calcium (67.44% of KDRIs), vitamin A (73.83% of KDRIs) and vitamin B2 (78.02% of KDRIs). Also, there were no significant differences of health-related lifestyles according to Apo E genotype groups. As for the lipid profiles, Apo E4 group had significantly higher total and LDL-cholesterol concentrations than the Apo E2 group (p < 0.05). We confirmed that plasma total and LDL-cholesterol concentrations were greatly influenced by Apo E genotypes. However, nutrient intakes and health-related lifestyles were not associated with Apo E genotypes.

        In order to establish a dyeing method with Magnoliaceae tree species dyeing was examined with 4 different parts, leaf, stem bark, root, flower of 4 Magnohaceae species, Magnolia kobus Dc., Magnolia denudata Desr, Magnolia obovata Thunb, Liriodendron tulipifera L Mordants used were chemicals, AIK(SO_4)_2 24H_2O, Ca(OH)_2, FeSO_4 7H_2O. All four species showed similar coloring among four different parts. Leaves and petals showed dark yellow, stem bark, grayish yellow, root bark, dark red or yellow. Al mordant made more brighter colour than Fe mordant. Stem bark showed less difference in color by mordants, whereas petals did the biggest.

        다문화주의에 기초한 초등 미술 감상 수업 연구

        자율적이고 창의적인 인재의 육성을 요구하는 시대적 흐름에 대응하여 제7차 교육과정에는 국제이해교육에 관한 내용이 제시되어 있다. 현재 다문화 교육을 위한 교육과정 개발은 도입 단계로서 일부 교과에서만 다루며 내용 구성도 단편적인 지식의 소개에 그치는 실정이다. 본 연구에서는 다문화주의에 기초하는 초등학교의 감상 수업을 미술교과에 도입함으로서 국제이해교육을 확대하는 방안을 모색하여 보았다. 이를 위하여 다문화 미술 감상 수업에 적합한 주제를 선택하여 감상 단원을 개발하고 수업에 적용해 본 결과,학생들은 다문화 감상 수업을 통하여 외국 문화에 대한 편견을 없애고,다른 나라의 미술을 감상할 때 새로운 시각을 가지고 바라보는 긍정적인 태도를 함양하는데 유효한 것으로 나타났다. The current Korean art curriculum has an insufficient systematic curriculum for multi-cultural education as well as insufficient class hours. Given these difficult circumstances, this study aimed to suggest a multi-cultural appreciation class through the integration of curricula. Students can have an opportunity to understand other cultures without prejudice through a multi-cultural art appreciation class. They can perceive other cultures are not inferior or superior, but are equivalent to ours. Furthermore, students can have a new perspective on the appreciation of artworks. Through the appreciation class, which is made up of cultures and various types of background knowledge, students are able to gain a perception that the appreciation class is not fun or boring. Art is inseparable from culture. Therefore, it would be an opportunity for students to learn art appreciation more effectively by learning cultures.
